Wifi network printing using Canon Pixma MP600R

Hi, we've just bought the MP600R printer to use as a wifi network printer for three macs. An emac, an ibook and a macbook. All the computers are running different versions of the Mac OS from 10.3 through to Leopard (housekeeping!)
Anyway we've read all the troubles with Leopard so are prepared for the problems but the other probem we've encountered is that the first computer connected perfectly well (it has a 10 x 4 operating system) but since then none of the others will communicate with the printer.
Is this something to do with registering mac address with the printer? Has anyone set up more than one mac attached to the MP600R before? Any suggestions gratefully received. Life is too short to be this puzzled. best Livia

Hello Livia,
I have an MP600R that is being connected to wirelessly via 10.4, 10.5 and XP.
The first step with the configuration is choosing the wireless network the MP600R will connect to. The second step is setting the ip address; either static - which means you enter the numbers, or dynamic -which means the wireless router sets the address. Both of these functions have to be done when the printer is connected to the computers USB port.
Once the printer is connected to the wireless network, then on the Mac's you use the More Printers > Canon IJ Network setting to find the printer and print to it. When you browse the printer will be displayed with its MAC address in brackets.
For those that are not able to connect to the printer, you may find that they are using different ip address to the Tiger Mac and MP600R. Check your network settings on all machines to ensure they are using the same address subnet (typically the first three sets of numbers in the address).
If the addresses are on the same subnet, then there may be something wrong with the driver software. When you go to add the printer, do you see the MP600R after selecting More Printers > Canon IJ Network?

  • Wireless printing - Canon Pixma MP600R

    Hi there
I recently bought a Canon Pixma MP 600R printer with WiFi so that it wasn't tied to my iMac. The setup seems to run well and I can print test pages such as head alignment. However when I try to print from an application (Safari, Word, Excel) I get an error 300 printer not connected.
When I look through the Printers through Printer Utility I see it as a wireless printer, can print the test pages and the wireless details (WEP password, Router name etc are correct). However when I go through system preferences/Print & Fax it shows up as printer location 'Directly attaced by USB', which is not true.
The only time it was attached by USB was the first installation, which it was required. I can't seem to change this option and have tried re-installing the drivers from the Canon website.
    Anyone got any ideas?
    Thanks
    David

And here is the full email from Canon support:
    Dear Customer,
Thank you for your recent enquiry regarding your Canon product.
Intel Macs do not work well with the original driver release and we have released udpated software which does fully support Intel Macs and confirmed to be probelm free from Mac OS 10.4.6 to 10.4.10.
Latest drivers / software can be downloaded from the following link by clicking driver downloads:
    http://software.canon-europe.com/products/0010397.asp
Reset the printer by holding down the resume button until the power light has blinked 10 time. The first time the light just goes off after this the power light will blink. This will reset the wireless configuration on the printer.
**We suggest following this procedure to remove the current driver set and installing the latest.**
** Read note at bottom first.
    - Go to Applications > Utilities and double click the Printer Setup Utility.
    - In the Printer List select all registered Canon printers and then click delete.
    - Go to Macintosh HD > Library > Printers. Choose the Canon folder and move it to the Trash > Empty Trash.
    - Disconnect the printer > Reboot Mac
As a bear minimum you will need to download the following files from the website:
    1 - MP600R Printer Driver Ver. 5.7.2 (Mac OS X)
    2 - MP600R Scanner Driver Ver. 12.11.0 (Mac OS X)
    3 - MP Navigator Ver. 3.0.1 (Mac OS X)
4 - IJ Network Tool Ver. 2.20 (Mac OS X)
Once the pritner has been through re-initialisation confirm the network details that your WiFi network is using. You will need to take down the following:
    IP address range used
    Subnet Mask
    Default Gateway
    SSID (case sensitive)
Encryption key / type (case sensitive)
Please download and install in the order listed above and do not connect the printer using USB until you have installed the drivers (stage 2).
    ** Try adding printer first**
Once you have followed through the wizard for the wireless setup which will appear once the IJ Network Utility is installed you need to add the network printer.
This is done by going to Applications > Utilities and double click the Printer Setup Utility (you will see the USB printer in the list). Click Add > More Printers > select Canon IJ Network from the drop down menu > select the printer listed under Canon IJ Network area and click Add.
Now when you go back to the Printer Setup Utility you will see the network printer listed with a MAC address just after it. Select the printer > click set to default. Disconnect the USB cable and attempt a few test prints.
The IP address for the printer must be unique and can be either manualy assigned or dynamicaly assigned based on the settings made in the IJ Network Utility.

  • Can iPad 2 3G wifi print to canon pixma ip 100

Can iPad 2 3G wifi print to canon pixma ip 100

    Khaled-
The iPad only prints by WiFi, so your 3G is not involved.  There must be a WiFi path between the iPad and the printer.
I do not believe your Canon printer is compatible with AirPrint, so you will need an alternative way to print.  Look in the iTunes store for Canon Apps that can print to your printer.  There are other Apps such as Print n Share that should work for you.
Another way is to share your computer's printer as AirPrint over WiFi.  Printopia is a Macintosh program that can do this.  For a free alternative, search the web for AirPrint Activator.  Versions are available for both Mac and Windows.

  • How to set up Yosemite 10.10.1 to print and scan using CANON PIXMA MP780 (on MacBook Pro). Thanks. Bozdogan

How to set up Yosemite 10.10.1 to print and scan using CANON PIXMA MP780 on MacBook Pro (Pre-Yosemite operating system OS X10.6.8)?
Yosemite 10.10.1 doesn't seem to support MP780. Also, CANON doesn't have a driver for Yosemite 10.10.1 for its MP 780 series.
    Thanks. Bozdogan  (at [email protected])

I believe you should be able to print wirelessly using your MBP and printer. However, you will want to visit the Canon home site and download the current drivers and firmware for your printer. Once you've done this, I hope you'll post back with your results.

You're going to need both drivers and firmware.

  • Canon PIXMA MP600R - not working in wireless mode since installing 10.6.1

I have a Canon PIXMA MP600R which was set up to use over a wireless network and was working completely 100%.
However I installed Snow Leopard two weeks ago and now the printer wont work wirelessly. I have reinstalled the printer three times now, downloaded the printer updates from Apple and still no joy. I have trawled through the help file and the Canon PIXMA MP600R manual and have still not managed to connect wirelessly even though all the criteria's are met - access point, network configuration etc. The printer does not display in the Utility Printer Network List only in the USB list. When trying to connect to the printer to the router the message 'Printer cannot be found' pop up comes up even though all MAC, IP address, network access are met... any ideas?

Not sure why this is giving you so much trouble but I believe the MP600R will work fine on Snow Leopard once we get the machine correctly configured. I think I made an assumption that you were printing fine via wireless with another version of Mac OS X. But given that the printer does not appear to have/had an IP address set, then it would suggest that you were not printing previously via wireless. Is this correct?
To configure the IP address in the MP600R you have to connect the printer to the Mac via USB. Then you select the USB attached MP600R in the Printers list and open the Options & Supplies > Printer Utility. This will open the Canon IJ Printer Utility. Here you select the MP600R and now the Network Settings button should appear. If the button is still not present then you may have to download and install the Canon IJ Network Utility v2.70. In testing 10.6, my printers have already been configured for the network so I have never needed to do this setup step and therefore I am not certain if the facility exists to configure the network settings without this tool being installed. Apologies if this has been the stumbling block.
Once you have the Network Settings button present, select it and go through the procedures to configure the network settings. Once this process has completed, the setup will prompt you to turn off the MP600R and then disconnect the USB cable. Then when you power the MP600R back on, the machine should be connected to your wireless access point. At this stage you can check that the MP600R has an IP address via the Device Settings menu on the printer (refer back to my third reply to check how this is done).
Once the printer has an IP address and shows that it is active, you can now add another printer queue, this time for the wireless connected MP600R. Open Print & Fax, select to Add and choose the Default view. As I said in the first reply, you will probably see the MP600R immediately as a Bonjour Scanner, but we need to wait until the MP600R appears with its Kind column showing 'canonijnetwork'. When this does appear, select it and the Print Using menu will automatically find the correct driver. Click Add to finish adding the network printer queue.
Hope this stops the hair reduction....

  • Can't get WiFi network printing

    hey there all,
i recently swapped out my AXg base station for the new AEBSn. i have 2 H-P printers; 1 an HP Photosmart(circa late 2006) directly connected to my DP G5. the other, a PSC(circa mid 2004) was connected to my AXg. my problem is that now w/ the PSC connnected to the AEBSn USB port, it acts as though it is connecting & starting to print, but it does 1 line then quits. i've done all the things suggested in the Airport help as well as from H-P's website.
i've dl'd & reinstalled the driver, turned things off/on, unplugged/re-plugged all to no avail. so far i can get printing from 2 of my other Macs(a MacBook & a 17" iMac CD) from the PSC, but only by having the PSC printer connected via USB through a hub to the DP G5 & used as a shared printer, but neither can see/connect to the Photosmart even though it appear as option in the Print Dialog. i need to have the Photosmart as the default/shared printer on the DP G5 & the PSC as the AEBS/WiFi network printer. this is the way things were setup w/ the AXg, but if they were even reveresd, w/ the Photosmart as the WiFi network printer & the PSC as the default/shared printer on the DP G5 that would work. also, i can not get the other Macs on my network to connect to the Photosmart to print & i can't get my 17" iMac G4 to connect to either printer. i'll keep plugging away w/ trying the "Help" in the meantime as i really need to be able to print to @ least 1 printer from all the Macs. anyone w/ more thoughts or ideas than those available in Airport Help will be greatly appreciated.
    thanks.

I am having the same problem. I have two HP photosmart printers, 7700 and 7900 series. They both worked before over the old airport extreme. Now, neither work over the new airport extreme. They act like the are starting to print and then stop. Can someone resolve this problem. They main reason I upgraded was to support multiple printers on the network. Now I don't even have one.

  • Frustrated trying to print from Canon Pixma 9500

Does anyone have any tips for printing from Canon Pixma 9500?
I profiled the screen, printer and paper using colormunki.
Trying to print from photoshop. Frustrated that the printer interface isn't as described in many online forums (for example, it seems impossible to turn off colour management).
Getting strange blue borders around everything when using the paper profiles via colormunki.
Does anyone have any good tips?
    .......help.....!

I used colormunki to calibrate my screen, printer and to make a paper profile.
Read one site that suggested the strange blue borders are related to V4 vs V2 paper profiles...whatever that means. Apparently it is an issue printing from photoshop.

Have you ruled out an issue with the driver for the printer? It is possible that the material on the installation disk was developed prior to PSEv.12. I understand that everything is new, but who knows what the date of production is. You can check on Canon's web site for driver update.

  • When I am on my home wifi I can send e-mail.  When I am not on my home e-mail but on a wifi network or using the 3g network I cannot send e-mail.  HELP HOW TO FIX.

When I am on my home wifi I can send e-mail.  When I am not on my home e-mail but on a wifi network or using the 3g network I cannot send e-mail.  HELP HOW TO FIX.

    I know this question is a few years old now, but I recently found myself having the exact same issues;
Using my iphone or ipad at home created no problems at all, but I couldn't send e mails when away from my home network.
I recently switched broadband supplier at home and set up a new e mail address, then my problems began!
I openly admit I'm not great with technology and, to be honest, some of the answers provided on these forums confuse me more than the questions!
    But this worked for me:
I went along the lines that the fault wasn't with my idevice but possibly with the broadband provider (in my case Plusnet) so I contacted their customer support.
    They referred me to the set up process shown below;
From your home screen press Settings.
From the setting menu, choose Mail, Contacts, Calendars followed by Add Account…
From the Add Account… menu choose Other.
Fill in your Full Name, Email Address, Password and Description and press Next.If you need help with these, there's more detail underneath the screenshot.
Full name: Enter your name (or the name you'd like people to see when you send them email)
Email Address: Enter the address you're setting up, this could be a Plusnet address ([email protected]) or a hosted domain address ([email protected])
Password: Enter the password for your email address (I don't know what this is)
Description: Enter a useful description of the email address you're setting up (e.g. Mum's email). You can put whatever you want here
    Press Next to continue.
More settings will appear. Some will already be filled in.Enter the Incoming and Outgoing Mail Server details and press Next. If you need help with these, there's more detail underneath the screenshot.
IMAP/POP This will default to IMAP - it's up to you which one you want to use (I don't know what to choose)
    Incoming Mail Server settings
Host Name: For IMAP this is imap.plus.net - for POP, this is mail.plus.net
User Name & Password: Enter the username and password for the email address you're setting up (I don't know what these are)
    Outgoing Mail Server settings
    Host Name: relay.plus.net
User Name & Password: These are optional, but if you want to send mail while on the move (e.g. while connected to mobile or wireless networks), we recommend filling these in.Enter the username and password for the email address you're setting up (I don't know what these are)
    When you're finished, press Next.
If the box shown below appears, press Yes (you may need to do this twice).
After a minute or two, your email address will be set up and ready to use.If you chose IMAP when setting up you’ll be able to choose whether you want to use Notes (if you chose POP you’ll be taken back to the settings screen from step 2). Press Save when you’re done.
That's all you need to do. To start checking your email, go back to your home screen and press Mail.
Now I fully understand that it may be different for each broadband provider but the processes must be similar.
The key appears to be in setting up the outgoing message server settings in step 5. Where it says "optional, but if you want to send mail while on the move (e.g. while connected to mobile or wireless networks), we recommend filling these in.
    http://www.plus.net/support/email/setup/ios-setup.shtml#pagetop
Where it says "we recommend" I think it should read "you must fill these in"
I went back to Settings - Mail,Contacts, Calenders - click on the offending account and click on the account shown.
Under OUTGOING MAIL SERVER click on the server, in my case relay.plus.net, and click again to show the details. make sure you enter your user name and password and after a few seconds the account will verify and show a load of ticks.
I tried this on my phone this morning while on 3G only. I sent an email to another of my addresses and immediately got the response that the message couldn't be sent as the recipient was rejected and the message had been placed in my Outbox. I followed the above steps and immediately heard the satisfying "whoosh" as my mail was sent. 10 seconds later another satisying beep as my e mail arrived at my alternate account.
Hope this helps anyone else with a similar problem.

  • Why am i getting poor quality photo prints after installing lion using canon pixma 6120?

After installing Lion, I began experiencing poor quality photo prints on my Canon Pixma 6120 printer.  Prior to Lion, my picture prints were all high quality.  Now, anything black in the picture is faded.

Lion should not cause the blacks to print faded. The printer drivers used by Snow Leopard and Leopard are the same version as that used by Lion.
For starters I suggest you check that you have the latest version installed. This Apple KB article shows the MG6100 series has v10.51.2.0 as the latest version.
I also recommend you do a Nozzle test print. This can be executed from the MG6120 control panel or via the Printer Utilties window (via Print & Scan, select the printer and then open Options & Supplies and then select the Utilties tab).
If the nozzle test print is okay but the blacks still look faded when printing photos (note the printer has two black ink tanks - one for photos and one for text) then try a reset of the printing system. This will remove the MG6120 from the Print & Scan pane but not the supporting drivers. So you will only have to add the printer again.

  • Home Wifi Network Issue using Airport and 2 BT Hub...

I'm having problems getting my home network set up without IP conflicts.  Any advice much appreciated...
    Here's what I've currently got:
    BT Broadband Unlimted
Hub 2.0 connected to broadband line - wireless network switched off
Apple Airport Time Capsule connected to Hub 2.0 by WAN cable (Airport running in Bridge mode)
Various Apple devices (MBP, iMac, iPhones, iPads, iPod), PS3 and Sony Surround Sound connected to Airport with wifi.
Wifi extender connected to Airport by wifi (obviously) for upstairs - PS3 and occassionally MBP connected to that)
Ethernet cable from Airport to a Hub 1.5 in the Garden Office with MBP and HP Printer then connected to Hub 1.5 with wifi.
HDD connected to Airport with USB cable.
Everything was working fine until I ran the ethernet cable to the office and connected the Hub 1.5.  It worked fine in the office, wifi connected, I could see the internet and the Airport and the connected HDD.
However, at this point, the iMac back in the house, which connects to the Airport wifi network, sometimes connects to the internet, sometimes doesn't.  It connected to the Wifi fine, just won't connect to the Internet. It was stopping at the Hub2.0 "Default Gateway" (according to traceroute).  Switching wifi networks on the iMac (e.g. Airport 2.5Ghz to Airport 5GHz, or Airport to FON or Airport to the Office Wifi) fixes the internet connection problem, until next time I try to connect.
This only affects the iMac.  The MBPs, iPhones etc have no problems connecting to wither wifi or the Internet...
I figured it must be an IP addressing problem due to the Hub1.5 conflicting with the IP address range configured for the Hub2.0, so I tried to re-configure this on the Hub1.5 in the Office.
However, to get to the Hub Manager, I had to disconnect the Ehternet cable (otherwise it just went to the Hub2.0 Hub Manager).  Once I did this and reset the Hub1.5 to factory settings, I could see the Hub1.5 Manager.  However, if I click on Advanced and enter the password (after restting it with the SN) I can't see any of the advances menu options in the left hand panel (e.g. IP Addresses).  So I can't change the IP address range.
Any ideas how I can get to see the IP Address options on the Hub1.5?
I also tried setting a static IP address on the iMAC, but it won't let me - just says IP address already in use when I try to change it to one in the range set on the Hub2.
Worse thing is, now that I've reset the Hub1.5, the Internet connection keeps dropping on that as well now.  It works fine for a few minutes then drops and I have to turn wifi off and on again, or disconnect and reconnect the ethernet cable to get the Internet to connect again, then it drops after a few minutes.
So, I've gone from the iMac not working to the iMac and the office hub1.5 not working properly, and all I've really done is reset the hub1.5 to factory settings...
Shall I just get rid of the 1.5 and buy a different wifi router for the office?
Should I be able to change the IP address range on the 1.5?
    Any other ideas?
Any help much appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Have you tried running the TC not in bridge mode?
In airport utility, instead of selecting bridge mode, select share a public ip address. You will get an advisory warning from the TC but just opt to ignore it.
This way all of the DHCP is handled by the TC and the HH1.5 and none by the HH2.
Otherwise a replacement for the HH1.5 might be called for - perhaps and airport extreme.

  • Can't Open Some App using home wifi network, must use 3g to do it

My iPhone is 5s. Just like the title said, whenever my iPhone / iPad connected to wifi I can't connect to some games like Puzzle and Dragon even though I can browse using safari, using fb / twitter / instagram just fine. I keep getting connection error (in game of course) whenever I open that game (not only that game actually). Whenever I open the game, I can get myself automatically logged into gamecenter, but the can't connect to the game itself.
I've tried changing the dns from the default 192.168.1.1 to google's and resetting the cache (airplane mode -> on -> off). But to no avail.
Have tried to open the game on my father's iPhone and iPad, and my sister iPhone too. I suspect my problem is my wifi configuration isn't compatible to ios(?).
Sometimes I experience updating app problem too on home wifi network, I can browse app store but can't update any app.
While my phone can't, my friend's android can play the game just fine using my home's wifi network.
    Please help me fix this.

    Welcome to Apple Support Communities
First, when you are going to turn off or restart your Mac, you will see a box called "Reopen windows when logging back in" in the shutdown or restart window. Untick this box and see if the App Store opens automatically in the next startup.
If it starts, open System Preferences > Users and Groups > Login Items, and see if the App Store shows up. If so, remove it from this list
