Which product to use to build a "flip book" type of effect?

I have 67 digital photos of the same view with slight differences between them. I wish to build one file that I can export to create what looks like one of those old-fashioned "flip books"  or old moving picture (jittery motion).
I used to be able to do this in Adobe ImageReady by importing the photos as frames and tweening them.
I'm new to CS5 and have been looking all over the place for the right application to use with no luck.
Which one do I use???
Please be specific as I've looked into Fireworks and Flash but neither or those seems to allow me to import a folder of files and put them on layers.
Thanks in advance for any help offered.

I think what you want is an animated.gif.  And you can do that in Photoshop.

  • "Flip-book"  like image effect in Captivate 5

Hello all ! New to the forum and pretty new to captivate over here ! I just wondered if you could help me with something ! How to make a flip-book like image effect ? There is an example on slide 3 of this Captivate example : http://www.adobe.com/products/captivate/educators/include/softskills_training/modal.html?w idth=752&height=440    Any help would be great !  And.. why is it everytime I press Enter it it drops the whole paragraph instead of making a new line ?   Thanks !
I noticed the link doesn't seem to work,http://www.adobe.com/uk/products/captivate/
The presentation I mean is called "soft skills training"
Any help would be  great !

    Hi Scott.
As far as I know, that is not a function built into Cp5.  It looks like some kind of flash animation/widget built otuside Captivate and then imported.
If someone else knows otherwise, please chime in.  Or if that widget can be downloaded somewhere, I'd love to take a look at it.

Thanks very much for your answer, Mohit. That's exactly what I feared!
I thought about another option, so I'd like to know what you think about it.
If I set this vehicle's status (OIGV-VEH_STATUS) as 2 (Vehicle to be deleted) and run SARA with object OIG_VEHCLE, will it be successfully archived if the TD Shipment's still in the database with status=6?
And... let's suppose it get archived somehow. Will I be able to use this very same vehicle code (OIGV-VEHICLE) to create a different (another) vehicle?
    Thank you once again!

  • Which products to use?

Hello, I would like to get started with digital publishing but am a bit lost among formats, softwares etc and can't find the right starting point.
This is where I am, I'd be grateful if someone could point me to any manuals, books or tutorials to get me started.
I'm proficient in InDesign for publishing, so to be able to use InDesign to go digital would be a great start….
I run a small publishing company, we publish about 1 artbook per year, 3 are already out.
Each of them contains approx 30% chapters of text + photos, and 70% of photos.
I would like to convert them to digital format for tablet, but am not sure what resources I should purchase and use.
    I would like to:
    - Re-design the books as interactive presentations (NOT just pdf files): I've seen folio files in action and liked them (but they seem to be used only for magazines rather than books...? I've also downloaded some samples suggested by Adobe and they all go straight into the Newstand of my iPad….I wouldn't like that)
    - Make them available, if not for all readers, at least to ipad and android devices
    - Be able to sell the publications via third party stores (iTunes, App store, Android marketplace, maybe Amazon) for ease of commerce
    - Also, ideally it would be nice if whoever downloads more than one book could access them through one single icon of my company, and then from there decide which book to open….
Sorry this may all sound like a big mess….but I'm lost among folios, epub, proprietary formats (ibooks etc), compatibility issues across devices etc.
I've seen several ibooks: I found their design dreadful, with this fake "book effect" with central folds, page-turning effects etc.
I guess my aesthetic expectation is somewhat similar to a website, that's why the folios I've seen were quite appealing to me: simple menu, ease of use, tidy layout, simple and nice effects (galleries etc).
I have no videos or truly interactive content to insert, I just want to avoid the "cheap" impression of a simple pdf file and make some images, text and photos slide, zoomable etc.
Can someone tell me where to start from……
    Many thanks

    Fed,
One of the potential problems you should watch out for is that Apple may reject your book apps for being too book-like.  There are a number of posts in this forum from people who have had this happen, you can search and read about their experiences.  If you don't have enough "interactive" features for Apple's taste then they will have no problem rejecting your app.
If you want to have a branded "publisher" app you could pay for a Pro subscription with Adobe (~$500/mo + .30/download) and publish a multi-issue app so that customers could buy all your different books/issues after opening your one app.  You can choose whether or not you want your books/issues to be used with the Newstand feature of iOS.  With the Pro subscription you will be able to publish both iOS and Android apps, however you will have to design separate "renditions" tailored to the pixel size / aspect ratio of the different devices.
Here's the main help section for the Digital Publishing Suite.  It will help you get started with lots of how-to articles.

  • Newbe needs advice on which product to use

Hi, Im completely new to java and looking for a good package for a newbe to use, Id prefer a GUI but any advice will be appreciated. I know its a bit like asking what the best car to drive, they all get you from A to B, but Id like to get from A to B with ease :-)
    Cheers
    Andy

A lot of people here recommend exactly that for beginners (Notepad plus Command Prompt). Developing code that way is slow but you learn what a classpath is and how to put your source code into directories organized the right way.
There are a lot of IDEs (Interactive Development Environments (I think)) available, but for many of them you'll spend a lot of time learning how to use the tool rather than learning how to program Java. That is a worthwhile investment of time for somebody who is going to be a Java programmer, but not necessarily for a beginner -- you don't know what to do, and you don't even know how to ask what to do.
There are a lot of "What's the best IDE" threads on this forum, you might find some of them if the search feature has been fixed up for the Year of the Rooster, but most of the regulars are starting to find them tiresome.

  • Create flip book in After Effects

    Hello,
I'm completely new to After Effects. So I wonder if it is a easy way to create like a book/magazine in which you can flip through the spreads and add links. And then save it in a format that can be published online. Anyone know?

As Mylenium says, you will have to do this in something else. After Effects creates video only. No interactivity. Now, you can use AE to make assets to be used elsewhere - I do that all the time - but you can't create links or other interactivity in AE.

  • Which product? Photoshop or Elements?

I saw there's a lot of products. I'm certainly unsure which product to use for my business. I am doing Marketing for my company and we use alot of editing. I'm not sure which product to use as they have a lot of function eg. photoshop element, photoshop etc. and what function do they carried. Please advice.

Exactly what type of image editing do you need to do for your company?
Photoshop Elements has matured into a very capable app over the last few years -- for image editing. Photoshop is like a "Swiss Army knife" of image & graphics editing. It does a lot more than just image editing -- text, 3D, vector graphics, video. As such the learning curve for PS is greater than PE.
If all you need to do for your company is to edit images, then PE may suffice. If you want to do complex image editing, such as using Blend If... adjustments, then PS will be necessary. Not sure if PE can edit 16-but images.
As an option, a couple of third party add-on plug-ins can extend the functionality of PE if ever needed.

  • How do I create a flipping book in Adobe Flash?

    Hello new friends,
I am a graphic designer with many years of experience in Creative Suite Design Standard software. However I'm just beginning to get into Flash and have a project where I need to create a simple page-flipping brochure. My client has a 3-fold borchure in both SWF and JPEG formats which she wants to turn into a Flash flipping book to post on her website. I have the CS3 Web Premium package but I want to know if I need a third-party page flip plug-in or does my version of Flash (9.0) include the page flip engine? Also where can I find a tutorial to build a flipping book in Flash as this would be very helpful in building one for the first time.
Many thanks in advance for any help you guy and gals can give me!
    Best,
    .stephen

Thanks for all the help and suggestions!
If anyone's interested I did find a site that looks like it has some good information regarding creating flip books (step by step) and they also sell page flip software that seems to work really well (as seen in the demos). Here's the site:  http://www.pageflip.hu/  (PageFlip 3.5)  In the third paragraph of the home page there is a greyed out link "online documentation." Select that link and it will take you to their documentation on how to build a flip file using their software. Fairly simple approach. I will probably purchase this software.
System requirements for PageFlip 3.5 — Any browser with Adobe Flash player 8 installed; Adobe Flash 8 to edit source files.

  • Hi. I am building a website with the White template. Does anyone know which typeface was used by Apple on the heading index? (I would like to repeat the index at the bottom of my pages).

Hi I am building a website using iWeb's white template. I can't write HTML, so can't change the index, but would like to repeat it at the bottom of my pages. Does anyone know which typeface Apple used? Presumably it would be 'web friendly' for use as described above?

    Arial
PS. You can see it in the source of the published page where it says new NavBar etc...
    ".navbar {\n\tfont-family: Arial, sans-serif;\n\tfont-size: 1em;\n\tcolor: #666;\

  • Template or Stationery?  Which is better to use for building pages?

I'm going to start building my tier 2 and tier 3 pages, and want the nav bar on every page to update with the new tier 2 pages that I add.
Will a template or stationery page update the nav bar? The content will change on each page, but as I add the tier 2 pages, those will become part of the navigation bar throughout the site. How do I do this, or maybe the better question is...which should I use, a template or stationery?
    I'm using GoLive 6.
    Thanks,
    Kirstyn Sierra

    NAVIGATION AS A COMPONENT:
Basically, you build your navigation into a separate file that only has the navigation links and save it as a Component. Then, in your site pages, you drop in the Component into the page where needed. Later, if you add a page, you add the link to your Component, which then goes through all the pages you dropped the Component into and updates them to match what you just saved. You then re-upload all your modified files so the copy online matches.
    SITE TEMPLATE:
You build the entire page design template structure, putting everything where you want. You define "editable" regions in the template for the content that changes with every page (the main body content - basically everything except the basic structure and navigation) and save it into GoLive's Templates folder. You make new pages based on the template, and everything's locked except the part(s) that change on every page. You add the page-specific content to the editable region and save. Later, if you make a change on the master Template file, those changes are copied by GoLive into any page based on that template, but it ignores the "editable" regions so as not to override the page-specific content.
Either way you go, you'd need to read the manual for your version of GoLive for the specifics on how to set up Templates or Components (and post back here if you run into questions). I don't have a copy of GoLive 6 installed, so can't spout the details off the top of my head :-)

Looking to create editable PDF forms with drop downs and text boxes for use on a Mac computer and iPad. Which product do I need to purchase? Do not need anything fancy

Basically you would need Acrobat. However, it is now also possible to create basic form fields using just the free Reader. In fact, I've been working on a tool that allows you to do it, so if you're interested in it please contact me privately.

Unfortunately you have taken an Apple product outside of the area where Apple currently does business. There isn't legally a way around this. Apple cannot license apps to you where you currently live.
