Where do i find software update path

I have a macbook bound to AD and OD
When we run software updates it pulls from our OD Server and on the update window it shows
the Name of the OD server. However on some systems it shows the OD name but still downloads
from the Internet.
I would like to find out where I can see the actual software update path to so that I can confirm
what the path actually is despite what it says in the update window

Hi
"If a machine is updating from the internet should that plist file be empty?"
Yes.
If the client machine is not bound to OD but SUS is running on the Mac Server then the command outlined on Pages 88-89 in the Admin Manual:
http://manuals.info.apple.com/en_US/SystemImage_v10.6.pdf
issued on the client machine will cause the client machine to 'get' its updates from the Mac Server and not the Internet. The Manual is for 10.6 but will work for 10.7. If you apply the command the plist should then contain the URL of the Mac Server.
If the client machine is bound to AD & OD then you can apply a User, Group or Hardware MCX (your choice) for Software Update which points to your Mac Server. You don't need to be bound to AD for this to work. As long as the client machine is bound to OD and DNS is working as it should be, this will work. Again you won't see anything in the plist stored in /Library/Preferences. MCX plists are stored in /Library/Managed Preferences.

  • HT4623 Can't find software update on my ipad

How do I update to ios5? Where do I find software updates on my iPad?

If you have an iPad 1, the max iOS is 5.1.1. For newer iPads, the current iOS is 6.1. The Settings>General>Software Update only appears if you have iOS 5.0 or higher currently installed.

If you are currently running an iOS lower than 5.0, connect the iPad to the computer, open iTunes. Then select the iPad under the Devices heading on the left, click on the Summary tab and then click on Check for Update.
Tip - If connected to your computer, you may need to disable your firewall and anitvirus software temporarily.  Then download and install the iOS update. Be sure and backup your iPad before the iOS update. After you update an iPad (except iPad 1) to iOS 6.x, the next update can be installed via wifi (i.e., not connected to your computer).
Tip 2 - If you are updating using wifi, locate your iPad close to your router so you don't get a wifi dropout (can cause update corruption).

  • I can no longer find Software Update on my laptop.  Running 10.10.1.  What happened to it?  Where did it go?

I am running 10.10.1 MacBook Pro (Retina,15-inch, Late 2013) w/ 2 GHz Intel Core i7, and can no longer find Software Update on my laptop.  It is not in the menu under the Apple logo.  It canot be found in the applications list through Preferences.
Can someone please explain what happened to it?
    Where did it go?
    Why?
    Thank you!

The Software Update item in the Apple menu has been REPLACED by the App Store. It is still present in the system if you go to About This Mac, where you will see "Software Update..." as one of the buttons in the Overview section of the information window that appears. The difference here is that the App Store menu option will only launch the App Store's main landing page, whereas the Software Update button will launch the store and then check for any system and other updates available.

You likely have a 2G iPod and those can go higher than 4.2.1
    A 3G can go to 5.1.1
IA 4G, with cameras can go to iOS 6.1.6.
The 5G, also with cameras can go to iOS 8

You cannot update to iOS 5, it's no longer an available. You can only update to the latsest available iOS for your device. For the iPhone 4 that's iOS 6.0.1. The option you are looking for to update over-the-air requires iOS 5 or later. With iOS 4 you need to use iTunes on a Mac or PC to update the iOS. Follow the instructions on the Support Page you linked from.

I couldn't find software update  Setting-General to update my IOS 4.1  version Ipod touch to IOS 5 or last version. Where can I find? Could you help me please?

You must be running iOS 5 or later for WiFi updating. You must use iTunes. You must have an iPod Touch model that supports at least iOS 5. That means a 3G Touch. See Identifying iPod models.

  • Where can I find the update to fix the problem with the trackpad acting up?

My trackpad has been acting up lately, with the arrow going everywhere by itself, and not being able to control it. I googled and found that it's a common problem for the 2011 Macbook Pros, and that Apple had released an update to fix the problem. Where can I find the update on the Apple site?

If an update is available, it will appear when you select Apple menu > Software Update...

  • Where can I find ipod updater so iTunes 10 will see my scrollwheel 10G ipod?

Where can I find ipod updater so iTunes 10 will see my scrollwheel 10G ipod?
I used it exclusively on an old iBook. (POS from the beginning - bad motherboard, replaced, went bad just out of warranty. So I use it for only certain things.)
Now I want to load the scrollwheel ipod (also POS, bad motherboard where the headphones plug in, can't be repaired) from my iTunes 10 machine.
iTunes 10 does not see the ipod with it's 1.2.6 software.   iTunes 7.5 sees it but will no longer update itself or the ipod.
    - my sig:  Whatever we're talking about, please don't tell me to buy a new one unless you're willing to pay for it.  Thanks.

A "scrollwheel 10G" (10 GB) iPod may be 3rd gen...  If it's a 3rd gen iPod, the one with a "scrollwheel" and four "touch" buttons in a row between the screen and wheel (that glow orange), it will only work properly with a FireWire connection.  Although it has a dock connector, it does not charge over a USB connection.  If you Mac has a FireWire 800 port, you can use an adapter to connect to the old FireWire (400) docking cable.
Mine still works perfectly (it's had a few battery replacements) with the latest iTunes and Mac OS X 10.7.4.  I think it has great sound...

Where is "Boot Camp Software Update 3.1 for Windows 64 bit"??

Did you try just 3.2 update?
    http://support.apple.com/kb/DL979
I find this "you need 3.0 first" then have to install year old 3.1, and only then can you install 3.2? what kind of Windows motherboard support is that?
And, you already have 3.0 installed off a 10.6 OS X DVD, and have you tried to use Apple Software Update (Windows obviously)? though I think the standalone updates are better and less trouble or problems. Download and keep them handy in case ever needed in the future too.
