When i turn on my iPad I cannot access my home screen, it tells me to connect to iTunes but my iPad is not recognized by my computer. please help, i need my iPad for schoolwork.

I had a jailbroken iPad and i was using iTunes to update my iPad and then re-boot it to the factory settings, however, mid-update my router was turned off and my iTunes crashed. like i said my ipad is very important for my education and i need help as soon as possible.
