  • Why can't I buy HD movies on iTunes for Windows?

    Hi,
Was hoping someone could help me with an issue I'm having trying to purchase HD movies on iTunes using a Windows 7 system.
When trying to purchase the movie in HD, I get the following message:
The thing is, I was able to buy 3 HD movies previously, but over the last few months, it hasn't been working. When I close the above window, it takes me to the system requirements, which I think I have.
Windows System Requirements for HD content:
32 or 64-bit version of Windows 7; Windows XP and Vista do not support HDCP
    iTunes 10 or later
2.0 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo or faster processor
At least 1 GB of RAM
A video driver that supports HDCP (you may need to check with the manufacturer to determine if your video driver supports HDCP)
A display that supports HDCP with a screen resolution of 1024x768 or higher with a digital connection (DVI, DisplayPort, or HDMI)
    Here are my system details:
    Windows 7 Home Premium
    Dell Inspiron 537S
    Pentinum (R) Dual-Core CPU ES300 @ 2.60GHz 2.60 GHz
    4.00 GB RAM memory
    64-bit Operating System
    iTunes 10.4
The only ones I'm not sure about are the last 2 bullets. I called Dell and I was told I didn't need a new monitor, but just a video card. I didn't trust the representative's answer too mcuh.
Does anyone know what I'm missing to be able to purchase HD movies?
If it helps, the movie I was trying to purchase was Transformers: Dark of the Moon
    Thank you!

    Do you have?
A video driver that supports HDCP (you may need to check with the manufacturer to determine if your video driver supports HDCP)

  • Why can't I buy HD movies?

Why can't I buy HD movies the same way I can buy HD TV shows?
Apple has now made it easy to buy HD TV shows (and with 2.2, via the Apple TV). You get an HD version for playback on your computer or Apple TV and an SD version for playback on your iPod. Why can't we do this for movies? After all, the HD versions are available to rent!
I am hesitant to buy movies from Apple as a result, because I would get better results buying the Blu-ray version. If I could buy them in HD, it would be a no-brainer.

I can understand why the studios would want to get the most they can out of selling HD movies. But by now they must be seeing the writing on the wall. iTunes and other online delivery services wrote the eventual death of hardcopy media long before the HDDVD/BluRay war ended. If I'm not mistaken (and I am on many occasions), didn't Microsoft and Netflix announce an online delivery partnership shortly after HDDVD threw in the towel? The only hardcopy media of any kind I have purchased since I got my AppleTV are shows and movies that I collect.
I would venture a guess that it's only a matter of time before HDTVs start coming with internal hard drives and wireless capability. In the next ten years or so, the way we watch movies and TV shows will change drastically, and the only reason for broadcast/cable TV will be to watch live events like news or sporting events. But they too will eventually be coming via online sources as well. The broadcast networks are going to have to make major changes in the way they do business and how they deliver their product in order to remain viable.
HD movie sales will be available soon enough. It's only a matter of time.
    98 cents change, please.

  • Why can't I buy a movie that I pre-ordered, with the iTunes card already redeemed?

See, I bought an iTunes card the other day and redeemed it that same day. After doing so, I pre-ordered a movie that was expected to be released on the 18th of March(today). So I tried to purchase the movie I pre-ordered with the credit I redeemed from the iTunes card, but it is asking for my billing information. So I clicked on the link where it says "To redeem code, click here", and it asked me to enter a code. My concern is why can't I buy that movie I pre-ordered with I the money I have in my iTunes account?

You didn't purchase the movie, you pre-ordered it. So the code works to put in the pre-order for the movie. So it's on hold, so to speak. Then when the movie comes out (and only then) are you actually billed, so you have to enter the code again in case you or someone else who has access to your computer used some -- perhaps too much of the credit in the meantime.
If I use a regular credit card and pre-order something, oftentimes there is some kind of perk or extra included along with it for me in return for pre-ordering. Like an extra feature for example. I don't actually get billed until I actually get the movie and so it's kinda like that.
    Did you lose the code?
If you did, I'm sorry, but you could call Apple & hopefully they will make things right.

    No you cannot.
You can only make a backup dvd of your movies, fo use in itunes on yur computer.  You cannot burn a video product to dvd to watch on a dvd player, just as you cannot copy a dvd that you purchase.

  • Why can't I buy a movie in original language (english) because I live in Switzerland?

I really grinds my gears that I'm restricted to mostly German, French or Italian for the choice of the language of the movies I want to watch. I have to check every movie to make sure it is available in english, and I can only see that information on iTunes on my computer, which also ****** me off.
Apple, please do something about it. Why can I buy a DVD which will automatically have the original version in it, and not be able to buy a movie from iTunes without having to make sure it is in english when the movie WAS MADE IN ENGLISH...?

Because the movie studios released the movie to Apple with only those languages available.

Also, you should write the movie studios and tell them you want iTunes releases to be released with the original language as well as the language of the country it is released in.

  • Why can't I buy the movie "Tracers" on Apple TV?

So I watched the trailer of the movie "Tracers" then I wanted to BUY the movie on my AppleTV. The only option available is to RENT the movie on my AppleTV. Why can't I buy it? If anyone knows why this is please let me know.
    Thanks

Some movies may only be available for rent or only available to buy at different times.
Tracers is currently only available to Rent. There's nothing to do but wait for the Studio / rights owners to make it available for purchase.

  • Why can't I see a movie in itunes although it shows as playing? The screen is black.

I played a movie last night and I have two others to watch. I selected one and the movie launched. The timer indicates it is showing. However, the screen is black. I thought there might be someting wrong with this movie, so I selected the other movie and I have the same issue. Now both movies are going to expire and I can't watch either one. Any ideas on how to resolve this issue?

    Hey there Dhart52215,
It sounds like you were not able to watch a rental because the video was black, and had no audio. That can be pretty frustrating, and I would start by reporting a problem with the rentals to the iTunes Store support directly with this article:
How to report an issue with your iTunes Store, App Store, Mac App Store, or iBooks Store purchase
    http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1933
I would also recommend using the following article to help troubleshoot the video issue on the computer, to help prevent this from happening to you again:

  • Why can't I rent a movie from iTunes on my Macbook Pro?

I am trying to rent a movie from iTunes on my Macbook Pro but when I click on the gray rent movie button it does NOTHING, like I never clicked on it.  I am signed in, I authorized the computer and have rented movies in the past.   I do have OS X 10.5.8 and iTunes 10.6.3(25) because I haven't purchased new software to upgrade something that works just fine, until now. I'm not sure if the software is the problem because I have rented movies in the past 6 months. I have just tried to purchase other movies, and even songs, and it doesn't do anything when I click the gray price to purchase the song.  Please help.

Same exact thing just started happening to me. Same issues as you. I have tried restarting itunes and reinstalling many times with no luck at all.

  • If I buy a movie on iTunes will I be able to watch it on my iPhone without wifi?

I'm going on holiday to France next week, and would like to buy a movie (The Breakfast Club) to watch during the journey on my iPhone. Will I be able to watch it without wifi? Or do you have to have wifi to watch? I would have thought that as soon as it's downloaded you can watch it without wifi but I wanted to double check in case I bought the film them couldn't watch it. Thank you!

Once the movie has completey download, having an Internet connection is no longer necessary. It would be wise to test the movie before you leave, though, in case of glitches.
    Regards.

  • I can't sync my iPhone 5 in iTunes. This just started about 3 weeks ago???

I bought my iPhone 5 on 11-7-12, 12:25:25 p.m., from the AT&T store in Norman, OK. Everything has been fine, up until about three weeks ago, around the time that the 6.0.2 iOS update was sent out. I don't *know* that that is what is causing the problem. But when I connect my iPhone to my computer, on *ANY* of the USB ports, it isn't recognized in iTunes. The iPhone "chirps" and the battery will charge, while connected to the laptop, but the iPhone doesn't show up in iTunes, and when I click on "Devices," -- "Sync," "Transfer Purchases," "Backup," and "Restore from Backup -- are all "greyed out," and therefore, I can't click on them. My iOS has since been updated to iOS 6.1.
    Many thanks,
    Quinn Carr

To German 123: Thank you for the link, but that is the first thing I did, however, the iphone 5 is not being recognized as even being connected. So therefore, no device registers in that category. I have re-downloaded itunes, but to no avail. All iTunes updates are current. This is very frustrating. Also, I have turned off WiFi in case that was the interference. No luck. Grrrrrrr...........My problelm is exactly like "themightyquinn39"'s problem. I have had my iphone since it came out last fall. This must be an update problem through Apple. They always seem to fix something that isn't broken.

  • Why can't I buy the movie The Eagle on iTunes?

Does anyone know why The Eagle movie can not be purchased on iTunes?

Because the owners of the movie have not yet agreed to license it for sale in the iTunes Store. When, or if, they will do so, no one here can say. Amazon doesn't have it either, so it's apparently just not being licensed for download sale/viewing. You can express your interest here:
    http://www.apple.com/feedback/itunes.html
Apple may be able to use such feedback to try and convince the studio that it would be in their best interests to license the movie to the iTunes Store.
    Regards.
