Why do songs deleted from my iPhone try to resync when I plug it in?

I am using iTunes match and I ran into a problem... When I deleted a song directly off the iPhone (Not iTunes), it tries to add itself back the next time I plug the iPhone in (See attatched picture). Even if I already have that song it tries to re-add itself, which is kind of annoying. Some of these songs I don't even "own" or have in my library, which is wierd. Also, it tries to add a "Purchased" playlist with those songs which is annoying because I don't want those songs, and I never bought them because they came with iTunes match, which is why I deleted them in the first place.
Is there a fix for this?
Thanks,
Michael Richards

Sounds like the music you had on your phone was not the same music on his computer. The iPhone/iPod touch is not designed to be a storage device. When you sync with a computer that doesn't have your music, it deletes your music from your phone.
Was this music you purchased from iTunes? if so, and you are in the US, tap on itunes app, tap updates, tap purchased and tap on the cloud icon to get each song back. If you're not int he us, get iOS5 update later this week and do the same.
But you need to move your itunes library to his computer. Create a user account on his macbook pro for you. From your external drive backup, load your itunes library on it. Then sync as usual! (Don't tell me you don't have a backup for your computer!)

Since the release of Mavericks (OS X 10.9) syncing contacts and calendars with a Mac via iTunes is no longer supported. The currently supported method is via iCloud. Setup instructions: http://www.apple.com/icloud/setup/

  • I want every song deleted from my iPhone and it simply cannot be done

I have tried every method I can think of.  I went to Settings, Usage, and deleted all music from there.  But 440 songs remained somehow.  I turned off iTunes match.  I turned it back on and had it show only songs on the device.  I swipe an artist or album, press the delete button, but it does not disappear.  I am stuck with 440 songs on my phone that I cannot ever get rid of short of an entire restore.

Well, I'm not sure I ever solved my original problem, but I'm back to square one now.  At one point, with iTunes Match turned off, I was able to delete music off my iPhone to the point where the player showed no music.  But even then, Settings/About showed 47 songs and when I plugged it into iTunes, it appeared as if there were still 400+ songs on the phone and there was still some orange on the bar in the bottom of iTunes (or whatever color music is) indicating that it thought there was still a few MBs of music on there.
But, after several resets (not restores) and many times toggling off/on iMatch, all my music AND playlists now show up on my phone.  I can live with that.
Unfortunately, the very original problem that I never mentioned here - the reason I wanted to wipe all the music off and start over - was not solved.  I have one album identified so far where all the songs get cut off 30 seconds early.  And that is still happening even after my big delete and re-load fiasco.  But that is a discussion for a different thread.
    Thanks for the input all!

  • My macbookpro died and I have been using my boyfriends macbook (the itunes is an earlier incarnation of my itunes) and have been using his pro to charge, all the music has disappeared from my iphone but shows up when i plug it in to charge on his macbook,

My macpro got wet and I have been using my boyfriends macpro to charge my iphone over the weekend, his itunes is an early version of my itunes library. I have no music showing in my ipod on my iphone. When I plug it in to the macpro it shows my music, and an up to date show of all my playlists new music etc when I click on my iphone icon, how do I get it back? Can I back up and sync from his library? Can I just back up my phone on his library and restore from that, will I get an exact copy, new stuff and all back??
    Any help appreciated

  • How do I delete songs directly from my iPhone 5s?

How can I delete specific songs directly from my iPhone 5s? I do not have a personal computer to download the iTunes app. I need to make room for the new iOS 8.0 update.

You can delete individual tracks by swiping/dragging across them from right-to-left on the song selection screen in the Music app. But check that the single/album is still available in your country's store, if the rights-holder has removed it then you won't be able to redownload it (and similarly if you delete any apps, films etc, they could also have been removed from the store)

  • HT1689 how do i delete songs from my iTunes and have them also delete from my iPhone using iCloud

When i delete songs from my iTunes list the songs remain on my iPhone even though i have i Cloud

From your last post, it sounds as if you're hoping to stream music to your iPhone (and your computer) from iCloud, so when you delete songs from iCloud, they will also be deleted from your iPhone.
iTunes Match sort of does that, but not quite, as the songs you have played on an iOS device get stored there.
Here's a snippet from the iTunes Match writeup located at:
    http://www.apple.com/itunes/itunes-match/
Does iTunes Match stream or download songs?
On a computer, any songs stored in iCloud will stream over the air when played, though you can download them at any time by clicking the iCloud download button. iOS devices will start playing tracks from iCloud as they download and will store them so that you can listen to them later even if you don’t have a network connection. Apple TV only streams songs.

  • Why are my podcasts being deleted from my iPhone every time I sync them?

why are my podcasts being deleted from my iPhone every time I sync them?

I also have this problem though it only seems to affect my iPod Nano (6th gen).  It does not seem to affect my iPhone (though now as I type this, I better confirm that as I haven't manually managed podcasts on my iPhone since the last iTunes updates).  I have iTunes set to "manually manage music and videos" (just like OP, I'd rather manage music and videos myself rather than construct playlists and have iTunes sync them), and under the "Podcasts" tab on my nano, I do not have "Sync Podcasts" checked.
Is this something that has occurred since the last iTunes update?

  • Why are random calendar events being deleted from my iphone when I sync it with ical?

My settings are such that events entered on both devices should push to both devices when I sync. The events being deleted from my iphone are not consistent (ie. older than a certain date), they are random.

This happens to me INCESSANTLY.  I'm looking at my calendar events one second, and POOF!, the next second all of the events I've entered into the calendar- with the exception of birthdays that are on the actual contact information for a person- are GONE.  My calendar settings are set to sync all events- no timeframe- and always have been.  This happened to me nonstop on my old iPhone 3GS, and I was sure it was the phone causing this issue.  Now, I have my new iPhone 5 in my hands and same ol'   , different equipment.  I have done EVERYTHING I can think of to prevent this from happening or to restore the data- including rebooting, holding home button and on/off at same time, etc.- and NOTHING works to restore the data.  And then, just as magically as the data disappeared, POOF!- the data is back randomly sometime later.  That "later" may be 5 mins, a day, several days.  This is an absurd and EXASPERATING glitch that APPLE NEEDS TO FIX IMMEDIATELY!!!  I'm starting to hate the iPhone and Apple in general when I continuously experience HUGE glitches like this that have a profound impact on what you're trying to accomplish within a feature that you DEPEND on... yet Apple has "never heard of that problem before".  You suck, Apple.  Don't send your problems out into the real world, to users who just gave you $800 for another glitchy piece of equipment that never solves your software issues.

  • HT4865 If a contact is intentionally deleted from an iphone, why/how would it reappear later on back into the contacts?

If a contact is intentionally deleted from an iphone, how could/would it reappear later on?

On a Mac, PhoneView is one option (I've been happily using for a year or two). TouchCopy is another (have not heard anything negative about it).
You'll only get back the low-res versions that were downsized when synced to the phone, but better than nothing.

  • Why can I print from my iPhone and not my iPad? I have been able to do it in the past and have tried a hard reset but it can no longer find the printer.

Why can I print from my iPhone and not my iPad? I have been able to do it in the past. I have tried a hard reset but it still cannot find the printer.

In addition to rebooting the router and the iPad, I would reset the printer as well. Unplug the printer from power and do the same with the router. Leave the router unplugged for about 30 seconds. Plug the router in first and let it totally start up, plug the printer in again, and then reboot/reset the iPad.
Reboot the iPad by holding down on the sleep and home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider if it appears on the screen - let go of the buttons. Let the iPad start up.
If that doesn't work, you can try resetting all settings. Settings>General>Reset>Reset All Settings. You will have to enter all of your device settings again.... All of the settings in the settings app will have to be re-entered. Your WiFi passwords, location services, device preferences all have to be re-entered. You will not lose any data or media whatsoever.

  • I have a movie site app banner ad that I cannot delete from my IPhone 5 Safari page.  I appears every time I open Safari.  Any suggestions.

I have a movie site banner ad that I cannot delete from my IPhone 5 Safari page.  It appears every time I open Safari.  How can I delete it?

You do not have a virus.  Sounds like you are just being bitten by Safari's desire to reopen all windows - and reconnect to all sites that were open in those windows - in Mac OS X 10.7.  I believe that if you hold down option (or is it shift?) while opening Safari that it will not try to reload those pages.
Regarding malware, see my Mac Malware Guide:
