If you have problems with updating or with the permissions then easiest is to download the full version and trash the currently installed version to do a clean install of the new version.

Look on one of your bank statements and be sure to enter the billing address exactly as it shows on the statement. Some folks forget where they actually get the statement. I have also had the same problem with my Win 7 32 bit computer. I had great help from Apple techs in Montreal and Orlando for 2.5 hours. They helped me remove every trace of Apple products and clean the registry in two different ways. Each install gave the same problem! If Apple techs can't fix it (on some of our machines) then we are really in trouble. They promised to raise it with the "engineers" and get back to me with a solution. I am waiting and hoping. Otherwise maybe version 11.1.5 will have a fix ??

What are you trying to do? If you have a brand new machine, you don't need to download and install Mavericks. You already have it.

My Ipad2 works fine except when I try to email myself a link to a safari webpage. I get an error message saying that the message failed to connect to the server. I have cleared data and cookies, powered down, and done a reset. Nothing seems to help.

Typing in additional text seems to get the job done. This seems to be a feature of the latest IOS update, I have never had the problem before the last update.
I use the box with the arrow just to the left of the URL block at the top of the page to send myself links to pages of interest. Adding the extra text seems like a pointless step, but it does work.

I don't know what the problem is with your corrupt/unopenable document on CD. I wonder if you can display it with QuickLook.
Select the file in Finder and hit the Spacebar. If the file is displayed properly, you can capture it as an image with Grab.app or by Shift-Command-4, > drag capture box.
Not knowing the complexity of your document, it's difficult to say what you should do next. I'd submit the graphics to an OCR application and extract the text, to be used in reconstructing the original document.

We need some numbers. Connect the phone to your computer with a USB cable. Click on its name in iTunes.
Look at the bottom of the iTunes screen; there will be a graph of the memory usage of the phone. At the right end it will tell you how much free memory you have.
Now go to iPhoto. Select all of the images you want on the phone. iPhoto will tell you how much space is required.
Compare the 2 numbers, available vs total of the image sizes.
