WIFI: Association times with ndiswrapper 7 mins

Hi, I need some help with these .
I'm experiencing a wireless association problem since I installed ndiswrapper.
Sometimes it associates to the router inmediatly but another times take up to 7 minutes (or more).
My card is a Broadcom 4310 USB (inside a Dell Insipiron 1525)
My router is really near (less than 1 meter)
With Windows Vista (preinstalled ¬_¬) connects inmediatly. I also tried the propietary Broadcom driver "wl" and it connects inmediatly too. (But the connection is really bad when the signal is not at 100%)
I tried by using the recently released ndiswrapper 1.53 but I get the same results.
I'm using netcfg2 2.0.6
My kernel is 2.6.25.10 (x86)
The Windows drivers are from the Dell website for my wireless card (x86 version).
When the connection is finally established, the navigation is OK
Here is the lspci output:

(then it stops and I can ping the router and browse the web)
(( when the association messages are displayed without stopping I can't ping the router))
If I forgot some relevant information, please tell me.
UPDATE:
It seems to be related to WPA/WPA2/TKIP/AES router configuration. After reinstalling the ndiswrapper drivers (while testing another drivers) and setting the router configuration to WPA2 Mixed ( WPA+TKIP + WPA2+AES ) the issue seems to be solved (association takes less than 20/30 secs) , but it needs more testing.

If I could direct your attention to the posts at the top of this section again, you will see one entitled, "64bit drivers are here!"
A company named Aceeca has kindly provided drivers that re-enable USB hotsync with Win7. Instructions are in the thread.
(BTW, I wrote that instructional thread about WiFi Hotsync. The thread clearly states you need the IP address of your computer, and how to find it. I also suggested setting static IP's for both your TX and PC to make the process reliable. Time Warner has no idea how your network is set up!)
Good luck!

why do i have to sign in to my wifi every time i turn ipad mini on

Do #5.
Some things to try first:
1. Turn Off your iPad. Then turn Off (disconnect power cord for 30 seconds or longer) the wireless router & then back On. Now boot your iPad. Hopefully it will see the WiFi.
2. Go to Settings>Wi-Fi and turn Off. Then while at Settings>Wi-Fi, turn back On and chose a Network.
3. Change the channel on your wireless router (Auto or Channel 6 is best). Instructions at http://macintoshhowto.com/advanced/how-to-get-a-good-range-on-your-wireless-netw ork.html
4. Go into your router security settings and change from WEP to WPA with AES.
5. Renew IP Address: (especially if you are droping internet connection)
• Launch Settings app
• Tap on Wi-Fi
• Tap on the blue arrow of the Wi-Fi network that you connect to from the list
• In the window that opens, tap on the Renew Lease button

Note - When troubleshooting wifi connection problems, don't hold your iPad by hand. There have been a few reports that holding the iPad by hand, seems to attenuate the wifi signal.

Umm, incorrect. My new ipad retina wifi, and my wifes mini wifi both have a phyone number associated with them, in facetime and imessage. Again, anyone know how to change the number phone number associated with a ipad wifi only, for facetime and imessage apps?
Uhmm, no, the number does not belong to the iPad. It belongs to the iPhone the Apple Id used on the iPad is associated with.
If you need to change that number, then you need a different Apple ID that is associated with a different iPhone number. Note, the number must belong to an iPhone with an Apple ID, otherwise it won't work.
The iPad itself has no number associated to it. It is linked to an Apple ID which in turn is linked to an iPhone that has a number.

my text messages go to everyone except to my daughters. she has an iphone but with bell and mine is with rogers. she receives them when she is at home or say at chapters/tim hortons where they have wifi, but if she is walking somewhere or at somewhere without wifi, it isn't working? i don't understand. she has a text plan. her phone is an iphone 4s can anybody assist me if you know what the problem may be? thanks so much.

Have her go to Settings>Cellular and make sure Cellular Data is turned to On. If she's having trouble with regular sms messages, check her carrier to be sure her messaging plan is properly provisioned.

• Wifi concerns replacing eMac with new mac mini

I have an eMac (PPC) which is currently maxed out at 10.5.8. I was thinking of upgrading to a mac mini. My only concern is that I currently have an old mac mini (late 2006) and it's ability to use wifi with its internal airport interface is severely limited. The only placment I have found this mac mini to reliably work in is if the mac mini and the wifi router (belkin) are located in the same room. The eMac I'm thinking about replacing is on a different floor than the router it's airport interface just works, as do all of our laptops. I understand that some the wifi problems with this mac mini might have to do with the antenna placement in its chassis. So my question is has Apple improved the reliability of the airport interface in the mac mini ?

The router is really NOT the issue as far as I can tell. Laptops situated right next to the mac mini have no problem getting and maintaining a connection. The eMac with a much older airport card and situated on the same floor as the mac mini, maintains its connection as well. The late 2006 mac mini initially starts off with a good connection but within 10-20 minutes after startup, the connection goes bad, and won't return no matter how many times one reboots. If I shutdown the mac mini and restart it after an hour or so, the connection becomes solid again for about 10-20 minutes. Interestingly, when the mac mini is in the same room as the router, the connection starts out solid and stays solid.
My concern, from what I can tell, is that the basic chassis design of the new mac minis don't appear to be that much different in concept than my late 2006 mac mini, except for missing the CD R/W drive and being more compact. Is there an inherent design flaw in the mac mini (older and current versions) that degrades wifi connectivity in cases where the mac mini is not within line of site of the router?

• How do I transfer my MacBook Air to my wife so she can sync her iTunes account and other settings with her iPad Mini?

How do I transfer my MacBook Air to my wife so she can sync her iTunes account and other settings with her iPad Mini?

You can change the account shortname to whatever you wish to use.
As you can see from my example above. Once you click on the Create User button a new account will be created.
She will need to get her own Apple ID setup so when she starts with iTunes she can open her own iTunes account unless you both want to share the use of the same Apple ID. This can create a bit of confusion if you have your own iPads or iPhones or iPods. As you have discovered it's pretty much one iDevice with one Apple ID.
As for the iTunes library that becomes a more complicated issue.

• Wifi on Surface Pro - installed with ndiswrapper but not working

Hi there guys.
I have installed Arch on a Surface Pro and most things work well.
The biggest problem so far is wifi - it comes with a 88w8797 Marvell Avastar chipset. I managed to find the drivers and used ndiswrapper to install them.
$ ndiswrapper -l
mwlu97w8 : driver installed
device (1286:2043) present (alternate driver: mwifiex_usb)
The ndiswrapper help page says that one should get rid of alternate drivers before enabling ndiswrapper but I have no clue where to start - that seems to be a kernel loaded module (link) but it really doesn't do much apparently.
I did 'modprobe ndiswrapper' but as you can see below, nothing seems to be really happening
# iwconfig
enp0s20u2u3 no wireless extensions.
lo no wireless extensions.
dmesg returns this on ndiswrapper
$ dmesg | grep ndiswrapper
[ 2.996565] ndiswrapper version 1.58 loaded (smp=yes, preempt=yes)
[ 4.230024] usbcore: registered new interface driver ndiswrapper
The gnome network manager, just like iwconfig, shows no able wireless.
I'm at a loss on what to do, any help is greatly appreciatted

The blacklisting was a good call as I had completely forgot to do so. Made a /etc/modprobe.d/blacklist.conf with 'install mwifiex_usb /bin/false' - nothing changed though, the wireless network still won't show.

• How to restore Time Machine backup (2011 mini with Snow)?

I have a Mini 2011 running with Snow Leopard, and it runs perfect and stable, but when I apply the latest security update, it stops working.
It will boot into an alternating light and medium blue screen.
To fix it I want to do a full system restore from Time Machine. I have used this function before, with ease and succes, but I cannot replicate it.
Problem: the Mini has no DVD drive.
Last time, I used a Mini 2009 with the 2011 attached as Target Disk drive. If I try that now, the restore programs says the backup is not compatible with the Mini 2009 (which is weird, as the Mini was able to boot from the install before!)
How do I put back my backup? Is there a direct way to do it by pulling the program from the DVD to the 2009 mini? Third party solution?
What can cause this non-upgradability of the system? Basically it is just a Mini 2009 full install from the 10.6.3 Upgrade disk with some machine-info files and 2 Ati kexts from Lion added.

I'm trying to use my iPad mini for the first time with a previous apple ID and password but it says "iTunes is not working try again"...it allowed me to download an app on my iPhone using the same apple ID & password but all my apps are in "Waiting Status" on my iPad mini because it says "iTunes is not working"...PLEASE HELP ME NOW!!!

Previous user installed iOS 7 beta on that iPhone.
Take it back and get your money returned. You
are running into a new security feature. Whoever owns
the ID that it is asking for is the only person who can
remove the security. That iPhone is worthless to you.

• Photoshop Elements 11 installed on Mac Mini OS X 10.9.5. Application running successfully on bot main user and administrative accounts for considerable time with no warning messages. When established a new user account on same computer and try to call up

Photoshop Elements 11 installed on Mac Mini OS X 10.9.5. Application running successfully on bot main user and administrative accounts for considerable time with no warning messages. When established a new user account on same computer and try to call up elements receive message “Some ot the application components are missing from the Application directory. Please reinstall the application.” How do I correct this problem without disturbing application in main user account?

Brooks lansing if you create a new Administrator account does the same issue occur? If so then it is likely that there is a file permission failure and file permissions have been set for the existing Users instead of the groups they belong to.
Have you removed and reinstalled Photoshop Elements 11? This may reset the file permissions to the correct state to allow it to work under new accounts.

• Having problems with ipad mini and Siri. Works sporadically, will work once and then the second time not. Worked all the time with the original Mailbox app. Then started doing the same thing when I installed the new update so wondering if it is software?

• My wife is very color deficient and has a hard time with the font colors in call log. Any way to change and does Apple have plans to correct?

My wife is color deficient and has a hard time with the font colors in the phone log and messaging. Is there any way to change color or background and does Apple have plans to correct this?

There are some minor settings in Accessibility that you can look at, however it really isn't much for color changing. As far as what Apple might have in mind, we are not Apple here, we are users like you. It is against the terms of service to speculate what Apple might have in mind.
