Why the new playbook 2.0 os doesn't support asian languages again? so stupid!
i found the new 2.0 os is not supporting any of the asian languages such as chinese, japanese text again... so stupid, what rim has in mind for marketing direction?
If I read Neal Gafters article right, the migration compatibilty is this:
Point 4 would have been possible, but then every core class that is generic now, would have to be a new class with the same functionality.
So when you used to use new ArrayList(), if you want to use generics you would have to use new GenericArrayList<String>();.
It is a different class from ArrayList and which would be reified (sp?) to a new StringArrayList() (generated) class by the compiler.
So if you have a library with a method which used to except a List as parameter, your new generic version of the library would now require a GenericList insetad. Someone who uses your library cannot just drop in your new version without changing all his Lists to GenericLists.
With erasure he can, but gets type safety warning instead, fixable by only adding the generic type to his lists (new ArrayList() to new ArrayList<String>()).

I want it nessecary.I actually published an interactive Arabic textbook with iBooks Author - there were a lot of annoying formatting bugs, and more of it was in english than Arabic, as it was for beginners. I submitted it to see how much interest there was for doing more in Arabic, but I haven't had much demand so far.

Why can't I open and retrieve my files from iPhoto and my Address Book after importing the files from my Power Mac G5 to my new Mac Pro? I get a warning that says the new OS on my Pro doesn't open files from a Power Mac. Any idea how I can fix this?
For your addressbook, export the files to vCard on the PowerMac, then bring them over to your Mac Pro. For your iPhoto, copy the Users -> yourname -> Pictures folder to your Desktop on the Mac Pro, and open iPhoto on the Mac Pro holding the command and option keys. Select the library file from that Pictures folder and open it. It should import all the pictures into iPhoto as part of the rebuild process. My 4th generation shuffle will not play podcasts, even though they show as loaded on the legend on the left on the itunes site. The shuffle is set to play everything in order. The type on the content is gray, thats strange. And why the new annoying content format?

Can't open the new playbook, it's very hot!
This morning I received the new playbook I bought for a friend. When I update it(it's downloading 500Mb something), it's said when installing I should keep it charging. Ok, I charged it. But just after it updates, I touch the screen and there is something jumpt out sayin: it will restart soon. Then I wait it for restarting.. But it never restart. It's dead. And it's very hot on back. I tried to press the power button, it has no reaction. I'm so worried. So I plug it off and put it back to the original box. I bought this from Amazon on $242.5. It's so bad! Does any one can help me?

First I would like you to do a Back Up of your PlayBook using your computer and BlackBerry Desktop Software.
This can be downloaded for free from http://us.blackberry.com/apps-software/desktop/
After the Back Up is complete I need you to unplug your PlayBook and then push and hold down the Power Button until the unit Force Powers Off.
Now, while Desktop Software is still open on your computer and the PlayBook Powered Off, Connect the PlayBook to your computer.
You should see and error screen from Desktop Software pop up that has the options to Retry, Update, or Cancel.
QUICKLY choose the Update option.
This will erase all the information off of your PlayBook and Re-Write the Software back onto it. Once it's complete your PlayBook will need to go back through the setup wizard, and you can then perform a restore using Desktop Software to return your information. The only thing that won't come back after the restore are the apps that you downloaded from App World but they can be easily Re-Installed using the My World feature in App World.

Why the new iPad still has no Flash
I wonder why the new iPad still has no flash. I love to take photos with my iPhones and iPads, sometimes a flash could be handy when it's dark.
I know it could be another nightmare for the Apple case makers.Apple has never said why, and rarely does explain decisions like that... my guess is that it would have taken space and power away from something else, it's a pretty tightly-packed product. :-)

After force restart also same issue (still the download status is showing the same and again getting stuck) for 4-5 times and then it asks for to clear all the data. After that it is working fine. Since installing IOS7.0.2 my iPad keeps rebooting itself every few minutes. I can't do anything with it and cannot download the new IOS7.2 because it doesn't run long enough to accomplish the download. What can I do?
Try a Restart.
Press and hold the Sleep/Wake button for a few seconds until the red "slide to power off" slider appears, and then slide the slider. Press and hold the Sleep/Wake button until the Apple logo appears.
Resetting your settings
You can also try resetting all settings. Settings>General>Reset>Reset All Settings. You will have to enter all of your device settings again.... All of the settings in the settings app will have to be re-entered. You won't lose any data, but it takes time to enter all of the settings again.
Resetting your device
Press and hold the Sleep/Wake button and the Home button together for at least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears. Apple recommends this only if you are unable to restart it.
Or if this doesn't work and nobody else on the blog doesn't have a better idea you can contact Apple.

Does anyone maybe know why the new Macbook pros don't have iWeb and how i can install it. My Macbook already came with the iLife thing, but it seems to only have iMovie, iPhoto and Garage Band. is there any way that i can install iWeb?
Apple discontinued iWeb. That's the case for over a year now.
Topics in this forum will tell you that in order to install iWeb you have to find a copy at eBay, Amazon and similar places.

How do I transfer 30 GB of stuff, mostly text documents, bookmarks and a few hundred photos from a MacBook model 1,1 in the black case, purchased in (2007?) running Leopard 10.5.8 with a 667 bus, 2 GB, 256 GB to a MBP 13" Retina running Yosemite 10.10.1? Using Migrate is out. Discovered after I bought it that the Seagate Plus Backup for Mac does not work with 10.5.8. OnetoOne recommends backing up my data before I do that, which seems like a good idea. Have a 801.11 n Time Capsule that also isn't working so that is not presently an option. Thank you.
The Seagate backup drive I bought doesn't support 10.5.8
The only reason I can see for that is it's formatted NTFS, which would likely be Read Only in 10.5.x, if you can reformat it MacOS extended, which would erase everything on it now, then that should work for your purposes. -

I believe there are at least three reasons:
- To ask a question / get an answer
- For discussion
- For community
The new format focuses on the question/answer format only. It discourages discussion and destroys community.
Community is what makes Apple great. When someone becomes an Apple user they join a community.
The old Apple Discussions was a place for discussions, as well as for question/answer. The community joined together to help, to answer questions. It was a team effort.
The new format makes Apple Discussions like many other discussions, not a discussion, but a question/answer depot. Two people can be helpful, one can give the answer. End of discussion. End of community.
The old format encouraged partnership, the building of a helpful community.
The new format is individualistic: Question - answer - who's next?
Think about other help forums you have posted in. They are question/answer based. Once you have the answer to your question, do you go back? Rarely.
Why do the "experts," the ones with answers, come to the Apple Discussions? To help people, and also for community. The new format discourages discussion. With community gone, people will leave and look for community elsewhere. Then who will answer the questions?
