Why have Adobe split the former UK educational license in two parts?

As a teacher I have recently tried to purchase a educational version of CS4 and discovered that Adobe has taken the former single educational license and split it into a teacher edition and a student edition. This is potentially penalising tutors as Not all educational establishments will automatically pay for tutor software. The UK student price is approximately £250 and the teacher version about £520 excluding tax. Why has this been done?

The idea itself is good, but it would not come as a shock to NI. They have heard it before. That said, a visit to the Product Suggestion Center might be helpful.
Incidentally, I don't use that option, since I prefer committing the recompiled VIs, but the help does not mention that this option is only for read-only or locked VIs. This is only implied because of the indentation the checkbox has.
I did try it now and it didn't seem to work, but that might be a bug (e.g. maybe I needed to restart LabVIEW). I suggest you try checking it to see if it works and if not, submitting a bug report to NI, as this is something which is more likely to be changed soon than the change in the file format.

These two things need to be remedied in their upgrades because It's become such a bother I've had to revert to older versions of PS.

Yea, and it's a pain to get to. What was the rational for removing the print size button? With the magnifying glass tool selected in older versions of Photoshop you would get a button that says "print size" right next to Actual pixels, Fit Screen, Fill Screen. Now I have to go out of my way and dig for it if I want to see the print size. Of all the buttons you could have taken away, why not fill screen? I never use that.
Besides the point I just downloaded the Oct Upgrade for PS and surprise! Nothing has changed and these are two big black eyes on newer versions of Photoshop. The Brush preview window is unchanged in CC but in CC2014 it's basically worthless. If you apply a texture to a brush you can't properly see the scale of the texture, the spacing, scatter, etc...

Why do I get "The form data has expired." every time with Flash formatted CFFORM moved to CF 9.1?

We are moving a ColdFusion site from CF8 to CF9.1 and have discovered that any CFForm that was uses Flash as it's format keeps giving us the "The form data has expired." error almost every time we visit the page containing the form. We have fiddled with the timeout settings and even tried to add the various "cfheader" workarounds that some people have mentioned when getting this error, but to no avail. To be clear this works perfectly on CF8 *and* it works on our CF 9.1 QA server, but for some reason fails on the Live Server. Supposedly the Live server completely matches the QA server, but the behavior is sure different in this instance.
What could be the issues? What Apache or CF settings might I look into? Could there be some weird permissions error on the generated swf form file or some other obscure reason? I am totally in the dark and can't figure out why ColdFusion keeps thinking the form data has expired.
Please, any ideas would be welcome.

Make sure the web server settings between the QA and the Production servers are also compatible.
I suspect your suspecion about permissions is the closest to the answer. But this is a little out of my depth of expertise.
Realize that ColdFusion default behavior is to NOT generate and actual swf FILE. Rather what it does is generate the swf content in memory and directly deliver it to the client. But if the web server is configured to look for an actual file system file you may have a clash going on

I'd try resetting the pse 11 preferences.
In the pse 11 editor Adobe Photoshop Elements Editor (Edit)>Preferences>General, click on Reset Preferences on Next launch
and then restart the pse 11 editor.

Don't confuse the threads here with 'typical' experience. Most of the stuff here is from brand new users, and those that have problems, and considering the 30 million pads in use, represent a very small sliver.
If you are having repeated crashes it is really pretty basic. You either have a physical problem with your pad, or you are using too much memory.
The iOS system is supposed to monitor memory, and shut down previously used apps automatically to free up memory for what you are doing now. That part of ios is not perfect, and if an app introduces an unexpected memory load, sometimes it gets over whelmed.
This happens, more often than not, when using safari with multiple windows open on graphic intense sites. It can also happen with a memory intensive game, and residual apps in the background.
Double tap the home key and take a peek at the recently used list, and shut them down completely, and often the problem goes away.
If the problem persists, you may have a software issue, and a trip to the genius bar may be in order.

To be clear, the accounting issue called GAAP for revenue recognition states that the way Adobe counts R&D and development costs are applied to a specific product version for that version's lifetime. So, all of the Photoshop CS6 perpetual license development cost are applied against the revenue produced by that specific version. Adobe is allowed to add bug fixes and maintenance updates, but no new features for the life of that version. And, yes, this sucks for several reasons not the least of which is that the engineers are forced to try to shove as much new stuff into the most recent version and any updates that can be done prior to the end of the quarter in which a version ships because after that date, new features can't be added.
Generally accepted accounting procedures pretty much force Adobe into this accounting. Yes, there are other accounting methods that would mitigate this, and the subscription license is one such option. Since the subscription revenue os an ongoing stream, Adobe can add new features as functionality to subscription users. Unfortunately, the users of a perperual license can not get those new features and functionality, only new bug fixes.
The bottom line is that sucscription users get the added advantage of getting new features and functionality while perperual license users do not. Yep...kinda sucks, but it is, what it is and it's not really Adobe's fault...the accounting regulations I believe actually came into enforcement because of the whole Enron scandle...
I realize this sort of explanation is akin to talking about sausage making...nobody really want to know how sausage is made, they just want to eat it. Same deal with Photoshop users...nobody really want to know how Adobe has to do their accounting, but the realities dictate what Adobe can and can't do...
BTW, this all has zero to do with state sales tax...although there my be state to state differences on whether a state charges tax for software. But that has zero to do with Photoshop development.

You might, depending upon what country that you are in, be able to download them via the Purchased tab in the iTunes store app on your phone, and the Purchased link under Quicklinks on the right-hand side of the iTunes store homepage on your computer's iTunes (or try the Store > Check For Available Downloads menu option on your computer's iTunes and see if that downloads them).
If you aren't in a country where music can be redownloaded, and you never downloaded those 14 tracks, then try the 'report a problem' page to contact iTunes Support : http://reportaproblem.apple.com

I want to have users submit the form in PDF format but it doesn't work using the email submit button

Hi all,
I have a form that I want to be returned to a specific email address as a PDF File. This is so that reservations people can open the pdf, and extract the information from it. Keeping it as a PDF will allow them to easily read and use the form.
When I use the "Add and Email Submit button" approach, as outlined in the "How to" area, everything works fine, except that the format of the submitted file is in xml, not Pdf which is what I need it in.
I then tried adding a Button to the document from the Library, and set it's "Control Type" to "Submit". This provided me with the submit sub-tab, where I set the "Submit Format" to PDF. In the "Submit to Url", I entered the following - "mailto:[email protected]" (without the quotes)
The first approach works, but is not in the PDF format that I need (I believe).
The second approach keeps giving the following error when one selects the submit button - "This operation is not permitted".
We use Lotus Notes (yes, I know...not my favorite either, and it may be the problem here).
Any help that might be provided is greatly appreciated!!

Thanks, but, using the "free" version of Reader, there is no opportunity to open nor import the xml data - the menu options do not exist - there is no import listed.
If we try to open the xml file directly, then we get an error - something to the effect of "unsupported file type, or the file is corrupted".
I just noticed in my Pro version that there is the command File ->Form Data ->Import Data to Form... command. Is this what you are referring to?
What do you recommend? Perhaps the easiest thing to do would be to purchase a few copies of Acrobat Pro for the reservations people to use? I was hoping that the free version of reader would do it, but perhaps not?

Why have Adobe extended my subscription without my permission?

Recently, a monthly credit card payment for our subscription to Photoshop CC was unsuccessful, but this was resolved within 2 days and payment was successfully made. After this, though, I received an email stating that our subscription had been renewed for 12 months from the date of this payment, which was NOT something we were aware would happen and I consider it to be a tad unreasonable.
Is this standard policy for Adobe? If so, at what stage in the processing of our purchase were we made aware of this?
I'm trying to get hold of Adobe on the phone, have waited on hold for over an hour on two occasions, and am trying again now but this is incredibly frustrating for such a simple query.

I have checked your account and found that you have purchased the subscription this year in the month of August and this subscription is good till August 2014 because of the fact that we have opted for a One year contract . The renewal would be taking place every month for the same amount that is happening right now .
