Where to include my GUI?

Hai,
I am doing an RMI application has a server that connects to the database and fetches results. The Client class calls 'those' methods and displays to the user. I have a doubt - where do I put my GUI, I mean the user interface where the user enters values for search? I surmise it should be a part of the client class. Am I right?
Not very clear about how all 3 interact. Please explain !!!

yes..put ur GUI in the client side..when the client invoke the remote method that reside in the server, the server returns back the result to the client. Ur GUI need to be in the client bcos the invocation made by the client is from ur parameter that u pass to the remote reference object.

Where to include custo object types in workflow events?

One of my friend is working on HR related Workflow. He has a question about where to include the custom change document infotypes in workflow events.
To make it clear, he says there are three transactions swehr1, swehr2 and swehr3. Now, if he wants to include a custom object (Z object) which transaction should he use?

Yes, you use swehr1 to link the infotype to the object type. Then use swehr3 to create the event linkage to your function module or object type event.
I just did this with an e-recruiting project and it worked fine. For example:
swehr1 entry:
NB Requisition 5131 Persons Responsible ZERC_REQUI Job Requisition
swehr3 entry:
NB Requisition 5131 Persons Responsible INS 0 ZERC_REQUI Z_ON_MEMBER_ADD
This accomplishes the following: when a record is inserted for infotype 5131, the function module Z_ON_MEMBER_ADD runs. That function module decides if or which event should be raised. Alternatively I could have entered an event for the ZERC_REQUI object type, but then the event will always be raised on a 5131 record insertion, and for my application I didn't want that.

trying to use DS 5.1 to authenticate Solaris 8, I don't know where to include this object class. LDAP Setup and Configuration Guide (806-5580 from Jan 2001) refers to the slapd.user_oc.conf file that no longer exists.
Which of the ../config/schema files should we use?

Where to include the jpos.properties file?

Hi,
We have a code that needs to be run. I have used the netbeans to do it. I understand that netbeans has its own environment variables that makes the application independent. The code works in netbeans but when i try to run it in the command line, this appears:
"jpos/res/jpos.properties not found"
As i had traced it, the directory(where jpos.properties resides) which i added in the Libraries was not copied in the dist folder. It says that it "...is a directory or can't be read. Not copying the libraries."
It is very important that this jpos.properties be copied since there are a lot of abstract classes used in the code.
Does anyone know where i should include this jpos.properties file?

This page is the info in SPRO for adding a field for Free Goods Determination.
New fields for free goods determination are added in the following INCLUDES:
Header data in KOMKZ (INCLUDE in KOMK, KOMG)
Item data in KOMPZ (INCLUDE in KOMP, KOMG)
I checked and the struture KOMKZ doesnt exist, only a data element exists. So... I was wondering if it´s a error in SAP Documentation.
When u add the field in that include it will be in KOMK, I allready added a field for Pricing determination...in INCLUDE KOMKAZ, so I add also the field for Free Good in that structure...but it doesnt work, I know that in the end is just a field in KOMK, but perhaps there is some kind of validation... because Pricing determination works, but Free Goods doesn´t and I think that is because the field is in the wrong Include Structure.
Some1 could give me a hand with this ?

As mentioned the include is KOMKAZ and not KOMKZ.. Just wanted to check if code has been written in the user exits to populate that fields..
Ex:
FORM USEREXIT_PRICING_PREPARE_TKOMK in include MV45AFZZ .

Where to include java script file in JHS

Hi All,
Please help me solving this below issue.
I have to implement format mask for phone. So wat I did is, wrote an JS file and placed it under webcontent/javascript/masks.js and also in my jspx generated by JHS, in the head i wrote <afh:script src="location of script file"/>
In the phone no. field i placed onFocus, where i load my managed bean Formatmask from the session scope to call the script..
Same code our team did in ADF, its working where as the same in JHS is not. Can any one pls help me out to solve the issue.

JHeadstart generates normal ADF pages, it should work the same way as drag and drop ADF page. Did you accidentally regenerate the page loosing the script import?
What error message do you get at runtime when you open the Firefox Javascript console?
Anyway, the best place to add the library import is in /common/regions/pageConfig.jspx
which also holds the JHeadstart js libs. By adding it there, you do not need to generate your application again.

Microsoft Forefront Protection 2010 for Exchange Server - where to look in GUI

Hi there!
We have configured Forefront for Exchange on Edge server.
We have created a test subject filter and sent a test mail.
On the Administrator Console under dashboards we see that message was blocked due to spam, but we cannot find in GUI some briefer details regarding this blocked message.
How can we see in this administration console GUI which exactly message has been blocked?
Having just dashboards and not being able to open and check every blocked message is a problem.

Where has the SDM GUI gone?

In NW 6.1 you could {un,re}-deploy EARs not only through Developer Studio but also via a standalone SDM GUI (remotegui.bat/remotegui.sh). Has this handy tool been abandoned in CE 7.1?

I'm afraid the only tool delivered is the DeployView tool in the NWDS.
I guess you can try to install NWDS with a minimal set of features just to get deployview, but I haven't tested it.

Where to include Text Files?

I have am creating a j2me application that requires data access from a text file. I am using netbeans 5.5.1 mobility pack. So can anyone help me out as to where or which folder in the project directory should i store the text files so that i can access them.
Also is this the syntax to access the file correct?

the mns.file is a file from which i will be reading my data.

Which logfile are you refering to ?
I suggest you check Oracle document to get understanding of Oracle administration.
Finding logfile could be one of many steps depends on what are you trying to achieve here.

POJO Data Source where POJO includes reference to another POJO

I am new to Crystal.
I have similar requirements as the original post. POJO in Crystal is useful only when you can transparently deal with your existing POJO model and navigate all the relationships you need for the report. If I have to "flatten" complex object graph of my complex POJO model, then what benefit am I getting here?
We already have mechanism in our webapp to populate our POJOs with data from our Database using JPA/JDO queries. Basically, we dont want to hardcode any SQL or direct knowledge of database.
ReportMill (another report engine) lets you navigate all relationships in your OO model as you would in any Java class. Without such support, for each report, I have to "somehow" flatten complex model into essentially a "Row" object to satisfy Crystal? Is that what I am hearing?
Someone please help with what is possible or what is not.

I have a typical problem. The iplanet server doesn't interpret the code
from a jsp which is included in another jsp. For eg.
code for main jsp
request.getParameter("username");
<%@ include file="/jsp/ui/left_nav.jsp" %>
processing code.
Now when I start the server and the first time I load this page I get a
dearranged page which has the code of the left_nav.jsp present in the html
output.
On opening this page to edit, when a small modification is made and the file
is saved, a reload of the same page gives the proper output with all the
jsp's interpreted.

You definitely want to use a jsp include action, not a directive. The directive
happens at translation time and does not process the requested page. An action
happens at request time and treats the requested page as a new request, thus
including the results of the invoked jsp.
BTW, the include action is the tags that looks line <jsp:inculde
page="included_page.jsp" flush="true"/> or something similar (parameters can
also be specified).
The JSP 1.1 spec has more details. See sections 2.7.5 & 2.7.6 (for the include
directive and a quick comparison of the directive vs the action) and 2.13.4 (for
the include action).

Where to include connection processing methods?

In an architecture which uses JSPs as the presentation layer, and contains objects representing each table of an Oracle database (one object per table), should the connection processing be included in the JSPs, or should it be included within the method of each database object that prepares the SQL statement?
By connection processing, I mean methods for establishing the connection, returning a reference to it, and closing it.

You should not include that type of logic in the JSP at all! It's usually not clean to do that. You should separate that portion of the code and put them inside the DAO perhaps...

Where are the includes located in UCM

Trying to edit "workflow_docs_list.htm" and now I'm trying to find where the include "workflow_docs_table" is located in UCM. Anyone have a idea where I can find the include at?

Sorry about that I asked because I have to request the needed file and need to know beforehand, for the answer what I did was I found the .htm file that built the page (for my problem it is "workflow_docs_list.html"), and found the include that is being called (the include was "workflow_docs_table"). Next I went to the workflow page I wanted to work on (workflow "XyZ" under Active Workflow) and added &IsPageDebug=1 to the end of the url (gotta make sure the URL is for that active workflow or it won't work).
Once the page loads there is a gray tab, click it and it will expand showing some options, click "iDocTrace" and expand the popup window and search for the include you want ("workflow_docs_table" for my case) and it will show the file location if it is being used.
I do have a new question if anyone whats to take a shot at it. I have a table of data that has a metadata tied to it, but if I try to access the metadata through iDoc I just get the id number tied to it, I wanna grab the name I gave it in the table. The reason is if someone was to remove/add a new item in the table we would have to make a lot of changes to difference areas with the idoc and was hoping to avoid using the current method of converting the number into it's name.

I get the id number instead of the name if I called the metadata tied to it via iDoc and was hoping to get name instead is this possible?
Solved: the function getViewValue was just what I needed, getViewValue("view", xTest, "viewColum")

What are the Pros and Cons of "hand-coding" vs Using a Tool ?
All of my training and self-study has NOT included a GUI Tool. While I'm comfortable with Java, I've never used a GUI Tool (like Visual Age, JBuilder, Visual Cafe). I'm confortable with Layout Managers and the Event Handling model.
I find tools un-intuitive and a daunting learning curve.
I fear learning a tool will distract me from increasing my real world expertise with JFC/Swing, yet I don't want to miss out on significant productivity gains.

here my opinion: using a GUI-tool might be easier in some straight-forward-situations, like just draging and droping some components to the positions where you want to place them and you see directly how it looks like - wysiwyg! While handwise you have to create them, add them, define the positions, and compile and run the program to see how it looks like.
BUT also with a GUI-tool you must still be aware of LayoutManagers, EventHandling etc. to use all the advantages Java offers. And there I made the experience that our Gui tool (I used Visual Cafe some time ago) was quiet uncomfortable. I would have needed more learning and training for using the tool than for Java itself... that's not the purpose of a tool!
So: if you are comfortable with handwriting, just continue with that!!!
