Which is the right Firmware for a Mid 2007 MacBook?

I'm preparing a recently bought 2.16 GHz Black MacBook for Boot Camp and need to upgrade the Firmware. The pages on the Apple website are fairly clear about procedures, but not about which Firmware I need for which MacBook...
They have two entries (no mention of the mid 2007 model I have):
MacBook (Late 2006)
MacBook
How can I tell which MacBook I have got? I only bought it this week, but the Firmware it has seems to have a higher number than the ones listed as being the "latest" Firmware... Looking at entries for other Macs, later models seem to appear underneath older models in the list on the Apple website, but you can never be sure unless references are explicit (and they aren't).
My confusion is based on there being no "Mid 2007" model listed, and on the Firmware serial numbers:
*Apple's "Latest" Firmware:*
_MacBook (Late 2006)_
MB21.00A5.B00
1.13f3
MacBook
MB11.0061.B03
1.4f12
*Installed Firmware:*
MB21.00A5.B06 (seems to be a higher number - and therefore newer? - than the "latest" one...)
1.17f0
Can anyone shed any light on this please? It is the EFI firmware update that may (or may not be) relevant - the SMC firmware update is only for the original MacBook...
TIA

Thanks Doug, that's helpful. In the instructions for Boot Camp it specifically says to check for, download and install the latest firmware before commencing an installation of Boot Camp. I always follow instructions!
It would be helpful if what you say was also on the Apple Support pages of the website, just to confirm to visitors there that things are correct. It really wouldn't hurt them to dot the "i"s and cross the "t"s to make sure there is no possibility of having to "guess" that because it isn't listed, you don't need it. I am sure lots of people have already downloaded the wrong type, judging from some of the many firmware questions on the site. Sometimes, a confirmation of reality is necessary, you know, like getting an aircraft ready for flight and going through a check list for every single thing.

  • I need help from someone regarding what equipment to purchase. I need to know which is the right equipment for what i am trying to set up

I am trying to setup sensors on container cranes at critical points on the cranes, monitoring voltage, vibration, strain, frequency etc. A control room 500m will be setup with labview to monitor the cranes.
I am thinking of going WiFi and using PXI platform. Which equipment to buy is the question? Urgent Help required on making the selection. Strict Budget contraints to carry out the project!!

Since it seems that time and money are of the essence, I suggest contacting a technical sales representative to discuss your application and product selection one-on-one. Tel: (888) 280-7645
or click on "Call me now" on any product page. Good luck finding the right hardware.

  • What is the maximum temperature for a mid 2010 MacBook?

I need to know the maximum running temperature for my mid 2010 (white unibody) MacBook. And at what temperature should I shut it down? I'm also curious if I should turn up the speed of my fans and what speed I should set them at. Thanks for everyones support!
It would also be great if someone could provide a link or tell me where they found the info because I want to make sure it is official, I couldn't seem to find it on Apple's technical specs nor google.

MacBooks are designed to shut themselves down if they reach a temperature above which they should not operate. It also controls its own fans, you should not mess with that. I don't know what that temperature is. If your MacBook is running too hot you may want to try resetting the System Management Controller, which is a good first step for all sorts of power related issues.
    Best of luck.

  • Planning to upgrade to 8GB of RAM. Which is my best option for my Mid-2010 MacBook white (model 7,1)?

    Macbook white (MID 2010)
2.4 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo,
2 GB 1067 MHz DDR 3 (Wanted to upgrade to 8GB)
Just upgraded to iOS 10.7.5 from snow leopard.
Reason for upgrade: Since the OS was upgraded, all process seems to be slower than before.

According to mactracker.ca database (among other) your mid-2010 MacBook white
can use a bit more RAM and likely worth at least 8GB, or more, upgrade for OS X.
And the computer also could be upgraded to Mavericks OS X 10.9.4, if desired.
Maximum Memory    16 GB (Actual) 4 GB (Apple)
    Memory Slots    2 - 204-pin PC3-8500 (1066MHz) DDR3 SO-DIMM

For a correct match for parts, you can see information on the Model Identifier and
build year series from crucial.com or macsales.com sites; these offer quality RAM
and upgrades, if you match the parts with your model exactly & correctly.
OWC (macsales) also has fair SSD options, with good technologies, if needed.
Matching sets of RAM tend to do best, and be wary of similar numbered parts that
are not correct; some cheap low-spec PCs use those and don't know any better.
PS: concerning issues with slowness, there is a performance guide among other
Tech Guides here: http://www.thesafemac.com/tech-guides/ also, the basic issue
with a too full hard disk drive, and other saved content that may be best saved to
an externally enclosed hard disk drive, as an accessible archive, is recommended.
An all new installation can be helpful, too. If you have unused old applications or any
anti-virus, remove them. Check the adware removal guide, and other info there.
    Good luck & happy computing!

  • Which is the right temperature for an iMac

Hello; My iMac is usually running about 50/55º (centigrades) and sometimes, using Aperture it can rise at 78º. Is this normal for an iMac?. I ask this because I remember not long ago, the temperature was about 45º

First before you go installing the SMCFanController if one of your fans is reporting 0 then the first thing you need to do is reset the SMC: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1543?viewlocale=en_US and see if that fixes it. Otherwise you have an immediate problem.
In response to your original question about temperature, we need to know which sensor you are talking about because there are 11 temperature sensors in your iMac. The CPU temp itself will fluctuate quite a bit depending on load. It can very easily get up to 78C but usually will only stay at that temp briefly. Can you post up all of your temperatures?

  • Which is the Right Tool for PL-SQL Programing?

I'm programing a lot of PL/SQL code in Portal, but until now I don't which of whole Oracle tools can help me to faster programing PL/SQL code
Can anybody tell me something about it?
    Thanks a lot !!!!

    hi,
    And then there's:
FROG (funky resource for Oracle Gorilla's) you'll have to find that one on the net.
    Golden32 from benthic software.
    SQL Programmer by sfi-software.
SQL Station (really good since it installs all kinds of utilities on the server like plvision lite).
plsql developer from allroundautomations (also very good for building plsql packages and stored procedures to my humble opinion the best).
    hora 4 from keeptool.
    rapid sql from embarcadero.
and last but not least all the great tools from revealnet. I would especially like to recommend plformatter and plgenerator.
and of course for this forum, there's a great little tool i use a lot called webalchemy which translates pure html into plsql packages.

  • What is the right charger for a MacBook Pro 13"  mid 2009 model?

What is the right charger for a MacBook Pro 13" mid 2009 model? I have two chargers for two different Mac and don't know which is  thankswhich. I'm really looking for specific details such as voltage/watts and all the rest to idenify my charger.  A link to where to web page where I could purchase the correct charger would also be very useful. Many thanks.
All help much appreciated. THANK YOU

Both power adapter I have are different (at the magnet end) from the one in link.
Earlier adapters have T shaped connectors, which Apple later changed to the L shape, presumably to make them more abuse-proof. Either one is fine and the one you are using will not damage your Mac.
Retina MBPs and new MBAs use a completely different MagSafe 2 connector which will not fit (without an adapter).

    2. I use the internet alot.
    3. I have an ipod touch so i will need storage for my music.
    4. It will need it to be quite quick.
    5. It will need to support some software that i use on windows.
Also, do you think a macbook is what i need as oppose to windows. what are the pros and cons of the macbook

This is the most important question. I would check with your school. They may have a recommendation for what you need and the software you will need to use. They also may have a discount program for you to purchase your computer. If not Apple does have an education discount plan to give you a break.
    5. it will need to support some software that I use on windows.
Hard to give an answer for this as we have no idea what your going to be using or what your school requires you to use. My sons college had specific programs he had to have.

    Hi,
Please download "ODAC 11.1.0.6.21 with Oracle Developer Tools for Visual Studio". When you install it, it will create an 11g Oracle home. Let it do that (don't try to install it into the Oracle XE home).
You will need to set up a connect alias to connect to the XE database (as if it were on another machine).
    Thanks,

  • Is Logic the right programme for me?

    Hi.
Im seriously considering building my own home recording system. I just want to start simple with a programme and suitable microphones to capture voice, guitar and midi keyboard.
Just wanted some advice on Logic and if its the right programme for me? Would I get the hang of it easy and what microphone would you suggest?
I want to adapt my acoustic guitar playing and singing to an electronic set up which I hope to create with the recording program and use in a live setting. Would Logic be suitable for this also?
Sorry for all the question, im pretty new to the self recording process.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
    Marc.

    cramrevilo wrote:
Thanks for this. Very good advice. Should have mentioned that I have used Garage Band extensively for recording song ideas into the in built mic but nothing much more.
    This doesn't count.
Seriously, FN's comment regarding Logic vs whatever being the least of your worries is exactly correct.
To get decent sound you are going to be looking at some hardware expenditure.
    An "audio interface".
Your MBP's built-in audio will give you only fair sound and you will end up spending money on a mic/inst preamp that you can plug into the Mac's 3.5mm line-in.
You're better off purchasing an external audio interface, this will have mic/instrument inputs and can interface to the MBP via Firewire or USB. (Firewire is better imho)
Personally not fond of USB mics so I would recommend a standard condenser mic and cable. There are some decent models in the $100 range that sound good for both voice and acoustic guitar. The Audio-Technica AT2020 comes to mind.
There are a number of small inexpensive MIDI keyboard controllers that can do the job.
Point is, this hardware will work with any MIDI/Audio sequencer so before purchasing Logic I would take care of the hardware investment and learn the ropes using Garageband.
GB is very capable, it's built on a subset of Logic. Six months ago I used Garageband to cut a demo for an ad company, they liked it enough that all I needed to make were a few tweaks and add the voice over (all in Garageband 4.1.2) and they purchased it for both radio/TV broadcast.
A good thing to remember is more is not necessarily better, knowing how to use whatever you have will always produce better results. Good music, artistry..etc is seldom, if ever about the equipment/software.
Get the hardware stuff happening with GB, then make the jump.

  • Which is the right way?/place to post the suggestion to SAP

    Hi Freinds,
if someone have to make a suggestion to SAP, for its product extension..or maybe a new feature to add to its existing product offering...which is the right place...shld it be in the form of a blog or a post in a forum...
and if indeed turns out to be a unique feasible feature and gets lots of positive response...why kind of recognition will it get....

lol. there's a world outside the US for those who don't know.
therefore ASUG might not be the right address for someone living elswhere. there are some SAP user groups in other areas of this world, eg in germany it's DSAG; unfortunately you have to be a member of those 'societies' (membership fee) and it's not easy to make yourself heard in the beginning.
SAP could provide better channels for that, e.g. special SDN areas for that purpose.
