When I open firefox, the web address ishows my chosen home page but the window shows "untitled" and I am unable to connect to any site to the internet.

I chose the New York Times site to be my home page and when I open Firefox this address appears in the web address panel. But in the tab box it says "untitled" and I don't connect to any web page. I have tried reloading firefox, nothing seems to work. How can I stop this?

A possible cause is security software (firewall) that blocks or restricts Firefox without informing you about that, possibly after detecting changes (update) to the Firefox program.
Remove all rules for Firefox from the permissions list in the firewall and let your firewall ask again for permission to get full unrestricted access to internet for Firefox and the plugin-container process.

I cannot print from firefox. I can print from open office. It seems to have something to do with when frames open because in IE, I can print a whole page, but when I try to use a print button embeded in a page or frame it does not work.

In Internet Explorer, I was able to print by pushing the print button, but when opening a frame, like in mapquest, the embedded print button brings up an options window that has print frames options in it, but when hit OK in this box, a second error box comes up with a yellow exclamation point and nothing prints. Yes, I tried that.   The files were ordered by their original numbers as imported from the camera, but I batched them through Phocoshop to downsize all of them into a more manageable file size.   I opened that destination folder from quick time from where it said select image sequence.   I clicked on the first one and opened it.   The result was a large image with an arrow indicating a movie was ready to go.   When I pressed the arrow, though, I realized it had only imported that one frame so there was no movie.   The files are Jpgs and are about 450 KB each.
    To your knowledge are there any links to iMovie tutorials or quick time tutorials that may address this situation? Maybe there will be one I haven't looked at yet.

I can hear, but not see, hidden windows (advertisements, etc.) when I open Firefox, even if I haven't visited another page. What's going on?

For the last few days I can hear advertisements running (like streaming video ads) whenever I'm online, even if it's not on the page I'm on. Even when I open task manager, it doesn't acknowledge an additional task or page being open. What's going on, can I stop it, and how?

LOL! That's fine! Now I understand why my computer at work updated and why it wouldn't at home. Yes, when I went to 2 different places and downloaded the file and went to run it, it stopped halfway through. Guess that's what you meant by crash. All it said was that the install was interrupted and to press OK. When you did that, the download disappeared completely.
So thanks very much. I'll just wait like you said. After all I just did an update last week again. Seems like Firefox has been updating quite a lot lately.

When I open Safari, it doesn't go to my home page?

I have set my preferences so that "new windows open with:" and "new tabs open with:" are set to home page. When I open Safari, the page that opens is the last website that I was on. I want it to open like it used to and go straight to my home page every time.
Any ideas? Am I screwing this up or is this a bug?

Firefox is "unable to connect" to any site, while other broswers can

I've tried clearing my cookies and history, disabling addons/extensions and the firewall, changing/disabling proxy settings, and read several of the articles, but nothing seems to work. I was out of town for 2 days and everything was working fine when I left. Got back today and just kept getting "unable to connect" message for any website I tried to open. I tried to download chrome and opera, but the download had an error and just didn't work (chrome) and just stayed at 0% with nothing happening (opera). i'm able to get emails and get on websites via internet explorer.

To restore your interface layout, go into ''View > Toolbars > Customize... > Restore Default Set''.
If you can't see the menu bar, press ALT or F10 in your keyboard to make it temporarily visible. If you want it to be permanently visible, go into ''View > Toolbars > Menu Bar'', or right-click the Navigation Toolbar (the Reload button, for example) and select ''Menu Bar''.
If this doesn't help, right-click the navigation toolbar, select ''Customize...'' and click ''Restore Default Set''. If it doesn't appear right away, try pressing ALT or F10. You can go into ''View > Toolbars > Menu Bar'' to make it permanently visible, or right-click the Navigation Toolbar and select ''Menu Bar''.
If none of this helps, you may be having a problem with some Firefox add-on that is hindering your Firefox's normal behavior. Try disabling all add-ons (just to check), to see if Firefox goes back to normal.
