When I open a Bookmark folder , the contents appear to the right and I prefer they appear to the left as they did until I was organizing some folders ?

I recently updated FF and then spent some time organizing and how the dontents of the folders appear to the right and I want them to go back to the left as they have been for as long as I have been using FF

I do not use a Mac, but will try to provide some information.
There is a ''List all tabs'' arrowhead that by default is on the right hand side, and appears once the number of tabs overflows the visible bookmarks toolbar. that may be repositioned, if you customise the toolbars.
There is the bookmarks menu, on my lynux system that drops down left of centre.
There is a sidebar, that I believe is available in all desktop OS s an is on the Left Hand SIde. Finally there is the bookmark library, which effectively is its own window and may be placed as required.
I am wondering if it is the bookmarks sidebar that you normally use, and have lost the option for ?
(Or are you talking about [[Use Tab Groups to organize a lot of tabs|tab groups]] ? or the drop down menu from the [[Bookmarks Toolbar - Display your favorite websites at the top of the Firefox window| Bookmarks toolbar]] ? )

Right-click on the bookmark and select Properties. De-select the setting "Load this bookmark in the sidebar"

When I open my HD on the left w/ the list of major folders is a file, stuck

Sorry the question is confusing.
When I open my HD on the left pannel there's the list of all of the major folders, desktop, documents, applications, etc. On the very bottom there is a video file stuck in that list. I've deleted it but it's still there. Whenever I drag it from the list to the garbage it disapears until the next time I open my HD, at which point it is still there.
Whenever I click on the file to play it or something a message pops up that it's volume can't be found.
Please advise.

What happened to the ability to open your bookmarks on the left hand side of the screen and scroll thru them like on IE?

In older versions of firefox, I could open the bookmarks on the left hand side of the screen, and they would stay open when i clicked on one of them, and i could use it to open multiple tabs. How do i do that in Firefox 5? I do not like the bookmark toolbar.

The bookmarks toolbar no longer displays by default & they seem to be encouraging use of the bookmarks button or bookmarks menu. The bookmarks sidebar is still available if you know the shortcut as above. There is also the bookmarks library, now under show all bookmarks, rather than organise/organize bookmarks. ( Also it is possible with a simple chrome command in the location bar to open the library as a tab enter

In PS and AI in CS2, when I open a picture folder, the thumbnail images are inverted

I recently D/L installed CS 2 on my Windows 7 desktop. Thanks Adobe, it's great for me.
However, when I open a folder in PS or AI to select an image, the thumbnails in the folder are inverted.
Strangely, this doesn't happen on my Windows 7 laptop.
Can anyone suggest a fix? It's annoying when I have many images to search thru.

Does the file actually open in Adobe Reader or is it opening in something else (I would tend to guess the latter)?

Since Firefox8, every time I start it, it opens 2 extra tabs to tell me that Firefox is installed, and that dwhelper has been updated. These changes are not new. Also, when I open a bookmarked site, the previously open site remains open.

Something really odd is going on. In your first screen shot, I noticed that the Applications folder does not have the proper icon displayed in the side bar. Also, in the title bar it lists it as Applications 08-59-29-909.
Not sure where it's picking up that odd name, unless it's because it's still truly within the Trash folder.
Try this. In the Finder > Preferences > General > turn on "Always open folders in a new window". (I have a feeling you have the default setting with this off).
Now, in Finder > Go > move down and open the Applications Folder from there. Now open the folder where you see all your applications that you show in your screen shot, select all, and move them to this true appliactions folder.
This is what you should properly seeing (but with different apps listed):

When I open one particular folder to play the games in it the pointer turns into a pinwheel and I cant open the game or close the folder unless I shut down my computer. Never happened before and does not happen with any other folder on the desktop.

Try this. Open one of your files. The window that contains your picture is named at the top. Command click on the name and you'll see the entire path starting with its name and then moving to the folder, the folder it is contained in, etc all the way to down to the hard drive volume name. This should tell you where to find the folder.

If you for some reason must have many different folder make sure that you put the newst photo in the last folder so one can easily find a photo when I don't want to copy all photos to, let' say, my friend computer.

When I create a new bookmark folder, the name of an existing folder is frequently changed to the anme of the new one, why?

Frequently when I create a new bookmark folder the name of an already existing unrelated folder is also changed to the same name as the new one being created. Sometimes if I am creating the new folder in "Bookmarks Menu" the existing folder who's name is changed is also in the "Bookmarks Menu". But sometimes it will be in the "Bookmarks Toolbar".
This is quite frustrating since the purpose of naming them is to identify them.

This can be a problem with the file places.sqlite that stores the bookmarks and the history.

When I open my Bookmarks it leaves a ghost image on the desktop

When I open my bookmarks and they are larger than the Firefox window it leaves the image of the bookmarks on my desktop. It does not effect the browser and when I click on show desktop it goes away, but it is very annoying. I just upgraded tp the latest version of Fifrefox and this was not an issue with the previous version I was using.

Try to disable hardware acceleration.
*Tools > Options > Advanced > General > Browsing: "Use hardware acceleration when available"
If disabling hardware acceleration works then check if there is an update available for your graphics display driver.

One thing often tried first is to create a new document and File>Place the corrupted one to see how much may be rescued that way (remember to tick Paste remembers Layers in the Layer palette flyout/dropdown first, and to untick it afterwards).

How to go back to the same directory after opening one bookmark instead of having to browse the directory tree again to open another bookmark from the same dir

I regularly need to check several bookmarks that are stored in the same directory, which usually is a couple of clicks from the main bookmarks menu.
When I select a bookmark in the tree that I created to organize my bookmarks and it does not give met the web-page/information I was looking for, I want to try another bookmarked web-page in the same directory.
So I have to click my way through the whole tree again.
I would highly appreciate if it could be made possible that hovering over the bookmarks menu automatically will unfold the whole tree to the directory where I have been last. That would be a real time saver.

I want to be able to open bookmarks in the same window without having to right click and then select open. I would like it to be like internet explorer where you have the option to open a bookmark in the same tab or new tab. I had downloaded an add on that solved the problem with a simple right click to open in new tab and left click to open in same tab. This makes things soooo much easier. What are your Extensions?
-List them.
-You obviously set up some extension with some kind of conflict.
To find out which Extension is causing the problem, '''enable one-at-a-time''', restart Firefox for the change to take effect (File > Restart Firefox), test. When the problem re-appears, you know the extension causing the problem.
