Which v$ views can I use to monitor parallel process?

Hi All,
The DB version is 11.1.
I ran one sql in parallel. And I got the session id for this session.
But when I referred to v$px_session, v$px_process, or even v$sql_monitor with this session id, I got nothing from those views.
The exectuion plan showed it used parallel exectuion.
Could anybody tell me what's wrong with my approach? Or this means that my sql didn't use parallel at all?

The interesting thing I encountered these days is although the v$px_session didn't show any slaves, it seemed the query was executed in parallel.
The evidence is: I ran the same sql with and without 'alter session disable parallel query' alternately. The reponse times are stable and quite different.
I have tested another method to check slave processes, that is:
1. To get the sql_id from v$session where sid = my_session_id.
2. To check how many sessions in the database, by select * from gv$session where sql_id = sql_id_from_step1
Both of the ways show no slave processes for my query.
Does anybody know why it seems that the query was executed in parallel but no slaves sessions?

Is there dvd software out there that allows you to create a dvd menu in which the viewer can choose to play different sequences of the videos offered? It was described to me as a dvd matrix menu but I can't find anything like it for mac. The idea is that there are multiple videos on the dvd menu and you can choose to play "video A, then B, then C" or "video B, then C, then A", etc, in different orders each time. And it would play the sequence that you choose.

You use scripts to set values that are stored in a tiny amount of memory on the player & then have to use additional scripts to respond to the values set, so that at the end of a sequence it will jump to the one a user previously chosen.
Some things to consider…
DVD's have limits on the number of chapters & titles, you need to plan around that.
Some DVD players are terrible to navigate, the settings that a user selects will be forgotten when the player is powered off. Users will need to make the choices over & over, every time they use the DVD (computers may remember it - I haven't tested this in years).
You will also need to setup many variations of menus to be able to indicate what selections they chose.
It is not a trivial task, you may want to hire a programmer to set it all up.
Testing is also a lot of work - too many combinations can quickly cause issues for testing, different players can also do odd things too.
I have used scripting for basic, 'play all' or 'play chapter' menus where the video is encoded once on the DVD & the scripts will either play through, or simply play a chapter & return to the same menu.
You may find that it would be better to invest in setting up a website with this. On a custom site it would be possible for users to save a playlist or several, they can also share playlists etc, it would be more flexible & usable IMO.

It sounds like the customer and server room operator are using a Microsoft/X86 mindset. There are several selling points on using RSCs & SCs. First off are the big 3 that are easy for any good server room operator to understand: cost, space & power. If you don't have to buy a 1U Tripp-lite pull out rack KVM console ($1700) and a video card for each of your SUN servers ($400, yes SUN vid cards are $$$), you start off by saving several thousand dollars.
Next you need to let them know that you require remote access to the systems from your desk and a standard KVM doesn't allow this (with Unix, if you have to get up from your desk then its a hardware problem). They can choose to purchase a network enabled KVM, but that adds $700 to your $1700 KVM. By using the SC you will be able to administer the system remotely.
Third, remember that SUNs do not show all the critical boot information on a frame-buffer console output. If you are in diagnostic mode during boot, the monitor doesn't show results until it completes. If some process is stuck (missing NFS or fibre-channel hard mounts, memory tests, etc) then you need to be able to see it to fix the problem. Plus, console frame-buffers only give you 25 lines of output that you can't scroll back.
The only small hitch is security. The new SCs (on T5220s) have SSH built in, but the older V240s and V490s use telnet which some security people balk at. The solution that we used is to put the older system SCs on a private LAN. Access to that private LAN from our intranet is via a SSH enabled dual-homed (non-routing) workstation with local user accounts. We SSH to that workstation & then telnet to the SC on the relevant server. That solution allows me to access our servers that are 40 miles away, saving response time to solve customer problems. A crude diagram is below:

i have two computers in another office that remote into two other computers here at my site, all 4 computers run windows 7 ultimate, about a week to 10 days ago the two remote computers can still connect to the computers at my site but can only use one monitor
not dual monitors as before the 10 days or so. The use all displays box is checked in the remote desktop client, i have two sonicwall firewalls with a site to site vpn connection between the offices that they use to remote
can't get the dual monitors to work, any help would be appreciated

I can't use dual monitors since upgrading to Lion

I use my HD TV as a second monitor for streaming movies etc. Since upgrading to Lion, I can only use one monitor at a time. Is anyone else having this problem?

Yes, the blanking of secondary monitors is an issue.
In fact, it is the reason why I went back to Snow Leopard on my 3-screen iMac

Most all monitors should work. You may need a cable adaptor if the monitor doesn't have mini-DisplayPorts but you can purchase those from Apple Store Online.

Note it may also show applications as packages, and their contents as individual files within a .app folder. Do not confuse the various .app folder contents for files that are duplicate, since they are default files for the various Mac OS X applications. Make sure the duplicates have the same file name and byte size, before choosing to delete one file.
