Whether  instance  gets  down  due  to insufficient  memory ?

hi,
11g R2 (Linux)
Other  day  one  of  the  3  nodes  got  evicted  due  to  insufficient  memory
Err  message  is
ORA-04031: unable to allocate 4136 bytes of shared memory ("shared pool","unknown object","sga heap(3,0)","gcs dynamic r")"
"LMS0 (ospid: 8489): terminating the instance due to error 4031"
Thanks

Hi, Have you configured memory_target or memory_max_target? If so then it may supersede depending on values set. Please post all memory parameters set and based on that we can answer. Also let us know the OS since in Linux there is a concept of tempfs which also limits the maximum memory to be allocated. While in solaris there is concept of project, which limits max memory per oracle instance depending on OS user.

  • BODI - Job Error " blank message, possibly due to insufficient memory

Ending up with below error while executing a DI job. The job uses a file of size 37 MB as source. As the error looks something related to memory. I have tried splitting up the input file into and executed the job. The job completed successfully without any error.
Could someone help me out to find any memory setting which needs to be investigated in the dataflow level to get a permanent solution for it.

    Hi,
loading a 37MB file shouldnt be a problem without splitting it. i´ve loaded GB size flatfiles without problems.
Did you checked the error.txt as stated in the message? Whats in there.
If you split the file and you can load it, you have enough space in your DB.
Please check the memory utilization of your server during executing the job with one file. Maybe the Server is too busy...what would be strange with a 37MB file.

    -Seb.

  • There is a sign screen error, probably due to insufficient memory.

When I open a pdf (MacOSX 10.8.5) I get this message 'There is a sign screen error, probably due to insufficient memory.' (translation out of Dutch).
Via Photoshop I can open the file, that's the strange thing about it.
Someone an idea what the problem is and ofcourse what the solution is.

Are you being prevented booting into your MBP due to the HDD being full?  If so try a a safe boot:
    https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT201262
If no success, try Target Disk Mode:
    https://support.apple.com/kb/PH10725?locale=en_US
Or take out the HDD and install it in an enclosure.  Connect it to another Mac and take some data off of it so that you can boot to it when you re-install it.

  • ASM instance getting down

While production database is operational, ASM instance gets down out of sudden.
The error reflecting in alert log is :
ORA-15064: communication failure with ASM instance
    ORA-03113: end-of-file on communication channel
Also in trace files the same error is reflecting. I am unable to find the root cause why the ASM instance getting down again n again .
    Kindly help !
    Thanks !!

I thought about more input. But well: Check for errors in the clusterware logs next. And check your system logs.
Any tracefiles created by the ASM instance?
A note: You´re on 10.2.0.2.0. Thats way too old. The current version is 10.2.0.4.0. I STRONGLY recommend to upgrade your clusterware and ASM to that version. If you need for some reason you can leave your database on 10.2.0.2.0.

  • Automatic instance getting down with ORA-600

    ORA-00600: internal error code, arguments: [6006], [1], [], [], [], [], [], [], [], [], [], []
    ORA-00600: internal error code, arguments: [ktspfredo-setstate-1], [0], [1], [16], [], [], [], [], [], [], [], []
help me start the instance to stable state@

These errors indicate a detected corruption when trying to apply undo/redo information, probably during instance recovery. [6006] is for an index, [ktspfredo-setstate-1] for a LOB (related bug: #11790175). The trace file should include more information though in the cryptic form of a diagnostic block/undo/redo dump.
Back up the current state of the database (to be able to restart the whole recovery process). Then, if you have a valid older backup, try restoring from that backup. If you have no backup, it may be difficult to recover. If you have a support contract, Oracle Support will probably be able to help. It is not possible to effectively help with recovery of a corrupted database in a community forum.

  • Camera Raw 5.3 insufficient memory

I am editing a 135mb rgb tif in CR. Adjustments are successful but saving out fails due to insufficient memory message. Win xp quad core 2.4 4mb ram

Forgive my ignorance, but I'm still a wee bit confused.
Firstly, I should have written in my last post (which I can't edit for some reason, though I can edit all my other posts) that, with PS open, I can open a TIFF in ACR by choosing File/Open As (not File/Open, as I wrote above) choosing 'Camera Raw' from the Files of type menu and then highligting the file and choosing open. All very well and all as described here> http://kb2.adobe.com/cps/404/kb404656.html
However, oddly, unlike when I choose File/Open, the File/Open As option does not appear to allow me to choose a bunch of files from the folder (via Ctrl and clicking on each in turn) and then open them in ACR - only one at a time. Since I use ACR via Bridge for applying general changes to an entire folder of TIFFs (after they have been processed in Flexcolor), being able to open more than one at a time is crucial for me.
Please tell me I'm doing something wrong. Otherwise, I'm going back to 5.3.
    Thanks.
    D.
    Edited:
    Sorted!
I've left my post above un-edited in case it might be of help to those who were having the same problem. But, here is the solution.............
    1. In PS, under Edit/Preferences/Camera Raw, under Jpeg and TIFF handling, 'Automatically open all supported Jpegs/TIFFs' *must* be selected in the drop down menus, not 'Automaticall open Jpegs/TIFFs with settings', which is what was selected on my computer (is that the default setting?).
    2. Now when I choose File/Open (not File/Open as) and then 'Camera Raw' from the 'Files of type' drop down menu (leaving All Formats selected does not make ACR an option when you click on a file and choose 'Open with ...') I can Ctrl/click on a bunch of images and they will all open in ACR.
I just tried this on a folder of 14 220Mb files followed by a folder of 18 220Mb files. I made a change to them in ACR and then saved them. It ran through them like a train! If I had tried this via Bridge, it would have choked on any more than four or five files.
One very happy camper! ;-) I'm now getting full use of my x64bit/8Gb setup. Thanks to Jeff for bringing this neat work around to my attention.
    Two further points:
    1. In PS, after choosing File/Open, with 'All formats' selected, it would be nice to have ACR as a choice under 'Open with....' rather than having to select Camera Raw in 'Files of type'. Is it possible to edit the selection of programs offered in the 'Open with...' menu and add ACR?
    2. When opening a large number of large files in ACR, the yellow triangle with the exclamation point appears over each file and disappears as each file is cached(?). The only way of knowing if the files further down the list have settled is by either scrolling down through them, or checking to see if the green light on the front of the computer tower has stopped flickering. It would be nice if ACR had something on screen (similar to the rotating circle that appears in PS when you are saving changes to a file) to indicate that it has done its thing.

  • Oracle instance often down!!!

    Hi
I've have an Oracle 10g (10.2.0.4) 64bits database installed on a x64 window server. The server itself has 16gb ram. My current SGA + PGA is about 4-5gb memory, processes=500 but I am still getting random problem like oracle instance killed/down, low swap page memory from OS, listener could not hand off client connection etc. Should it be the existing server RAM(10-11gb RAM free after deduct from the SGA+PGA allocated) is more than enough?

    FireFox88 wrote:
So far from what I can recall my database server used to once a while getting "Significant virtual memory paging was detected on the host operating system" until i turn the OS page memory to system manage which is to use whatever hard disk space available, only then the warning seldom/rarely occur. listener could not hand off client connection is another error quite often prompt. When ever this error prompt, most of the time I've to bounce the database instance.Speculation - could be caused by PGA, as a result of poorly written PL/SQL code using very large PL/SQL arrays (for bulk collection). I have seen a single PGA (private process memory of a dedicated server process) growing to 50% the RAM size of the server. I have even seen a couple of server crashes due to the kernel being starved of CPU time due to swap space thrashing.
Before resetting a server in such a situation - get whatever diagnostics available. The problem will be gone (for the time being) after reboot, without the ability to get an actual look at just what the heck is going on. There are some magic sysrequest keys on Linux that is useful - all you need is the ability to echo specific keys to a proc device in order talk to the kernel and request various data and process dumps. Pity you are using Windows - not the easiest of kernels to troubleshoot.

sankar"database is up and oracle instance is down"
A very interesting concept. Given that a database is just the collection of files that are kept transactionally consistent, and the instance is the memory and processes that manage those files, could you explain what is meant by "database is up and oracle instance is down". If the instance is up it may (or may not, depending on its state) have the database (files) open. If the instance is not up, then the database is ???

  • XI system down due to file generation in file System

    Hi All,
We are facing one issue in our XI Prod system.
Messages will get sturck in inbound queue as system is frequently getting stoped due to insufficient space in the FileSystems .
This is happening due to generation of files heapdump.phd and javacore.txt in the file system (/usr/sap/PXI/DVEBMGS03/j2ee/cluster/server0 ), which are very huge in size.
After manually clearing up the space by deleting these files and restarting the system, the system will  come to normal functionality ,but again after some time we will get same issue .
Plese suggest me how can I fix this problem?
how can I stop  those file generation?
    Thanks and regards

    Hi,
you can overcome this problem by fallowing ways.
    1. you can increese interface time out time.
    2. Please check in table space in sap system.
    3. check the data time out for FTP system also.
