When i connect ipod 2 minutes later my computer turns off

when i connect my ipod to my computer 2 minutes later my computer turns off. It doesnt shut down, my screen goes blank and i cant do anything but turn my computer off at the wall. I have a healthy computer with service pack 2 so should be fine. Itunes recognises my ipod but because of this problem I have attempted the 5 r's to no avail.
Help why would it do this i cant find anyone with a similar problem.

let's see if there's a blue screen lurking behind the display problem.
1) Open your system control panel (Start->Control Panels->System).
2) Select the "Advanced" tab.
3) Click the "Startup and Recover" section's "Settings" button
4) Verify that under "System Failure" the "Automatically restart" checkbox is not checked.
now plug the ipod in. do you get a blue screen? if so, what numerical and text codes are you getting with it? (ie 0x[zeros/letters/numbers] CAPSANDUNDERSCORES)
if the blue screen mentions a specific file, let us know what that is called too. (exact spelling, please.)

As an aside, the current installed operating system on this old iPhone is 4.2.1, but that wasn't one of the selectable options in the operating system list dropdown below. Don't know if that makes any difference.

Place the iOS device in Recovery Mode and then connect to your computer and restore via iTunes. The iPod will be erased.

If recovery mode does not work try DFU mode.

- Also try DFU mode after try recovery mode

- If not successful and you can't fully turn the iOS device fully off, let the battery fully drain. After charging for an least an hour try the above again.
- Try on another computer

Computer freezes when i connect ipod mini 4gb

i have a problem with my ipod mini 4gb (2nd gen.) for like 2months, it freezes when i connect it to my windows computer.
i tried to reset my ipod en reinstal itunes, but nothing worked. PLEASE HELP!

Hmm... See, I've tried that already (And just tried it again) and instead of allowing me to run it, the computer freezes entirely, just as it would if the "Restart your computer" message came up, only it doesn't show the text, and nor does the screen dim. The only thing I can do at that point is hold down the power button, thusly shutting the computer down. So I cannot restore my iPod that way. Are there any other ways? Or does anyone perhaps have any other suggestions?

The second issue is when I try to select "Manually Manage Music"
The iPhone "My iPhone" is synced with another iTunes libary on "MY-PC". Do you want to erase this iPhone and sync with this iTunes library? An iPhone can be synced with only one iTunes library at a time. Erasing and syncing replaces the contents of this iPhone with the contents of this iTunes library."
So... I don't want to do that, but I do what to be able to Manage my music. I'm not sure what it means by being synced to another iTunes unless it means to an older version of itunes?
Anyone have any ideas?

I cannot address the sync services error right now, but the error that you receive when you change from sync to manually manage music is what happens when you change. Once you change to manually manage music, it erases all of the music and will only put the music that you want on the phone, content that you manually drag over to it. i have just downloaded and installed the latest version of itunes. Now when i connect my ipad to my computer via USB, itunes states that the apple mobile device service cannot be started because of an unknown error (1058). The connection worked fine with the previous version of itunes.

Yes I did.. Everything is ready. Just when I plug the cable into the phone and the computer nothing will happen.. When I plug it into our "business" laptop immediately it will show that it is connected... With this laptop I am using now, nothing happens..
