Why did my Firefox window minimise to half size, with the bottom half of the screen showing the window underneath the Firefox one?

Today the bottom half of my Firefox browser window just drew up to the halfway point on my screen, and will not maximise again. I tried taking Windows back to a point 2 days ago, but the problem remains.

Not sure what happened, but the problem disappeared by itself.

  • Why did 350 songs in my wish list disappear with the installation of Yosemite?

I always keep a large, ongoing list of songs I want to buy in my wish list, so it obviously takes a lot of time to search for music. Just like that with the installation of Yosemite, 350 of them went "POOF!". That doesn't exactly inspire confidence from a customer. I sure hope someone can shed some light on this problem and maybe how to restore the entire wish list. There must be a solution. At this moment, only 32 songs are visible in my wish list. The rest are missing in action.
    APPLE, OR SOMEONE, PLEASE HELP!!!

FYI, this afternoon I updated to iTunes 12 on my MacBook Pro, an update that was available before Yosemite became available, and the wish list after the update was "32" songs. Luckily I made a copy of my entire wish list from the Pro before the update.
After that I went ahead and installed Yosemite on the Pro and, sure enough, the wish list in iTunes was still missing.
For my money, this is an iTunes 12 issue. I don't think it has anything to do with Yosemite. I just hope someone at Apple is paying attention and will fix this problem soon.

From your point of view and the framing of your question, Apple does indeed support WIndows better than Mac for the limited issue of iCloud.

...YET, Leopard and Snow Leopard are NOT iCloud compatible. How can that be justified? Obviously, Apple can make iCloud available to Snow Leopard, but disdains us...
Historically speaking, Apple has rarely gone backwards in its OS development.  Once they have released a new OS with new technology, I can only think of one example of when they backtracked:  They released TrueType technology in System 7 and then released System 6.0.8, which included TrueType technology for continuing System 6 users.
So it is part of their culture to move forward and not backwards.  Other examples:
    •  Inclusion of the then novel SONY 3.5" disk drive in its release of the first Macintosh (and not the industry standard 5.25" drive); after its use in the Lisa and adoption for the Apple II series of computers.
    •  Elimination of the floppy drive completely in the release of the first iMac.
    •  Use of then novel AAC audio compression as "state of the art" compression for the iPod release in 2001 instead of the outdated mp3 standard.
    •  Refusal to allow use of FLASH in iPod Touch/iPhone/iPads.
How could they justify these decisions?  The marketplace justified them for Apple!
So, yes, they could release 10.6.9 with iCloud support.  But why now, if not then?

  • Why did Apple raise its prices overnight by $200 on the iMac, including refurbished models.

Other than greed and trying to narrow the spread between the price of the old iMacs and the just-announced new iMac, why did Apple raise its prices overnight by $200 on the iMac, including refurbished models? Their existing product component costs didn't increase overnight.

  • I made a mistake & loaded the version of Firefox (4) that my computer cannot support. Now I am unable to use it. How can I replace it with the latest one I had previously (3.6.20)?

It's my own fault. I was warned that my old iMac (running only on Tiger) was not capable of receiving Firefox 4. But I did an experiment and tried loading it anyway.
Now, a disabled version of Firefox, that I cannot open, is the only version of Firefox on my computer. I'm sure it made everything I was using on Firefox disappear!
Is there some way to replace this disabled version with the latest one I CAN support?

Downgrading from Firefox 4 to Firefox 3.6.20
    1. Visit ftp://ftp.mozilla.org/pub/mozilla.org/firefox/releases/3.6.20/mac/
    2. Find your language and Open Firefox 3.6.20 folder
    3. Download and install Firefox setup file (3.6.20 dmg)
You’ll be automatically downgraded to Firefox 3.6.20 and your favorite add-ons, bookmarks and settings will remain untouched.
    thank you

iTunes store advertised Magical Mystery Tour ringtones if I bought the album, so I did.  No ringtones are now available or with the album.  Is this false advertising?

Been having the same problems all week. And am got a generic, not-at-all-helpful response from my initial inquiry with support, then absolutely no response to my follow-up requests. There seem to be a fair number of people posting this problem, so not sure why we're being ignored.
Was able to eventually download the episodes manually via the 'purchased' link, but it's about 10 more steps than normal.
Also noticed that itunes isn't recognizing my purchases at all, not just season passes. If I go to a page of a show where I buy episodes individually, it doesn't show which episodes I have previously bought like it used to.

  • Why did my saved passwords disappear, and now even with private browsing off I cannot get Firefox to save the passwords over again. Care to help on this????

The most recent version of Firefox just loaded onto my computer and all of my previously saved passwords are gone. To top it off I went in to the Privacy settings and turned off private browsing in order to start saving my passwords again, and it will not save, it doesn't even give me the pop up to ask if I want to save it. Care to help here? I'm way beyond angry right now, some of those passwords were rather unique and I will have a hard time recalling them exactly so not looking forward to having to reset them...

You can force Firefox to reimport the passwords from the signons.sqlite file.
    * reset the <b>signon.importedFromSqlite</b> pref on the <b>about:config</b> page to the default value via the right-click context menu
    * delete the <b>logins.json</b> file in the Firefox profile folder with Firefox closed
When you restart Firefox then you should have the signon.importedFromSqlite pref with the value set to true and you should have the passwords imported in the Password Manager unless there may have been errors.
You can use this button to go to the currently used Firefox profile folder:
*Help > Troubleshooting Information > Profile Directory: Show Folder (Linux: Open Directory; Mac: Show in Finder)
You can open the <b>about:config</b> page via the location/address bar.
You can accept the warning and click "I'll be careful" to continue.

  • Why did my firefox icons disappear?

When I upgraded from Ubuntu 9.4 to 9.10, the desktop icon changed to the image of a page, and the panel icon became a red circle with a slash on a black background. How do I get the proper icon back?

I assume that you are on Linux as well?
Did you right-click that desktop icon and open the Properties?
There you should see the location of the program file in the command field.<br />
You can click the icon and browse to that folder and then open the icons folder.

  • Why did they break data tethering in 4.5 on the 8830 WE?

    Hi All,
Just wondering - why did the BB gods decide that tethering needed to be broken in v 4.5 of the device software?   Was it far too convenient to have a 2-3 year old phone that worked, and give us the free OS update?
I've tried every version of 4.5 - tethering is broken on all of them.  Error "Remote Computer not responding".  Looking at it on a port monitor - the device sends back a "NO CARRIER" right after it dials #777 ("ATDT#777").  The same phone and same PC works swimmingly when used the phone in 4.2.2.
So what's the deal?  I can't imagine how it could be a carrier issue.

Sorry dude, I know for a fact it works. RIM (or no one else) has removed tethering from OS 4.5 for ANY devices, including the 8830.
The fact that you don't have it working, and your carrier is less than stellar at customer service and quite frankly is lying to you, doesn't mean it is 'broken'.
If it were 'broken', you would hear a loud cry across the land. The 8830 is still one of the premier corporate devices on the market (being replaced by the Tour now). If users on OS 4.5 couldn't tether, more than just you and MTS would know about it.

  • Why is my IBM Scroll button no longer working with the new Firefox?

I just downloaded the new Firefox onto my IBM ThinkPad. This laptop has a center button for the mouse that I have been able to use to scroll down webpages on the previous version of Firefox installed on my computer. However, with the new version it no longer works. Is it because there is a setting that was automatically programed and is something I can change or is the permanent feature of the new Firefox. If it is the latter, then I am disappointed and would rather use the older Firefox version.

Re-installing Pages through Appstore has fixed the problem.
    Thank you

  • Explanation sought: why do alternate photos appear with top/bottom border in full screen view?

I've moved over to Photos - no especial problems to report.
But I'd be very glad if anyone can explain why, in full screen view, some photos appear as smaller than others. That is, some photos appear with larger black borders to the sides and about half a centimetre of black border top and bottom. Normally photos go to the edge of screen top and bottom - which is as you'd hope, so you can see the maximum amount of detail.
It happens with portrait and landscape format. So far as I can work out, the pattern is that one photo will display in full screen, then the next one not, flip-flopping back and forth. Apart from wasting screen space, this makes it harder to (e.g) HDR and normal versions of the same shot. Is anyone experiencing the same, or got any ideas what could be going on, or even better, how to stop this?
For clarity: I am looking at photos taken in the past few days on an iPhone 5s.

Indeed, you yourself were one of the commenters on that thread.
Present status At the present time, no fix or workaround is known for border-related issues in Photos.

  • When upgrading Firefox I get the message, "An older item named "Firefox" already exists in this location. Do you want to replace it with the newer one you're moving?". Choosing YES results in "Operation can't be completed because item "Firefox" in use."

    Using Mac Snow Leopard 10.6.7
    Current Firefox: 3.6.18

Thanks for any help you can give.

If you have problems with updating or with the permissions then easiest is to download the full version and trash the currently installed version to do a clean install of the new version.
Download a new copy of the Firefox program and save the DMG file to the desktop
    * Firefox 5.0.x: http://www.mozilla.com/en-US/firefox/all.html
    * Trash the current Firefox application to do a clean (re-)install
    * Install the new version that you have downloaded

  • Why is InDesign is using fake small caps instead of the real ones included in the font?

I was trying to use the small caps in Hoefler Text, which I did by hitting the small caps button. Instead of using real small caps (which should be in proportion to the capitals), InDesign created fake small caps by scaling down the capitals (which is disgustingly ugly). I know Hoefler Text includes real small caps because I can see them in the glyphs palette. How do I get InDesign to use the real small caps instead of creating the fake ones?

Just checked the font file. "Hoefler Text" comes courtesy of Mac OS X, pre-installed with your system. It's an OpenType font with TrueType outlines (actually a collection of four styles into one single file), and its typographic features, including the Small Caps charrington42 noticed in the Glyphs panel, are guided not by OpenType features but by Apple's AAT features.
InDesign cannot use AAT features; only Apple's own software can. TextEdit, for example, can access the real small capitals:
You could submit "Please support AAT" to Adobe using the Feature Request form -- I don't see anything against it. Or perhaps just the fact that it's only applicable to a small amount of fonts, and on Mac OS X only.
