Why can't I use my Apple ID to log into icloud?

It keeps telling me that It's not a valid icloud account even though I downloaded the icloud software. I looked for a specific link to sign up to icloud with, but it keeps me moving in in a circle, back to the home page. Am I missing something?

Where do I find that..I've never set one up? Now in trying to login at the site its says I must set up icloud on a iOS or OS X device before I can use icloud...those devices I don't have...can I download anyone to my Windows 7 system?

If you activated the Find My iPhone service (in System preferences>icloud), then you can try to track it. Using another computer's browser, log into icloud.com and look at the Find My iPhone page. On a device, invoke the Find My iPhone app (get it for free at the itunes app store) and log into the icloud account. Note: The Find My iPhone **app** does not turn on the service, you can only do that through Settings>icloud.
If the mac is listed as "offline", then you can't track it.

if your Apple ID isn't a @me.com address then you can't iCloud mail works with @me.com addresses, you can add any other address to mail on any device.

Is your Apple ID one of the old ones which isn't an email address but simply a username? you can't use that to make an iCloud account.
I'm not sure whether you can change the ID to an email address (such as a free GMail address) at http://applied.apple.com - you could try that; if you can't do that you will have to create a new Apple ID for use with iCloud. You can still use the present one for these forums and iTunes.

My partner and I both have seperate iTunes accounts, understandably. And we both use our appleTV, understandably. Why can't we set up apple TV to play music / watch shows from both of our computers? I hope this is not because I haven't read the manual.

You CAN use the ATV to share more than one iTunes library. Homesharing however require you to use the SAME apple ID on both computer. I have homesharing turned on both my girlfriend and my computer with me signed in on both computers and the ATV. Both itunes librarie show up on the ATV as long as both computer are ON.

For me it's the same, I've just bought an iPad mini two weeks ago but I cannot log in with any Apple account in FaceTime.
I enter my apple account in faceTime, then I press next the second screen and it shows "validating..." but it never gets validated.

Cannot use my Apple ID to log into Support Communities

I can't log into support communities using my Apple ID.
I have to log in using an older e-mail address I used when Apple first started cloud-like services MANY YEARS ago.
The e-mail address I have to use is obsolete and I'd just like to abandon its use for support communities.
When I try to log into support communities with my Apple ID the site starts acting like a Microsoft site and keeps redirecting me in loops to the same nonfunctional page.
Weird, I know, that's why I'm writing this.

HT5622 I used my Apple ID to log into my cousins new iPod. Now all of his contet (mainly photos) keeps re-appearing on my other devices. Help!!

Like all of his photos in his photo stream sync to my ipad and it's real irritating. Is there anyway to remove his device from my iCloud? What if I make him a new Apple ID to sign into? Would that solve the problem? And if I have to restore his iPod, where can I save his photo's too.

I'm sure that we're not alone on this issue. It just makes no sense why apple would do this. I suppose this is only due to the fact that iTunes has been out far longer than the newer iCloud implementation. Kind of like putting the cart before the horse. Now it seems as the apple has to work backwards to try and get its existing and potential customer base to start switching over to their unique email system. I wish they would hurry up for simplicity sake.

Because photo stream is a sync service, it is not a storage service where you can post gallaries and view photos directly in icloud.com.
It's only used for syncing photos between devices and computers.

Any assistance you can give me would be much appreciated, don’t sigh please … can’t login to BY Yahoo Mail from the BT home page.
I thought I had been lucky as everything had been working fine for us, until today. I and my family can login to our email accounts no problem with MS Outlook, but we do have a number of PC’s/Laptops that don’t have an email client on them hence trying to login via the BT home page.
All running Windows 7, various IE versions from 8 to 10, and the same thing happens.
We get to the email login page, type in our email address, we type in our password, click the login button or “return” on the keyboard and nothing happens. Well not quite nothing, the typed in email address and password areas are cleared and then nothing else happens.
This happens for all of the primary and secondary emails that we have. Exactly the same, the boxes get cleared and nothing happens. Worked fine before today.
I did renew my contract this week and the order was “processed” today, could be a coincidence ?
Anyway, any pointers ? After spending over an hour this week being passed backwards and forwards between sales and the “retention team” getting a deal on my renewal of my contract I really can’t be bothered with a few hours with India.

PS, just noticed the log in page has changed, it now has a “stay logged in” button !
