Why can't I purchase and download Mountain Lion? I get the following message: The product distribution file could not be verified. It may be damaged or was not signed.
I have tried to re-install Lion, delete different cach folders, etc., nothing is working - I keep getting the same message:
We could not complete your purchase
The product distribution file could not be verified. It may be damaged or was not signed.
Please can anyone be of kind assistance.
Thank you!

I have tried to re-install Lion
If you are trying to reinstall Lion, you need to use Lion Recovery
Why can't I purchase and download Mountain Lion? I get the following message: The product distribution file could not be verified. It may be damaged or was not signed.
For that issue, quit the App Store if it's open.
Open the Finder. From the Finder menu bar top of your screen click Go > Go to Folder
Type this exactly as you see it here:
/Library/Preferences/SystemConfiguration
Click Go
Move the NetworkInterfaces.plist file from the SystemConfiguration folder to the Trash.
Relaunch the App Store and try downloading MLion.
***** Your post is rather confusing. There's a difference between reinstalling Lion and downloading Mountain Lion.

When clicking 'buy' for Mountain Lion in the App store I get the message "product distribution file could not be verified, it may be damaged or was not signed' Anybody know why I get this message. Thanks
Make sure your Mac qualifies for Mountain Lion > Upgrade your Mac to OS X Mountain Lion.
If you have anti virus software installed, disable that before downloading apps.
Turn off the Firewall in System Preferences > Security (or Security & Privacy) > Firewall
Try deleting the cache, cookies, and preference files (plist) associated with the App Store.
Quit the App Store if it's open.
Open the Finder. From the Finder menu bar click Go > Go to Folder
Type this exactly as you see it here:
~/Library/Caches/com.apple.appstore/Cache.db
Click Go
Move the Cache.db file to the Trash.
Now here:
~/Library/Preferences
Click Go
Move these files from the Preferences folder to the Trash.
com.apple.appstore.plist
com.apple.storeagent.pllist
Now here:
~/Library/Cookies
Click Go
Move the com.apple.appstore.plist file from the Cookies folder to the Trash.
Empty the Trash, try the App Store. -
I get this as a pop up when I try to purchase and install "Pages" and "Numbers" on my brothers iMac. Thoughts as to what I might be doing wrong?
Please read this whole message before doing anything.
This procedure is a diagnostic test. It’s unlikely to solve your problem. Don’t be disappointed when you find that nothing has changed after you complete it.
The purpose of the test is to determine whether the problem is caused by third-party software that loads automatically at startup or login, by a peripheral device, or by corruption of certain system caches.
Disconnect all wired peripherals except those needed for the test, and remove all aftermarket expansion cards. Boot in safe mode and log in to the account with the problem. Note: If FileVault is enabled on some models, or if a firmware password is set, or if the boot volume is a software RAID, you can’t do this. Ask for further instructions.
Safe mode is much slower to boot and run than normal, and some things won’t work at all, including sound output and Wi-Fi on certain iMacs. The next normal boot may also be somewhat slow.
The login screen appears even if you usually log in automatically. You must know your login password in order to log in. If you’ve forgotten the password, you will need to reset it before you begin. Test while in safe mode. Same problem? After testing, reboot as usual (i.e., not in safe mode) and verify that you still have the problem. Post the results of the test. -

Why can't I purchase and download product?
I am a Puerto Rico resident. I have been an Adobe customer for more than 10 years purchasing products online and downloading them. I tried to purchase/subscribe to Photoshop CC but could not do it online. I called the Sales dept. and was told the problem is that reside in Puerto Rico!!! Doesn't Adobe know that Puerto Rico is a U.S. jurisdiction??? Adobe's refusal to sell to and allow PR residents to purchase online and download products is unfair, discriminatory and illegal. Can any one at Adobe help me or will I have to file a lawsuit to get this matter resolved?
I forgot to mention that I constantly receive email messages from Adobe advertising its Photoshop CC plan subscriptions. I downloaded the trial version that is about to expire in two (2) days. The ads fail to mention that Adobe will not allow PR residents to download products (Adobe has my credit card info on its record!!).

Start from the clean installation of Lion.
Download Mountain Lion from the Mac App Store. Note that the original startup disk can be set as the destination for Mountain Lion during the installation process. -

I tried to download the latest OSX for my iMac - Mountain Lion.
This is the message that I received:
"We could not complete your purchase. The product distribution file could not be verified. It may be damaged or was not signed."

Power down. Then press power button and hold 'shift' key until grey screen with progress bar appears... Once booted and logged in just open safari and browse to applestore.
No trouble at all once I did this.
Reminder: create full backup before you upgrade OS
