Why i get exception here?

can anybody point the cuse of :
java.lang.NullPointerException

     at dataitem_03.Application.main(Application.java:49)
ny running this code :

  JTextArea[] textArea = new JTextArea[10];
  BorderLayout borderLayout1 = new BorderLayout();
  public PanelWinNumbers() {
    try {
      jbInit();
    catch(Exception e) {
      e.printStackTrace();
  private void jbInit() throws Exception {
    borderLayout1.setHgap(20);
    borderLayout1.setVgap(20);
    this.setBackground(SystemColor.control);
    this.setBorder(BorderFactory.createEtchedBorder());
    this.setLayout(borderLayout1);
    for(int i=0;i<textArea.length;i++){
      this.add(textArea);

You have declared an array of 10 JTextAreas,
but each of them are still null. Try:
for (int i=0; i < textArea.length; i++){
  textArea[i] = new JTextArea();     // <<-- LINE ADDED
  this.add (textArea);
