Why is there another persons name on my emails received

On occasion when some cc me in an email, it has my correct address, but not my name attached.

I’m not sure this is helpful, but I have recently experienced and, hopefully, solved a somewhat similar problem. In my case, I suddenly started receiving emails from various websites which have periodically contacted me, with the “To:” reading not me but a different name though the pulldown arrow showed my correct email address. I had only recently entered that name in my Address Book. I then learned that the person with the other name had also been hit with something similar to my situation. When I realized what was going on, though I have never understood its purpose, I immediately did two things. I deleted that name in my AB. And, following the suggestion of someone in another thread on this Forum, I went to my Apple Mail Preferences/Viewing and unchecked Use Smart Addresses. The latter causes both recipient name and email to show rather than just the name, thus eliminating the hidden feature. There was also a scheduling aspect in all this, since, from time to time through the day, the names would switch from mine to the other one. Since I made those two simple changes, everything seems back to normal, the "other" name has totally disappeared,though I’m still a bit leery regarding what the Trojan or whatever was all about. So you should check your relevant Address Book entries including the one for yourself, and the Use Smart Addresses, maybe, for a start. Luck.

Why is there no way to delete all emails from my iphone? IOS 7.1. Every other phone in the market allows you to 'select all' then delete.
This trick of selecting one, then holding move, then unchecking (and subsequently moving all the emails to trash) doesn't work. I've read these suggestions and while it appears to work the emails just show up again once you leave and return to the inbox. Perhaps it worked on an older version of IOS.
It blows my mind this is not a standard function. I get a few hundred emails at work every day, and most of the time I just want to delete all of them from the phone as I've read them already. Currently it seems i can only click edit and then have to check each email individually to be able to delete them at the same time; this is the definition of tedious. I would think there are millions of other iphone users who get their company email on their phones that must experience the same thing. It seems now i either spend 20 minutes a day deleting emails, or just let thousands of emails accumulate on the phone (taking up space and also making it hard to just review the most recent emails which is all I want to be able to do when checking email on my phone).
I am hoping I am just missing some simple solution here that everyone else uses. Please help!!

Only Apple could answer as to why there is no "select all/"delete all" function in the iOS mail app. Users have been bemoaning this lack of functionality for years now. Like everyone else, you can submit feedback to. Apple here.

While I understand the whole idea of being able to use the phone on the run, if you have an IMAP email account, and if you have access to a computer at work during the day, use your "select all" function on the server and delete all of the unwanted email there and it will be removed from the phone as well.
That doesn't solve the problem on the phone, but it gets rid of the email which is your ultimate goal anyway.

To delete emails you just wipe from right to left on a particular email and you will see the delete button. Or you can you the trash icon on the bottom of the emails to delete it.

Why is there another cell # on my statement?

It doesn't match my current cell #...Not sure why.... Because that number is not mine... And I am not paying for someone else's services.
And also why it take about 10 emails and like 10 hrs to send 27 pics from cell via email to my desktop? Not sure why it took that long to send many emails via phone so I can download the pics... Because the phone would not allow me to download the pics via usb cord. Not sure why on that either...

You would need to contact Customer Support about the cell number on your statement; this is a customer-to-customer forum and we don't have access to anyone's accounts. Have you checked your on-line MyVerizon account to see if any changes have been made (assuming you are the Account Owner)?
I don't know why you couldn't transfer your photos via USB cord. If we knew which phone you have, we could offer suggestions.

Why is there a network name indented?

Hello,
Alright so there is the standard list of Wi-Fi networks available, except one of them is literally indented by at least one letter's width. Does this mean the network is somehow connected with mine? Perhaps a subnet? Or is it just that the name actually includes a space ahead of the first letter?

Consider yourself lucky (?)...I don't see my name ANYWHERE on the lock screen of ANY of my devices...
Have a look at the wallpaper being used on the device:
Settings/Wallpaper
Sounds like the name is contained on the wallpaper. Change the wallpaper and see if the name remains. There should be NO name on the lock screen of any iOS device unless the name resides on the wallpaper being used or the device is possibly jailbroken.

Why are there multiple keychain records for same email account?

I have noticed that it takes sometimes up to 45 seconds for Apple Mail to send (whoosh...) an email. Then I started getting an alert asking for my password intermittently.
I checked my KeyChain Access and note 5 records for this email account dating back to 2007 and while the password hasn't changed in all these years, I note the "Where" field is different in some of these records. So my uneducated hunch is Apple Mail is getting a little confused and having to go thru all 5 records insteads of just one.
As note multiple records for other email accounts and website logins I have.
1. Why is this happening?
2. Is it normal
3. Can I, should I, delete all but one for each item be it an email account or web login, etc.
or
Should I delete all 5 and let a brand new one be created for Keychain next time I send or get email for this particular email account?
I also see there is some info on keychain syncing. Does this have anything to do with my situation?

I'm a little distracted with Steve's passing. He will be missed to say the least
But if it isn't too disrepectful to reply at this time, I'm unclear with your advise because there are 5 items all for the same email account. A couple are duplications, and the others have slightly different "Where" info.
I can't imagine I need all 5 and wonder if I should delete 4 and keep the newest one?
All my email accounts have multiple entries.
Anyone know why this is happening and if it's OK to delete the oldest ones and keep just the newest?

Why is there a color shift in attached email images?

I'm new to Firefox. I'm using a Mac OS 10.6.8. When I attach a B&W image file in my email account, and I view what I've sent the color shifts to a cyan instead of remaining neutral B&W in the original image. I've also tried to attach it in another email account, with the same results. However, when I open the image in another browser it appears as the original B&W is. Why is this happening?

It could that a color profile is present that Firefox doesn't support.
You can modify gfx.color_management.enablev4* prefs on the about:config page and possibly enable ICC V4 support in Firefox.
Close and restart Firefox to make the changes effective.

How can I conceal my personal name when sending email out from my iCloud email account?

I prefer to keep my first and last name private when I send e-mail about for my iCloud account. In the body of an e-mail, if it's a personal correspondence and appropriate, I will THEN elect to provide my full name. But I don't want my first and last name appearing involuntarily in the header of my e-mail as it arrives in the recipients inbox.
I called tech support and spent 90 minutes on the phone on Sept. 23 and we did not manage to arrive at a solution. Revealing the first and last name connected to the account should always be an "elective" item. Privacy is paramount these days and not every e-mail you send out is solely for trusted friends and relatives. In age of Internet privacy woes, discretion should be the default and exposure of personal information the exception.

If you are concerned about your full name being associated with emails your send from iCloud, you may find the following articles helpful. If the concern is about the address itself (i.e. [email protected], if you happen to have an address like that), you are able to create an Alias address tied to your account. If that is not a concern, you can also change the Full Name associated with your current address from the same Preferences > Accounts menu:

Why is there no option to select all email as read?

I've had to reinstall my backed up iphone data 4 times and each time I have to manually select all my emails and mark them as read.
This is kind of ********, selecting all of your email and marking it or deleting it has been a feature on every mobile devise for over 5 years. Why isn't it an option on my Iphone. Why is apple trying to make me buy an app for this common task to get done!!!!

Because some habitual whiner may accidentally delete all email in an account's Inbox mailbox.
You have to do this because you are using an antiquated POP account type. No such problem with an Exchange or IMAP account.

Why is there a 30 day limit for email on the Playbook

Sorry this isn't really a support question but I was wondering if anyone knows why they maintained the maximum 30 day limit on email etc for the Playbook. I kinda understand the logic for a phone (although it would be nice to have the option of all my mail) but I use my playbook differently and really need all my mail not just the last 30 days.

Why can't I hover over a persons name and see address or pick "find mail" and see all eamils from that person anymore?

When hovering over a persons name in an email I receive it used to show the actual email address.
When right clicking on a persons name in an email I receive it used to show a drop-down list where I could choose "find email" and all email from that person would be displayed.

Firefox doesn't do email, it's a web browser.
If you are using Firefox to access your mail, you are using "web-mail". You need to seek support from your service provider or a forum for that service.

If i am the only user and owner of my macbook, then why are there 78 users in the directory editor?

Hi guys just wanted to know little bit about the open directory as my MacBook Pro has been playing up on and off at least a couple of years. I have been advised by Apple over the phone or as well as over the genius bar in trying to get my mac to behave. This normally solves whatever problem that has been happening at the time. "Great, job done!"... Not so much, as another problem eventually shows it's ugly pixelated face again and then we end up going round the Infinite loop ride one more time... And this ride ain't always free! I have forked out about £600 on it so far and it wasn't cheap in the beginning! Anyway I have just got off the ride and before I get punched by a plyst to get back on I would rather learn about the things I don't understand so hopefully I can resolve the matter without hair loss. So my main question so far is why are there 78 user names (most of which are computer related names, not all) are found in Directory Utility? I do not play games on my Mac it is mainly used for media such as iPhoto, iTunes, pages, mail and surfing the net. So which out these 78 users do I select as a server?

None. It's normal. Make no modifications.
It's not clear what trouble you are experiencing, or if anything is wrong at all. If your Mac is not behaving as you expect it should, describe what's wrong in as much detail as possible.
Include all relevant details regarding your MacBook Pro starting with which one of its three dozen models you have. Posting the results of EtreCheck will help with that. Read about it here.

when i click forget my skype name and put down my email instead, skype sent me an email to my email adress with a skype name token but not my skype name.

Why is there sounds when I turn my email back on from being off? In my sound settings I have check none.

Is there an easy way to place emails received on my iPad into a junk file like you can do on the iMac by using a junk icon to stop certain emails from reoccuring?

You would need to first set up a junk folder, once that is done, when you are previewing message there is an icon on top of a folder with an arrow inside it, tap on it, this is the move action, in the folder list that now appears tap on the junk folder.
