Why is my first bill so high?

I have just joined EE and downloaded the app to keep track of my billing and usage and was astounded to see that my first bill is £50 more than I had expected. I paid quite a substantial deposit on the phone from my debit card already so why am I being charged extra on top of this only a few days later under a title of Extra Charges? What does this mean and is it a mistake on my bill?

Hi ,
Welcome to the EE Community.
I have sent you a private message with a link to chat with our customer service team. They will be able to break down the extra charges for you.
Thanks for flagging this with us.

  • Why is my bill so high

I get my first bill at almost 500 and just want to no why

Your first bill is frequently a double bill. All carriers bill one month ahead, so your bill is a current month and the next month. It will include one time, activation fees of $40 per line.
If you log on and look at your bill and bill details it will show you why.
If you still don't understand the bill, we may be able to explain what you are seeing.

  • First bill high! and Data crazy

original bill was to be 186.00 for 3 lines. i added  2Gb to 6gb plan to make 8 gb to be safe we didnt run over data..and added  protection plan on 3 lines. my first bill is 358.00? i chatted with someone on verizon website that said my bill would be 226.00....
Also weve had these phone nearly a week or so. my S5 phone not been touched because i use another phone service for business. my data usage is 1.6gb on one line in 2 days of just setting phone up. how can it be possible to use that much data in even 2 weeks? how do i stop this mad data usage!?

its been only a couple days.ive used less than 2gb every month on

  • Overcharge on my first bill.

I understand that the first bill is usually a little higher than anticipated, but I didn't think that the bill would be 100 dollars more.  I ordered one of the cheapest packages, and I had cancelled a service before it was installed. And apparently that calls for extra billing.  Why am I being billed for a serviced I never recieved? If this is the case with verizon, I think I may take my business somewhere else, because I just cannot afford frivolous charges.

I share a similar experience in my first bill. My bill is $200. I switched to verizon, since there was a promotional offfer. One of the customer respresentative says, there is no prmotional offer. I am also planning to **bleep** from verizon, if I dont get a proper answer to my questions.

  • My first bill is not what I was told

My first bill was not $75 (as I had been led to believe) for monthly service but $77 plus $40 dollars for a variety of other extra charges. The $40 dollar charges were not explained and I could not get a real detail list of them on my first bill.   This is false advertising! I was told that I could get a discount for signing up for automatic billing, but I did not get a discount and I did not see the discount written anywhere on the web site either.  I was also told that I could get a discount for being elderly and disabled.  Neither of those claims were true either.  I am on a fixed income and can not afford extra expenses.  You sales staff, web site and process mislead and confuse customers purposefully.  I was not told that it would cost me $380 to get out of my two year commitment, but I found it in the fine print after I committed contractually.  So far my experience with Verizon wireless service has shown to be corrupt in the lack of informing customers of their real costs.  This is no way to run a business that needs to rely on reputation and word of mouth business. Your business is just another big corporation that is profiting from extreme greed without a care for their customers.  Whatever happened to truth in advertising? Then the worst of it is that I cannot get a contact person to talk to that is not a sales person.  It was one of their (several actually) sales staff that misled me to begin with. This note is the only forum I could find to complain.

The first bill is almost always higher because of prorated charges.  So if your bill prints on the 15th and you started service on the 30th of the prior month, your first bill will have half a month's charge for the 30th-15th, then the usual month in advance charges for the 15th-14th of the next month.  Discounts for autopay, I believe, take a month or two to show up.  There is a plan for people 65+, and you should be able to change to that plan if you want to, just make sure the change is set to take place the first day of the next bill period.
The other $40 in charges probably include activation and possibly insurance on the phone, and you should be able to pull up a detailed bill in MyVerizon with each line charge described.
How did you start your service?  Did you go to a store, call, or order online?  The ETF for a smartphone is $350, not $380, and if you were not informed of that you should have been, although if I were setting up service with a contract, I ask the terms of the contract, like fees, time frame, service and all that. Did you enter the agreement under the impression that there was no penalty for early cancellation?
Finally, this is primarily a customer to customer forum with occasional input from reps.  They are identified with a Verizon logo.  If you need immediate action, you will need to call.  I hope you are able to get everything straightened out and explained!

  • What are the non-basic services charges on my first bill

I switched to Verizon Freedom bundle package to save money. I was shocked when my first bill arrived with $123.03 due. It states Verizon non-basic charges 107.68  What is this and why was I not informed of these fees ahead of time. This is ridiculous.

Non-basic charges are usually things like Voice Mail and long distance calling. The first bill is always a stinger. You pay a full month in advance and a partial month, from the date of installation until your new bill date. So your first bill can be anywhere from 1-2 months of service. After the first bill you are on a 30-day billing. You can see your bill detail by signing in online and clicking on My Bill and then on "Print and Download" towards upper right of that page and being sure you select the Entire Bill. The bills are confusing because by law the services are taxed differently for basic  and non-basic so the bills have to be broken down into those services and each taxed accordingly. Our government wants their share...too much as usual, but we all know how the government is...

  • Service Order Confirmation vs. First Bill

I received a service order confirmation on 6/18.  The order listed my Internet service as being $24.99 per month and a $50 deposit.  I didn't receive my first bill until on 7/19 and now the monthly price was $19.99 covering service from 7/9 to 8/8.  Why was I charged $24.99 for 3 weeks of service? I installed everything myself and didn't use a Comcast modem. Does the service order confirmation even confirm payment or just the fact that I ordered the service?  If someone could clear this up for me, I would be very appreciative.

    @internetuser3
I am sorry for the delay. I have sent you a private message to assist you further.

  • Missing bill credit on first bill

I have had my new phone and plan for less then twenty four hours and now see I owe $105. One day? After reading everything about billing I'm still confused how signing up for a plan that would (total) $55 plus tax per month, how it became $105 due now. I also don't see my billing credit of $100 that Walmart said I receive when I sign up for Verizon. I now feel stupid for getting a (smartphone) and a Verizon plan.

In general your first bill will be prorated from the day you activate your phone through the end of the current billing cycle plus you will be charged for the following billing cycle since Verizon charges for service up front.  The $100 bill credit you are referring to takes 2-3 billing cycles to show up on your account. Hope this helps your next bill should be $55 + taxes and fees.  The first bill is always higher so don't feel stupid for getting the smartphone.

  • Why is there no scaling for high resolution monitors in Adobe Bridge CC?

Why is there no scaling for high resolution monitors in Adobe Bridge CC?
Photoshop CC, Illustrator CC and Indesign CC have 200% scaling for high resolution monitors in their preferences panel but Bridge CC does not, when will this feature be added to Bridge CC Adobe???

Inconsistency between or among applications in the artificial "suites" should come as no surprise.
The "suite" concept is a fabrication of Adobe marketing and bean-counting types.  The engineering teams are totally independent of each other, they are not only in different buildings but in different cities and states of the American Union, even in different countries.
The fact that they have little if any communication among them is highlighted by requests occasionally made in these forums by top Adobe engineers to let the other teams know when there are problems in one application that impact our workflow in another one.

  • First bill payment due date?

    Hello,
I haven't received my first bill yet by mail but the verizon app/website tells me how much I owe and also the due date on jan 7, 2013. Does this mean my due date is on the 7th of every month or only for this first bill?

Yes, if your on-line account shows your due date as Jan. 7, then your due date will be the 7th of each month.  Paper bills usually arrive about two weeks before the due date (at least mine does); the bills are usually available for viewing on-line 3-4 days after the billing cycle ends.

  • Function module to identify first bill or invoice to the customer

    Dear all,
Is there any function module to identify first bill/invoice or both to the customer?.
    with regards,
    Umar

Try ISU_PREVIOUS_BILL_SELECT. If it returns a previous bill, then the current one is not the first one, if no previous bill returned, then this is the first one.

It is necessary to confirm your identity as the 'buyer'.  Please do not use all capital letters.  It is not well regarded here and can be tricky to read for some. Thank you.

  • Why is the first video frame black?

Why is the first frame black?  How can I fix this?  When I edit a video, which includes removing the first second, and render it using medium quality H.264, the first frame is black in QuickTime, and the first second or two of video is black in HTML5 Video on the web.  When I load it in PS CS6 Extended, the first frames do not appear black.  When I render in low quality I don't get black frames but HTML5 Video looks terrible in Internet Explorer.   Thanks.
