Why do I have a green line on edge of screen

New MacAir my pride and joy. I have only had it a few months from new and hardly used it. Now it has a green line running down the edge of the screen.
Is this a software problem or hardware problem?

That's a hardware issue, probably with your display. Unfortunately, the only thing you can do is to take your computer to an Apple Store or reseller to have it repaired. If the computer is in warranty, the repair will be free of charge

Photo Booth Effects have vertical green lines

Can anybody explain why some of my photo booth effects have vertical green lines running through them and how it can be corrected/removed?!

IPhone 5 App Store keyboard glitch -- persistent green lines at bottom of screen

I just brought home my new black 32GB iPhone 5 from the Verizon store. After using it for an hour or so, and switching over to WiFi, I entered my Apple ID password in the App Store to (re)download an app. My password requires me to switch to the ".?123" keyboard. The bottom ~1/5 of my screen became fuzzy, as though the keyboard overlay was sticking around longer than it should have. After a short time, glitch resolved to a state that's been "permanent" - vertical green lines. These green lines fade in slowly after I wake the screen from sleep. They've persisted through multiple power off > on cycles, a hard reset, and even through the upgrade to iOS 6.02. Interestingly, screen captures do not seem to grab these green lines.
Any ideas on how I can fix this, or am I going to have to get the phone replaced?

I think this is normaly. I've had some issues (gone through 6 replacements - not trivial issues, dead home button, dead camera, dead wifi that kind of thing). I noticed this on the 3rd replacement and everyone since. People are claiming that they have received "flawless screens" (whatever that means). I think the Sharp pannels are the ones that don't show these interlacing lines and AU Optronic pannels do. I have experience with AU Optronic pannels and everyone that I have ever owned (Motorola Xoom, PC Monitors, etc...) have done this. It is too bad that Apple settled for this manufacturer, but it is a gamble whether you will get one that doesn't do it. It is normal and within specs as most the iPhones at this point with have AU pannels due to Sharp's shortage.
The geniuses will likely not replace an iPhone for this reason. If you have AppleCare+ and have an incident in the future, perhaps you'll get lucky and get a sharp pannel put on to replace the AU pannel. But, there is no way to know which phones have which pannels.
Interestingly, I checked at the Apple store and 50% of the display models did it, and the genius that I spoke to's iphone 5 did it. You can find wall paper that is alternating black and white lines one pixel in width and it will cause the screen to flicker. Like you, I REALLY wish that apple DID NOT choose AU Optronics and if I had known I would have waited to purchase, but now I have it and cannot return it. I may sell it and move back to my previous phone. Given that the #1 selling feature is the retina display, it is disappointing to see a low quality pannel used. I really like the iPhone, but this is pretty much a deal breaker - and not knowing if you will get one that does it, or doesn't makes it very hard to "trust" a future production. I would rather have waited for the Sharp pannels and delayed getting an iPhone due to supply issues, than Apple finding an alternative, lower quality, source to produce them.

Why do I have to pay line rental when I have FTTP?

I don't understand why am I paying for a phone line when I have FTTP (Fibre to the premisies)? that's over £160 a year and I don't even use the copper wiring, and I certainly don't need or want a phone line.

I've come to this thread a bit late but felt that I had to comment. The OP has a perfectly valid point. If he has FTTP, BT should not be forcing him to take an expensive, cash cow phone line. It's robbery IMO.
Virgin Media do not force you to take a phone line with their broadband. A lot of rubbish has been written in this thread about Virgin Media and the bundles have nothing to do with the OP's question.
My credentials on this are a Virgin Media VIP Bundle user and a BT Infinity/2 user.
The OP should raise this at a higher level in BT, IMO.

If John46 has been briefed by BT to provide this answer, then IU'm astonished. The FTTP exchange equipment has nothing to do with the telephone exchange equipment and the FTTP user should not be expected to subsidise the telephone user by being forced to have a BT phone line.

Any thing i click on in that line will not come up.The line runs across where the compose mail is.

Recently both the Yahoo! Toolbar extension and the Babylon extension have been reported to cause an issue like that. Disable or uninstall those add-ons.

Why do I have white horizontal lines on my Macbook Pro Retina?

When I am using my 15" Macbook Pro, there are often white horizontal lines that run across the screen. It usually happens when I am watching a video, typing, scrolling or just sitting on the desktop. There are days where the screen is perfect and there are no problems; there are also days where it happens so frequently that some videos becomes unwatchable due to the distracting lines flickering and flashing on the screen. They don't stay all the time but I'd love to know what the problem actually is. Thank you for reading, and please help me out.

Rented movies have floating green square spots all over screen

We have a new Sony KDL-52W4100 connected to our v1 Apple TV via HDMI at 1080p. Cable images std and HD look great, DVD and Blueray look great, all functions of Apple TV (photos, intro, menus) look great. Rented TV shows and movies have large floating green squares all over screen. Has anyone else experienced this?

This sounds like the file is either corrupt or there is an issue with output from the tv. Firstly, I wasn't aware that tv v 1 software supported 1080p, I suspect you are either running v 2 software or you don't have 1080p as an output resolution.
I doubt all your rented movies have become corrupt so I'd be looking at your HDMI connection as the source of your problem, have you tried another cable, is it seated properly. You should also be aware that 1080p requirers a category 2 HDMI cable (although in many cases category 1 does suffice)

Try rebooting your iPad. Press and hold BOTH the power and home buttons at the SAME for about 10 seconds (ignore the red slider to shut down) until the Apple Logo appears, then let go of both buttons and your iPad will restart. You will not lose any data or settings. If after you've done this, there is no improvement, it would be advisable to make an appointment at your Apple Store Genius Bar and let them see it. If found defective, your iPad will replaced on the spot.

Why do I have boxes round items on my iMac screen?

Just yesterday I found there are boxes (like the borders of text boxes) round items on my screen. If I'm offline I get a box round a desktop item; if I'm online I get a box round a section of a web page - so the Search box in Google will have a black-lined box added to it and when I search the box will go round something else on the page? There's actually a box round the pane where I'm typing this now.
Anyone any ideas? A different, or perhaps connected problem is that many of the items in drop down menus are now duplicated, so in Safari, on File I get 'Close Window' 'Close Window' - but not every menu item is duplicated

Thank you to Niel. I'd just found a similar post/question where someone was directed to the Universal Access setting and having done it, the boxes have gone and so have the duplicated menu items

My ipod 5th generation screen cracked a few months ago or so. Today I went on it and the screen was half black and had red, blue and green lines on it the screen does not work and ive tried to reset it but its still the same what is it? how can i fix it?

Apple will exchange your iPod for a refurbished one for (USA) $99 for 16 GB 5G and $149 for the other 5Gs. They do not fix yours.

When I turn on my Mac, I get a blinking file folder with a question mark on it. What can I do?

The iMac can't find any bootable partition. First, insert the OS X DVD, press C key while your Mac is starting, go to  > Startup Disk and select Macintosh HD.
If it doesn't work, go to Utilities > Disk Utility, select Macintosh HD in the sidebar and repair the disk. If nothing helps, take the Mac to an Apple Store

My iPod has four green lines in the middle screen and a loading circle and will not let me do anything, it happened after I tried to quit from itunes.
