When I open top sites I get a grey screen, and when I typ something it's like I forget some letters (i'm sure I didn't). On IE I don't have that problem.These problems started yesterday.
Top sites doesn't work (when I put F12 I only get a grey screen.
When I'm typing something on social network then he didn't get all the letters.
Try clearing Safari's cache : Settings > Safari > Clear Cache (and Clear History)
If that doesn't work then try closing Safari completely and then re-open it : from the home screen (i.e. not with Safari 'open' on-screen) double-click the home button to bring up the taskbar, then press and hold any of the apps on the taskbar for a couple of seconds or so until they start shaking, then press the '-' in the top left of the Safari app to close it, and touch any part of the screen above the taskbar so as to stop the shaking and close the taskbar.
A third option is a reset : press and hold both the sleep and home buttons for about 10 to 15 seconds (ignore the red slider), after which the Apple logo should appear - you won't lose any content, it's the iPad equivalent of a reboot.

Remove the battery and AC plug. Hold down the power button for 30 seconds. Now hook up just the AC plug and try to turn on. Also try connecting an external monitor and see if it will display there and report back.

When I first open Firefox it is fine but if I open a second tab to search another site I get a white screen and have to continually click 'back', click the site link, white screen, back, click the link, white screen and so on.
This can also be a problem with the files [http://kb.mozillazine.org/sessionstore.js sessionstore.js] and sessionstore.bak in the [http://kb.mozillazine.org/Profile_folder_-_Firefox Profile Folder]
Delete [http://kb.mozillazine.org/sessionstore.js sessionstore.js] and sessionstore.bak in the [http://kb.mozillazine.org/Profile_folder_-_Firefox Profile Folder]
If you see files sessionstore-##.js with a number in the left part of the name like sessionstore-1.js then delete those as well.
You will have to redo App Tabs and Tab Groups after deleting sessionstore.js.

My 13" macbook just stopped working. When you turn it on you get a white screen and hear a repetitive clicking sound on the left side. Is this the hard drive? Any suggestions on replacement drives?
ThanksPut your install DVD into the optical drive (CD/DVD drive) and reboot. Be sure to either use the disc that came with your Mac, or, if you installed a later Mac OS X version from disc, use the newer disc. As soon as you hear the boot chime, hold down the "c" key on your keyboard (or the Option Key until the Install Disk shows up) until the apple shows up. That will force your MacBook to boot from the install DVD in the optical drive.
When it does start up, you'll see a panel asking you to choose your language. Choose your language and press the Return key on your keyboard once. It will then present you with an Installation window. Completely ignore this window and click on Utilities in the top menu and scroll down to Disk Utility and click it. When it comes up is your Hard Drive in the list on the left?
If it is, then click on the Mac OS partition of your hard drive in the left hand list. Then select the First Aid Tab and run Repair Disk. The Repair Disk button won't be available until you've clicked on the Mac OS partition on your hard drive. If that repairs any problems run it again until the green OK appears and then run Repair Permissions. After repairing use Startup Disk from the same menu to choose your hard drive for restarting from your hard drive.
If your hard drive isn’t recognized in Disk Utility then your hard drive is probably dead. -

Simple way to make HDD free space is delete files you don't need anymore.
Or get bigger drive and external HDD case, then:
1) install bigger HDD in external drive case.
2) connect external drive and format and mount it with Disk Utility.
3) make clone with Carbon Copy Cloner or SuperDuper!(source drive is internal HDD, target drive is external one).
4) install external bigger drive into your Macbook Pro.
In the cace if your're using Mac Pro:
1) get bigger HDD and install it in drive bay of Mac Pro.
2) format and mount it with Disk Utility.
3) make clone with Carbon Copy Cloner or SuperDuper!(source drive is old HDD, target drive is new one).
4) Select boot drive to new bigger one. -
3 years ago I bought an IMac Desktop that I am using for a lot of things but the most important for dvd montage in Imovies and Idvd.
Now today when I opened my computer I get as usual the white screen with the Apple symbol but there were all over the screen vertical lines with green pixels and after a while the screen gets grey and I get message to restart my computer using the power button or the restart button and when I do so each time the same is happening somebody can tell me what is happening and what caused this. This computer is my work and now I have no income anymore.
On the Apple support site they are asking to enter the serial number and when I do so I get message it is wrong but it is the only one I have and I buy this computer in Cairo Egypt. I am living in Hurghada in Egypt for the moment. When I call the technical support of the shop where I buy it they are telling me that it is the hard disk or ram and that I probably lost everything on it and they are asking a big amount to repair.
Can somebody advise me on this matter. Thanks in advanceYou can find the serial number either in About this Mc in the Menu bar under the , or it should be on a sticker under the foot of the machine.
If you have the install discs, try booting from them, holding down the c key and then using Disk Utility to check the drive.
You can also boot into Safe mode
To start up into Safe Mode (to "Safe Boot"), do this:
1. Be sure the computer is shut down.
2. Press the power button.
3. Immediately after you hear the startup tone, press and hold the Shift key.
Tip: The Shift key should be held as soon as possible after the startup tone but not before.
4. Release the Shift key when you see the gray Apple and progress indicator (looks like a spinning gear).
During the startup in Mac OS X 10.2 through 10.3.9, you will see "Safe Boot" on the Mac OS X startup screen.
During the startup in Mac OS X 10.4 or later, you will see "Safe Boot" on the login window, which appears even if you normally log in automatically.

To leave Safe Mode in any version of Mac OS X, restart the computer normally, without holding any keys during startup. -
Most of the time when I turn on the Mac I get the white screen and question mark appear. Sometimes it will turn on and work. But often the coloured spinning wheel starts up especially after trying to use iphoto it freezes and a couple of times the screen has then gone black. The computer seemed pretty warm yesterday when this happened.
Any suggestions of what I should do to fix it would be greatly appreciated.

So here is a lowdown on my problem.
I start my mac OSX, I hold down the alt/option key and load my MAC osx drive (which is the only drive available; however, when i do not hold down the alt/option key it will go to a black screen that says "no bootable device, press a key when device inserted"). Continuing, it then goes to my login screen where I have my username, and I can enter my password like usual. I enter my password, hit the enter button (like I always do), and this is where my problem begins.
After I enter my login and hit enter, the screen goes grey, with a little apple symbol in the middle and a different shade of grey loading bar underneath. This grey loading bar shows up for about 10 seconds, fills up about 10-20 percent, and then shuts my computer down.
No matter what I do, this process repeats over and over, and heres where the problem gets worse, and this part is VERY IMPORTANT and is the most depressing, stressful part of the process.
NONE of the startup/boot commands work except holding the alt/option key. I can't hold: Command plus r; command pr to reset PRAM; shift to enter safe mode.
I really dont know what to do here :/. I have files that I want on the hard drive, that are pretty important but not critical. I gave up on wanting the files back but now I want to simply WIPE my computer and re-install a clean version of OSX onto the computer, but I CANNOT GET TO THE REINSTALLER :(.
More information that may be helpful:
I do have a partition on the HDD that I was going to use for Bootcamp, but it does not have anything installed on it (thus causing the "no bootable device" screen to load, and probably causing the boot commands not to work).
My version of Mac OSX is 10.8.4. "MBP 15.4/2.8/16GB/768 flash"
The last time I restarted my computer, my mac OSX RAM was down to 1.75 GB, with nothing open. Usually when nothing is open the free RAM is around 10-13 GB (I know this because I have the activity monitor always open, and I use my computer a lot).
Again, boot commands will not work, except for holding the alt/option key.
So if anyone can help me fix my problem(s), which are:
1: using boot commands; 2: reinstalling mac OSX; or 3: getting my files,
I would love you forever. I would really prefer 1 or 2. Thanks for reading this.Oh and one more thing, I do not have a disc drive in the mac osx. The version I have comes without one.

Snow leopard 10.6.3 does not boot up. Macbook pro. When I push the start button I hear a chime and then the apple logo shows up and the spinnings circle. In a little while a grey screen comes on and after that a pop up telling me to shut down and restart my computer.I have done that andit still does not work. How do I fix it.?

If your MacBook Pro is a 2007 model, then Mac OS X 10.6.3 was not installed onto your MacBook Pro from its grey installation DVDs, but rather from a white Snow Leopard DVD. The white Snow Leopard DVD does not have any Apple Hardware Test; to run your Apple Hardware Test, you will need the grey installation DVDs which originally came with your MacBook Pro when it was new. If you no longer have those grey discs, you can contact Apple directly and purchase a replacement pair. (They’re not available in the Apple stores.) -

you can try this: boot your MacBook Pro from your grey Mac OS X Install DVD or your white Snow Leopard DVD. When the desktop appears, select Utilities from the menu bar, and then select Disk Utility. On the left-hand side of the Disk Utility window, select your internal disk’s boot partition (typically called “Macintosh HD”). On the right-hand side, press the Verify Disk button if it’s not greyed out; if it is greyed out, or if it reports that errors were found, press the Repair Disk button. Once the verification/repair is completed, exit Disk Utility and select Restart from the Apple menu to restart in normal mode. Does it get past the grey screen now? -
MacBook won't start up just getting a grey screen and wheel spins

I assume you do not have Lion or later installed. What do you have - Snow Leopard? If so, then try this instead:
Reinstall OS X without erasing the drive
1. Repair the Hard Drive and Permissions
Boot from your Snow Leopard Installer disc. After the installer loads select your language and click on the Continue button. When the menu bar appears select Disk Utility from the Utilities menu. After DU loads select your hard drive entry (mfgr.'s ID and drive size) from the the left side list. In the DU status area you will see an entry for the S.M.A.R.T. status of the hard drive. If it does not say "Verified" then the hard drive is failing or failed. (SMART status is not reported on external Firewire or USB drives.) If the drive is "Verified" then select your OS X volume from the list on the left (sub-entry below the drive entry,) click on the First Aid tab, then click on the Repair Disk button. If DU reports any errors that have been fixed, then re-run Repair Disk until no errors are reported. If no errors are reported click on the Repair Permissions button. Wait until the operation completes, then quit DU and return to the installer.
If DU reports errors it cannot fix, then you will need Disk Warrior and/or Tech Tool Pro to repair the drive. If you don't have either of them or if neither of them can fix the drive, then you will need to reformat the drive and reinstall OS X.
2. Reinstall Snow Leopard
If the drive is OK then quit DU and return to the installer. Proceed with reinstalling OS X. Note that the Snow Leopard installer will not erase your drive or disturb your files. After installing a fresh copy of OS X the installer will move your Home folder, third-party applications, support items, and network preferences into the newly installed system.
Download and install Mac OS X 10.6.8 Update Combo v1.1. -
I can't upgrade my apps I get a white screen and when I click on it nothing.
I need help with my upgrades they show a white page and won't upgrade. I have been able to before.
You are not alone. This is a problem that many users are experiencing now and have been seeing for days. Apple is working on the fix for this.
According to Fly150 in another discussion, this will work.
If you want to update the Apps while waiting for Apple to fix Updates:
1. Go to App Store
2. Select Purchased
3. Select All
4. Scroll down to find the Apps showing update
5. Select update on the Apps
This should update the Apps and get rid of the update count in App Store. Apple needs to fix this, because you cant fix it. It is a workaround only.
if nothing else works, update the apps in iTunes on your computer and sync them to the iPad. -

Couple thoughts:
(1) Does Firefox still seem to have an active window "somewhere" based on having a tile on the Windows 7 Task Bar?
If so, how did you try to maximize it?

If you want to test a neutral page first, make sure all Firefox windows are closed, then start up Firefox from the Start menu search box using:

When I boot up my I get a grey screen with a flashing folder with a question mark
I was trying to set up a bootable Linux flash drive for another computer using UNetbootin and I accidentally selected an empty partition on my hard drive instead of the USB I was trying to use. It went through the install process, and I didn't realize it was on my computer rather than the USB. The computer worked fine, so I thought nothing of it.
Today, I go to mess with my computer and it is frozen at the login screen. I restart it, and now I just get a blinking folder with a question mark. I try to go into recovery, but it isn't there. Internet Recovery works fine, but when I go to use Disk Utility or to reinstall the OS it cannot find the internal Hard Disk.
What am I supposed to do here? I don't want to lose all my data.greenbil1
You can contact AppleCare to buy a replacement set of the oringinal Install discs for a nominal cost. You will need the serial number and a credit card to place the order.
