Why don't my documents open from my email?

I am clicking on the attachments sent to me via email and they don't open?  I have windows 8

In your Mail app,
Press and hold or right-click with a mouse over the email attachment to bring up the context menu.
Select Save (instead of Open or Open with). 
Open the saved file in your default PDF program by tapping or double-clicking the file on the Windows 8 desktop.

    What is your operating system?  Reader version ("latest" means nothing)?
    Is this a local or only PDF?  If online, in what browser?

    When I edit an email address in the Contacts App, and the type the Contact's name in the Mail App, I get both the old and new contacts.  Why don't I get only the updated email address?

    Mail remembers previously used email addresses for a period of time. Those you no longer use will eventually disappear. After you have sent one or two emails to the new address the old address will move below the new one. Then after a period of time not sending to the old address it will disappear. Patience is the key.

  • Unable to view pdf documents opened from a website

    I'm not able to view pdf documents, e.g. bank statements or tax returns, when opened from a website. If the site offers the option to download, I can do that and have no problem opening the downloaded file and viewing in pdf. The problem is when the pdf file opens in another window, or in a window within a window - then I just get a black screen where the pdf document should be. Has anyone encountered this and fixed it? I've already followed any help I can find online, like making sure pop-up blocker is turned off, and that java, java script are enabled, and downloading most recent adobe acrobat. So far, nothing has worked.

    Check your browser(s) preferences to see if you have PDF files properly mapped.
    *For FireFox v3.0:*
    FF>Preferences>Applications
    I have Always Ask to open word/text documents.
    Preview is the app I use to view PDF documents.
    *Another suggesion:*
    Strongly recommend that you update your OS to the latest Tiger version - 10.4.11. Your system info confirms you are still using the basic OS 10.4.

  • Document numbering issue - Incorrect documents opening from Reports

    We follow repetitive document numbering with different series name.
    During a customised report generation, the details displayed in the report are correct, but when I click on the document number from the report, it opens a different document with the same doc number but a different series name.
    I understand that this is due to the repeatitive numbering used, but is there any method by which the system opens exact document as displayed in the report.

    You may try to add DocEntry to see:
    SELECT T1.SeriesName, T0.DocNum, T0.DocEntry,T0.DocDate, T0.CardCode, T0.CardName, T0.DocTotal,T0.Project, T0.DocStatus FROM dbo.ORDR T0 INNER JOIN dbo.NNM1 T1 ON T0.Series = T1.Series WHERE T0.DocStatus ='O' ORDER BY T0.DocDate
    When you click on DocEntry (Internal Key), it should work.

  • Why do all my documents open when I open Pages?

    Hello Apple!
         My problem is regarding pages. Every time I open pages, whether im choosing a document or just choosing the Icon to begin a new doc., each and every of my previous documents open as well.  I have never had this probem before with the same computer and it started not to long ago. Im writing this question because this problem is becoming quite annoying now and I would like to know what to do in order to fix it. Thank you very much! Cheers!

    There is a manual solution and an automatic one. The manual solution is to Close your documents when you are finished with them rather than leaving them open. The automatic solution is to go to System Preferences > General and check the selection "Close Windows when Quitting an Application".

  • Adobe Professional 8 signing documents opened from IE

    Basic question.  If you have Adobe Professional 8.0, do you have the ability to sign pdf documents opened in the IE browser.  I can sign the documents if I open it outside the browser but when I open the document in IE the sign button is greyed out.  Is this functionality disabled?  It works with Adobe 7 Professional but not Adobe 8 professional.  Any ideas?

    It sounds like you're only able to send iMessages using your Apple ID (email address) on your iPhone. If you're not able to send iMessages using your phone number, first try signing out of iMessage and FaceTime on your iPhone:
    Go to Settings > Messages > Send & Receive, tap your Apple ID, then tap Sign Out.
    Go to Settings > FaceTime, tap your Apple ID, then tap Sign Out.
    If you send iMessages from other devices (such as a Mac or iPad), sign out of those as well.
    Then sign back in on your iPhone:
    On your iPhone first, sign back in to iMessage and Facetime.
    Sign back in to iMessage and Facetime on your other devices (if necessary.)

    Settings > Message > Receive At > Caller ID
    Change to your phone number.

    I have iMessage set up on my iPhone 5s (fully updated) and regularly use it since most of my contacts also have imessage. I mainly use it on my iPhone, but sometimes use the messaging app on my Mac.
    I have an email linked to my iMessage, it is my apple ID. I have it set as "can be reached at" my phone number and email and "start new conversations from" ONLY my phone number.
    However, sometimes when I'm in the middle of a text conversation with someone, they will end up getting an imessage from my email and not my phone number, which confuses people and puts the conversation in two different places.
    Is this a common issue? Do I just remove the email from where I can be reached at? Does doing that disable me from using the messenger app on my mac?

    Unfortunately yes - if you have both phone number and email checked as available then sometimes the choice from where to send appears to be random.
    However you may want to disable the email as a potential contact point on the phone and leave it on in the pad and see what happens - given the cloud based nature of the system it may synchronize at some point but at least you will know .

    I am having the same problem. I have tried turning the phone on and off, signing out of my account and signing back in, nothing works. In the area where it says recive at, it lists my phone # and email but I cannot click on my phone #. Its just gray. Has anyone found a solution yet?

  • Words documents opened from portal display website instead of document

    A user is opening Word documents from a newly-created section of our portal to find that the Word document displays the website instead of the text that is supposed to be in the document. Saving the document first and then opening it works fine.
    It seems similar to this issue:
    WWC-41400 when accessing PowerPoint docs
    with the following key differences:
    1. It doesn't actually display an error. The screen that appears in the Word document looks somewhat like our login screen, but without the login text.
    2. This problem only started happening after we redid a section of our website. The new section contains the same documents, but it was rebuilt on the top level of our navigation rather than where it was before.
    3. The user only has this problem with the new section of the website--not the previous implementation of that section and not with the rest of the portal website. It only seems to be the new section we developed.
    It doesn't seem like she needs to upgrade Word, as Powerpoint was upgraded in the referenced URL above, because it's working elsewhere in the portal. Are there any issues related to us developing the new section of the website that would cause this? Thank you for any assistance.

    If Adobe documents are automatically saved instead of opened, check the Applications panel in Firefox ("Tools -> Options -> Applications") and change the action for PDF documents to either "Use Adobe Reader" if you want to use the application or "Use Adobe Acrobat (in Firefox" if you want the PDF file to open inside a Firefox browser window via the Adobe Acrobat plugin. If you want to be asked what to do with PDF files each time, select "Always Ask" for the action. See* [[Managing file types]] and [[Opening PDF files within Firefox]].
