Why is ORA-01017 after 'connect /@SID' ?
Dear Guru ,
I am doing the Database Import Step for our SAP4.7 system .
Everything is okay , but when i use below command to login the database , it showed me the error message :
SQL> connect /@T19 ;
ERROR:
ORA-01017: invalid username/password; logon denied
Warning: You are no longer connected to ORACLE
Does someone can help me solve this problem ?
Thanks .
Best Regards,
Carlos Zhang
Hi,
Mainly this error occurs in SAP system, when there is a problem in Oracle database OPS$ authentication mechanism.
Check if the correct operating system username entries are there in database.
Things to Check:
1. Check that environment variable ORACLE_SID=<DBSID> is set properly.
2. Check if remote_os_authent=true is set in your oracle initialization/spfile.
3. Check if OPS$<SID>adm user is created in the database.
SQL>select username,account_status from dba_users;
USERNAME ACCOUNT_STATUS
OPS$<SID>ADM OPEN
OPS$ORA<SID> OPEN
OPS$SAPSERVICE<SID> OPEN
SYS OPEN
SYSTEM OPEN
SAPSR3 OPEN
OUTLN LOCKED
TSMSYS EXPIRED & LOCKED
DIP EXPIRED & LOCKED
ORACLE_OCM EXPIRED & LOCKED
DBSNMP EXPIRED & LOCKED
11 rows selected.
4. Check that you are using correct username and password.
Below SAP Notes will help you:

Why do windows resize after connecting to video?
When I plug my MacBook into a video display - my TV or an LCD projector - the windows of open programs resize, mainly get smaller (not full screen) and get stretch horizontally. This makes it difficult to manage applications while on video, and makes them all look funny on the screen. Is there a way to avoid this? I don't see any point in why you would want it to do that. It is just a big pain especially when making a public presentation.
thanks for any help you can give.
MacBook 2.1 Lion .1
4mb RAM 120 gb diskHi pandugadu,
When you tried resetting your iPod (per the instructions in the Apple article), did the iPod sucessfully restart and display the Apple logo on its screen?
If so, then let's try forcing your iPod into disk mode. For instructions, see:
Putting iPod into disk mode
With the iPod hopefully in disk mode, try connecting it to your computer, and see if it's recognized.
If the iPod simply isn't responding and won't get off the "Do Not Disconnect" screen (even when its not connected to your computer), then you might want to try letting your iPod's battery drain down.
Then, when it's finally dead on battery power, let it recharge through a power source, preferrably a wall charger.
If your iPod simply isn't being recognized by iTunes (but it's not having a problem of freezing up, separate from iTunes), then check out the suggestions from these Knowledge Base articles, and see if they help:
iPod missing in "My Computer" or in iTunes for Windows
iPod is recognized by Windows but not iTunes
iTunes 7 doesn't recognize iPod
Fast user switching on a Windows computer is not supported for iPods
iPod is not recognized properly by computer when USB drivers are not installed properly or are out of date
Any success after trying that?

Why did apps disappear after connecting to iMac?
I connected my iPad to my iMac for the first time and several downloaded apps disappeared. Where did they go and how can I keep it from happening again?
Thanks in advance. In order to prevent it - when you connect the iPad to the Mac - Transfer Purchases first before syncing - but turn auto sync off so that this will work without issue.
iTunes >Preferences>Devices> check the box at the bottom that says "Prevent iPods, iPhones .....from automatically syncing" click OK, and quit iTunes.
Connect the iPad to the Mac, launch iTunes, right click on the iPad name on the left side under "Devices" and select - Transfer Purchases. All purchased content will transfer into iTunes on the Mac. Now you can go into the Apps tab, make sure that those apps show up and have been selected to sync. Check all content of you liken all tabs. Sync when you are ready. If you make changes, click on Apply in the lower right corner to apply the changes.
You can download the apps again for free if you use the same ID that you bought them with. Use the purchased Tab in the App Store to find the apps. -
New user created in oracle 11g (release 2) is not connecting (ORA-01017)
Hi All,
Kindly help me out regarding this.
I have created a new user using "ORACLE Enterprise Manager 11g" and used the same credentials in SQL developer for a new connection and it throw "ORA-01017: invalid username/password; logon denied" message.
Kindly note that have followed the following steps in creating user:
On the Users page, click Create.
In the Name field, enter NICK.
In the Profile list, accept the value DEFAULT.
This setting assigns the default password policy to user Nick.
In the Enter Password and Confirm Password fields, enter a password that is secure.
Create a password that is secure. See Oracle Database Security Guide for more information.
Do not select Expire password now. If the account status is set to expired, then the user or the database administrator must change the password before the user can log in to the database.
(Optional) Next to the Default Tablespace field, click the flashlight icon, select the USERS tablespace, and then click Select.
All schema objects that Nick creates will then be created in the USERS tablespace unless he specifies otherwise. If you leave the Default Tablespace field blank, Nick is assigned the default tablespace for the database, which is USERS in a newly installed database. For more information about the USERS tablespace, see "About Tablespaces".
(Optional) Next to the Temporary Tablespace field, click the flashlight icon, select the TEMP tablespace, and then click Select.
For the Status option, accept the default selection of Unlocked.
You can later lock the user account to prevent users from logging in with it. To temporarily deny access to a user account, locking the user account is preferable to deleting it, because deleting it also deletes all schema objects owned by the user.
Grant roles, system privileges, and object privileges to the user, as described in "Example: Granting Privileges and Roles to a User Account".
Note: Do not click OK in Step 13 of "Example: Granting Privileges and Roles to a User Account". Instead, skip that step and continue with Step 12 in this procedure.
Assign a 10 MB quota on the USERS tablespace, as described in "Example: Assigning a Tablespace Quota to a User Account".
If you did not click OK while assigning the tablespace quota (previous step), click OK now to create the user.Kindly note that I have log in as SYSTEM user and created this new user.
Could any one help me regarding this ?After connecting with sqlplus, as user SYSTEM and when tried the below, I could see that the new user created by me does not exist..
select '--' || username || '--'
from dba_users
order by username;
But when tried with GUI "ORACLE Enterprise Manager 11g" I can very well see the new user created by me..
How is this possible mate??
Is the user not properly created through GUI (than from where it is showing the new user)
Some more information i want to share;
i have used schema "HR"
And have used table space "USERS"
And tep tablespace "TEMP"

ORA-01017 invalid username and password on remote connection.
1. Server: Windows 2003 service Pack 2 64 bit
2. Oracle 10.2.0.4
I created a new database and setup everything. Database is up running. At second day, I tried to connect this database from a remote client laptop. A normal user connection is working (I changed sqlnet.ora file to SQLNET.AUTHENTICATION_SERVICES = (NONE)). but I couldn't connect as SYS or SYSTEM users through SQLPLUS or Third party SQL tool. It gave me ORA-01017 error. My steps like:
C:> set Oracle_sid=mydb
C:>sqlplus /nolog
SQL:>conn sys/syspassword as sysdba
ORA-01017
However, I remotely log on to server machine, do the same steps
C:> set Oracle_sid=mydb
C:>sqlplus /nolog
SQL:>conn sys/syspassword as sysdba
SQL:> connected
What caused this error from remote client connection. I have done some search to resolve the problem. Some suggest to re-create password file or create OPS$user. I just setup SYS password during database creation. So I don't want to re-create password file. I have another client machine in office that can connect as SYS and SYSTEM users either from server or from SQLPLUS on client machine without problem. So the issue is on my laptop that is connected to database remotely. Please give me some advices. Thanks. Thanks for all of your advices. I want to say:
1. I just created this new database yesterday and created SYS password during database creation from another clinet machine in my office. All connections are working. This is why I don't want to change the password at this moment. If I re-create password file, will this affect another client machine in office to connect to DB as sysdba?
2. From server, I can connect. I used the same sys/syspassword as sysdba. If the password is wrong, I would not be able to connect from server.
3. When I tried to connect from remote client machine, I do connect with string like: SQL:> conn sys/syspassword@mydb as sysdba. But it didn't work and return ORA-01017 error.
4. I have other 4 databases on different servers. I can connect from the same remote client machine through SQLPLUS and TOAD with sys as sysdba and system.
Please advise more. Thanks. -

Oracle server side jdbc thin driver throws ORA-01017
We upgraded our database to 11.2.0.1 from 9.2.0.6.
When we try to connect to an external database from Oracle JVM using server side jdbc thin driver, it throws invalid user id/password error.
The below test code simulates the issue and is not working on the upgraded instance. The same code is working in fine in other 11.2.0.1 instances. It worked fine before upgrade. In all cases, we are connecting to the same target database instance which is also in 11.2.0.1. It fails only on this database.
SEC_CASE_SENSITIVE_LOGON is set to false.
Any inputs will be highly appreciated.

This is what resolved our issue.
Step 1: alter system set java_jit_enabled=FALSE;
Step 2: Try your test case. If it is the same issue as ours, your test case will be successful. If it succeeds, Go to step 3. If it does not succeed, it is a different issue.

Why has my ipad lost connectivity to the AT&T cellular data network after upgrading to iOS 8.1.2? My iPad is model #MD367LL/A, 32 GB WIFI + Cellular, about 2-1/2 years old. It;s been working perfectly up until now. I have no problem on my home WIFI, or through personal hotspot working through my iPhone 5.
I have worked with AT&T, replaced the SIM card with a new one, and done a backup/restore to factory settings, all with the same result that when I turn Cellular
Data on, with or without Enable LTE, it goes into "searching" mode, or reports "no service". My iPhone 5 works perfectly on iOS 8.1.2, on Cellular. I've browsed the blogs and have tried Apple's suggested fix, all to no result.
Oddly enough, every once in a while I do get connected to the network for a short ime (minutes), but it always returns to "searching".
I've filed a report with Apple, along with a request that they contact me, but no results yet.
Help? (and thank you).Hello razmee209. Thank you for your response. I spent the better part of yesterday working with Apple Support. They tried their best, to include backing up photos to my HP laptop, backing up the iPad to iCloud, then resetting the iPad in total. Same problem. I restored from the cloud to recover my apps, same problem.
AT&T installed a new sim card - same problem. I spent time with AT&T Support yesterday, too. In both cases, (Apple and AT&T) the support techs who worked with me were extremely polite, courteous and helpful to the best of their abilities, but I think the problem lies deeper, and nobody at Apple is admitting they have a problem with iOS 8, that I'm aware of.
I didn't have this issue before I upgraded to iOS 8.1.2.
Everything else with the iPad works fine: WIFI, Personal Hotspot, email, all my apps, etc.
In browsing the web for this issue I see that many other folks have the same problem. I filed a report with Apple this morning, requesting that they contact me, but no word yet. I was going to go to iPhone 6, and had been considering the iPad Air 2, but I see reports of this problem with those units as well.
At this point I don't think I'll be spending any more money with Apple, at least not till this issue is resolved.
Thanks again for your response and suggestions. -
I'm using scan in hostname to connect as Basic that failed ORA-01017. I'm using the same credential system to logon from sqlplus and is fine.
Any ideas?Essentially all you have said is: help me, I have a problem.

2. full version of Java SDK being used
3. full version of JDBC jar file being used
4. full details on the connection information being used
5. full version of the Oracle client being used
6. confirm that both your sql*plus and sql developer connections were made from the SAME machine

ORA-01017: invalid username/password after DB copy
I am trying in my DR server. i am getting the following error ORA-01017: invalid username/password.
I have install SAP 4.7, windows 2000 adv , Oracle 9.2 (same as my Productin). then copied only the control files and the data files to the new location. both systems are the same the only diffreance is the production system is in domain and DR is not on the Domain
I cannot put the DR in domain as the name, SID, Noumber are the same as production. how can change this and get the DR server up and working ?
Is there a better way for this ?Hi Rehan,
If everything is identical on both servers, and the only difference is in the domain, then you are probably hitting an OPS$ issue.
The OPS$ usernames in the DB should look like
- In the primary host (included in the domain)
OPS$DOMAIN\<SID>ADM
OPS$DOMAIN\SAPSERVICE<SID>
- In the DR host (out of the domain)
OPS$<SID>ADM
OPS$SAPSERVICE<SID>
I assume the OS users (sidadm and sapservicesid) are also identical on both hosts.
Good luck

You are running the Examples application shipped with WLS, which I guest
the
correct DB to connect with is Cloudscape yet to Oracle, unless you make
changes to the original ConnectionPool in the examples. Anyhow, please
show
us your configuration of the ConnectionPool used when this error pops.

Deploy on Warehouse builder hangs after validations sucessfull (ora-01017)
Hello,
i've a problem with deploying the mappings on warehouse builder.
I know what's causing it, but i cannot find out how can i fix it.
Ive a database registered as "target" (not same bd where OWB repository is), where i want to deploy the mappings, that database has been registered with and user (SISED).
All is working fine until the password of this user SISED has been changed. Know when i try to do the deploy OWB ask me for the autentification of the runtime repository (owbrt_user), then it sucessfully validate the mapping, but when it tries to deploy (generate the package) it fails with ORA-01017 - Invalid Username/Password.
This is because somewhere in owb repository, the password of user SISED remains the old one. I've try to put SISED password as the old one, and after it works.
So my question is how can i change the password registered on OWB for the target database's user SISED. I try to do it with OWB client, but i cannot see this option in any place.
My mail is: [email protected] (if need some more detail for help me).
Thanks in advance,
regards,
Pedro RibeiroHi,
Have you tried to re-register the location in the Control Center?
In Control Center locate the location, right click and choose register. Think this might be the case, unless I've totally misunderstood you.

Send Apple feedback. They won't answer, but at least will know there is a problem. If enough people send feedback, it may get the problem solved sooner.

Or you can use your Apple ID to register with this site and go the Apple BugReporter. Supposedly you will get an answer if you submit feedback.
