When my iphone4 is locked and I get a message, the sound does not go off when my phone is not on silent there fore i do not know when i have a message. Help?
So my iphone 4 is about 2 years old. Whenever I receive a message, my phone does not vibrate or make a sound. This happens even when my phone is not on silent, I dont know why this has happened. However when I receive a call, my phone goes off. I dont know why this happens. Am i the only one that's experienced this?
Yes i have, and its all set to be fine. When my phone is unlocked all the sounds work, it's only when it is locked

My ipad is hung with the dialogue box saying "this iPad hasn't been backed up in 4 weeks. Backup happen when this iPad is plugged in, locked and connected to WiFi". Even after doing that, I am not able to do anything with the iPad - neither able to reboot nor able to get to the homescreen. The dialogue box doesn't go at all even after pressing OK a hundred times. I treid tacking the back up through itunes and through 3G conncetion but of no avail. Please help
I too have been having this issue since about 12/14. That is around the same time I got the Ipad for my kids. I am unsure if it is related. I have tried logging out of icloud/deleting it and trying again. Removing most of the apps to sync. I reset my router. All of the attempts have produced zero results. I recently had to restore my Iphone 4s and ever since I cannot double click the home button whilst the phone is locked and change my music. The controls come up and I can adjust the volume but I cannot change the songs. Help needed please!!
Have you guys been able to activate your iphone yet? I bought an iphone 4s from eBay and it worked fine, but the previous user had left some data on it, so last night I used the "erased all content and settings" to restore it to factory setting so I can start fresh and restore my backup. But now I'm stuck at the activation screen (I get the same "the activation server is temporarily unavailable") and can't get it to activate, even if I use my old deactivated AT&T sim card (I'm on straighttalk now).
I might try activating it with an active AT&T sim card from my fiancee's phone when she gets home, so I'll let you know how that works outs.
If it's true that the server is down; anyone know when it will be back up again? Thanks in advance.

When I run root.sh and I get following errors. There are two nodes configured on Solaris 10 for Oracle Database 10g RAC Release 10.2.0.1. I am using openfiler 2.3. and ISCSI for data storage. I have create file system OCR & VOT as Raw device and formatted these devices in Solaris skipping ocr voting disk for the first 1MB to avoid overwriting the disk VTOC. Network configuration and disk permissions are set correctly. I have installed the RAC on the same machines a few months ago for training purpose and everything was working very well. Last week, my openfiler hard disk has died. I have cleared the CRS and database on the same machines and wanted to reinstall oracle RAC on Solaris but now have following problems when I run root.sh from first node I get following errors. Please help me to fix this problem.

how would my iPhone4s help a stranger/Police/Medic to know my identiy. The iphone4s is locked and the app for I.C.E. cannot be opened. I am now considered Jane Doe cause I dont have any ID on me.
If you're concerned, you could always create wallpaper with some sort of ID/contact information and place it on the lock screen. I wouldn't suggest using any direct contact for you, of course, for privacy reasons, but perhaps some sort of "neutral" emergency contact such as a relative's cell phone.
Or just carry some sort of ID; depending on a cell phone for identification probably isn't reliable regardless of the phone used. A MedicAlert bracelet or something similar might be your best option since that would allow emergency responders to get your information while still protecting your privacy.

Recently, I can't get any sound from my game applications. Sound works fine with video, streaming, etc, but not my game applications. I've tried powering down and re-booting, but the sound does not return. Can anyone help me?
Have you got notifications muted ? Only notifications (including games) get muted, so the Music and Videos apps, and headphones, still get sound.
Depending on what you've got Settings > General > Use Side Switch To set to (mute or rotation lock), then you can mute notifications by the switch on the right hand side of the iPad above the volume switch, or via control centre : swipe up from the bottom edge of the screen and it's the right-most of the 5 icons in the middle of it (if the icon is white then it's 'on', tap it to turn it grey and 'off'). Select the login keychain from the list on the left side of the Keychain Access window. If your default keychain has a different name, select that.
If the lock icon in the top left corner of the window shows that the keychain is locked, click to unlock it. You'll be prompted for the keychain password, which is the same as your login password, unless you've changed it.
Right-click or control-click the login entry in the list. From the menu that pops up, select Change Settings for Keychain "login". In the sheet that opens, uncheck both boxes, if not already unchecked.

I am getting no sound on my macbook pro. The sound does not play when I plug in headphones either. I have tried making it louder quieter, restarting my computer, HELP!
There are many possible causes for this issue. Take each of the following steps that you haven't already tried.
1. Start with the steps recommended in this support article. Don't skip any of the steps. It's the starting point for further efforts to solve the problem.
2. If your model has an audio-out (headphone) port, and anything is plugged in, unplug it before putting the system to sleep.
3. If you've installed something called "Memory Clean" or any other third-party software that is supposed to "clean" or "purge" memory automatically, remove it according to the developer's instructions and reboot. You should do that even if the software is not causing the problem, because it's useless.
4. If you've installed an equalizer called "Boom" or anything similar, update or delete it and reboot.
5. If an AirPlay device is selected for sound output from iTunes (or from other applications via third-party software such as "Airfoil"), deselect it.
6. Launch the application "Audio MIDI Setup" by entering the first few letters of its name in a Spotlight search and selecting it in the results (it should be at the top.) Select the Output tab. If the Mute boxes are checked, uncheck them. Move the Volume sliders all the way to the right.
7. If a red light is coming from the audio-out port, the internal switch is stuck in the position for digital output. You may be able to free it by inserting and removing a mini-stereo jack of the proper size. Inserting any kind of tool in the port may cause damage that won't be covered by your warranty.
If there's no red light, the switch may still be stuck in the headphone position. Try to free it the same way.
8. Disconnect all wired peripherals except keyboard and mouse, if applicable. If more than one display is connected, disconnect all extra ones. Reboot and test.
9. Boot in safe mode. Don't log in; just reboot as usual when the login screen appears. When you do, make sure the words "Safe Boot" do not appear in the login screen. If they do, the system is still in safe mode and sound won't work.
10. Reset the NVRAM.
11. Reset the SMC.
12. Reinstall OS X after backing up all data. For a possible shortcut, see this thread.
13. Make a "Genius" appointment at an Apple Store. -
