Why resultset in memory?

hi
I am going to ask a stupid question here ..........
(if my memory saves me) i am giving something that i came to know.As per my knowledge,10g and 9i does not contain any results of pl/sql code in shared pool.why 11gR1 containing it in sga?how 11g evaluating that which pl/sql code and result to store and which one not to?
thx in advnc
regards

Pre-11g we would define a Materialized View to hold aggregates.
Now, if the aggregate is to be only a single row or a small set of rows, a RESULT_CACHE could be used.
An example for a use for an MV would be
sum(order_quantity) group by customer_id -- this would be very many rows if the org has very many customers.
However, if there are only 5 customers (but still with very many orders !), then the result set could be a RESULT_CACHE if all queries are always for all customers together. (a query for a single customer can use an MV but not RESULT_CACHE of 5 customer aggregate).
An example for a RESULT_CACHE would be
sum(basic_salary) for all employees
Of course, the query defining the RESULT_CACHE must match the query being used frequently -- else the RESULT_CACHE wouldn't be reused.

  • Why is the memory capacity of a digital camera's memory card relevant?

    Hi All,
I'm new to all this . I have a question "Why is the memory capcity of a digital camera's memory card relevant?"
    Thanks
    Maggie

Why is the memory capcity of a digital camera's memory card relevant?
    It is not to Photoshop.
But to the photographer it is extremely relevant.  It determines how many images (influenced by "quality") your camera can hold before running out of room to store pictures. A larger memory capacity for your camera will allow you to take and store more and/or higher quality images.
("Quality" in this case is determined by  image size- the number of pixels making up the image in your camera and image "compression" -  how much JPG formatting will effect your image.)
    (attempted analogy coming... watch out!)
Think of the camera memory card as a linen closet to store down pillows. A small closet you can store 10 pillows on a shelf. Double the size of the closet and you can store 20 down pillows.
You also have the choice to stuff the down pillows in small sacks, allowing you to store even more pillows in the closet. The problem is after cramming the down pillows into the small container, they come out battered and not as nice as they were before storage.
    Linen Closet = Memory Card
    Down Pillows = images
Small sacks to stuff pillows into = JPG compression.
(and to add this this questionable analogy... the better down pillows have more feathers, and take up more room in the linen closet)
    Feathers = pixels

  • Why is actual memory less than specifi

    Hello
I own a Creative Muvo TX FM (256MB) and I was just wondering why the actual memory is less than 256MB. For instance I see this in other players and in my own I have only 243.5MB.
Also, is changing the format from FAT to FAT32 going to change this "practical amount"?
Thanks in advance for you help/advice!
    Jacob

Also, remember that when you are looking at actual space on the player, in the "industry", a mega-byte (MB) is ,000 kilo-bytes (KB) and not ,024.
And yes, the operating system is going to also chew some space.

  • Why is wired memory less than what's used?

why is wired memory less than what's used?

A whole lot of the stuff you use can safely be paged out and back again with impunity. Wired memory is memory that cannot be paged out to Disk.

  • I'm currently having trouble understanding why my Inactive Memory (Displayed in Activity Manager) is running at such a high rate.

I'm using Quicktime Player to export movies. I'm just bothered by the fact that is says "Inactive" rather than "Active". Can someone please explain to me why I have such low Free Memory?
    Computer Specifications:
    iMac i7 3.4Ghz
    RAM: 16GB DDR3
    1TB HDD
    AMD Radeon 6970m 1GB

Inactive Memory is memory which has been allocated  to applications which were previously, but no longer, using it. It remains available to them on a "first call" basis. In theory, it should be readily available to other applications on demand, but in practice it doesn't seem to work this way.
Looking at Page outs and Swap used down at the bottom -- and I won't go into any details right now -- it looks like you are low on RAM, but maybe not critically, and could use more. Either that or run fewer memory intensive applications concurrently.
One (little known) way to regain some of that Inactive memory to Free memory, which right now on your system is quite low and will end up causing your Mac to run sluggishly or freeze it completely, is to open Disk Utility in Utilities and run repair Permissions. Another way is to simply restart. If you want to read more on memory

  • Why is my memory full when i have only used half of it?

Hi all, i have a 2012 MBA 120GB, i am new to mac books but have had all the other apple products for a long time.
my MBA is constantly telling me "memory full" and other messages like that. i have looked at "about this mac" and it displays i have 60gb of music, photos, apps etc, and the other 60gb is "other", and therer is no memory left.
i have deleted all of my emails in all boxes to see if this is it, and it isnt. i dont have any back ups, for our iphones and itunes at all, and i havent set up time machine either. i am at a total loss as to why this could be.
i have avoided using it latley because i cant put anymore photos or music on to it. the only thing that i have done to it since i have had it is install Mountain lion, and microsoft office for mac.
i have looked around for the answer to this and have come up with nothing, i'm no expert at all with a mac, i have looked at installing daisydisk or something like that, but i dont have enough memory to install it!! so if anyone has a step by step guide as to how to sort this out i would be REALLY grateful!!

    anyone?

  • Performance rating under Vista--why is my memory given a lower rating?

I've been wondering about the Performance rating that Vista generates. My rig rates 5.9 on everything, except Memory where it gets 5.0 for no clear reason. I have 8GB of RAM, all of which Vista seems to recognize, so I don't understand why it downgrades the rating.
    Anyone know how this works?
    Thanks.

Set up another partition and install Windows 7 RC now or next month. It won't expire until 4-6 months AFTER Windows 7 has shipped. And it really runs better than even Vista x64 Ultimate SP2 (RC). Night and day, there things in Vista which just aren't right and still buggy.
You wanted to know why your score for memory was what it is, and giving what I think is why. As for games, even CS4 from Adobe is hampered by Nehalem's Hyper-threading and multicore. But developers love the power and how much faster they can compile, test, and run.
I agree it doesn't make sense to buy something now, wait for window for free or almost free upgrade.

  • Why has my memory shrunk since updating software??????

I have just updated the software on my mini ipod and tried to update with a couple of tracks that i downloaded but ipod stated that there was not enough memory although it said that i was only upto 3.7gb of memory used. I have deleted 3 albums that i dont listen to and this was still not enough to fit 3 tracks onto ipod. I have since cleared my ipod and when totally empty it states that i only have 3.7gb available space whereas before it was updated it showed 3.9gb available space. Please help!!!!!!!

I probably am mistaken, but i am still confused as to why i have had to delete 3 albums off my ipod just to get 4 songs on it that i purchased from itunes since the software update. I have had to let itunes choose a selection of songs to add to ipod since update whereas before i could fit everything on!

  • Why is my memory used so high?

I bought a new macbook air with 8gb of rat and 512gb HD and 1.4 GHz Intel Core i5. For some reason my Memory Used is super high even though I barely have anything open. It's been running pretty slow. Even when I hit the F3 button to view all my pages, it's super laggy. Any idea?

Quit Chrome and try using Safari. Why do you think it is running slow?
    Pre-Mavericks
Open Activity Monitor in the Utilities folder.  Select All Processes from the Processes dropdown menu.  Click twice on the CPU% column header to display in descending order.  If you find a process using a large amount of CPU time (>=70,) then select the process and click on the Quit icon in the toolbar.  Click on the Force Quit button to kill the process.  See if that helps.  Be sure to note the name of the runaway process so you can track down the cause of the problem.
    Mavericks and later
Open Activity Monitor in the Utilities folder.  Select All Processes from the View menu.  Click on the CPU tab in the toolbar. • Why resultset is interface

    Hi all,
In JDBC, statement, Resultset, CallableStatement, PreparedStatement interfaces there.
My question is, why they are interfaces but not classes.
If anybody knows, pl. answer to my question.
    Thanx and regrads,
    srinivas

They are interfaces because they need to be implemented differently (possibly) by each creator of a JDBC driver. The class that does the work for a PreparedStatement in the Sun ODBC-JDBC driver is not the same one that does the work for a PreparedStatement for the Oracle thin client driver.

  • Why Web browser memory full in N95

I just don't understand why the web browser always showed 'memory full please close some application'. Even if I do not open any application and it still comes up this message. Now I use opera which work fine but sometimes I may still need to use the web browser to open certain webpage. Anybody can help to fix this?

The inbuilt web browser application found in series 60 3rd edition very powerful at the same time a memory pig. The N95 is comes with many inbuilt ROM applications which are continuously eating ram, same to say other 3rd editions when they are loaded. I have to continue web app by cleaning CACHE time to time. OS 9.5 is significant because it indicates a huge change in RAM distribution. eNand chips and XIP RAM are still to come.

  • Why is my memory so full?

I just recently got this new MacBook Air with 120GB storage but it says that I only have 40 GB left when I certainly have not downloaded 80GB to the hardrive. Stranger still it says i have 370GB full of Applications....? Can anyone tell me why this is and how to fix it? Im not sure where the 500+MB of Videos come from either, the other figures seem to be correct. Thanks.

thats not memory (RAM) , but SSD or hard disk storage.
See here for answer about the OTHER which is taking up space:
    http://pondini.org/TM/30.html
    and here:
    http://pondini.org/OSX/DiskSpace.html
See Kappys excellent note on the rest of “other” files taking up your space:
What is "Other" and What Can I Do About It?
Its not applications, its being reported incorrectly.
You need to reindex your system.
    http://support.apple.com/kb/ht2409
    also SMC reset your system.
    SMC reset
    Shut down the computer.
Plug in the MagSafe power adapter to a power source, connecting it to the Mac if its not already connected.
On the built-in keyboard, press the (left side) Shift-Control-Option keys and the power button at the same time.
Release all the keys and the power button at the same time.
Press the power button to turn on the computer.
Note: The LED on the MagSafe power adapter may change states or temporarily turn off when you reset the SMC.

  • Why a low memory error when the iPhone 4 still has plenty of storage?

I will need to read up on this before I have more discussions. I better make this short if you don't mind one more inquiry. I work almost soley from my phone. I have a store on the Internet. My husband however uses his phone very little but his is the one saying low memory and some areas he has way more data and we can't figure it out. I have 4000 and more emails he has 300 but he has over 300mb more in use. Same with home screen, security, messaging service. His google browser also three times more data than mine and I'm sure my phone has became a part of my hand cause I am always working and I never had low memory and I would think I'd have way more data. He has 7 apps I have 47. Any ideas why. Could someone have hacked his phone

  • Equium A110-276 - why Shared Graphics Memory is not set to max 128 MB?

I have an Equium A110-276 and the maximum memory of the graphics is 128MB...
Now, when I bought this notebook, it says that the graphics memory is 128MB which is correct.
So I can play high graphics games and applications.
After 9 months, the shared memory for the graphics became 64MB! What the?!
Now when I play and use the applications which need 128MB, they're notifying me that my graphics memory is 64MB which is low and the applications may become slow.
    Anyone had this problem?
I tried contacting Toshiba and they said that I need to put more RAM, I tried to call 4 times and they always say the same thing... but I already have 1024MB of RAM which is enough... My problem is why the motherboard or the BIOS is not sharing up to 128MB of RAM for the graphics...

    Hi
The Equium A110-276 supports a Intel 945GM graphic chip!!!!
The Intel graphic cards assign the shared memory automatically!!! The graphic driver controls the memory and you cannot set the amount manually!!!
If the application needs more graphic memory then the driver will assign and share the memory automatically!
    Dont worry, everything looks ok!
