Its been months since news that ceo Sim declared war on apple with its marketing campaign - but I have yet to notice significant ads like the Ipod's U2 tv spots, which I think is terrific... almost as good as the heineken beer commercial
Has there been anything else in other parts of the world?

I havent seen an advertisement from Creative in my region. Miami, FL.
Where is the advertisement going?
Is this company really going to be a player in the MP3 market. It seems that Sony with its new MP lineup has done more noise than Creative has ever done. I read that Creative had an MP before Apple?, so much for technological advantage. I doubt Creative will make it, they havent shown the public anything. Like i stated before everyone loves my product, but have never heard of it. I could not find this product anywhere in south florida, no store carries it.

The GDP of Ethiopia is $1,300 per capita, per year and it ranks 211th in the world. Since Apple is a commercial enterprise, it would be strange to offer a product that costs most of the annual income of an average person.
I sincerely hope that it does continue to develop to the point that companies like Apple would be interested in opening stores.

Am I getting SCAMMED? Where's my code for the $100 Trade in Offer?

I recieved emails for the entire month of September - "Trade in your old phone for a Smart Phone and recieve a $100 visa gift card."
So I thought about it and on Friday September 30th, I went down to my local Verizon Store to upgade my phone.
I was eligiable in May of 2011 for the two year upgrade. The Verizon representative checked my phone and my account and said that I was eligible for BOTH the two year upgrade AND the $100 Trade-In promotion.
I upgraded to the LG Enlighten (my first smartphone) and added (for the first time) a 2 Gig Data package.
I was told it would take 3 to 5 business days to recieve a TEXT or EMAIL from Verizon with a CODE to begin the TRADE-IN process.
Wll October 7, 2011 (5 full business days) came and went...and guess what?
NO CODE!!!!
Why?
So I called Verizon customer service and was told to call 866-870-5445 (the Trade-In Center). Well guess what? They're closed. Only open Monday through Friday.
Now I am reading all these posts where Verizon is not sending people codes, losing phones and giving less than the $100 credit and boy is it making me MAD.
How hard is it to send a text message with the CODE? Why don't I have it? They have the right EMAIL on file. I've confirmed it three times now...and still no code.
Just TXT it to my NEW PHONE!...same number and Verizon knows it. What's the problem?
I'm not happy about this. This needs to be handled much better.

I never received an email, phone, letter or any other correspondence from Verizon regarding the 2nd phone we sent in so I started calling them.
First call 12/5/11:VerizonÂ… havenÂ’t received phone yet. I gave them the tracking number as I was tracking it online myself. It was delivered in September! Apology for the delay it will be processed and mailed to you tomorrow 12/6/11. NO CARD, NO EMAIL, NO PHONE CALL.
Second call 1/11/12 Verizon: it went to the wrong department but we will submit the request and have it mailed out to you with in the next 24 to 48 hours. (I verified the same person, at the same address, signed for the receipt of my returned phone) NO CARD, NO EMAIL, NO PHONE CALL.
Third call 1/17/12 Verizon: (this is now the 5th person I have talked to) I get transferred to Â“STERLINGÂ” a so called Â“supervisorÂ” in the Trade In Department in Nashville. I am, again, told the phone was sent to our donation department so we can not send you the $100. He was rude and arrogant and I finally hung up on him.
In a rage I sent 4 emails, one right after the other, to the "Contact Us" email on their web page threatening a Class Action Suite!. (sorry I didn't copy and paste them to word and save them) The next day I got this email email.

Transfering 100+million records

Hi Guys
i have source table (TAB1) having 100+ million records.. needs to copy to another database... to reduce the numbers... created the join with another table (TAB2) which reduced it to 10+ million records but data services taking long time (almost 40 minutes) to show the numbers (1000) in monitor.
See the attached pic for the dataflow created..
could you guys please help me to let me know what is the best practice to implement same in less time...
DS4.2 on windows server 2008
Data Services server has 32 GB RAM (out of which this job is using 6GB only)
SQL SERVER has 64 GB RAM (out of which this job is using 22GB only)

Does that mean you don't have access to your target db either? Because that's where you create your linked server.
Anyway, try and put your join and filter conditions directly in the query transform, under the FROM-tabs and WHERE-tabs, i.e. without using a global variable. The sql generated will look like:
     SELECT tab1.* FROM TAB1
     INNER JOIN TAB2
     ON tab1.c1 = tab2.c2
     WHERE tab2.date >= <fromdate>
If you then set the "Transfer type" of the Data_Transfer transform to "Table" and make sure that the temp table is created in your source db (I hope you'll have the authorisation to do so), you will get:
     INSERT INTO temp
     SELECT tab1.* FROM TAB1
     INNER JOIN TAB2
     ON tab1.c1 = tab2.c2
     WHERE tab2.date >= <fromdate>
This bypasses DS processing completely and most probably will be the best you can achieve if you cannot touch your db environment itself.
On another note, the native MS SQL Server client 2008 will outperform any ODBC driver.

I probably just missed something stupid but I could use some help please.

Every financial institution (bank, credit union,...), every news outlet (print/TV/Radio/blog) reaches out to millions of elderdly folks and other non-geeks and tells them to run away as soon as they dont see a Key or Lock on a secured page (or maybe so-called secured page from what I get you are trying to push through).
This is a major Change Management disaster waiting to happen... Not just for Firefox but for every web site using secure transactions. Countless organisations are going to get calls from users telling them, "Your site is not secured, Oprah and CNN told me so".
Go for color scheme or other visual indicator to warn of security level, but absolutely dont lose the icon !

How do you get the trade in code for the $100 gift card?

On January 28, I activated a Samsung S4 that I had mail ordered from Verizon Wireless. I went to the online chat service to find out about the $100 trade in for my functioning Moto Bionic, and after some back and forth, was told that they could not help me and I had to call customer support.
I generally prefer not to call because of the waiting time, but on several of my calls on this I have actually gotten through fairly quickly (i.e. under five minutes of wait). So, on the first call, I was told to fill out the form on the trade in page using the code "Smart100" where required the online form. The "Smart100" code did not work (and I tried various permutations, including initial cap, initial non-cap, space, no space, underscore_connect, all with no success).
I called back to inquire why "Smart100" did not work, and after the CSR explained case sensitivity to me (and I explained all the permutations that I had already run through before calling back), we agreed that Smart100 was just not going to work. She then went to find further information. She returned to the line to advise me that, indeed, Smart100 would not work, but that Verizon would send my phone a text of the code to enter on the trade in page within five calendar days of activation of the new phone.
I called on the sixth day, and I spoke to another CSR. She told me that the five calendar days was inaccurate, and the code would arrive on my phone within five business days.
I waited until COB on the fifth business day , and called again. However, the CSR (accurately) pointed out out that it was not yet midnight, and the code would surely arrive that evening.
Unfortunately, I still (some 2 1/2 weeks after activation) do not have the code. I have decided to try a different approach, to wit, a posting here.
Suggestions?

For whatever it's worth, I received an email back in the same day from the "Wireless Device Recycling Team" with a code that went through. I am not sure who the Recycling Team is, but this was a very positive experience after the frustrations of talking and chatting with CSR's who, while trying hard, were not well informed about this particular issue, so hats off to the Recycling Team.

Where is the "Settings" Option in Camera Raw 4.1 in Elements 5?

I'm using Elements 5 on Windows XP Home Version. Where is the "Settings" Option on RAW 4.1? On RAW 3.5 it was underneath the Histogram. I need to copy settings from a previous RAW file, so I can combine two images into one. The Help Menu on Elements 5 tells me how to do this, but the "Settings" Option it mentions isn't displayed on the screen.

Saturation affects all colors in your image.
Vibrance affects the saturation of less saturated colors only.
Recover helps bring out detail in the highlight areas of your image.
Clarity is sort of a sharpness control. To see its effect on your images you must be viewing your image at at least 100% magnification.

The 100 new features in the 3.0 update?

Does anyone know what they were? I have the spotlight search, the landscape option for texting, the voice recorder but other than that, what is there? I don't have 100 new features like it said. I don't even have the videocamera. The one thing I wanted.

I am glad there was a copy paste added but it would have been nice to use your own ringtones and I don't understand why they could not use gps for the direction of the phone too.
I am sure if they can pinpoint you on the map they could tell what direction your holding the phone on the 3g.
The cam is very poor on the 3g phone it,s more like an afterthought.
I don't understand why apple did not have the function of moving your photos and ringtones with drag and drop onto itunes rather than sync to a folder.
yes there are apps you can buy but even a £20 phone lets you do all of above without added cost to the user.
and where is the software reset for clearing the memory or is that an afterthought too.

Where's the default location of multicam clip creation

This is silly but where does the multi cam clip goes whenever I create them? I have a fairly large project (8 years compilation) with about 1500 folders on a 96 Tb RAID array and whenever I create multicam, it's no where to be found. Is there a way to sort them out by type?

It took about 8-10 min to load it up. It gradually gets worse as the project complexity increases with more in/out, color graded previews, compound clip with subtitling plug ins, etc. Today will have no choice but break it up to smaller part.
Before multicam, it was only about 1.2 Gb. But whenever I add more multicam (about 3 hours from 6 cams all with AVC-I 100 codec), it grew to about 1 Gb more to about 2.2 Gb. There's no way I would want a 10 Gb+ library with the rate I'm going. I have about a dozen more multicam sequences from the 8 years of the doc. So have to chunk it to per year so that the library size is more manageable. Doing non-native media (rewrapped in FCP 7.0.3 from MXF-MOV) helps tremendously to decrease the library file size. For example, if I import native AVC-I 100 P2 files, the size instantly increases to 600 Gb for about 2.1 Tb worth of P2 media. For those who're doing all 4K workflow - I can only imagine the gigantic expense if this was all shot natively raw at 4K. It's just not practical yet until there's a single 12 Tb SATA-4 hdd. Now the largest single hdd is 6 Tb. Perhaps another 5 years for a it to be doubled from 2014. I've seen this trend since 2003.

Where's the metadata for STORE IN clause of a table with partition?

I created a table with a range-interval partition with STORE IN clause. It's definition:

I can not find the metadata for STORE IN clause in ALL_TAB_PARTITIONS, ALL_TABLES. Where is the metadata for the STORE IN clause? How can I find the tablespace list (TSP_1, TSP_2, TSP_3)?

DBMS_METADATA.GET_DDL returns the definition of the table. But I just need the value of the tablespace list, for example, TSP_1, TSP_2, TSP_3. Is there any view which stored the value?

How to Load 100 Million Rows in Partioned Table

I have a Table with 5 columns
For ex- A,B,C,D,DATE_TIME
I CREATED THE RANGE (DAILY) PARTIONED TABLE ON COLUMN (DATE_TIME).
AS WELL CREATED NUMBER OF INDEX FOR EX,
INDEX ON A
COMPOSITE INDEX ON DATE_TIME,B,C
REQUIREMENT
NEED TO LOAD APPROX 100 MILLION RECORDS IN THIS TABLE EVERYDAY ( IT WILL LOAD VIA SQL LOADER OR FROM TEMP TABLE (INSERT INTO ORIG SELECT * FROM TEMP)...

TABLE IS INDEXED SO I AM NOT ABLE TO USE SQLLDR FEATURE DIRECT=TRUE.
SO LET ME KNOW WHAT THE BEST AVILABLE WAY TO LOAD THE DATA IN THIS TABLE ????
Note--> PLEASE REMEMBER I CAN'T DROP AND CREATE INDEX DAILY DUE TO HUGE DATA QUANTITY.

Actually a simpler issue then what you seem to think it is.
Q. What is the most expensive and slow operation on a database server?
A. I/O. The more I/O, the more latency there is, the longer the wait times are, the bigger the response times are, etc.
So how do you deal with VLT's? By minimizing I/O. For example, using direct loads/inserts (see SQL APPEND hint) means less I/O as we are only using empty data blocks. Doing one pass through the data (e.g. apply transformations as part of the INSERT and not afterwards via UPDATEs) means less I/O. Applying proper filter criteria. Etc.
Okay, what do you do when you cannot minimize I/O anymore? In that case, you need to look at processing that I/O volume in parallel. Instead of serially reading and writing a 100 million rows, you (for example) use 10 processes that each reads and writes 10 million rows. I/O bandwidth is there to be used. It is extremely unlikely that a single process can fully utilised the available I/O bandwidth. So use more processes, each processing a chunk of data, to use more of that available I/O bandwidth.
Lastly, think DDL before DML when dealing with VLT's. For example, a CTAS to create a new data set and then doing a partition exchange to make that new data set part of the destination table, is a lot faster than deleting that partition's data directly, and then running a INSERT to refresh that partition's data.
That in a nutshell is about it - think I/O and think of ways to use it as effectively as possible. With VLT's and VLDB's one cannot afford to waste I/O.

Where is the "iTunes" menu?

I'm a little new to iTunes and already hating it 100%. I want to rip a CD to mp3 format and the iTunes "help" says that I can change this preference by going to "iTunes>Preferences...".
I have NO "iTunes" menu. This is iTunes version 8. The ONLY menus that appear at the top are:
File
Edit
View
Controls
Store
Advanced
Help
NONE of these has a "Preferences" submenu. Where is the mysterious "iTunes" menu that help tells me to go to? Geez this is frustrating and completely user unfriendly.
