White Screen Persists
It seems I have tried every avenue short of removing the RAM from the computer, and continue to get a white screen. I can even get an image using the OPTION and C key method to access the INSTALL disc.
I have started up with
C key
Option Key
Shift Key
Command Option Shift Key
Command Option P and R Key
Only the Option key action prompts a password to access, but after that nothing, continued white screen.
All peripherals have been removed, I have also removed all cables for about 10 minutes, and restarted. Nothing.
Any ideas? DId I miss anything?

Need to add that I finally got to be able to run the Disk Utility off the install disc. It says that there are no problems, so, I re-installed my software and the computer screen was working as it should. After re-install, it restarted back to a white screen. Could this be a RAM issue?

Macbook-After start up sound white screen persists!!!!!!!
Help is urgently required. My macbook began to operate a little slow, e.g. spinning rainbow whenever I tried to operate anything. As a result I held power button to turn the computer off but when I tried to turn it back on (after the usual start up tone sounds) all I get is a white screen. White Screen When Trying to Play Movies / TV Shows Downloaded via AppleTV
Very frustrating, consistent issue with downloading movies or TV shows via AppleTV. Almost always results in a blank white screen with no sound and no video playing. No matter how many times I stop the video from playing, exit back out to the main menu, and restart the show, the white screen persists. The only thing that seems to fix it is to manually unplug the AppleTV, wait for 10+ sec, and then replug it in. Once AppleTV restarts, then I am able to watch the specific show I had been trying to watch. HOWEVER, the problem resurfaces as soon as I move onto the next movie or TV show.
Any suggestions on how to end this uber-annoying cycle?? I have all of the latest software downloaded. I have disconnected my iTunes library from AppleTV and then re-paired / re-synced the two (iTunes and AppleTV), and I have even tried resetting my AppleTV to factory settings (although given the volume of content I like to keep on my AppleTV, this leads to incredibly long timeframes to re-sync my AppleTV with my iTunes library). Any thoughts / suggestions / miracles would be hugely appreciated. THANKS!!!Hi
Can't help you I am afraid, but I can tell you that you are not alone. Keep having exactly the same problem. Rented a Movie this evening and had to pull the plug half way through the download to be able to start and watch it.
I do have the Apple TV connected through a HDMI switch and wondered if it may be copy protection HDCP or something so was going to try it on component when I find my set of cables.

White screen at reset. Won't start up with install disk.
White Screen persists on restart. Folder with ? appears after a few minutes. Tried safe start - nothing. Tried RAM reset (option, cmd, p, r) - nothing. Tried to restart with C key to use install disk, C drive powers and spins for awhile - nothing. Thought its was hard drive but, wouldn't install disk by pass that?
No outside devices plug in.
Son's computer, he plug in iphone and it wouldn't show on desktop so he reset the computer and now this.
Help!I have the same issue. I had noticed over previous weeks that the fan seemed to be on quite a lot when the computer was just left idling. Anyway- there is now an odd repetitive intermittent clicking as it tries to start up. Get nothing then the ? folder. I have tried all the tips in the manual. Managed to load utilities disk and there is no recognition of the HD at all. All a bit worrying...
Related questions- (1) are my iPod touch photos saved in full resolution on the iPod (or do you still have to enable the iPod for this?) (2) Can I download them from the iPod to another computer. (3) Can I do the same with iTunes?
If anyone has had a similar experience and been to an engineer / service provider I would love to hear what was found, and whether the HD was recoverable.

Trying to update OS to fix White Screen problem.
Hello, I have had my Blackberry 8520 on a Virgin contract for about a year and a half now. Recently it has started randomly just changing to a black white screen that won't allow me to turn it off or perform any functions. The way I temporarily fix this is to plug it into the charger which acts like a reboot and brings it back to normal (pulling the battery to reboot it just restores the white screen after loading). In trying to find the resolve to this problem, which I haven't yet, I rang the Virgin helpline who told me to update my OS. I currently have the version 5.0 Bundle 1096 and I am trying to update it to the 5.0 Bundle 1168. I have been having increasing problems with trying to do this. I updated my desktop software for Blackberry but updating through this software always brings up the message at the install stage (after backing up my data) - "An error has occured while downloading software for your device. Please verify your internet connection or try again later, if the problem persists." My internet is working fine and I have tried many times to update through this way. I have also tried updating through the blackberry website "web based updates area" that brings up the same message. Looking through over message boards, I tried the attempt at updating through the LOADER.EXE way. However after trying to download the OS manually to my computer, which my internet explorer thought was dangerous, it came up after with another error message - "Error 1335. The cabinet file 'Data1.cab' required for installation is corrupt and cannot be used. This could indicate a network error, an error from reading from the CD-ROM, or a problem with this package.' I am now out of ways to try and update my Blackberry and have no idea how to solve the white screen problem. Any help would be much appreciated. Karen x
Just to specify the final type of the updating I tried was following the instructions on this links - http://us.blackberry.com/support/apps-and-software/desktop-and-device-download-sites.html I choose Europe, Virgin Media, Blackberry curve 8520. I got the software on to my computer and the error message that came up, appeared after choosing language and agreeing to the terms and conditions and starting the installation. Sorry about the big clump of writing; the post removed all of my paragraphs when I posted it. New to this! And need help! Thanks x

I can't connect to game centre - suddenly just a blank white screen?
Please help - I've had my ipad for a few years and never an issue - all of a sudden yesterday Game Center won't open - none of my games connect so I logged directly on to the Game Center app icon and it just brings up a blank white screen. I have logged out of my apple account and logged back in again, I have switched the ipad off completely and then switched on again, I have checked that wifi is connected and I have gone into settings to open the game centre settings and again it just hangs - it has my Apple ID at the top and then a blank screen underneath. I'm at a loss what to try next ... Any ideas welcome!! Thank you.

My Iphone 4s is 2 years and 3 months old. the battery drains very quickly, sometimes turning off once it reaches 40% if I open an app or say the camera.
I charge it more than twice a day now as the battery life is so poor.
Also, when I take a photo, the phot sometimes shows in the album, but if I click on it, it shows up as a white screen and I cannot send the photo either as the recipient gets a blank screen.
I am not super flash with technology, so please be nice!
Thank youBasic troubleshooting from the User's Guide is reset, restart, restore (first from backup then as new). Try each of these in order until the issue is resolved.
If the issue persists, take the device to Apple for evaluation and possible replacement. -
[Solved] White screen after KDE 4.11.1 upgrade
Hi!
I updated the system going from KDE 4.11.0 to KDE 4.11.1. On reboot I got the correct loading of KDM, but upon arrival on the desktop the latter is presented fully white with big red button with an "X" in them. Thinking it was the configuration of kde, I deleted .kde4 with the effect that the next time I always white screen (that is only the red buttons have disappeared).
I try to remove completely kde with:
pacman -Rsnc kde
and seeing that reinstalling I get the same result, I also tried to clean up the cache pacman packages listed by the command:
ls kde*4.11.1*
so I redownload and reinstalled with:
pacman -Syu kde
without solution. I also tried to do what is recommended in the wiki, that is in addition to eliminating .kde4, I run:
$ rm ~/.config/Trolltech.conf
$ kbuildsycoca4 --noincremental
without solution.
Thinking then it might be the partition / almost full, I checked with:
df
but the partition is not filled even for half of the 30gb that is available.

THANKS, my White Screen was caused by a combination of issues but this solution worked for me.
My Problem -
I am not sure exactly what caused my white screen, I was playing around with /etc/profile & /etc/sudoers
What I changed -
sudoers - I added my user group to sudoers and allowed sudo to execute applications using xauth in home dir
profile - changed umask to 133 ( I hate execute bit ) and default text editor to nano
What Happened -
Tried to reload via source but no changes where taking effect so I rebooted.
Upon reboot I could not login to KDE, it would keep looping back to the KDM after I entered by password for my user, however it would let me login as root ( after I enabled root login ).
I figured this was a permission issue so I changed umask back to 022 in /etc/profile, I was then greeted with the White Screen after login. I read numerous posts about how to fix this, most said to reinstall kde and delete /tmp, none of this worked.
I deleted /var/tmp/kdecache-$USER and now I am back in business ( I had to re set the widgets, i.e. panel ).
I was so excited that I had to write a post about it!

It sounds like you are seeing a green Apple logo, and then a white screen before the computer boots to your user. I would start by updating your computer:
OS X: Updating OS X and Mac App Store apps

Then if the issue persists, I would perform a PRAM reset:

Shut down your Mac.
Locate the following keys on the keyboard: Option, Command (⌘), P, and R. You will need to hold these keys down simultaneously in step 4.
Turn on your Mac.
Immediately press and hold the Option-Command-P-R keys. You must press this key combination before the gray screen appears.Continue holding the keys down until your Mac restarts, and you hear the startup sound for the second time.
Release the keys.
Resetting PRAM may change some system settings and preferences. Use System Preferences to restore your settings.

so my iMac (it's not the most recent iMac if it makes any difference, and I'm running mountain lion 10.8.3) often freezes and I do a hard shutdown as I cannot force quit the applications or click on the apple in the top left to shut it down. When I come to turn it back on, I'm greeted with a white screen, in the middle of which is the dreaded folder with the flashing question mark in it. I've noticed that just before a freeze occurs, it starts running slowly and if I try going onto Facebook for example, it says that it cannot connect to facebook.com despite the internet connection being fine as I can browse things on Google. I have also noticed that before a freeze, in Finder, in All My Files, no files show. I went through this http://support.apple.com/kb/TS1440 and the problem still persists. Sometimes it does load fine if I shut it down again but when I eventually open up safari, if I had been on youtube for example, it will reload the page from a few videos before and not the one I was on when it actually froze.
Any help would be hugely appreciated,

Side note: When it says I must choose a community in order to post this, it only gives me a choice of 3 which are Mac OS X v10.4 Tiger, v10.5 Leopard, v10.6 Snow leopard, so apologies if this is posted in the wrong place - is there any way to get it moved to the correct place?Yes,easy fix but difficult to buy,think you can get them from the states (off the top of my head about £15).When you go to the apple store,tell yhem what you suspect and they will test if it is the cable or if its the hard drive,dosn't take that long and it's free.If you know what to do you can take the back off and with strong magnifying glass you might be able to see the fray look at the bend of the cable.

Try disabling graphics hardware acceleration. Since this feature was added to Firefox, it has gradually improved, but there still are a few glitches.
You might need to restart Firefox in order for this to take effect, so save all work first (e.g., mail you are composing, online documents you're editing, etc.).
Then perform these steps:
*Click the orange Firefox button at the top left, then select the "Options" button, or, if there is no Firefox button at the top, go to Tools > Options.
*In the Firefox options window click the ''Advanced'' tab, then select "General".
*In the settings list, you should find the ''Use hardware acceleration when available'' checkbox. Uncheck this checkbox.
*Now, restart Firefox and see if the problems persist.

I've been noticing as of late, that whenever I boot up my iMac, it seems stall and I get a persistent white screen. After a minute or two, the wallpaper comes up along with the icon and the dock. It seems as if the Finder is having some issues loading. I didn't have these issues after my initial installation when everything seemes to run beautifully. Anyone else having this issue and possibly know what may be causing it?

TimI've seen this when I have another monitor plugged in, it needs to load it too. Without the second monitor plugged in, the apple logo beecomes a darker grey then slides up and fades out over the apple logo on the login screen and lets you log in.

Curve 9300 White screen problem, PLEASE HELP!
Hi guys, so basically, I've been having this problem for a little while now of which my phone freezes at a random stage, white screens with the red LED light ON and reboots itself. I have tried several things from this forum so far.
I have backed up the phone on desktop manager
I have re-installed the OS twice now, (downgrading OS's)
I tried to use the phone without the memory card or SIM in, I used an app called 'kik' for a little while, but eventually as suspected it froze, white screened and the issue persisted.
I can easily text one person on the phone, but as soon as I receive a text as I'm typing it freezes the phone, white screens, reboots. Back to square one.
Something you may need to know is that a while ago, I was in a storm, the phone did get slightly wet, and it did actually stop working. I placed it in a tub of rice for the night, and hey presto it worked again, was happy with that, but from just about a few days after it was working fine, it started doing this.
Is it the water damage creating this problem, if so would a repair store be able to fix this problem for me?
The phone is in a tub of rice again right now, doubt it'll make a difference though.

While the rice trick is good, only waiting 8 hours ("for the night") is dangerous...typically, waiting 5 days in the rice before applying any power is needed, and even then there are no guarantees. Applying power to your BB between it getting wet and doing this process reduces the chances of success. Further, the only thing predictable about moisture intrusion into a BB (indeed, any electronic device) is that the results will be unpredictable. I've seen some come back up right away and be fine. I've seen others never work at all. I've seen still others run for a bit, and then die later. And every thing in between.
From what you describe, I would deduce that the 24 hours in the rice was not long enough, and corrosion continued internally, exacerbated by the application of power, eventually resulting in complete failure.
As for if anyone can fix it...at an internet distance, that is impossible to say. Only in-hand evaluation by a qualified BB hardware technician can provide you with a proper evaluation and estimate.

my screen is completely white, i've tried holding lock and home buttons as seen on you tube something called 'white screen of death' its goes black (think it switches off) then back to the white screen need help fast please!
If you have not done a factory reset on the device, I recommend doing a complete factory reset.
Factory Reset - Warning this will reset device back to original factory settings.
This method will not erase any MDN/MIN information
Turn off the phone
Press Power + Volume Up/Down at the same time and hold until display will show a triage android screen
Display will show:
Reboot system Now
Apply sdcard:update.zip
Wipe Data/Factory Reset
Wipe Cache Partition
Use VOL Down key to scroll down to "Wipe Data/Factory Reset", press home icon to select option and wipe device.
Display shows "All user data will be wiped out", press VOLUME Up to continue or VOLUME Down to exit.
Press Volume Up
Press Home to select "Reset System Now" - device will reboot
If the problem persist I recommend having a store technician take a look at the device.
