Why is adobe premiere cs6 workspace replaced with full black screen?
Windows 7 Pro. AMD 3.2 Ghz hexacore, 16 Gb RAM, tons of HD space. Nvidia GPU 470 with Cuda. Dual screen
Adobe Premiere pro CS6.
Usually Premiere works fine and i have no problems. However sometimes when I work, I suddendly get a dual black screen. No matter where I click with mouse, the monitors remain black.
The only way I found to go around is to call Task Manager, then the task bar opens again at the bottom of main screen and by clicking on Premiere icon (which I permanently have there), I can get again my workspace.
Did others get the same issue, which can be a real nuisance?
Right click in any open area of the Windows desktop
Select NVIDIA Control Panel from the popup window
Select SYSTEM INFORMATION at the lower left corner
Driver version should be the 1st line in Details
I have a GTX285 using driver 296.10 and Win7
Once you post your driver version, someone may be able to tell you if you need either a newer driver, or an older driver because your driver has a "known" problem

Why does Adobe Premiere CS6 slow playback after importing some audio?
Adobe Premiere CS6.0 v6.0.2
Mac Pro:
1, 4 core - 3.2ghz CPU
16gb ram (4 sticks of 4gb @ 1066 MHz)
1 Tb dive with OS/Apps on
2Tb 7200 RPM media drive
ATI Radeon HD 5770
Sequence:
30Fps
1920x1080
Media:
mostly .MFX files from a Canon XF100 however these clips commonly play nice with Premiere.
Issue:
After importing some audio clips (.wav/.mp3, possibly other extensions) to the timeline on occasion the video playback will become choppy and the audio will slow down 3% creating any voices in the video to become deeper and slows down. Choppy video playback as well. The problem is very annoying but it can be temporarily fixed with a computer restart but it will come back.
Things to note:
Creating a rendered ID (Exporting the movie out to a .mov) the slowed choppy video does not appear in the final movie.
Temp. Solution:
The only way I can fix this problem is by restarting the computer. Simply restarting Adobe Premiere and closing any non-essential applications does not fix the problem.
Any ideas on how to fix this are much apperciated.Try converting your MP3 to AIFF ,QT or something else Macs like. See if that helps.

Multiple Adobe Premiere CS6 workspace problems Win 7
Here's a screenshot of my workspace to help to describe the problems I'm facing.
1. Why can't I get the top right pane to match the top left's aspect by default?
After madly mouse clicking around the top right pane image crosshairs come up and I've managed to manually adjust the image onto a black background, see this screenshot
And after all this fuss I'm worried my output video quality will not be the crisp resolution of the left hand frame, but the much more blurry right hand pane.
2. I'm trying to insert keyframes with stuff like people's names.
Adobe help keeps on telling me to locate a 'wrench shaped' icon in the bottom timeline frame - I can't find one and continue following the keyframe instructions.
3. If I undock a panel, and say drag it across my extended desktop to my second screen - how do I re-dock it? Can see an undock command but not a re-dock?Hi,
After looking at the screenshot of the issue you have, I can say that you have not selected the correct sequence settings.
After Import all the clips in Premiere Pro please right click on one of the clips and choose the option "New Sequence from Clip". It will create a new sequence for you with the correct settings and you will have full image on the program monitor as well.
Hope that helps.
Thank you,

Adobe Premiere Cs6 Windows freezes with Tesla M2090 and Quadro FX 4800
Premiere works firn with the Quadro FX 4800 in Windows. But I bought a Tesla M2090 and it loses all power. For example a video cannpy be displayed on the monitor screen and if you try to play it on the porgram window, it freezes the whole application. It has to be killed.
I wonder if anybody ever tested this card. It passes all tests (the M2090) from the Cusa Toolkit.
Maybe somebody knows a utility to test the Tesla and see if it really works as expected.
I can open a technical support ticket if it makes sense.
Update: I moved the Quadro FX and Tesla to a MAC, there is no advantages on speed when exporting a movie. Isn't Premiere supposed to work faster with a Tesla on Mac as well. That is what they told me in tech support. The M2090 does not work in Windows, and in a Mac is not taken into consideration, I guess since Nvidia did not write a Mac driver for this card and it still uses a generic CUDA driver
I am despondent over this. Adobe support gave me wrong information. It is explicitly stated Tesla C2070/2075 and a Quadro card only to achieve a Maxumus configuration, not a very old FX card. Given the limited number of CUDA cores in the Tesla card and the limited bandwidth, the first Maximus results are far from appealing. A Quadro 6000 + Tesla C2075 (€ 6000) is slower than a GTX 570 for a fraction of the price (€ 270). Talk about BFTB.
From the documentation I have found about the M2090, for a whopping € 4800, it requires Windows Server 2008, is still based on the Fermi architecture and has the same number of cores as a 580, but less bandwidth. -
Why are Adobe Premiere Pro CS6 source and program monitors playing each others footage?
Why are Adobe Premiere Pro CS6 source and program monitors playing each others footage? I import my footage into the project like normal. I drag it to the source monitor on the left hand side to set in and out points then I drag it to the time line. The footage drops into the time line with no problem but when I go to play the footage in the time line it plays back on the source monitor and not on the program monitor like it is suppose to. Other times ill drag the clip to the time line and trim it there and it will be fine and show up on the program monitor. Then ill go try to set a clip to have in and out points (which is suppose to show up in the source monitor) but it shows up in the program monitor. The clip is not even in the time line it should not be on that monitor! I have updated the program to the late update. I have re installed the program numerous times and I have even ran the Adobe Clean up program. Couldn't find much on this problem. Please help thank you! I have a PC. My computer is also way over the recommended minimum specifications to have the program installed on.
Definitive Answer (I believe): It's all about this setting, "Write XMP ID To Files On Import" - which confirms that Adobe Premiere Pro is deliberately modifying the .mov file: http://helpx.adobe.com/premiere-pro/using/preferences.html#WSE3BD4A43-7022-4fe6-97F5-95313 935347B
These posts give some background as to why having this setting enabled would be beneficial: one benefit being to be able to skip conforming files by matching the conformed file with the original using the embedded XMP tag :-

Adobe Premiere CS6 'Create new Trimmed Project' Crash with .MXF files
Yesterday I started to back up all our students work, and found that the "Create New Trimmed Project" no longer works in CS6 with .MFX files.
Adobe Premiere CS6.0.3, crashes when I try to "Create New Trimmed Project" under "Project Manager"
This only happens when there are .MXF files in the Sequence.
As we use Panasonic P2 cameras at this university, this is a problem, as this is the format that they shoot in.
As a test I have made a Project with only one .MXF file placed on the sequence, and it crashes.
This happens on my Macs and Windows machines with Adobe Premiere CS6 .
Adobe Premiere CS5.5 works fine, and does not crash.
Unfortunately I cant save a CS6 project as a CS5.5
If you don't have any .MXF files to test this,
You can make your own .MXF files by exporting any video file as "MXF OP1a" or "P2 Movie" Format, (the Preset setting is irrelevant - any preset will cause it)
P.S.
Using "Collect files and Copy to new Location" under "Project Manager" works fine, but does not reduce project size as much.I also discovered this behavior last summer. Unfortunately the best (lame) answer I could find was that "Some formats, such as Long GOP based media files, cannot trim media, or add handles." Source: http://help.adobe.com/en_US/premierepro/cs/using/WS1c9bc5c2e465a58a91cf0b1038518aef7-7c72a .html
That's not very specific, but in my case at least (and it sounds like in your case, too) .MXF may be another file type that cannot be trimmed. If I remember correctly, the answers I got from others was that they were able to export fine. My machine (and maybe yours) has an issue that nobody else seems to have encountered. So none of the prescribed remedies allowed me to move forward in this regard.
After much searching, asking and several suggestions from various Premiere communities, I gave up and moved on.
Use Remove Unused and then Collect Files and Copy to New Location. At least that can help you if you have a lot of clips. In my case, it didn't help much, because my very short clips were edited from very long takes, so as Premiere sees it, not much was "unused".
Be aware that "Project Manager does not copy and collect After Effects compositions that are dynamically linked to an Adobe Premiere Pro project. Project Manager does save the Dynamic Link clip in the trimmed project as an offline clip, however."
Wish I could offer you more. -

MXF Files won't play in Adobe Premiere CS6
I had a music video shot on Wednesday, the cinematographer downloaded the files from the memory card onto an external hard drive.. Checked the files, they were fine, handed it off to me. Upon trying to open the MXF files in Adobe Premiere CS6, it gives me an error code of "preview in source monitor failure" "the importer reported a generic error". I've tried downloading codec and all sorts of things, and nothing is working. I also tried converting the files to MOV (i paid $30 for a converter) but the converters aren't playing back the audio, (i tried 4 different converters)… I thought it was some type of error in the files, but I checked with the cinematographer, and he even played back his MXF copy of the clips for me and they have the audio in.. I'm getting really frustrated because I HAVE to have the audio in order to sync up the lip syncing with the audio track. The cinematographer said the MXF file is an MPEG2.
Can anyone shed some light on this issue? I had wanted to have the video edited and released by next weekend. If I double click on the word holiday, it just shows the file folders. In the file folders the mxf files still don't open.

Hi, I have successfully downloaded and used a few CS6 programs in my new Creative Cloud membership, i.e. Photoshop, Flash, Bridge.
However, I've downloaded and installed and updated, twice, Adobe Premiere CS6. I did uninstall it in between installs.

Any suggestions on how to correct this? I don't want to go to a full computer reformat if there is a simpler solution since I just did one recently. Is there anything I can update or download as a patch, perhaps to fix this?
Thanks for any advice! I appreciate your time and looking into this.11. Jeff Bellune,

Adobe Community: PPro CS6 Hanging on Startup - Crashes or stops working.
Hi Jeff,
I actually did this yesterday, since I came across the same post. It didn't help. But thanks for suggesting it.
I've taken Premiere Pro CS6 off my computer and will try to reload it today. I am also having issues with the computer itself. If I go away from it and come back in say 10 minutes, everything is frozen. I need to contact HP about this and who knows, maybe Premiere will actually open if I get this other freezing problem taken care of.
I read to fix the HP freeze problem, to shut off the CoolSense feature, and I did, but it's still locking up. I have turned off any sleep, hibernate or other feature like that so it shouldn't be going into any kind of power saver mode. I adjusted my power settings.
I'm still under warranty, so will contact HP. Then I'll get back on the Premiere issue. When it rains it pours, eh? :>) -
How do I create an orange flash transition effect using Adobe Premiere CS6?
I am trying to create an orange flash transition effect using Adobe Premiere CS6 with my MAC computer.
Try this:
Add Cross Dissolve, cut and nest
Add a Fast Blur to the nest and tweak as in first screendump
Superimpose orange Color Matte and tweak as in second screendump
Make (fixed) effects into presets for future use.
Good luck. -
New imac with 10.8.4. With the new avchd coverter, I am not able to link offline MTS files in Adobe Premiere CS6. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Adobe hasn't updated it's products to look inside the avchd packages.
You'll have to do it for them.
Right-Click on the avchd package (or whatever it is called). Choose Show Package Contents.
Keep digging into the internal packages in a similar way until you get to the folder with the mts files.
When you tell Adobe to open a file, just drag the mts file into the Open File dialog. If it cannot maintain that link, you might have to move the files to some other location Adobe can process. -
Adobe Premiere CS6 for Mac, doesnt display the "subtitle/closed captions" option.
Hey there,
im trying to add subtitles to my Project as it is being described in this Video: http://tv.adobe.com/de/watch/training-f%C3%BCr-videographen/untertitel-mit-premiere-pro-cc -erstellen/
The option im looking for is "Untertiel" (german for Subtitle) as seen in this screenshot I made of the Tutorial Video
No if I try to do the same thing i get this:
The option "Untertitel" is simply not there!?!?! Why?
How can I get it?
As is said I use Adobe Premiere CS6 6.0.5 on my Mac
I would be sooo grateful for any help.
Best regards
MichaelHi Michael,
The tutorial you are using as a reference point is for premiere pro CC.
However you are using CS 6 Premiere pro.
Closed captioning feature was introduced in Premiere pro CC.
I am afraid this feature is not present in CS 6 Premiere pro.

Adobe premiere cs6 suddenly EXTREMELY slow and CPU intensive
Hi everyone,
I'm editing candon 5d mk III footage (h.264 files) on my late 2011 MacBook pro. Here are the specs..
240 gig SanDisk SSD harddrive (190 gigs free)
500 Gig (250 gigs free)
8 gigs ram
2.4 ghz i5 processor
Intel HD graphics 3000 graphics card
I'm a wedding videographer and I am currently closing my last edits of the season. I have edited 20+ 45 minute videos on Adobe Premiere CS6 and have had absolutely no issues at all. I enjoy working on premiere so much that I've been trying to get my videographer friends to give a shot and simplify their workflows.
Upon starting my second to last edit (same process as the other 18 videos I've done this season, organizing the footage within it's respective folder, loading it into premiere with the couples' choice in music and opening 4-5 new sequences based on the events of the day) I noticed that I was having a lot of trouble importing folders into my media bin. I had to import all of the footage unorganized because loading the folders "Preperation, Ceremony, Photos, Reception" with the footage within them would cause premiere to freeze and become unrepsonsive. So, finding no solution I added all the footage in no particular fashion. Just one large unorganized group. Then, while organizing the files into bins, I noticed even the smallest move would take several minutes to complete. Because I was working directly off of my hard drive I figured these kinds of delays would eventually catch up to me, so I moved all of my files to my HDD and decided to work on them there. The project itself continued to be extremely slow and started crashing regularly (especially when applying audio effects). After a few hours, I stopped being able to play 1080p video at all. It would jam and stutter so often it become unuseable. 720p video was the next to go along with my ability to render anything in less than 30 minutes - 1 hour. At last attempt to use premiere I was getting an "Unable to compile movie - Unknown Error" message when trying to render alpha channel things (lower third titles and things of the nature), my ability to change the resolution of the playback had disappeared (Going from full, 1/2 and 1/4 did nothing, it just remained at full quality) and finally doing anything in premiere caused it to use 300% of my CPU (based off of my Activity Monitors metering).
Does anybody have any clue as to what could be happening to my machine/program? I have a yearly subscription to adobe's creative cloud service if that helps. Oh and I've tried moving my media cache's from my HDD to my SDD with little or no results. Don't know if that helps.
Thank you to anyone who helps in advance. What I believe to be clean installs aren't doing anything so I'm hoping somebody can give me a hand.Sounds to me like specific media is dragging the Mac to a halt. (300%, really Apple? Isn't that like saying that my car can go up to 90mph, but last night I drove it at 300% speed, 270mph)
Some things to trouble shoot:
Do you have any assets in the project that are loaded directly from strange devices, like a SD card or CD audio? Any dynamic link media that may be problematic?
Is there anything that makes this footage different than footage from successful projects?
Can you work successfully with an old project?
Can you successfully start a new project using different or less media?
Is the 500 GB drive internal or external?
One time I was sent out at from work to troubleshoot a system that would freeze up like yours. The guy was an idiot and rude client that demanded that someone from our facility help him fix his own project. He said that he had been troubleshooting for a day, and then had convinced his organization's IT guy that he needed a way over spec new pc to run Premiere.
His system was fine. Within 3 minutes of checking media in his project, I saw that top track of the problem sequence had a video clip that was set to a speed of .01%, and he had the clip stretched for 24hours in the sequence. His project was supposed to be a 2 minute PSA. All his issues went away after removing the idiotic Day Long slow motion clip. He complained to my boss because I had laughed at him.
I relate that story to illustrate that it could be a weird thing with you media or fx, just as well as a hardware or software issue.
Good Luck -
Why is Adobe Flash CS6 crashing sporadically when resizing MC's or shapes?
Why is Adobe Flash CS6 crashing sporadically when resizing MC's or shapes?
It doesn't happen all the time but when Flash crashes, it happens when i'm resizing a symbol or a shape.
I'm using Flash CS6 v 12.0.0.481
Processor 2.7 GHz Intel Core i7
Memory 8 GB 1333 MHz DDR3
Graphics AMD Radeon HD 6630M 256 MB
Software OS X 10.8.1 (12B19)
-LineI'm going to add my voice to this bug report. Adobe Flash CS6 crashes sporadically for me (numerous times per day), and it's almost always when I am editing a vector shape control point using the subselection tool. If I select a control point and nudge it with the keyboard arrow keys, I haven't encountered a problem. But if I select a control point, then click and drag it to reposition it, I often get the spinning wheel followed by a crash. Is this really a bug or a problem related to my own hardware/software configuration?
I am working on a Mac Pro with 2 x 2.66 GHz 6-Core Intel Xeon processors, 24GB RAM running OS X 10.7.5. Here is the crash report from the most recent crash (about 10 minutes before I posted this):
