  • Frame external web page

    Hi,
    I wish to frame an external web page with the header, side
    nav and footer of one of my internal pages.
    Here is an example of a page where the external page is
    framed by the header with nav links working?
    How can I do this using DW MX 2004?
    Thanks

  • New NI CompactRIO calls the question, "¿Quien is mas macho, Intel quad-core Atom or 4-year-old i7?"

    Perhaps you remember the Saturday Night Live TV sketch from 1979 where Bill Murray played a game show host who asked the show’s titular question, “¿Quien es mas macho?”
    Today, Matt Spexarth, Principal Product Manager for Embedded Systems at National Instruments (NI), called the NI CompactRIO controller introduced this week at NI Week—the model cRIO-9039, which pairs a 1.91GHz, quad-core Intel Atom CPU with a Xilinx Kintex-7 325T FPGA—the highest-performance CompactRIO ever released. That includes the existing cRIO-9082 controller, which pairs a 1.33GHz, dual-core Intel i7 CPU and a Xilinx Spartan-6 LX150 FPGA. So both the processor and the FPGA have been upgraded in the new CompactRIO controller. The NI cRIO-9039 controller es mas macho.
    NI Model cRIO-9039 Controller in an 8-slot CompactRIO Chassis
    The new NI CompactRIO controller runs security-enhanced NI Linux Real-Time. It has an SDHC card slot for non-volatile storage and can directly operate a local, graphical UI (user interface) as a human-machine interface. Another key performance feature, noted Spexarth, is a bank of DDR3 SDRAM attached directly to the Kintex-7 FPGA to allow the FPGA to directly handle large data sets, to process large FFTs for example.
    As with the entire line of NI CompactRIO controllers, you program the cRIO-9039 controller using NI’s LabVIEW graphical development environment with its many add-on modules including LabVIEW FPGA. In addition, the new CompactRIO controller maintain compatibility with the many CompactRIO plug-in I/O hardware modules.

    Whygirl,
    it reads as though an internal disk upgrade (and possibly a battery replacement) would suffice for you, and those two together would be far less expensive than a new MacBook Pro. Yes, you could install either a HDD or a SSD in place of its current internal HDD. You could look at the Hitachi Travelstar 7K1000 as an example of a suitable 1 TB HDD; SSDs are more expensive per unit of storage than a HDD, but might be worth the extra cost if your apps are disk-bound. (I put a Samsung 840 PRO into my 13-inch Mid 2010 model, and it’s been working well.) Note that Chrome might be responsible for the extra heat (and the extra heat is responsible for the increased volume from the fans kicking in); Chrome isn’t optimized for use on 64-bit versions of OS X, like 10.8.5.

  • Apply Template Body unresolved

    I have a page that I would like to apply a template to. I sue
    the following
    steps:
    1- open the page
    2- modify> templates>apply template to page
    3- choose the correct template within the corresponding site
    template folder
    4- I then get the message of areas being unresolved.
    One on the areas is the head content which I set to head the
    other is the
    problem. It tells me the "body" is unresolved. I can't place
    the entire body
    of the doc in the one and only editable region, so what is
    the problem. Why
    is the body coming up as unresolved?
    Kim

    Yes, I guess your right. I will approach him with this and
    see what type of
    reaction I get.
    Thanks,
    Kim

    Thanks to your excellent book, I have now implemented an
    array of page
    names -
    $pages['eng']=array('index.php' => 'HOME','a_diets.php'
    => 'Feed &amp; Lab
    Diets','a_seeds.php' => 'Seeds','a_supplies.php' =>
    'Supplies','a_organics.php' => 'Agricultural
    Organics','a_equipment.php' =>
    'New &amp; Used Equipment','a_grains.php' =>
    'Grains','a_contact.php' =>
    'Contact Us');
    $pages['esp']=array('/esp/' => 'P&Aacute;GINA
    INICIAL', 'a_dietas.php' =>
    'Forraje &amp; Dietas de Laboratorio','a_semillas.php'
    =>
    'Semillas','a_suministros.php' =>
    'Suministros','a_organica.php' =>
    'Agrocultura Org&aacute;nica','a_maquinaria.php' =>
    'Maquinaria Nueva &amp;
    Usada','a_granos.php' => 'Granos','a_contactenos.php'
    =>
    'Cont&aacute;ctenos');
    allowing me to easily change from English menus to Spanish
    menus by just
    changing the variable "$language" from 'eng' to 'esp'.
    Then, I have made the menu using a for loop -
    <div id="leftNav">
    <ul>
    <?php
    $counter=1;
    foreach ($pages[$language] as $file => $listing) {
    echo "<li><a href='$file'
    id=".'"button'.$counter.'">'.$listing.'</a></li>'."\n";
    $counter++;
    ?>
    </ul>
    <img src="../images/footer.gif" width="223" height="67"
    alt="Footer text"
    />
    <!-- /leftNav -->
    </div>
    And it works nicely, I think!

  • Making a living with Dreamweaver; where's the beef?

    Circumstances have put me in a situation where I need to put my Internet design/development skills to work as a self-employed person. My previous experience has always been in the corporate cubicle environment. For those of you here who are successfully self employed, where are some good places to look for information about making the right decisions and avoiding the mistakes? I found some highly recommended books for sale at Amazon, but noticed they're written for bricks-and-mortar entrepreneur types, not nerds with a service to offer. Tips?

    Murray has offered some good suggestions. Here's a few more:
    Register a domain and start a website for your nascent company. Make it as good as you can make it. Get business cards printed and spend a bit of time either getting a logo (having a great designer design it) or by doing it yourself. Find yourself a very good hosting company that answers its tech support phone 24/7 and prepare to set up a VPS with that company. VPSs tend to run $400 - $500 annually, but you can put loads of websites on them and charge the going annual rate for an hosted website for each one, pocketing the profit.
    Join your local Chamber of Commerce. Go to Chamber meetups and, especially multi-chamber events. Hand out your business card and follow up. Learn to do a 30 second commercial about yourself and your company and tell people at these meetups exactly what you are looking for (eg: "This week, I'm looking for restaurants that need to put their entire menu on-line so that they can entice more to reserve").
    If you don't own a copy of Dreamweaver, get one. Also get a copy of Photoshop. Experiment with your own website. learn to do things faster. I literally live in these two applications and do websites for small businesses.
    I would try to learn either one server-side language (that is supported by your hosting company) or one client-side language (which ususally means Javascript) in the next year along with HTML and CSS. Be disciplined about learning new stuff.
    Keep good books. I realize that you will find that your earnings are depressing at first and you'll want to not even balance your checkbook. Don't give in to that temptation. Every purchase you make for your business is a tax-deduction. Every mile you drive to see a client is, too. Record everything and keep everything together. See a CPA this fall to set yourself up to save money come tax time in April. You might consider using either Quicken or Quickbooks Pro -- but you should get a categories list from a CPA that you will use next year so that he or she will be prepared for the kinds of things you are spending money on.
    Do not do a templated website and then do the same website for every client you come across. Make sure that what you do can be adapted to any kind of look you might want.
    Realize that Dreamweaver "plugins" will save you lots of time, but never directly charge a client for one. Any plugin you purchase needs to work for several clients and one client ought not have to pay for the entire purchase, which is supposed to make you faster.
    Realize that any technique done in any plugin also lives out there on the Internet. this includes drop-down menus, jQuery effects, image rotators, accordions and so on. The advantage of a plugin is to save you time so, if you are pressed for time, buy what fits your client's needs and try to make it pay you back with the next several clients.
    Keep track of your hours spent on each client so that you know how long it takes to do a website. Then make sure you're making more than minimum wage when you quote one.
    Do not do any website without a contract. Consult with a good attorney and set up your company and design a standard contract that you will have everyone sign before you start work. Always require a deposit for your work. Always insist on payment in full before you launch a website. I like my work, but I like my work for free not at all. My company is an LLC and that keeps anyone from going after anything I own, like my house, my car and so on. I have to pay an annual Business Entity Tax in my state, but it's an insurance policy that is more than worth it.
    Now, I am certain my suggestions have all ready bankrupted you in purchases and fees. But I have fewer headaches because I set things up before I really knew what I was doing.
    Now that I know a little more, I am very pleased to show it off a little.

  • Flash not displaying in Firefox [was: Murray *ACE*]

    Hi all with regards to Murrays reply to my message in HTML Discussion, i have a problem with my site i uploaded it to test it out on my server and it works fine on Internet Explorer, but when i visit the site with Mozilla Firefox its comes up where the flash display should be saying:
    Fail (the browser should render some flash content, not this)
    Is this because i dont have a Mozilla Flash Plug in?
    Address is :www.broadlandmedia.co.uk
    This is not the final version of the site but i was wanting to use the flash header as displayed in windows explorer.
    Thanks in advance

    In IE, I've got this weird box where the apostrophe should

    For example, I'm seeing it in this page, in the second

    It's probably a curly quote pasted in from Word. Please
    replace with the
    proper HTML entities, e.g.,
    <p>Haven&rsquo;t you seen him?</p>

  • How can I see how often and where an image is used in the site?

    Just realized the post appeared twice as at first sending I
    got an error page (contains no data...).
    So, please do all answer to the other post, so that all
    replies get collected at one post only.
    Hello,
    please excuse my maybe dumb question but converting from
    GoLive I am still trying to find several practical effective
    workflow features in DW ...
    1. where in the sitewindow/assets or files panel can I see an
    indication at each image if and how often it is used in a site?
    2. and where can I see/check on which pages it is used?
    Thanks in advance for guiding me there ...
    bye,
    Beate

    > How do DW users know how often and where an image is
    used on the site
    > then?
    I'm not sure what the benefit is of knowing how often an
    image is used, but
    a search for the image by filename would do the trick.
    And just so you'll know, this is a peer forum, not an
    official communication
    vehicle to Adobe. We are all just users here, not Adobe
    employees.

  • Where's the Snippets

    Dreamweaver has always saved the snippets that you make in an
    undisclosed location. When I reload the system or move to another
    machine, I lose them all.
    I would be great if there was a way to just save a copy in
    Dreamweaver like you can save color palettes or brushes in
    photoshop.
    Where are my personal snippets on a Windows System.(Vista)?

  • Where are my pages in Map View?

    Hi,
    I am somewhat of a newbie as far as DW is concerned. I have
    created my first site using Flash CS3, and although there are over
    20 pages, when I look at the Map View in DW CS3 all is see is the
    index.html page, with the home.html page staggered off of it, and
    no other pages.
    I am unsure as to whether this will effect search engine
    results. Is it important that this Map View be sorted out, and if
    so, any ideas where I have went wrong?
    Thank you in advance.
    Hugh

    You have just empirically discovered one of the major
    disadvantages to
    building an all-flash site. The links cannot be found. Search
    engines have
    the same problem. This means that in the absence of
    redundant, HTML only,
    links, your site will not be indexed by search engines, and
    will be totally
    inaccessible to those using any screen assistive devices, as
    well as to
    those who choose not to install the Flash player for whatever
    reason.
    Thus - what you see in the Map view is all you will ever see
    on an all-Flash
    site without this redundant navigation.

  • Where is Find and Replace?!?

    I have been using DW 8 on my computer (Apple OS 10.4.11)
    successfully for about a year. Just this week the Find and Replace
    function stopped working. I can press Apple + F and I get nothing,
    no popup windows or anything. I can go to Edit>Find and Replace
    and I get nothing. If I go to Edit> Find Selection I get the
    popup window, but it doesn't have anything in it and I don't see a
    way to get the Find and Replace screen to popup from there. I have
    restarted my computer and DW several times. Anyone know how to fix
    this?

    Try this:
    1. in SiteManager, EXPORT the current site's definition.
    2. REMOVE the site.
    3. IMPORT the definition you just exported.
    Better now?

  • Message for......Murray *ACE*

    Hi, i decided against sending you an email.
    You said that i could do this using tables how may i do this.
    i have come up with what i think is a better description of
    what i am after.
    I wish to simply have the music that is playing in one hidden
    table that refreshes every 20 secs as it play different music.
    it also updates another table that will contain the track
    name that is being played.
    the left hand table plays music and i wish for the track
    playing to be shown in a table that is in the right hand table.
    the right hand table is split into two the bottom is where
    the track name is shown the top part is the main site that can be
    browsed while the music continues to play unintrupted.
    can all this be done using table?
    thank you in advance for your help.
    Jason

    Sorry - I don't think I can really help you with this.
    But - if you look at the code in the music frame you can see
    this -
    <META HTTP-EQUIV=Refresh CONTENT="25;
    URL=http://www.wordofmouthdisco.co.uk/musicframe.php">
    Lene Marlin - Sitting down here.wav<script
    language="JavaScript"
    type="text/JavaScript">
    function cge(){
    var track = " <b> Lene Marlin - Sitting down here.wav
    </b> ";
    win2=window.parent.mainFrame.document;
    win2.getElementById('TrackInfoLayer1').innerHTML = track;
    return;
    </script>
    </head>
    The page refreshes every 25 seconds by virtue of the meta
    refresh. Each time
    it refreshes, it loads a random clip into the music frame
    (you don't see
    that random load since it's written to the page by the PHP
    scripting, which
    is stripped by the server before uploading the page to the
    browser), and it
    loads the track name into the layer on that page called
    'TrackInfoLayer1".
    What you would need to do is to figure out how to make that
    track info load
    into a table in the other frame.
    I don't work with frames or with music, so I'm not too fluent
    with methods
    for managing these things....
