Why charge for Bank transfers?

BT penalises everyone who doesnt pay by direct debit because they claim that it "costs" more to process the payments. What about online payments made by BACS transfer? Surely they should not be charging for those because they are electronic payments that go straight into BT's account!!
I cannot see what charges are involved there. We refuse to use Direct debit because too many problems arise where mistakes are made with people's bills....BT take the money and then the customer has the hassle of chasing up for refunds and dealing with all kinds of other infuriating issues. We prefer to keep control of our own money, thank you.
Why dont they lift the penalties on direct BACS transfer?

webduck wrote:
That's besides the point. The issue is about control over one's own bank account, NOT the fact that your "friendly bank" will refund the money in the case of a wrong bill. If we had control over our accounts, it wouldnt happen in the first place. And no-one has answered my question. Why does BT charge for an electronic payment method that puts the money directly into their account?
see here:
http://bt.custhelp.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/9855/~/how-can-i-pay-my-bill%3F
Although this page says,
You may be able to pay your bill through a simple bank transfer from your current account, over the phone or online. We don't charge for this facility, but you should check with your bank or building society concerning any charges or terms and conditions that might apply.
However BT refuted this when I asked the question on LiveChat. So come on.....is it free of charges or isnt it?
You missed the section just a little bit further down the page:
Information about the payment processing feeCustomers choosing not to pay by Whole Bill Direct Debit or Monthly Payment Plan will be charged a payment processing fee of £1.80 a month / £5.40 a quarter. The payment processing fee will be charged by BT Payment Services Ltd, a separate BT Group company. This fee is one of the lowest in the industry.
Most of the utility companies now offer discounts for paying by Direct Debit (or will only accept payment that way).  BT is just being a bit different by charging an extra fee for not using DD, rather than offering a discound for using it.
As I said before, companies really like being paid on-time, and in the olden days of paper bills and paying by cheque, many people paid late.  DD solves this problem from BT's point of view - and they are the ones who set the charges.

  • Can I create File Formats for Bank Transfers?

    Hello Everyone!
I need to know if Sap B1 2007A allow me to create File Formats for bank transfers in outgoing payments. I¨m in Colombia, South America, and working as Chile does.
It is available documentation related to this issue?
    Thanks very much

    Kerstin,
    Thanks for the information.
I might be wrong, but I understood that SAP did allow you to create dll files for this purpose. In the Document Resource Center in the Add-ons section, click on Payment Engine. There is a document called
'Payment Engine Plug-in Development Guide in Release 6.5'.
Claudia - you might want to see if this document is any use for you.
Although the name shows release 6.5, this document still appears for both 2005 and 2007.
I also checked 2007A and it still has the prompt for File Format.
As I said, I might be wrong, because I do not know anyone who has tried to create a plug-in, but if this is not for creating your own dll files, do you know what it is for?
Let me know what you think.
    Regards,

  • Bank Payment Registers for Bank Transfers

    Hi
We are not able to print Payment Register for Bank Transfers.  GL Transaction Journal has no Ref 3 field used in Banking Payment.
It is important to list all Incoming and Outgoing Bank Transfers other than Check Payments.
    Kedalene Chong

    Hello,
I was wondering whether you are referring to something like Check Register Report where you would like to see just bank transfer transactions or just to an enhancement to existing GL Transaction Journal with separate display of bank transfers? What other details you would like to see in such display?
Could you please desribe a business case (daily scenario) in which you would use such enhancement?
    Thank you.

    Hi Benjamins,
I've checked your account—you have two ExportPDF subscriptions. One placed on October 20 2013, and the other placed on October 11 of this year. So, you were probably charged the auto renewal for the subscription placed in 2013, and then the new charge for this year's order.
Please Contact Customer Care so that an agent can help get things situated for you. There's no reason to have two subscriptions to the same service, so an agent can help you cancel one, if you'd like.

  • How to maintain default cost center at House Bank Account level for Bank charges

Hello All - We have 4 Bank accounts and all of them are assigned to the same transaction type.
As of now, we have OKB9 set up maintained for Bank charges at Co Cd level and it is posted to the same GL A/c.
Now, My requirement is that I need to have different Cost center maintained for 2 of the 4 House Bank Accounts.
Can you pls let me know if any possibility.
    Thanks

Interesting requirement. This can be achieved through Search String as suggested by Mr. Shanid.
Try to find a text in the note to payee line for bank charges for creating a search string.
For Example. See below note to payee line and assume this line for bank charges.
16,455,130155,0,5/3 BANKCARD SYS  CH,,5/3 BANKCARD SYS  CHARGBACKS.
Identify a text which should always come with this line for every EBS file for bank charges. Assume here "BANKCARD".
    Now go to T-code OTPM.
    Click on create
    Srch strg name:  Bank Charges
    Description:     Bank Charges
Search String: BANKCARD ( Based on this text system will search your not to payee line)
Once you press enter, you will get mapping details on the left side with target field "BANKCARD". Now remove the BANKCARD from target field and put there cost center which you will post for one house bank. Save the data.
    Now move to second step.
    Click on Search String Use.
    Put your company code,
    House bank(mandatroy in your case).
Interpretation Algorithm( same as you maintained in OT83 for posting rule with external transaction type).
    Search String: BANKCARD.
    Target Field: Cost Center.
    Save.
Sorry I am not getting option to attach screenshot in SCN now. Dont know why.
Let us know if you have any doubts.
    Hi Mr. Shanid,
Correct me if I am wrong.
    Regards,
    Mohammed

  • Why am I being charged for THEIR mistake?

I signed up online to have new internet service started along with phone service.  I was told it would be on May 6th.  A guy even came to my home and told me it would be turned on that night.  After 2 days with still no internet, I called and complained about it.  I was told it actually wouldn't be turned on until May 16th!  I was understandably upset about this and complained.  They told me they would send me a dongle at no charge for my inconvenience to hold me over until the service was turned on in my home.  I get my first bill and they have charged me £40 for the dongle that they offered to me!!! Why on earth are they charging me for it?  Based on my experience so far with BT, I already cannot wait to switch providers!!!!  Now to make matters worse, they are direct debiting £147 from my account for service from May to August, when I had requested monthly billing, NOT quarterly!  Does it ever get any better with these folks @ BT?

    Hi CanYouHearMeNow,

  • Why am I  being charged for a phone I owned outright?

My fully paid for phone was stolen. I was advised that the Edge program was my best option for replacement & I  choose to go with that option. But why am I  charged $300.00 for my old phone in addition to the monthly charge for the new phone on the new program. Where did that amount even come from? as my 1st question said it was fully paid for. In reading the contract I don't see where you have to turn in the phone at the start, only if you "edge up" & I didn't do that.
Message edited as required by the Verizon Wireless Terms of Service
Message was edited by: Admin Moderator

You can't buy out a 2 year contract without losing your number.  Dumb, but true for other carriers also.
You can buy out an Edge installment agreement.
Your cheapest option was to purchase a replacement phone at full retail price.  Which for a Droid Turbo is $549
In 2 or 3 months when your old 2 year contract expires, call and ask for the out of contract discount. Depending on your data plan you will get $15 or $25 monthly line credit for being out of contract.  That will offset your Edge payment, netting either a payment of $7, or a credit of $3 (based on the Edge payment of $22)

  • Why am I being charged for data when connected to wifi AND not using my phone?!

WHY am I being charged for data that I'm not using? At times when I'm asleep AND my phone is connected to wifi?!  This happens at really specific, alternating times like 9:54 pm every day, or 12:01 am, 6:01 am and then 12:01pm and 6:01pm. When I called I was told  "maybe your wifi at home is disconnecting" or "maybe your phone is connecting to atnt or sprint". It's not possible that my phone is disconnecting from wifi every six hours on the dot and, at that exact time, I'm always using data. I find it hard to believe that I live in a HUGE city and my phone magically connects to other networks and I NEVER notice this. Verizon is full of LIARS (and maybe’s) and I'm not convinced that these data charges are a coincidence. I was told to turn off my cellular data to see if the problem resolves itself. Why should I alter my daily life when Verizon is clearly the one with the issue? I hope there's a class action lawsuit because Verizon is trying to get over on everyone! I need answers!

        Hello NotHappy101,
I think it's quite odd that your data usage is at very specific times. We can certainly take a closer look. Please reply to my Direct Message, so we can get some additional details.

  • I am already paying for data so why is there a charge for tethering?

I would really like to upgrade my Droid to a Droid 4 and use the WiFi hot spot feature. I have not done so yet because Verizon wants to charge me to use this feature of the phone. This appears to be illegal and I cannot understand and justify paying a monthly fee for something I am already paying for. I have seen a few posts on other websites trying to explain why Verizon or any other provider can charge for enabling a feature and not providing any additional service to the consumer however they are all very flawed attempts. I just want a VERY VERY VERY good reason why this is legal and justifiable. Please give me a convincing argument as to why anyone can charge twice for the same thing.
Tethering does not increase the data capacity of the phone. Tethering allows the phone to act as a bridge (modem) between a device to the network.
    Q: Does Bandwidth increase?
A: No, if the bandwidth to your phone is 8 Mbps, enabling tethering does not change the bandwidth therefore if a YouTube video is running on the phone and three other devices tethered to the phone they will be sharing the 8 Mbps bandwidth. This means that each device would only be able to use 2 Mbps of bandwidth under heavy usage. (You will not actually get an even split for several reasons and all combined will be less than 8 Mbps but that is due to overhead and OS limitations.)
Q: Am I allowed to use more data now that I am paying more?
A: No, if your data plan is for 2 GB per month, you will be charged extra for using more than 2 GB in one month. This includes the data usage of the phone and other devices while they are tethered to your phone.
Q: Is there any reason to charge for tethering?
A: (My opinion but I would like to be proven wrong.) The only possible justifiable reason may be for those who have unlimited data plans. Verizon and other providers must provide a level of service that customers will be pleased with. I could be wrong but it would be difficult for someone to use too much data on their phone alone. (I know there are exceptional cases but this is true for the majority.) Verizon and other providers plan the network based on an average (i.e. 1 GB per month) usage for each phone with data. It is much easier and more likely users would consume more data if a device such as a laptop is tethered to the phone therefore users with unlimited plans would cost the provider more money to increase the bandwidth of the backbone. (Limited plans will be charged more but unlimited data customers are not as there is no limit, which is a problem.)
IMHO: The right thing for Verizon and other providers to do is to stop requesting that phones be shipped which require a provision from the provider so they can charge for the feature. There is legal precedent that it is illegal for a provider of a service to charge a customer for additional devices using their services if the provider is not providing additional service.
In order for Verizon and other providers to address issues with network capacity and unlimited data subscribers there are a few options available. One is to provide an incentive for those users to switch from unlimited to limited data plans or provide a credit for a device upgrade, etc. An other option is to keep things as they are with phone provisioning but provide tethering to limited data users for no additional charge and to charge users with unlimited plans for tethering. (BTW: I think is the best option.)
FYI: I do have an unlimited data plan and would be willing to switch to limited data if tethering were included and the prices were the same. Right now there is no incentive for me to switch to a different data plan especially if I need to pay for tethering in addition to limited data. I currently have an iPad with AT&T service which is an additional fee I am paying but if I drop the AT&T plan, upgrade my phone, and add tethering, I would be paying more and getting less so why should I? (The less is that my iPad would not get email updates, etc. except when I turn the WiFi hot spot on, which I understand runs down the battery so you do not want it on 24x7. Oh, another reason Verizon and others should not charge for tethering as tethering is not available 24x7)
Please I would like some straight honest answers to why it is legal for Verizon and others to charge for tethering and why I should pay for it.

I want clarify what I am asking for as I fear that many people may be thinking what Wildman stated which is not true. I think it is presumptuous for Wildman to think that I am not sincere and that I will not award points for a correct answer. The closest one to come to a correct answer thus far is jimfitzgerald however I need to see the policy or something in writing that explains what jimfitzgerald stated.
To help clarify what I am looking for, I will respond to some earlier posts as I think it may help.
BTW: I think it is premature to ask that points be awarded but I will put a deadline and a default to this discussion. If I don't see a good answer to this post by next weekend, I plan to award the points to Wildman as the points seem to be of importance. I am actually hoping that a good answer is provided so that it will help anyone else who is in the same situation as myself. I think there must be a good answer as I would hope that carriers would not charge for this feature if they are really not providing an additional service. I also would hope that customers are not gullible enough to pay for something twice which on the surface this appears to be. This does seem to come up enough that the carriers should do a better job explaining what they are providing.

Quote: "Also, the tethering plan does add capacity to your plan."
Response: Please provide a reference to the Verizon Source which states this and I will award points as this is an acceptable answer and is what I am looking for as stated in my original post. I cannot just accept a general statement like this as it will carry no wait if I get charged for going over my data limit.
From: rcschnoor on Feb 18, 2012 at 1:21 PM
Quote: "Question #1 ... you will be consuming TWICE as much data ..."
Response: This is incorrect as the 4G LTE connection will not be able to provide any more data per second than the phone itself. I think you meant to state that you may consume your limit of n GB per month in a period of a week on a laptop verses 3 weeks on the phone which is correct. If you continue to consume data past your limit, you will need to pay more for it so what is your point? If you don't pay more for going over if you have the tethering plan then that makes all the difference. This would be my misunderstanding and would be an acceptable answer. If this is the case, please point me to the Verizon documentation which states this and I will award points.
From: rcschnoor on Feb 18, 2012 at 1:21 PM
Quote: "Question #2 ... You get an ADDITIONAL allowance for your use when you activate a mobile hot-spot."
Response: This seems to allude to the fact that I may not understand how data usage is counted when tethering is added to your plan. Please provide a reference so I can read it and I will award points. Hopefully we are coming to answer here.
From: rcschnoor on Feb 18, 2012 at 1:21 PM
Quote:  "Question #3 ... but I don't think anyone would be happy with a monthly data bill of $60+ dollars."
Response: You are correct which is why I am having an issue with this. If I upgrade and keep my current unlimited plan, I will be paying $75 per month for data and tethering. To make matters worse, currently I am not a heavy data user as much of the time I have access to WiFi. I am considering switching to a 2 GB per month plan based on my current usage but I hate to give up my current plan as I will not be able to go back. I will switch however if the tethering was not an added cost or there is in fact an additional data allocation for tethered devices. I already feel that I am overpaying for data based on my current usage. The problem with switching plans is I could see if I have tethering, I may go over one or two months per year as once in a great while I need access and do not have WiFi available.
FYI: Here is a breakdown of my current usage.
              - Verizon Phone: (Unlimited data @ $45/month) Average Usage 0.23 GB/month
              - AT&T iPad: (2 GB/month @ $25) Average usage 0.89 GB/month
I do have another problem with switching which is unrelated to the data plan but is related to usage but will increase my cost per month.
From: jimfitzgerald on Feb 18, 2012 at 1:33 PM
Quote: "Or, in summary, charging for tethering is a way to make the people who use lots of data pay for it, rather than having everyone share the cost whether they use it or not."
Response: Sorry but my experience is just the opposite.
I would like to thank everyone who has tried to answer this question. It looks like there may be an answer but I would like to see it explained in black and white from the Verizon site. I cannot switch plans based on posts in this forum alone. If I were to switch then get hit with additional charges one month, I cannot call customer service and say that jimfitzgerald and rcschnoor told me that there was an additional data being provided to tethered devices.
I hope this helps and I hope this can be answered soon.

Apple should take resonsibility for this, otherwise they will lose lots of loyal customers. I have moved away from the ipad due to expense and am now very tempted to do so away from the iphone. Selling a product that prompts an update that breaks the phone is not good.

Have had the same issues with iPhone 4S since the upgrade.  No wifi button, battery draining every 8 hours with no use, phone shutting on & off for no reason at all.  I gave in and tried the hair dryer method.  Turned the phone off and hel d the dryer over the camera lense area for one minute.  Turned the phone back on and to my shock, had wifi button back again.  That was 2 days ago.  Battery is lasting normal amount of time again and I can use wifi again!  Hopefully this will last.  I know it doesn't work for everyone but it doesn't hurt to try.  Much better than spending the $200 at the Apple store, which by the way, the genius said Apple is aware of the problems but there is nothing they can do.

Having the same issue: iOS 7.0.2 with no WiFi / poor Battery stamina and really slow software experience when opening several options at Settings icon.
Apple care agent contacted me and we try all alternatives to isolate and detect if this is regarding a hardware problem. Of course they told me it is. Too sad. My phone is in immaculate condition.
My mother has an Iphone, my father has an Iphone, my 2 sisters have Iphones, my brother, wife and daugther... we all have Iphones. Mine's the only one with this fault (my personal experience: fail prob is 12,5% -1 out of 8).
At this point, I'm evaluating to stop buying apple products for fear that in the future the same will happen with some "premium" product that ultimately they are not.
Too sad, sorry but this is too much.

I got my 4s in August 2012, as an upgrade on my Vodafone contract Following the installation of IOS 7 I also experienced greying out of wifi and bluetooth. I tried various options suggested on forums however none worked. I took my phone to Vodafone who told me it was a problem they were aware of but couldn't do anything about as Apple had to deal with it. I took it to my nearest Apple store (60 miles round trip!) to be told it was not their responsibility, it was Vodafone's - something to do with consumer law! They also said I would have to pay £160 for a replacement phone as it couldn't be repaired. The 'Genius' was very cagey about it being a common problem by the way!! Back to Vodafone who said it was not their responsibility so back to Apple. This time I spoke with a Manager who told me in not so many words that it was an issue and agreed to halve the replacement cost of £160 to £80. By this time I just wanted it sorted to reluctantly paid £80 for a replacment phone. Seeing as this is CLEARLY a design fault, Apple should have replaced it free of charge. This experience just confirms what I am reading in lots of places about the Apple Company. I was going to buy an iPad but have decided not to now. I shall NOT be replacing the iphone when my contract is up. I too will be writing to BBC Watchdog.

I am booked in for the same problem on Thursday.  Looks like I won't have much luck.
You will probably be told that the solution is a replacement phone. Ask to speak to a Manager and insist on getting it at a lower price. I did this and got it at 50% of the usual repacement cost. Still not ideal but at least it saves you a bit of the money you shouldn't have to pay in the first place!

I depend alot on my Iphone and this Wifi greyed out issue is really getting to me!! This caused me to lose some business, but I'm sure I will make up for that in Andriod World. Switching back to andriod should have never switched to apple in the first place.

4s owner in the same boat as everyone else.
I setup a service call with apple on Monday this week and was told it's quite a common hardware failure. When I asked why I should be paying for a new phone I was advised to book an appointment in store. Well I've just returned from my appointment with a "genius" who told me that when the update is installing if any component is weak when installing it will be permanently disabled.  Was then told £150 for a new phone which I declined.
I've had  iPhones for 4 years now but due to this issue and apple washing their hands of any responsibility it will be my last.
Disappointed that a premium product has such poor backup from the manufacturer. If it was only my phone and not thousands of others I'd have probably paid for a new phone but I'll never give apple another penny again.

Same problem with my partners iPhone 4s. Restored the device but still no luck. Going to book an appointment but it sounds like we wont have much luck as it is just over a year old.
Nexus 5 time I think for both of us.

  • Bank Charge for Outgoing payment. Any workaround

    Hi,
Has anyone develop solution for the Bank Charges in Outgoing payment ?
Under Incoming Payment, there is a bank charge field which is will post together with the amount received from customer.
We would like to have the same function in Outgoing Payment and automatically post in Journals. How can SDK help ?

    Hi ,
Try this work around for bank charges involved while making payments.
    Example
    Amount due to supplier-10000
    Bank charges - 100
    Total payment - 10100
1)Go to outgoing payment screen/type the vendor and select the invoice of 10000.
2)Go to payment means and against bank column enter 10100
3)In payment means in row two type bank charges for 100
The system will throw an error saying bank charges is not cash account.still u can post the entry.
    The accounting entry will be
    Supplier a/c Debit - 10000
    To bank a/c Credit -10100
    To Bank charges a/c credit - (100)
(instead of debiting bank charge expenses it is crediting the charges in negative figure / impact is same)

  • Bank charges for DD

    Dear All,
My client would like to send DD (Demand draft) to vendor and bank charges are bing made by my client. So, to be able to achieve in SAP Configuration where i have to configure (In FBZP) or where else.
they are using APP (F110) how the bank chareges are picked up from APP.
    Poings will be assigned.
    With best regards
    Venkat.

    Hi,
setup for debiting bank charges while carrying out F110 payment runs, Instead, I'd used the fields in the House Bank (txn FI12 under Data medium exchange section for Charges account).
Here you specify the Bank no. and the account no. at that bank, which will tell your Bank from which account to debit the charges. What is noteworthy here is that F110 was not used to debit charges, rather instructions were sent to the Bank (via DME) to debit charges (based upon pre-defined and agreed upon rates & categories, etc.).
To complete the setup, there's another field we were using - Control Key in the same section just below the Charges Bank no. and account no. This field has specific usage in some countries (check F1 help on this field), and for all other countries, you can use the field for any account-specific information. We used this to send an indicator to our Bank specifying on what terms to debit charges - like, sending party pays charges, receiving party pays charges, or charges are borne equally by both sending and receiving party.
Sending party - Payer of Funds
Receiving party - Beneficiary of Funds
For your original approach, I hope you've done the settings in txn OBXK - Maintain FI config. - automatic postings for bank charges. The system posts the charges amount you specify for a bank item when settling payment to these accounts. The bank charges accounts must be defined as relevant to cash flow.
    Regards,
    Viswa
