Why does Azure backup report CATALOG FAILURE 0x80131500 E:\ServerFolders\Company\... ?

I see a number of failures like this on our Azure backups in the failed file list. Not frequent, maybe twice a week at most for any one site, and only up to one or two sites on any one day.
Searching has found little by way of explanation, though enough occurrences going back to 2013 to realise I am not the first to see this.

Azure Backup CATALOG FAILURE 0x80131500 on Windows 8.1 Pro

I recently installed the new Azure Backup client on a Windows 8.1 Pro computer to test the service. Every backup that is run is resulting in hundreds of skipped files showing the same error:
CATALOG FAILURE 0x80131500
A random check of some of the files with this error revealed that some are backed up and available for restore whereas others do not appear to be available for restore. Further testing showed that the files that are available for restore can be restored.

The error "CATALOG FAILURE 0x80131500" was mentioned a lot in these several days.
Personally I tested to perform a backup on a Windows 2012 R2 system with Agent version 2.0.8692.0 and it finished successfully. But we still reported this issue to product team and they are working on it now. If there is any update I will post back quickly.

Why does iPhone backup require access to the Internet?

While syncing my iPhone, iTunes first performed a backup. My firewall reported that the backup phase of the sync required access to the Internet. Why would the backup require access to the internet unless it was sending some information?
This makes me a bit worried that some of my personal data is being sent to Apple without my permission.

Whenever your phone is synced and iTunes recognizes there are new crash reports, a program called MDCrashReportTool sends these reports to Apple. Apple then funnels the reports to the correct app developer's iTunes Connect account. No personal information is transmitted.
If this bothers you(it shouldn't), you can turn off the sending of the crash reports:
Right-click on the phone in iTunes, and click "Reset Warnings." The next time you sync, itunes will ask if you want to send the reports. Un-check the "Do not ask me again" option, hit "Don't Send," and you're good to go.

Why does SYNC take so long now? And why does it BACKUP every time i sync?

Sync takes SO darn long now and when I sync, it does a BACKUP that is causing the sync process to take SO SO SO LONG!
Whats the deal? anyway to turn OFF the BACKUP option?

I have half a dozen screens full of apps - some of which will definitely have to go as some sync operations - especially if there are apps being updated for me takes hours. Yesterday it got stuck during an app update over the wifi - and I had to do a restore - the restore took some time - which included restore from a backup from only a few days ago - the following sync has been running for a couple hours now and appears to be only 75% or so complete. rather annoying.

The reports you see listed are nothing to do with the server really. They are templates made up of an XML file and some .rpt files in the templates subdir of the HRC installation directory.
If you don't see them, it sounds to me like the xml files have been deleted or corrupted. The easy way to fix would be to reinstall HRC.

Why does the process Report Crash stay active and take up over 100% of the CPU?

In addition to window-server taking an inordinate amount of CPU, I am seeing that the process "Report Crash" is sucking up 102% of the CPU and occasionally goes down to 90%. ***? What IS Apple doing these days? Their products are getting worse and worse!

Select that process and kill it in Activity Monitor, see if it comes back.

Why does FEBE backup popup window pop up every time I open the Firefox browser, even after I just backed up FEBE????

Since I installed 7.0.1, it has been nothing but trouble. It locks up frequently. Menu and add-on toolbar does not always load. FEBE does not recognize any previous backup, and wants to backup every time Firefox is opened, every time, even if I open multiple windows. The only way I could stop the FEBE popup was to schedule it to backup on browser shutdown or start up. Any scheduled option, including NO SCHEDULED BACKUP makes no difference. As soon as I open the browser the FEBE backup popup, pops up. I want a previous version back.

You can delete the files extensions.* (extensions.rdf, extensions.cache, extensions.ini, extensions.sqlite) and compatibility.ini in the Firefox [[Profiles|profile folder]] to reset the extensions registry. New files will be created when required.

If you see disabled extensions that are not compatible on the next start in "Tools > Add-ons > Extensions" then click the "Find Updates" button to do a compatibility check.
You may also need to "Reset all user preferences to Firefox defaults" on the [[Safe mode]] start window.

What does error 261 mean and why does iTunes backup fail in version 7.3?

I made a backup of my purchased music (all single items) in the previous version of iTunes for Windows. Now with version 7.3 for Windows I keep getting error 261:
After inserting a blank CDRW, CDR, or DVD+RW (all previously without any problems in older iTunes versions) and selecting File -> Back Up to Disc, iTunes says: "Checking items for backup..." after which it shortly says: "Burning Disc... Initializing"
To abrubtly end with: The attempt to burn a disc failed. An unknown error occurred (261).
I used various burning options, including AUDIO and DATA CD, to no avail. The differences with my previous backup are:
- more tracks;
- complete albums;
- DRM free items (upgraded);
- audiobooks.
Although my main iPod contains the complete library (luckily it is small), I can use it for backup purposes, but after re-installing Windows and iTunes, my iPod would not be recognised and my data would be lost.

You are not doing anything wrong. This and many other errors have cropped up since version 7.3 was released.
For now, the solution is to go back to version 7.2 where everything worked correctly.

Why does my exported report go into dreamweaver?

I am working with an accounting program called Publish to Profit and when I export my report it exports it into dreamweaver instead of excel, why?

Sue, if your accounting program is not actually exporting a file that you can see in the Finder, with a name and a filename extension, then there's no opportunity for you to select any options in Excel before the data appears in it, and the only way you can govern what is sent to Excel is to use whatever settings and options are offered in your accounting software. If "tab-delimited text" is an export option, choose that, and see what happens when the data appears in Excel.

Why does the BLOCK REPORTED WEB FORGERIES become disabled when I close Firefox?

I will enable the BLOCK REPORTED WEB FORGERIES in the control panel, however if close and then open Firefox it will be disabled.

At the moment I use Norton 360. I have Norton on other machines and it does not turn off the Block Attack Sites nor Block Reported Web Forgeries. My first thought is that I have been breached and Malicious Code is the culprit.

Why does the "Dispose Report.vi" doesn't release memory used by report

I have prepared report that includes a few tables After finishing printing, the amount of memory used by my application is bigger. Next printing of the raport lead to crash the LabView because of lack of memory.
It also cause mu application to work slowly.
The amount of used memory is checked by the Task Manager. My operating system is Windows NT 4.

This issue has been reported to R&D, and they are currently going through the VIs and the dll to track down all the memory leaks.
You can go through the VIs and edit them so that every open reference has a reference close. This will not fix all of the leaks but might be enough to get your program working.

Why does "export as a catalog" crash when following directions?

These are my steps: I select a set of folders, then all the photos, then "export as a catalog", choosing to export "smart Previews", and not "export negative files". The process starts off fine with a flash window saying so, followed by the upper left progress bars tooting along. Unfortunately, after a while the screen says Lightroom has crashed. I restart Lightroom and then immediately close Lightroom with an integrity check and catalog optimization each time and get no warnings about problems. Have followed the procedure four times, with identical results, twice after a complete reboot. In short, "export as a catalog' fails catastrophically, not politely.
My computer setup: LR 5.7, Windows 8.1 x64, 32GB of memory, latest Intel chip, OS on SSD, saving (trying to export to) to large, on same SATA controller, mechanical drive. Hoping to eventually save to USB 3 drive. Windows Resource Monitor shows "free" memory at all points in the process. Have second SSD for camera Raw cache fwiw.
Lightroom status: LR catalog has ~110,000 photos. Successfully created "Smart Previews" for all photos before trying the Export as a Catalog process. About 20% of the 110,000 photos are from Nikon D800 and are RAW/DNG, thus large. The size of the "negative files" is about 1.8TB. The size of the Smart previews catalog is 109GB.
Other, probably related problems: When I select (control A) the 110,000 photos, LR becomes very sluggish. Click selecting the menu has erratic and delayed selection. Eventually, I am able to select the menu items and initiate the "export as a catalog." Otherwise, everything operates "normally."
My concern is that it appears that Lightroom cannot handle 110,000 photos, but I am hoping that some other explanation might exist.

The basis if my question is this: Adobe touted "Smart Previews" as a super new means by which one could edit/rate/keyword photos without needing the hardware associated with handleing the "negatives files".
My goal is to export my photos (smart previews) and let my wife rate and keyword the photos on her own computer. The Smart Previews version of my 1800 photos database (which is over 1800GB) is only 109GB. This can easily be handled with a USB 3 drive (and perhaps even a SSD one!).
Each time I "export to catalog" to gain this (advertised) functionality, Lightroom crashes. If you or someone else has done an "export as a catalog" of a total database, with a photo database this large, then perhaps I should suspect my setup. Or, perhaps there is some other explination?

Why does my backup drive keep burning out?

I've burned out three backup hard drives within the last year and a half The first was a Buffalo 500G, then a Toshiba 500G and then another Buffalo 500G. The first backup was had its own power supply but the other two got their power from my Mac. Time Machine settings were all normal but I did notice the drive's light seemed to be on a lot when Time Machine was not backing up. The power to my Mac and the drives is stable and relatively consistent.
Has anyone else had this problem and is there a solution for it? Losing three drives in less than 18 months makes me think it's a Mac software issue as opposed to poor quality drives. Thanks for any insight.

That drive is bus powered, as Klaus1 suggested ONLY use EHD's that have their own power supplies.

Why does "Open HTML Report in Broswer" crash on some machines?

I've been using the "Open HTML Report in Browser" subvi to generate simple printable reports from a control program, but the program hangs on the control system PCs. I am running Win2000 with IE on my programming box, but on the XP machines with IE and Mozilla running the LabView 7 runtimes the program will hang in the Open HTML Report subvi every time. Is there any known cause for this? Are there any alternatives?

Hello rsd212,
The behavior we you are seeing is probably due to the security policies set up on your windows XP machine. Have you installed Service Pack 2 on the machine?
One way to check if is this is security policy issue is to force the report VI to open the browser with the System Exec VI instead of using DDE. You can do this by opening the Open URL in Default Browser Core subVI inside Open HTML Report in Browser -> Open URL in Default Browser and changing the code to always run the System Exec version and skip the DDE version.
If this works you can either keep the VI as is or revert to the original version and troubleshoot what security policy is preventing DDE from working on your computer.
