While Loop in Service method.

I have a while(true) loop in my doPost method of my servlet, basically to cut a long story short it is needed in there.
The problem is when a user leaves the page this loop is still running. I need it to stop running as it is consuming resources, is there a way around this problem...???
Thanks in advance.

Here's how a servlet is supposed to work:
The client clicks on a button or a link that sends a request to your servlet. Your servlet does some calculations (that should normally take no more than a few seconds) and sends back a response. It should definitely not run forever.
Servlets cannot "push" information to a client, they can only send information in response to a request.
You'll need a different design that sends the new data only when the customer requests new data. If you want the client to have a screen that appears to have current data that is refreshed regularly, then HTML already includes a Refresh header that makes the browser send new requests at regular intervals.

    What was the original question? I thought it was
    getting the desired output, " 9 7 5 3 1."
    He didn't ask for improving the while loop or the
    reverseArray method, did he?
    By removing "output3 = reverseArray(reverse):," you
    get the desired output.Okay, cranky-pants. Your solution provides the OP with the desired output. However, it only addresses the symptom rather than the underlying problem. If you'd bother yourself to look at the overall design, you might see that hard-coding magic numbers and returning static arrays as the result of reversing an array passed as an argument probably isn't such a great idea. That's why I attempted to help by providing a complete, working example of a method that "reverses" an int[].
    Removing everything and providing "System.out.println("9 7 5 3 1");" gets him the desired output as well, but (like your solution) does nothing to address the logic problems inherent in the method itself and the class as a whole.

  • Java.lang.NoSuchMethodError while invoking web service method

    Hi, I have a web service which has two methods exposed as
    A and B.
    I deployed it on weblogic server (7.0 SP4) and fired teh request when I got this error:
    <env:Envelope xmlns:env="http://schemas.xmlsoap.org/soap/envelope/" xmlns:soapenc="http://schemas.xmlsoap.org/soap/encoding/" xmlns:xsd="http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema" xmlns:xsi="http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema-instance">

    <detail>
    <bea_fault:stacktrace xmlns:bea_fault="http://www.bea.com/servers/wls70/webservice/fault/1.0.0">java.lang.NoSuchMethodError
    I tried deploying the web service on another instance and there the method A was invoked but I got the same error when I tried invoking B.
    I tried it on third instance and there both the methods were successfully invoked.
    The methods A and B name start with capital letter (someone told me that method name should not start with capital letter but that does not hold good here)
    Any idea why this starnge behavior of web service?

    Hi Guys,
    I have solved the above issue by applying the PATCH 1 & PATCH 2 of the
    BPEL 10.1.2 version .
    Thanks

  • Calling web service method.Stuck in while loop

    I am implementing a board game using asp.net web service. Players connect to this web service and play.
    Once player click on a cell in board it should be written to web service and other players board repaint according to that click.Writtting to web and reading is working, but the switch player method in below do not work.It stuck in the while loop.Even other player has played this player do not identify he has played it wait in the loop.
    private void switchPlayer(String player){
            try { // This code block invokes the ServiceSoap:switchPlayer operation on web service
                webservice.Service service = new web.Service_Impl();
                webservice.ServiceSoap serviceSoap = service.getServiceSoap();
                while(serviceSoap.switchPlayer(player)!="aPlayer"){
                   System.out.println("It's oppenents turn");//Stuck here
                    //remote player already exists?
              //   readLabel();

    Does some one knows url of similar type game
    designing.I would suggest that you get your basics right before going into that stuff.

    I want to pass along a couple of tips that will get you more and better response on this list.
    1) There is an un-written rule that says more "stars" is better than just one star. Giving a one star rating will probably eliminate that responder from individuals that are willing to anser your question.
    2) If someone gives you an answer that meets your needs, reply to that answer and say that it worked.
    3) If someone suggests that you look at an example, DO IT! LV comes with a wonderful set of examples that demonstate almost all of the core functionality of LV. Familiarity with all of the LV examples will get you through about 80% of the Certified LabVIEW Developer exam.
    4) If you have a question first search the examples for something tha
    t may help you. If you can not find an example that is exactly what you want, find one that is close and post a question along the lines of "I want to do something similar to example X, how can I modify it to do Y".
    5) Some of the greatest LabVIEW minds offer there services and advice for free on this exchange. If you treat them good, they can get you through almost every challenge that can be encountered in LV.
    6) If English is not your native language, post your question in the language you favor. There is probably someone around that can help. "We're big, we're bad, we're international!"

If I understand you correctly, use 2 loops. One gathers user inputs and stores them in an array/List. The second loop iterates over the array/List and does calculations.

  • How do I create a start/stop button for each separate while loop within my program, when each of them does a different task?

    I have a multimeter VI with separate while loops to accomplish the different tasks of reading  voltage, current, etc. Each while loop has a stop button, but I need a button that will have to be pressed in order for the while loop to even start. I tried putting another while loop around the present one, but it still has to run once before it will stop. I want the user to have to press the button before it runs, because they interfere with each other.
    I am just learning so patience and your kind assistance is greatly appreciated!

    Hello,
    I'm not entirely clear with everything you have going on and what you want your final functionality to be, but you can use sequence structures to prevent a loop from starting until the user presses a button like this:

    I have to ask, why is an NI employee using examples using sequence frames? The same thing could be accomplished using data flow by simply wiring the value of the first stop button out of teh first while loop and connecting it to the second loop. This would then use data flow to control the sequence. Why show new users bad programming methods?
    As to the original question I would concur with altenbach on using an event structure.

  • Problem with While Loop.

    Hi guys,
    i'm doing a pass exam java question, below is the question criteria.
    Write a program that allows a user to enter their mark attained in each unit and displays their grade. After all marks are entered the average mark is displayed.
    The main method should:
    Prompt the user to enter the number of units taken (check for NumberFormatException)
    Write a for loop to repeat for each subject, where each iteration
    Prompts the user to enter a mark ( a double) for unit 1, unit 2 etc. This should be in a while loop so if mark entered is less than 0 or greater than 100 the prompt will be repeated.
    Pass the mark to a method called getGrade.
    Display the returned grade
    Accumulate each mark
    Print the average mark to 2 decimal places
    The getGrade method should:
    Accept the parameter passed from the main method
    Determine the grade according to the following scale
    Return the grade
    The words that i highlighted in bold is the criteria.
    As you can see from the above question, i create an array , even though the question does not prompt me to create as what i know from tackling JavaQuestions "if it does not prompt me to add a criteria, it is ok to add it" :)
    below is my program code , in which the result i get is the same as the question result. BUT, from the above question it ask me to add a while loop, so if mark entered is less than 0 or greater than 100 the prompt will be repeated.
    But instead i use a do loop. :(
    so can anyone help me or show me how to create the while loop for mark entered is less than 0 or greater than 100 the prompt will be repeated, from my program code below. cause i want to know whether it possible to have a while loop instead of do loop for the my program and the while loop can work with an array criteria.
    thanks

    Why do you think it hangs at the while loop, eh? You need to put in additional printlns to justify your assertion. It takes alot less time to diagnose if you put in specific try/catch blocks with their own printlns - even if it is not as much fun. When you get into these kinds of troubles, there is no shame in putting in prints at each statement or logical point to track down the actual fault.

  • How to read the hierarchy data from the same table using loop in AMDP method

    Hi All,
    We have a requirement to get the top partner from BUT050 table.
    Here the Top parent is nothing but the top most in the hierarchy of the partners from BUT050.
    Example:
    For partner 1234 (BUT050-PARTNER1) there is partner 3523(BUT050-PARTNER2) one level above
    For partner 3523(BUT050-PARTNER1)  there is partner 4544 (BUT050-PARTNER2) last level .
    so in this case for the partner 1234 the Top parent is 4544 .
    I have created AMDP Procedure method to get the top-parnet and below given is the logic implemented in AMDP method.
    Here i have implemented a recursive logic with the WHILE loop to get the top most hierarchy partner from the same table BUT050
    IV_Parent is the input partner and ev_top_parent is the output value.
    AMDP Procedure Method:
        DECLARE lv_date VARCHAR(8) := TO_VARCHAR (current_date, 'YYYYMMDD');
        DECLARE found INT := 1;
              iv_partner1 =  SELECT partner1 FROM but050
                              WHERE partner2 = iv_partner
                              AND reltyp = :iv_hierarchy
                              AND date_to >=  :lv_date
                              AND date_from <= :lv_date;
         WHILE found <> 0  do
           select partner1 into ev_top_parent from :iv_partner1;
                           iv_partner1 =  SELECT partner1 FROM but050
                           WHERE partner2 in ( select partner1 from :iv_partner1 where partner1 is not null)
                           AND reltyp = 'ZBP004'
                           AND date_to >= :lv_date
                           AND date_from <= :lv_date;
           select COUNT ( partner1 ) INTO found FROM :IV_PARTNER1;
        END WHILE;
    This method is working fine, but here it is only taking one single partner and getting the top parent as output.
    Now i would like to convert this mehtod so as to accept n number of partners (not one single partner) as input and should process each partner to get the top parent.
    Could anyone guide me how can i handle the given AMDP method further so as to work some how it is within another loop from other AMDP method.
    Thanks.

    Laxman.P

    {color}{color:#000000}The Scenarios is as follows:
    I am having a JCA connector which is calling the CCA Method.
    CCA uses the web services for method invocation and i have created the jar file for the web service proxies. teh proxies are of RPC type. I have include the jar file in the connector project for reference.
    I have written a webservice client which will get the connection abject and invoke a method which internally invokes the CCA method.
    During this time it is giving this error.
    Please note that i have included the wsclient-extend.jar file ,wsclient jar file in both the connector project and the client project.
    Thanks

    You have to add the jaxrpc library in the server.xml configuration of your embedded oc4j.
    Line:
    <import-shared-library name="oracle.ws.jaxrpc"/>
    You have to do this twice: in the adf.oracle.domain and the adf.generic.domain shared lib entries.
    Then, you have to do this again in the system-application.xml file (only once).

  • Error while calling web service from Forms 10g

    Hi,
    I have defined a web service and deployed at OracleAS 10g 10.1.2.0.2. Web services is working fine as per standalone invocation URL and also using a Web Service source in Portal (OmniPortlet).
    I have created a web service proxy and imported the JAR file into Forms module via Java Importer. Created a button to invoke a web service and show results on message bar.
    Code for WHEN-BUTTON-PRESSED:
    declare
         v_javaObject ora_java.jobject;
         xo ora_java.jobject;
         v_name varchar2(30);
         javaException ORA_JAVA.JOBJECT;
         v_BigDecimalObject ORA_JAVA.JOBJECT;
    begin
         v_javaObject := EmpServicePortClient.new;
         v_BigDecimalObject := BigDecimal.new(101);
         v_name := EmpServicePortClient.getName(v_javaObject,v_BigDecimalObject);
         message(v_name);
    exception
         WHEN ORA_JAVA.JAVA_ERROR THEN
    -- In this case, the error would be
    -- Argument 1 can not be null
    message(ORA_JAVA.LAST_ERROR,acknowledge);

    -- Print out the Exception by using the toString()
    -- Method of the exception Object
    message(Exception_.toString(javaException),acknowledge);
    -- and clean up
    ORA_JAVA.CLEAR_EXCEPTION;
    END;
    Forms got compiled successfully.
    However, while invoking a service by pressing a button, getting following error at message bar:
    java.rmi.RemoteException:; nested exception is: HTTP transport error: javaxml.soap.SOAPException: java.security.PrivilegedAction
    Is there anything that I have missed in the configuration? or what else is causing it?

    I am getting a WSIF binding error when invoking an HTTP service. I was able to successfully invoke another HTTP service on the same server. However, while invoking some of the others services, we are getting errors. The wsdl binding declaration is:
    <binding name="JACADACustMaintBinding" type="tns:JACADACustMaintPortType">
    <http:binding verb="POST"/>

    <output>
    <mime:mimeXml part="CustMaintOutput"/>
    <mime:content type="text/xml"/>

    Hi,
    Using the exact same wsdl i was able to get a response from the HTTP service using OSB. I created a business service targeting this wsdl. Then created a proxy service to route the xml to the business service.
    I was able to successfully invoke and get response from the HTTP service without making any change to the wsdl.
    Could this be a bug in BPEL PM? Should I raise an SR?
