Why no Extensions folder or files?

So I was going to try the whine fix on this forum where you edit a file in your Extension folder. Problem is there is no Extension folder in my Library and when I do a search for the folder there are no files in the folder.
Anyone?

Managed to delete Bonjour64.msi
How did you do that, Arkir? Did you use the Windows Installer CleanUp utility to clear the BonJour installation configuration information? Or did you use some other process?

I'm novice in Extension Builder and may be my questions seems stupid...
I want to run a JSX for ID, located in a sub folder of my extension.
I use the "doscript()" method but I don't know how to refer to my ".jsx"
If I set a File variable what kind of path I have to specify? Absolute or not?
How can i get the folder of my extension?
File.applicationDirectory don't returns my extension folder.

There are two issues here.
Firstly, how to obtain the file path to your script, or any item under your extension folder.
File.applicationDirectory doesn't return your extension's directory, because extensions are loaded as sub-applications of a top-level "StageManager" application. And so File.applicationDirectory returns the StageManager directory rather than your extension's.
Instead you can use the following CSXSLibrary API to get the full path to an item in the extension directory:
var url:String = "app://" + CSXSInterface.getInstance().getSystemPath(SystemPath.APPLICATION).data + "myScript.jsx";

No Extensions folder in library?! No kext files?

Hi
Anyone know why i can't see/find an extensions folder on my system? 10.4.6, dual core 2.0, kept my system pretty clean... i did a custom install of tiger.
There's only ONE kext file on my system, and that's something to do with Roxio Toast.
Anyone know what's going on?
I need to delete a kext file off my system asap.

not sure why it didn't come up in spotlight though, must be as it's a admin folder
Unfortunately that's a feature, not an error. Spotlight does not search the folders Library or System. I quit using Spotlight 1 week after I installed and use FileBuddy instead.
TIP: do not change/move/delete anything in /Library and /System unless you know EXACTLY what you do This might render your system unfunctional.

Transferring photos and video from iPhone 5S camera roll to windows folder, some files corrupt. Why?

I back up all my photos and videos to my external hard drive every month or so in order to free up space in my phone.
Now some folders once are transferred in windows contain some videos with jpeg extension in the file name and some photos with .avi extension too, as seen on the picture below.. Also I try to move files around in the folder and they freeze the computer resulting in a windows desktop reset. Any clues on what am I doing wrong so I can protect all my files for good?

You can't transfer the photos and Videos into iTunes. You have to import them to your computer. It is a fairly easy process. This article explains it all for you.

How do I install a Thunderbird add-on for all users? Putting the XPI file into Extensions folder didn't work.

I'm trying to install Enigmail 1.8.2 for all users. I thought I read somewhere that you don't need to unpack the XPI file.
Whilst writing this, I did some experimenting and found a solution, but it's messy (see below). Is there an easier way?
Fresh install of Thunderbird 31.6 on Windows 7 x64. Have observed the following:
1. If I install the extension for one user via the Add-Ons GUI (from the marketplace, not from a local file), it does work. The Appdata\Roaming\Mozilla\Extensions folder is empty. Folder {847b3a00-7ab1-11d4-8f02-006008948af5} is created in Appdata\Roaming\Thunderbird\Profiles\xxxxxxxx.default\extensions\staged\ and moved from staged to extensions when TB is restarted.
2. If I download the XPI file from Enigmail site and copy it to Program Files(x86)\Mozilla Thunderbird\Extensions folder, then Thunderbird's Extensions screen says "You don't have any add-ons of this type installed".
3a. If I rename the xpi to zip (e.g. enigmail-1.8.2-tb+sm.xpi.zip) then I can open it and see that the contents are similar to what was created at point (1). If I unzip the contents, then Thunderbird doesn't recognise the add-on, unless I rename the folder to the GUID above (which could be found in install.rdf or chrome.manifest, once you know what you're looking for).
Presumably I could also have done a per-user install, copied the folder from the profile, removed the extension, then pasted the copy into the program folder. That would save looking up the GUID but is only a little less fiddly.
3b. After renaming the folder and restarting TB, it gives me a new tab "Install Add-on" which says "Another program on your computer would like to modify Thunderbird with the following add-on: ... Location: C:\Program Files (x86)". Once I allow the add-on, it is listed in Profiles\xxxxxxxx.default\extensions.ini.
Aside: Disabling the add-on simply removes the line from extensions.ini, so how does TB distinguish between an unapproved add-on and a disabled one? It seems to be in extensions.json.

Is Thunderbird already installed in the computers? If so, you could download the .xpi file and drag and drop it into the extensions window (after opening that) to install it in all the computers, following which you click the Install buttons when they become enabled, and you might have to restart Tbird afterwards.

This folder is probably treated as a program to run at startup.
So you will have to look at the places where such programs are referenced.
For instance, you may have a shortcut to that folder in your Start Menu > Startup.
Or it may be in the Registry.
Click on Start > Execute, the type msconfig and click OK.
This will show you in the Startup tab all the programs launched at startup.

Why does a downloaded epub file get the flv extension added to the filename?

I created an ePub file that works fine. I used the Creative Cloud version of inDesign on my MacBook Pro with OS 10.7.
I emailed to someone to view. The recipient was going to download the ePub to her Mac and sync with her iPad.
She was using Safari and gmail. She received the email with the attachment. When she clicked download in the email next to the attachment, it downloaded but added the .flv extension to the file.
With this extension, the file could not be added to the iTunes library. Removing the .flv so that the filename was restored to the original with the .epub extension, all worked just fine.
I set all .epub files to be opened by Adobe Digital Editions on my computer.
I replicated the same situation on my Mac with Safari and gmail. Then, I tried with my yahoo email account. Same situation, file downloads but gets .flv extension added. Guess I can't blame gmail.
Tried with Chrome and file downloaded with correct name, no extra extension.
Tried with Entourage and file save with .epub, no extra extension.
Have not yet tried this on a windows machine but will do so in a bit and report back with results.
How can I prevent the extra extension?

Just checked this on a Windows 8 laptop.
Went to gmail. Opened the message and downloaded the ePub file. It downloaded just exactly as expected. No change to the file name.
I zipped up a folder with the ePub file inside and tried that zip file. I emailed the zip file to my gmail account and then downloaded the zip file and unzipped it. The ePub file came through the process with no alteration to its name.
As long as I send the ePub inside a zip, I don't seem to have a problem.
I would still like to know how to prevent the change in name when I email just the ePub file, though.

Why do I get pdf files with an underscore in the extension ( ._pdf) and how do I open them when they are email attachemnts, becuase it wont let me rename it or save it as any other version.

Not sure. What email are you using? Gmail (or web based email) by chance?
Definitely not a Reader issue if you can see the underscore in your email.
You can try saving it as is then try renaming it using Windows Explorer to see if that works.

Here I did a Get info on Civ3, highlighted the icon, did CMD+c to copy it...
Then in the Get Info window for the Games folder, highlighted the generic folder icon & did CMD+v to paste Civ3 in it...

I have installed Adobe packages and cannot find the Acrobat extension folder please advise how can I get these applications to load onto my computer?

I have installed Adobe Creative Cloud for teams CC Packages which says that Acrobat XI Pro is installed. Your support page says it does not install Acrobat and I have to look in the Extensions folder for an MSI file. Also I now administer the teams and have accepted the invitation to I received to be a team member and download the apps. The admin page shows that I have been sent an invitation but does not show my account as "ACtive" unlike my other team members. I tried to use the link in the invite to accept it become active but the link displayed an error saying I had already accepted the invite... why is no account not active?
Finally what other product downloads in Creative Cloud do not actually download as part of the Creative cloud Packager for downloading the apps? e.g. acrobat and what else?

I download my friend's site and ALL the pages are in a folder with the file name index.php ... WHY?
Example;
Name of folder; gallery
Inside this folder, a file with the name index.php
Name of folder; contact
Inside this folder, a file with the name index.php
It has an "includes" folder with files for ;
header.php, footer.php, content.php and functions.php
and so on.
Now, this site has ONLY 7 pages, it's not like it's a monster site, so
what is the purpose of using php in every single page?
I have to tell you that my friend has a program call CKeditor and CKfinder to
edited her website.
Not sure if this is the reason why this site has been coded all of it with php files.

The reason for using php extension or not has absolutely nothing to do with the size of the site. If the site uses dynamic pages, then the page need a dynamic page extension. Even sites without dynamic pages often use .php in anticipation of using them so the file names won't need to be changed down the road.
Now, if your question is more about why they created separate directories for each page, it's probably so the url's can be accessed without including the file extension, Ex
example.com/contact
instead of
example.com/contact.php

Where is my extension folder?

I am having trouble with adding packages like javax.sql and javax.naming. From what have read, these packages should go into my extension directory but the compiler still complains when I reference a class from any optional package outside of jdk1.3. I am aware that jdk1.4 includes both of these packages but I really want to understand why placing them in the extension folder is not working?
I have a program that prints out system/java info. that includes the following line:

which prints out the following:

I added an ext folder within lib and added my packages...which didn't work.

I'm a little unsure of what you are trying to add and the error message that you are getting. I assume that you are talking about a .class file or jar file when you say package and the error message that you get says that something is not found.
lib\ext is a good place to put such files but it is not the only place to put them. You may put them almost anywhere. In the lib folder for instance, or outside of the jdk folder if you like. What you need to do is to set your CLASSPATH to point to the folder where you put them. By putting them in the lib folder, you avoid having to modify your CLASSPATH.

Batch rename won't keep the extension on some files only

I have all my shrunk (resized to smaller for web) files in a sub folder. I got the idea here somewhere to rename such files by adding " _sm " this way being able to distinguish from the two when doing a search. In batch renaming something strange happened:some files did not keep their extension. How could this be and why? There was also no undo (Why?) so i decided to rename them once again this time replacing the "_sm" with ".jpg" in order to fool Bridge and place the files back to their original names and extensions.
Anyhow is there a reason why it would not keep the extension on some files while keep it on others? Since it's doing this in batch, therefore processing many files at once there's gotta be a reason why it would not treat all files as equals and I'm thinking that perhaps it has something to do with how I name my files.

If you select the opion to preserve the previous file name when batch renaming in Bridge then it's easy to revert… The old name will be stored in the files meta data…
If you have renamed the files again then I think this will have been overwritten… I think the property is name string and NOT array of name strings…

What's your current Extension Manager version (6.0.X or 7.0.X or ...)? What's your OS (Windows 7 or Mac)?
If you are using Extension Manager CS6, the simplest way is to delete the EM installation folder manually, then download the latest full installer from http://www.adobe.com/exchange/em_download/em6_download.html and install it, then you will have the latest update.
For Extension Manager CC, please go to "C:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\Adobe\Installers" (Windows 7) or "/Library/Logs/Adobe/Installers" (Mac) and send the installer log file (The file name is something like "Adobe Extension Manager CC 7.1.1 12-16-2013.log.gz") to [email protected] so that we can check it.

I am not attempting to install windows 8? at all so why this is coming up is beyond me I am using Win7 64 Pro and am quite happy with that version.
Is all of this just some attempt at someone to install windows 8 on my system through the comcast internet system?
