When I connect my ipad to my laptop and 'open files' to copy images from my camera roll to my laptop nothing apears in the dcim folder.
Does anyone know why or how i can see the files? I recorded a video which is 45 minutes long but over 8gb in size and i need to get it off the ipad - but when i plug it in it doesnt show anything apart from a folder called DCIM. :s
Turn on Photo Stream in settings on your device, download the iCloud control panel in your Apple Software Update panel (if using Windows) and then go into your Photo Stream folder, and copy everything into a folder on your laptop, then proceed to delete the photos on your device. That's what I do. Hope this helps.

I am having all kinds of trouble with itunes and updating my ipad. I open itunes up but it doesn't do anything except open to a blank screen. I try to access the itunes store but it won't go there. When I connect my ipad, and try to update it, it starts and then I get a message that says backup cannot be saved on this computer. I have tried everything suggested to no avail. This is the 2nd or 3rd time I have had problems with itunes. Sometimes I even get a message that I am not connected to the internet.
I have uninstalled and re-installed. Any help?You might not have enough space left on your hardrive.

I have my PC on, then plug in my iPad (which is on) and open iTunes. The iPad does not show up in the sidebar. How do you get it to show up so that I can select the iPad and then configure the sync settings in each of the settings panes....hoping that these actually show up.
In the manual it says "log in to your computer user account before connecting iPad". I am the only user of this PC...does this mean some other user account. I am confused. I need "baby steps" to tell me how to do all this....very senior and just learning about this wonderful machine. I will very much appreciate your help.If you are the only user on your computer you probably don't have multiple user accounts set up and can disregard that. If you are using iTunes 11 go to View>Show Sidebar. Now see if your iPad appears under Devices on the left side when you connect it. If it does, click on the name of your iPad on the left side and your iTunes sync settings options will appear in folders with tabbed headings to the right.

Using an older, second-issue iPad, I can download images into it from my camera. I cannot move them out of the iPad into a thumb drive. The message I receive is that the thumb drives require too much energy to make the transfer. What can I do?
Thats how its designed. in order to export your images or videos, the best method might be by connecting the iPad to your computer, or directly to the thumb drive connected to your computer, not to the iPad. Then is as simple as drag and drop. The other method could be sending them by email or uploading via a cloud service but that will take more time do get it done.

Probably a privacy issue.
Check your privacy settings.
On the iPad, click SETTINGS
then PRIVACY
then PHOTOS
Look for iMovie and turn it ON -
Can't import photos from iPhone to iPhoto. Image Capture does not launch when iPhone is connected to my iMac and iPhoto is open. There is no "Preferences" option offered to click when in Image Capture.
This helped me. It is advice I found from a user named Carlosmara. First make sure iPhoto is closed and your iPhone is not connected. Then, as Carlosmara stated in his post,
"Go to your Library/preferences and delete the file com.apple.iPhoto.plist
IPhoto should recognized the iPhone again."
The file in question is under your user folder.
I then restarted my mac and plugged in the iPhone so that it would sync. After the sync, when I opened iPhoto, my iPhone was recognized and I could download the photos perfectly.

If you're using a USB hub take it out of the loop. Plug directly in to a USB port on the system. If you are using a front mounted USB port, try one on the back instead. If this doesn't correct it, try shutting off any firewall and antivirus software and turn off User Access Control.

I really need HELP!!! I have a laptop that runs with windows vista, and I have been having issues trying to get it to download the new version of itunes that would be compatible to the new version of ios 7 that I have already updated on my ipad. I have downloaded this three times, it shows that the download is complete, but when I connect my ipad to my laptop it is still telling me that I have to download the new version again and it will not sync with my ipad until I do. Does anyone else have this issue and can anyone help me figure out how to correct it? I would be most grateful!!

When I connect my iPad to my laptop and update software it disables my disk drive. Apple does not have a solution and Microsoft Fix It will not fix the problem. I have taken my computer to a repair shop on two occasions now to have it fixed. They told me that it is some foreign device that has CD burning software and the only thing I have is my iPad.

when i connect my iphone to my laptop and open itunes it shows my iphone has nothing on it(no music, no movies, etc...) then when i try to sync it says iphone is is full and can only put in a selected amount of songs. I cannot address the sync services error right now, but the error that you receive when you change from sync to manually manage music is what happens when you change. Once you change to manually manage music, it erases all of the music and will only put the music that you want on the phone, content that you manually drag over to it. When I connect my iPAD to my PC it no longer opens it at as device in itunes.
This has worked in the past.
I don't have problems with my old iPOD. That is recognised and syncs ok.
Also, the PC recognises the iPAD as a drive so I'm not sure why it doesn't open it in itunes... Very frustrating.Thanks, this helped. THere was a new version of iTunes I downloaded to my PC and now the iPad is recognized.
The problem now is that I get the message that I cannot backup my iPad as my PC is not authorised, even though when I click to authorize it says my PC is already authorized.

When I connect my iPad to my iMac I get a repetitive flashing error message "iTunes could not connect to this iPhone. This device is no longer connected." iPhoto eventually launches but iTunes will not launch iTunes. iPad will not charge. Restarted iMac and rebooted iPad and no difference.
