Which is better the March 09 MBP 15 2.66ghz or the June 09 MBP 15 2.53??

I found a deal or I think I did 1699 for the 3/09 2.66 but I am not sure if spending that extra money on the mid range previous version will be a better choice than the lower end current 2.53 model. Will the 2.66 be a better buy? Faster etc.
Thanks to All

You are getting more bang for the buck with the 2.66GHz model. Although it's "old" there are a lot more pros than cons (in my opinion).
1) 2.66GHz Late 2008 has two graphics processors --> 2.53GHz Early 2009 does not
2) 2.66GHz Late 2008 has ExpressCard slot which you can put in an SD card reader adapter inside to act like the dedicated (and NO ExpressCard slot) SD slot on the Early 2009 2.53GHz model
3) The VRAM in the 2.66GHz Late 2008 is 512MB whereas in the 2.53GHz Early 2009 it's 256MB
4) The hard drive in the 2.66GHz Late 2008 is 320GB vs. the 250GB in the 2.53GHz Early 2009
5) The price is a steal for $1699 considering it used to be $2499 and it's on par with the price for the 2.53GHz Late 2009 which retails for $1699 but with less offerings as outlined above! Not to mention the "same" model 2.66GHz Late 2009 which costs more and still has "less" specs in a sense.
I say go for it!!

  • Which is better, the Apple TimeCapsule or the WD MyCloud for backing up pixs and datas?

I am not too sure which is better for backing up my pixs that i have saved and dont want to lose them,am thinking which would be best for me to purchase?the apple timecapsule or the wd mycloud,i heard great things about both but not sure from someone who got experience,so could u help me out and tell me which is better and why?
    thanks in advance...

Backup is backup. Doesn't matter how you do it, but that you do it.
Given the choice you posited I would choose the Time Capsule if you want to use Time Machine. If you wish to use third-party backup software then you can only use the WD. It comes with its own proprietary backup software. Or you can go another direction and avoid cloud/network backup which is very slow.
    Basic Backup
For some people Time Machine will be more than adequate. Time Machine is part of OS X. There are two components:
    1. A Time Machine preferences panel as part of System Preferences;
    2. A Time Machine application located in the Applications folder. It is
used to manage backups and to restore backups. Time Machine
requires a backup drive that is at least twice the capacity of the
         drive being backed up.
    3. Time Machine requires a backup drive that is at least double the
capacity of the drive(s) it backs up.
Alternatively, get an external drive at least equal in size to the internal hard drive and make (and maintain) a bootable clone/backup. You can make a bootable clone using the Restore option of Disk Utility. You can also make and maintain clones with good backup software. My personal recommendations are (order is not significant):
      1. Carbon Copy Cloner
      2. Get Backup
      3. Deja Vu
      4. SuperDuper!
      5. Synk Pro
      6. Tri-Backup
Visit The XLab FAQs and read the FAQ on backup and restore.  Also read How to Back Up and Restore Your Files. For help with using Time Machine visit Pondini's Time Machine FAQ for help with all things Time Machine.
Although you can buy a complete external drive system, you can also put one together if you are so inclined.  It's relatively easy and only requires a Phillips head screwdriver (typically.)  You can purchase hard drives separately.  This gives you an opportunity to shop for the best prices on a hard drive of your choice.  Reliable brands include Seagate, Hitachi, Western Digital, Toshiba, and Fujitsu.  You can find reviews and benchmarks on many drives at Storage Review.
    Enclosures for FireWire and USB are readily available.  You can find only FireWire enclosures, only USB enclosures, and enclosures that feature multiple ports.  I would stress getting enclosures that use the Oxford chipsets especially for Firewire drives (911, 921, 922, for example.)  You can find enclosures at places such as;
      1. Cool Drives
      2. OWC
      3. WiebeTech
      4. Firewire Direct
      5. California Drives
      6. NewEgg
All you need do is remove a case cover, mount the hard drive in the enclosure and connect the cables, then re-attach the case cover.  Usually the only tool required is a small or medium Phillips screwdriver.

  • Which is better, the Hip-E, or the Mega PC Series?

A new computer was released last week that takes aim directly at kids.  It's called the Hip-E, and you can check it out here:  http://www.hip-e.com
So, the question is, which do you like better the Mega PC or the Hip-E.  (assuming both work perfectly per specificaions)

The specs for the Hip-E are here:  HIP-E Specifications
And here is a link for the video card, looks like it's an ATI 9700:  M11 Video Card
In regards to price, don't forget that Hip-E is shipping with a LCD based monitor, which isn't cheap.  Not that I'm advocating it, personally I don't like the design of the Hip-E.

  • Which is better the 1st g or 2nd generation ipod touch

I like to know which is better and last longer and wont have much issues
    A. 1st g ipod touch
    or
    B. 2nd genertion ipof touch
I like to know I dont know which one I want, and I like to hear it from a person who know what there talking about and who knows alot about ipod touch
    reply back real soon
    I need to know

    Hello,
It really depends on your own wants/needs. When the price of the refurbished touch dropped down to $199, I went ahead and purchased it, and so far, I don't regret it or want the 2nd generation (which I have seen and played with).
The main differences with the 2nd generation include a built-in Nike+ receiver (Nike+ is pretty much an iPod-integrated pedometer that works with just the Nano so far), external volume controls, and an internal speaker for "casual listening" (meaning that it doesn't really have that great of volume/audio quality, but the headphones are just as good as any other iPod).
I don't think at this stage we can determine which will have a longer, overall life expectancy. After all, the 2nd generations have only been around since the 9th of this month, and the 1st generations are roughly a year old at this point. Not really a fair comparison.
Regarding issues you might experience... several users on this forum have reported Wi Fi issues with the 2nd generation, but, keep in mind that this is generally a support forum, so most of what you see on here will be issues looking for resolution. I haven't had any issues with the 1st generation that I haven't been able to solve by a simple reset.
    Hope this is helpful

  • Which is better the usual ODBC connection or the OCI to connect to OracleDB

Just wanted to know which one is better/when should i use OCI over ODBC when connecting to Oracle Database from OBI Administrator.
    Also what are the advantages?
    Thanks

Always use OCI since it is the native driver of Oracle. Use ODBC when you dont have any other options.

  • Which is better, The iPhone 4 or iPhone 3GS?

Hello people. I hope to be getting an iPhone today. I'm just trying to decide which one I will get. The 4 or 3GS? What are your opinions on both models? For some reason, I'd like to get the iPhone 4 because it's the latest model and the 3GS is almost 2 years outdated. So my question for all you Apple fan boys today is which phone is better in your opinion. the iPhone 4 or iPhone 3GS.
Whatever your opinion is, please explain in depth.
Thank you everyone for your time and answers!
    Have a great day!

Its still base on your preference and budget. But iPhone 4 would be a good leap to go.
iPhone 4 has the basic stuff that you could look for a mobile phone. Regardless of the hefty price tag.
Try reading out Reviews online about iPhone 4 so you could get more details as well as assurance that the 4th Generation iPhone is better than 3GS.
PS: Good Luck on Making A Decision. Its though. Really Though.

  • I am buying a new IMac. which is better, the 1TB Flash Drive or the 3TB fusion drive

I am looking to purchase a new IMac. Trying to figure out the best solution for storage. Considering the 1TB falsh drive plus using an external hard drive for additional storage. Alternatively I can get the fusion drive with 3tb hard drive and 128mg flash. Anyone have an opinion which is better

Go with the flash and use usb3 or thunderbolt for storage. Google flash vs fusion and you'll get plenty of articles to help with your decision.

  • Which performs better, the Retina or the regular pro?

I am debating which Pro to purchase, if I were to choose between the Air or a Pro. So far, I am going with the air, but I would first like to know the differences between the Retina and the regular Pro. I am going to use the laptop for school work, music, movies, and gaming ( Minecraft, GTA). I would like to know which Pro will do those tasks the fastest, without crashing or lagging, and the clearest. I am planning to buy a 13' with 256 GB SSD, 8GB RAM, and a Dual-Core Intel i7 Processor.

Unless you plan on doing much video and photo editing or gaming the Air is the hands down choice for school use.
The newly released macbook Retina (entry level ones), in easy examination is a thicker macbook Air, thats a bit faster with a retina display.
I have 2 Pros (older) and the current Air. The Air is very nice for its very lightweight packing around,......
,...however now the new Retina pro and the Air are very close together,........both 802ac wifi
    both have PCIe SSD
    both have Mavericks and Haswell
as said, bit more speed and Retina display.
The 13" Air in I5 however has the longest battery life by far, with reports in the 13 and 14 hour range.

  • Which is better Ipods Or Z

Which is better the "Ipods" or ZENS personally i think the zens there way better that the ipods by the long shot.

Ipod Photo?vs. Zen Vision:M, if you sompare price for price then ipod photo 60Gb can be purchased for practically same price as the 30Gb zen vision, feature wise you get more for your money with zen. . Better screen: more colours, brighter (I beli've)2. Better sound quality.3. Better/wider video format codec support (eg. Divx, Xvid)4. Radio: you can record your radio with zen.5. Voice recorder.6. Other stuff that I can't think off at this time. ipod has the looks plus they have started when nobody else was making an mp3 player, so they have the advance on the market today.

  • Tech Specs of the audio input jack? (which is better, an iMic, or the MBP?)

Well because the iMic has such a cheap sounding/terrible audio output....
    http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?threadID=2132385&tstart=0
....I am trying to figure out which would be better for the audio INPUT?
I am surprised to see that both the iMic and the combined jack on the 13" MacBook Pro seem to record in stereo, but technical wise, which is better? I DO know that the iMic is better for non-amped mics, that the iMic will pre-amp the signal where as the MBP will only accept line-in signals. So other then that, which is better?
    Thanks,
    Scott

Well, I sent back the iCrap...I mean iMic. I had to take a loss of $10 but oh well. (stupid apple return policy.)
Anyways, my solution was to buy a similar adapter off ebay for only $7. This USB interface is not a brand name one, it is one of those "china knock-off's" but it works. The Audio output it a lot louder but still slightly distorts like the iMic. However, the audio input works just fine. So my solution is to use BOTH the external USB interface, and the jack on the MBP at the same time. That will give me the best of both worlds. AND, it only cost $7 and came in 3 days, vs the adapter I bought from apple that coast over $35 and took a MONTH to ship.

  • Is it better for your battery if you let it run down all the way and then charge it? Or to charge it whenever you have the opportunity?  Which is better for the life of the battery?

I was wondering it the life of the battery would last longer if you let the battery run down all the way and then charge it? Or to charge it whenever you have the opportunity even if it doesn't have a low battery?  Which is better for the life of the battery and prolong the life of the battery?

I've had a iPhone 4s since March 2012, and it's battery is pretty useless now.  I was using the app Battery Doctor (Battery Saver, Battery Life) by Beijing Kingsoft Internet Security software, which encourages the user to charge more often, whenever battery life drops below 100% full and greater than 20% full, and gives ratings according to the number of full, partial & overcharges done, but I'm concerned that charging like that actually results in worse battery life??
I now have an new iPhone 5 and don't want the battery to only last as short as the last one did
    Any advice/comments please

ps: is a 128gb solid state drive worth replacing the 500gb or 750gb serial ata

USB 3 vs USB 2 -> the importance of USB 3 depends on how much you use an external drive to read/write large files or large numbers of files. I once did extensive testing with USB 2 vs FireWire 400 & 800 with TimeMachine. It was no surprise that performing a complete backup with FireWire was significantly faster than with USB (or even a large backup such as after installing an OS update). But for those hourly (or even daily) backups the difference wasn't all that significant. Exporting a large number of photos or an iMovie to FireWire was significantly faster. Copying a copy word processor files it was almost impossible to accurate time the difference. For some the USB3 ports are a big deal. For me, not at all because I'm heavily invested in FireWire drives.
BlueTooth 4? Frankly, I can't say because the only thing I use BT for is my keyboard and mouse which the older standard is fine for. There are potential advantages - just as with USB3 - the question is whether your current/future needs align to the new standards. Again for me they don't.
As for the CPU difference - I've already indicated that unless you are doing high processor intensive work (such as 3D modelling or big statistical modeling) either processor has plenty of power. According to the benchmarks my new work iMac runs rings around my work 2009 Core 2 Duo 13" MBP. In my real world use of those two computers I never notice the difference. If I played 3D games on them I would.
I've already said that all but one of my refurbs looked new and from what I've seen of relatives and friends buying refurbs that runs pretty true. You aren't buying a new computer but on the other hand I've never seen a refurb that looked beat up. Most refurbs are computers that buyers returned within Apple's 14 day buyer's remorse period or were dead on arrival, a new one given to the buyer, and repaired.
I can't tell you how long a refurb MBP will last - no more than I can tell you how long a new MBP will last. But Apple warrants them for a year and lets you buy an extended warranty just as if they were new. That indicates the confidence Apple has in its refurbs.
Where do you get the idea that you can only put a 128GB SSD in a 13"? It can handle any standard 2.5" drive and there are plenty of SSDs in that form factor at 256GB and above. Yes an SSD is expensive compared to a standard drive but the speed increase is amazing and not just in booting up the computer. Installing an SSD on my 4.5 year old iMac gave it another year of live. Installing one in my work MBP was like getting a new computer. I wouldn't consider buying a new computer without one.
