Why is my wireless network not found?

I have just installed HP Deskjet F4500 on my PC. I want to connect to my wireless network connection but it keeps telling me "wireless network not found". (I am using my wireless so I know that the wireless connection is fine.) I have all correct details (correct network, SSDI, WPE encryption code) for installation but no luck.
I have a Netgear DG834N router. I did run the www.hp.com/go/networksetup analyser which told me that HP is not currently supporting the router. Can that be right?
This question was solved.

OK, let's go check the router's settings:
Type 192.168.1.1 into a browser.  The login is 'admin' and the password is 'password'.
On the left side, choose Wireless Settings under the Setup heading.  You should see your SSID.  Make sure the Mode is set to 145Mbps.  Here you can choose your Security Options.  I highly recommend WPA2-PSK (AES).  If you have WEP, please change it.  WEP is not secure.  If you change your security settings, choose a passphrase that is at least 13 characters, numbers and letters, upper and lower case.  You will have to re-enter this into all of your wireless devices.
Now, lower on the left side, choose Wireless Settings under the Advanced heading.  Make sure that SSID broadcast is checked.
If you changed anything, check Apply toward the bottom.
Let me know what you found.

  • E61 - "network not found" in Hotspot area?

    Hi,
yesterday I was in a restaurant that had a sign saying "Free wireless Internet access". So I tried to connect using my E61. When I selected "search for WLAN" as the AP, it was found and displayed all right. But when I selected it, I got the message "network not found".
Can anybody tell me what that was? Like "I know it´s here, but I can´t find it"?
    Thanks a lot!

    Hi jimmyireland,
sorry, but you´re talking in riddles. I am no cleverer after reading your answer. I´ll tell you exactly what happened on my phone:
I´ve set it to always ask me which AP to use, so I get to choose whether to connect to my mobile network or to any other configured network. I can also "search for a WLAN". After reading the sign, I selected that. I was told the names of several wireless networks, among others the one in the restaurant. So I selected that and hit "Connect". After a few seconds, I then got the message "No network available".

  • Nokia X6 Wifi network not found

I've been using my home wifi connection on my phone for a while, but then one day when I tried connecting it, it says 'WLAN network not found' I've tried refreshing it a lot of times and it sometimes shows up, but it doesn't let me connect. Could it possibly be because of my network at home, or is it something to do with the phone?

same thing was happening to me on my x7-00. To fix it First try checking if other apps are using wifi and close them. If it doesnt work try restarting you phone and see if it works. If it doesnt work try deleteing your wifi accsess point from you phone and try reconecting to wifi network, phone will automaticly set accsess points again, and it should work. If not try factory setting reset to you phone and it should work 100%. Of non of this methods are working try checking you wifi router setting and check if mac filteringnig function is blocking you or not. You can also try connecting to an other wifi network.
    Good Luck

  • Photosmart 7515 connect via USB but not wireless, Device not found on Network

Purchased a 7515 all-in-one, was able to setup wirelessly to MacPro but has lost ability to connect wirelessly.  This happened with OS X Lion and nor MountainLion.  Have a TimeMachine Airport.  Printer connects to network but during setup from MacPro, repeatedly get "Device Not Found on Network" after stepping through wireless installation setup screens.  I have reset router, printer, firmware updates, software updates.... at wits end.  I have followed the instructions on the below resource page link with no luck.  Use WPA-PSK encryption (Automatic AES or TKIP) on network and diagnostics on printer pass.
    Please help anyone!
    http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/document?docname=c02946597&tmp_task=solveCategory&cc=us&dlc=en&la...

It sounds like the Macs and the printer just aren't communicating.
If you press the network icon on the printer, does it indicate it is connected to the network?
I recommend two additional steps that are not listed in the linked document.  The printing system of the Mac may need to be reset as it will clear any software that could be interfering (such as corrupted installations).
Follow the steps as outlined for 10.7 or 10.8 in this document from HP.
The next step is to install the driver package from Apple.  This can be found here.

  • Wireless Networks not available under Manage Default Printers.

I have a client who has 4 offices he travels between. He needs the default printer to change based on the name of the wireless network he connects to. This feature worked for a while, but after some unknown point stopped accepting new networks into the list
under "manage default printer". We changed the SSID of two locations a month ago, and I can not get them to show up in the list under "manage default printer". I went through and removed every listing under the "manage default printer"
list, hoping to start fresh, but after a week, in the dropdown menu, only the old networks are there.
Bottom line is I need to find out why these new SSID are not showing as an option to select inside of "manage default printers". Or find a way to manually add them. I (believe) have found where they appear to be in the registry, but the values
for network name seem to be encrypted. Is there a file I can edit somewhere to manually add in these entries?
The target networks are remembered and can be managed by windows, and connect automatically.
This is a Windows 7 Pro laptop.
    Thanks!

    Hi,
Based on my research,it may be caused that you have not deleted network locations completely.
Please follow the steps to check the result.
1.open the Network and Sharing Center console in Control Panel.
2.Click on the "Icon" under "View your active networks". This will open the "Set Network Properties" dialogue. Here you can rename a network connection or change the icon for that network connection.
3.Click on "Merge or Delete Network Locations" to see a list of stored network connections. You can delete the old SSID.

  • Extending wireless network, not working?

ive been trying to set up a new wireless network for a few days now and while i got this network up and running i still doubt if its exactly what i want.
i have extreme(n), time capsule(n) and an express(n). im using the extreme as my "base" which is connected to the internet and both the capsule and express are connected by wires. but whenever i use the setting "extend a wireless network", the stations will just become undetectable and not working at all. so to get my network to work i configured them all with "create a wireless network" giving them all the same network name which is working fine. but is this even roaming?

    Welcome to the discussions!
When you are having extending difficulties, it's often helpful to temporarily locate the Express near your main router...across the room or in an adjacent room and test to see if that works.
If things worked fine for 6 months and suddenly you have problems, that may indicate that a new wireless network near you has been added at one of your neighbors, which is causing interference on your network.
Cordless phones are a real problem as well. My neighbor...across the street....can literally knock me off my network if he is in his front hard talking on his cordless phone. I found this out simply by accident, otherwise I would still be blaming Apple for stuff that worked fine for months and then suddenly did not work.
If the Express works close to the main router, then move the Express further away and test again. Most users locate the Express too far away from the main router when they try to extend a wireless network. A good starting location is a point that is about 1/2 to 2/3 of the distance between the main router and the area that needs more coverage.
Open AirPort Utility and click on your AirPort Express on the left and look for its AirPort ID on the right. Jot that down.
When you are testing the extension of the Express, move your laptop close the Express, and hold down the option key on your Mac while you click on the fan shaped AirPort icon at the top of the screen. Look for the BSSID. This should match the AirPort ID of the Express, indicating that your computer is connecting to the AirPort Express.

  • Why is my Wireless Network so painfuly slow ?!?!?!?! [Im using WRT54G Router]

I have a wireless network/internet connection setup in my house. I have Wireless G Linksys Router sending my 10mb Internet signal to my Laptop PC and G5 Mac, the internet works fine, great speeds on both pc and mac, however...
When i try and transfer files between my mac and pc on the wireless network its painfuly slow [it takes about 5 minutes to transfer a 60mb file]. However when i plug them in together using an ethernet cable the speeds are great and 50mb will transfer in a matter of seconds rather than minutes.
My problem is that having them connected via an ethernet cable is far from practical and i really want to be able to do fast transfers via the wireless network iv setup, this must be possible ?? this why i purchased this router after all !!
If anyone has any idea why the wireless network is so slow or how i could go about sorting it out then please let me know...I cant stress how much it would be apreciated !
Some Relevant Info which might be handy in diagnosing the problem:
    - Im using a Linksys WRT54G Router with the latest firmware
    - My Internet goes from the modem into the Router downstairs which then sends the wireless signal to my pc and mac upstairs
    - Wireless Reciever [airpot extreme card] on mac is wireless G
    - Wireless Reciever [Intel Pro Wireless] on pc is wireless B
    - Transfering from mac to pc or pc to mac makes no difference to speed, its extremley slow for each.
    - Im the only person using the network
    - Im running the latest version of Windows XP and OSX Tiger
    - The Signal Strength when recieving the Internet is Excellent
    - Iv tried disabling any firewalls within the network [on the router/pc] and it makes no difference
PLEASE HELP !!!Message Edited by Altair on 10-08-200608:34 PM

Part of the problem is your wireless B.  This will limit any file transfers to a maximum of 11 Mbps = about 1.1 M byte per second, after allowing for system overhead bits.
Therefore the minimum possible transmission time for a 60 M byte file, through a wireless B, would be about a minute.
Your wired connection runs at 100 Mbps, so the same file would take only about 6 seconds.
This may explain part of your problem.  This is part of the reason your system is taking much more than 6 seconds.  However, I do not know why your system is taking 5 minutes instead of 1 minute.

  • None of your trusted networks not found??

I have a wireless network called X setup at home. My macbook can connect to it just fine using airport, but it will NOT recognize it as a "preferred network".
Every time I reboot, it will say "Trusted NW not found, want to join <another name>"? I will then go to the airport dropdown, select X and it will work fine.
I have set up X as my "preferred network" in the network option dialog.
Any ideas how I can make it connect to X all the time automatically?
    Thanks
    Andy

"Am I missing a setting somewhere?"
    Hi coreworksnet!
You can use the "Options..." button located below the list of preferred networks.
A drop-down box gives you the option of making a new selection for the "If no recent networks are found:" selector, which has a default setting of "Ask before joining an open network." Instead direct your Mac to "Keep looking for recent networks."
Once you make your choices, click on the blue "OK" button, and after the drop-down box retreats, click the "Apply Now" button to make that change to your configuration. Your Mac will no longer look at another network. Your AirPort icon will still display other available networks, but AirPort will not ask if you want to join, nor will it try to join any network other than those on your list of preferred networks.
This may not agree with everyone when traveling and searching for available networks, but it's easy to change and the results are totally predictable.
Ok, that'll prevent what you're being asked, but to resolve the hanging issue that will then occur when it should instead be joining your network instantly, you'll want to use the above suggestion by James.
Let us know how you make out, as there are a couple other steps to take if need be.

  • Wireless network not working

    Hello,
I have a SMC7004VWBR Barricade Router, part # 7509821, version 2. I purchased the Router in 2004 and it has worked flawlessly since then up until last week. I have a home office network that consists of 2 desktop computers connected to the router via Ethernet cables and a laptop computer (Macintosh iBook, OS 10.3.9) connected via wireless (Airport card in laptop). My Internet connection is via DSL modem.
Beginning last week the iBook's wireless connection to the network stopped functioning on a consistent basis. When I wake the iBook from sleep there is no signal coming from the network even through airport is on and airport is selected in the system preference pane. I have played with all the settings and still no connection. However, after leaving the iBook off over the weekend while I was away, when I re-booted, the signal came back! But then it disappeared again after putting the iBook to sleep and then re-booting. This happened again after the iBook was off overnight and I re-booted. Now I cannot get the signal to appear at all, even if I turn off the iBook for a few hours.
In all other respects the network works fine. If I connect an Ethernet cable to the iBook from the router, the connection comes back on via ethernet, but airport stays disconnected.
I brought the iBook to a public library yesterday that has a wireless network and it immediately found the network and stayed connected. Does this mean the issue is in the router?
I would very much appreciate any help you can offer.
    thank you,
    Bob W.

Firstly what OS are you currently on? Guess you have check things like the deivce driver is installed, the device is in switched the on position (you did say yes to that) and not disabled in the network connections either... If you have done them, something else you can check is that the WLAN AutoConfig service is enabled and started. To do this open services, this can be done by the run command (Win Key + R) and type "Services.msc". Press ok. Near the bottom of the list that appears should be WLAN AutoConfig, check the service is started and its set to Automatic. If this helps yipee if not no idea what else it could be.

  • Time Capsule wireless network not visible.

I have a first gen TC which up to today was working great.
Today it was very, very slow on the wireless side but ok on the wired side.
I restarted the cable modem and the TC, after which everything looks okay - but the wireless network is not visible to any of my devices.
I have restarted it three times, reset it to factory and reconfigured it, switched the network settings to no security and other things but my iPhone, my iPad and my MacbookPro do not see the wireless network regardless of the security option or the networking type - N-only or B/G compatible.
As I say it was fine until I returned from vacation today.
    Any thoughts?

OK, so I have done this and it's made no difference. The new network Apple Network b73829 is still present alongside Wireless LAN.
I can only access Time Capsule if I switch to the new network, with the resulting loss of internet access from my Powerbook and, if I switch back to Wireless LAN I regain internet access but cannot see Time Capsule.
Although I just want to use Time Capsule to back up I have tried to connect it to my wireless LAN using the Join Existing Network on Airport Utility (even though I've been told I don't need to do this for Time Machine) but it has failed each time. After entering the password and wireless password information etc. and pressing update the Time Capsule device does re-start but there is ALWAYS an error message that says the device cannot be found and I should check that I am close to it (it's 3 feet away) or I should connect via Ethernet. If I connect via Ethernet it seems to disable the wireless functionality that I bought the device for.

  • BDP-S390 Wireless Adapter not found

I purchsaed my BDP-S390 2 days ago and the internet was working perfectly, then this morning when I tried to use it, it wasn't working (getting unable to connect) so I reset the Network settings and tried setting up the adapter again (my wireless is working fine on my laptop and smart phone) and now I'm getting an error message saying that the Wireless LAN Adapter can't be found and to check the devices USB port, but the adapter is built-in.  I've reset the Network settings (and the device) a couple of times and it doesn't fix it, anything else I can try? Thanks.

I have updated my BDP-S390 to the latest firmware (via burning a CD from downloaded file), and still get the message about "USB Wireless LAN Adapter not found".  Somewhere in this forum, advice was given to then restore the unit to factory settings, which I did, but I still get the error message.    Call to telephone support said that means the built-in LAN adapter is broken, and I have 3 choices: 1. Send the unit in for repair (a lot of trouble, and I'd have to pay since it's more than a year old).2. Buy a USB LAN adapter (I have to purchase).3. Hardwire the unit to my internet gateway with an ethernet cable (impractical, since in different part of house). I find it completely unacceptable that my unit suddenly stopped working like this.   I find it unbelievable that there was an actual hardware failure within my unit, since so many people report the same failure (or if it is, it's a systemic failure that Sony should fix for free, else supply the USB adapter).   I suppose I will try option #2 above (purchase a USB LAN adapter), since Amazon has one for $10 or so: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B008IFXQFU?refRID=1Q425HCH8G6TCNENYT80&ref_=pd_cart_vw_2_1_p Maybe it will work. Meanwhile, I will not be purchasing any more Sony A/V products, and I will advise my friends (including Facebook pretend "friends") of the same (I'm asked a lot, since I am a computer/electrical engineer).   Pretty ****** to anger people like this, since I'd have been satisfied if they sent me the USB LAN Adapter, and I'm sure they can source 'em for a lot less than $10.

  • Why am I getting File not Found alert when I type into my browser?

Why do I keep getting a File not Found alert when I type into my browser?
I have been using firefox for about 4 yrs now with very few problems. The problem I am having is that when ever I go to type in anything into my browser I keep receiving this message:
(Scroll down to see the rest)
    File not found
Firefox can't find the file at jar:file:///C:/Program Files (x86)/Mozilla Firefox/omni.jar!/chrome/en-US/locale/browser-region/region.propertieschronic+fatigue+syndrome.
I recently installed Firefox 5.0 and this keeps happening. It happened with the 4.0 version a couple of days ago but mostly it is the 5.0 version that I am having problems with. When ever I want to do a search I have to manually type in google.com. Is there a solution to fix this?

The NuGet is a dll that was built with 4.0.0.0.  The easiest thing to fix problem is target you VS project to use Net 4.0.  You could get a new version of NuGet, but if you do make sure you rebuild your entire project.  The dependencies in
the VS compiler doesn't always recognize updated libraries.  So I normally rename the bin folder in the project and then delete the bin folder.  VS will create a new bin folder and then rebuild all the source files.  If your project contains
multiple projects then remember to delete the bin from all projects.

  • Password for wireless network not remembered

I am stuck with the following situation. I have a wireless network overhere, which is a 802.1X-type network which consists of a huge number of different base stations connected together, which requires me to login and has TTLS (PAP) type identity control.
When I configure this into the Internet Connect application, with my password, it connects. However, on reboot, the Finder immediately asks for my password. When I look in Internet Connect, it's still there, but when I look in System Prefs, the password is not there (only a blank field). When I enter it, click OK, and check the dialog again, the password is already gone into the wind.
I deleted all entries of the network in all my keychains, reinstalled my system and now I've set the keycahin entry for the network accessible by all programs, but that doesn't help me either. I had a Macbook here not long ago, which didn't suffer from this problem (however, it did not reconnect after sleep/reboot all the time, but never asked me for my password).

Do not check "Remember Networks this computer has joined."
In Advanced>Preferred Networks, enter the name of your Network. This is how I have mine set up and I have not experienced any more problems like yours, although I did in the past. In Preferred Networks, I have redundantly entered the same name twice, just in case it skips off to the second one. Probably not needed, but it's been working fine like that for a long time.
However, since I don't have an Airport Extreme, I don't use Airport Utility. Definitely try rebooting the AE. Might try applying or reapplying the 10.6.8 Combo update.

    Hi,
I have a virgin cable modem into a time capsule.

Since updating my phone and ipad to ios5 the areas where my network were extended are now not receiving a wifi signal.

is there a way to disable Wireless A, B and G on both Airport Expresses or to force the settings from the Airport Extreme onto both APs to also make them do N Only?
Unfortunately, no. The "extending" devices use default wireless settings, a/n/b/g wireless.
