Using Firefox to search a web page.
When I click on a picture to enlarge it on a web page ( any webpage),a new blank page opens with nothing.It only says" search bookmarks and history".
What do I have to do to view an enlarged view ? What settings do i have to enable in firefox.
Any help would be appreciated

Start Firefox in [[Safe Mode]] to check if one of your add-ons is causing your problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Tools > Add-ons > Themes).

If it does work in Safe-mode then disable all your extensions and then try to find which is causing it by enabling one at a time until the problem reappears. 
You can use "Disable all add-ons" on the [[Safe mode]] start window to disable all extensions. 
You have to close and restart Firefox after each change via "File > Exit" (Mac: "Firefox > Quit"; Linux: "File > Quit")

That is OK. Firefox will only display the link in the location bar after the DNS look up has succeeded and a connection to the server has been established. I have clicked several different links on webpages and the link keeps taking me to a new window that would allow me to Search Bookmarks and History. It seems to be random but certain links go to the new window every time.

When i click to open a link a blank screen pops up that says search bookmarks and history.

I open firefox to play games on yahoo home page. Click game, then click spades, then click the table to play at and the window opens but it is blank and says at the top of it "search bookmarks and history." This happens on my lap top but on my desktop it doesnot happen.

When I click on a link, firefox sometimes creates 100s of 'searching bookmarks and history' tabs until I cold power down.

If I restore Firefox to save existing tabs (including the 100s of 'searching bookmarks and history' tabs), I will receive approximately 3 times a day a 'Firefox terminated unexpectedly' message. What is triggering the proliferation of tabs?

You can have infinite tabs opening if you have selected Firefox as the application to handle a file if you get an Open with download window. 
Firefox should not be selected as the application to handle a file and you have to remove the action that is associated with that file type.

When I try to connect to a link I receive the message "Search bookmarks and history" and FF won't connect to the link requested. VER FF 3.6.6. Windows7; 64 bit.

I have currently FF 3.6.8 running under Windows XP 32 bit. I am using Multiproxy Switch ver 1.33 add-on to switch between multiple proxies.
My FF starting page is http://www.google.com/ncr . When I start Firefox and the actually configured proxy is unreachable, I get the usual message that the page cannot be opened ("Try again"). Then I switch to another proxy or to direct connection. Normally the desired page (google) opens. But in case I switch the proxy before the error message appears, this grayed message "Search Bookmarks and History" appears instead of the URL in the URL input field and I have to retype the URL.
Remark: I would really like to have this function "Searching Bookmarks and History" available in Firefox, because I often do this kind of search and need 4 clicks to get there (Bookmarks-Organize Bookmarks-Bookmarks Menu-and then input my search criteria).

When within a wedsite, when prompted to access info a blank page that saya"Search Bookmarks and History" pops up denying me access, how do I fix this?

Example: when in my on line banking site I want to access older statements I press the prompt and a full blank page stating "search Bookmarks and History" pop up and I cannot access what I requested.

My laptop harddrive crashed. I have installed a new hard drive. I want to retreive all Firefox bookmarks and History. Is it possible? I use windows XP

I use a Windows XP Laptop and Firefox browser ( free don't remember the version). My hard drive crashed today 31.07.2011 and I installed a new hard drive with installed Windows XP. My scenario is like that i created one dynpro application which display quotation data in one view. In second view i configured UWL Inbox. Through this Inbox i approve this quotation no.
Now my quotation comes from crm system in backend.
I need to provide just approve or reject fuctionality from inbox. But when i click on inbox item it is showing bsp error msg.So what is solutiion of this.

The problem arises for such sites as the TV Guide. Normally, when I click on a listed show, a box appears telling me the details of that program. Not anymore.

Right click on the hyperlink and select “Open Link in New Tab," that will open a new tab and keep you from getting a blank page like most people get. I don't know why they changed this option. If you don't want to do that every time you can change it in the config.
1. In Firefox, type about:config into URL Location bar.
2.Click on I’ll be careful, I promise! button.
3.In the filter text box, enter the following text string with no quotations :

Alternatively, manually locate the preference name above.
