Wifi stopped finding networks!

i am experiencing the same problem that most are having with the wifi suddenly not working anymore. it doesnt find any networks. have tried all the things that have not worked for anyone (restore network setting etc) and dont know what to do. i live in south africa and so we do not have these genius bars so dont know how i can get it replaced... does anyone know if apple has mentioned if the 3.0 will fix this problem?

Did you reset the phone by holding the sleep and home button until the Apple logo comes up?
You will not lose any data doing a reset.
Next step would be to restore the phone without using the backup, you might have corrupt files on your phone.

  • WIFI stopped finding any networks

    Hi all.
    My iPhone is a 3g 16gb with 2.2.1 firmware.
I've had it for a few months now and it was working perfectly, so was the WIFI.
Three days ago, all of a sudden it stopped finding ANY networks!
I tried to hard reset the iPhone, that didn't work. I tried restoring it to 2.2.1, that didn't work as well.
My friend's iPhone 3g and my laptop do find all the networks my iPhone used to find.
I read these articles, but they were irrelevant:
    http://support.apple.com/kb/TS1559
    http://support.apple.com/kb/TS1398
The device didn't fall or get bumped.
Is anyone familiar with this problem?
    Thanks, Gal.

It has been found (by third parties) that part of the problem with all these iPhones that no longer connect to WiFi networks could be due to the WiFi chip suffering damage and shutting down due to heat from the battery at a certain charge level. There are no specifics or confirmation from Apple (likely never will be). But this is something a lot of people come here and ask about.
If your WiFi has stopped working and restores do not work you have a hardware problem. You should contact Apple and they will replace your iPhone.

  • WiFi Stopped Working Completely on my Phone

It was working yesterday in a cafe just fine but after I got home it stopped finding networks. No matter how close I am to the signal it finds no networks. If i type in the name of the network manually it says "Could not find the network "network name"" I have tried this in different locations now, with different wifi routers and nothing works. I have power cycled the phone, I have drained the battery all the way and recharged and nothing works. I have also disabled and renabed WiFi under the settings icon. The only thing I haven't tried is clearing the cache of known networks because I don't know how.
Can anyone please help this is really destroying my productivity!

or reset the iphone hold the home button and power button for about 10seconds after the off slide appears until the apple appears it will take about 45seconds - a minute to start up again... if this or the reset network settings dont work your next step is to restore via itunes as a new iphone
if that dont work- off to the genius bar for you

  • Airport Extrem not finding networks

I have an Ibook G4 with an airport extrem card. For about 6 months I used it with several public wirless networks , at university and cafes around town. One fine day, after not using it for about a month, it simply stopped finding networks. I turn it on via the menu at the top of the screen, but it simply does not find any network , not even ones that it used to connect to.
I made no changes in the configuration before it stopped working.
The Apple troubleshooting suggests that if you don't see a wireless network, try clicking Scan Again. I do not have this option, networks just appear in the menu once they are located.
In all these places ,the wirless if working for other people, siting next to me, so it is not a problem with the networks themselves.
Any ideas? should i take of the keyboard and check that the antena is located correctly?

ok , ill try it. Thanks.
Do you think I should also uninstall the software , or just start with removing the card and putting it back in place?
Or is there any thing else that needs doing?

  • TS3274 My iPad has stopped finding any wifi networks

My iPad has stopped finding wifi networks

Check to see that you are using the cable and charger that came with the iPad, especially the charger itself. If you are trying to charge using the PC, it's USB ports are likely not capable of delivering enough current to properly charge the iPad.

If Join was on then your home wi-fi must be set to Non-Broadcast.  If you did not set this up (maybe your provider did) then you will need to find the Network Name they used, and any password they used.  The SSID is Security Set ID and to see more try http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/SSID .  Basically it is the name used to identify your router/network.  A lot of times the installer will leave it set as LinkSys, or Broadcom or whatever the manufacturer set it as for default.  Your best bet is to get whoever installed it to walk you through how they set it up, giving you id's and passwords so you can get in.  HOWEVER, if you are not comfortable with this (if you set security wrong, etc.) you would be well ahead of the game to hire a local computer tech (networking) to get this working for you.  You can also contact the vendor of your router and get help (if it is still in warranty), or at least get copies of the manuals as pdf files.  Sorry I can't give you more help, I hope this gives you an idea where to go from here to find more.

  • WIFI stopped working after I woke the computer up, now says connected to the network but not the internet, all other coputers and devices connected still with no problems, have pinged IP address from router and got the message "4 packets sent none receive

    Hi,
WIFI stopped working after I woke the computer up, now says connected to the network but not the internet, all other coputers and devices connected still with no problems, have pinged IP address from router and got the message "4 packets sent none received"... Help
I have tried network diagnostics which doesnt help... The only other ting is, when I woke the computer up it said tat another device was using my IP... My wife had plugged her phone into the computer to charge etc but even when i turn wifi off on the phone there is no change... also in settings on the phone the IP address is different...

The answer to your question is - neither!
Your PC should to configured to obtain an IP address automatically, and to obtain DNS server IP addresses automatically, from the Airport Express. This is the way Windows (and Macs for that matter) are configued by default, and that is the way most people have their computers set up. If you manually configured your PC's IP address to be the same as your wife's Mac, it certainly explains why your PC is not able to access the internet.

I've tried the network reset, it didn't work. My phone works fine, just a lilttle bit slow before i upadated to 7.0.4. And now not only the wifi, the phone itself is slower than ever. I wish i didn't udgrade to iOs 7. There's too much problems. There's this one time that I can't send iMessage at all.

    Hi s.kouris,
I'm afraid that unless you are able to contact the previous owner and have him wipe the device, or provide you with his Apple ID password so you can delete the iCloud account, you are out of luck.
With iOS 7, an Activiation Lock was added to deter thieves. This lock prevents anyone but the owner of the device from deleting the iCloud account and restoring the device:
    http://support.apple.com/kb/ht5818
Unless you are able to reach the original owner and get the device wiped or the iCloud account deleted, you are stuck with a brick.
    Sorry,

  • Wifi stopped working on home network, works on neighbours network

Since a few days i suddenly can't connect to the internet on my home network with my MacBook Pro Late 2011 running OS X Yosemite Version 10.10.1, but when i connect to my neighbours network it works flawless. Nothing changed in my own network.
I have tried to delete the settings of my home network and set it back again. I also deleted the WIFI within my network settings and add a new one this had no result. When i use the "option" key on the wifi symbol it says internet: unreachable (in dutch) i do get a IP-address and the Router address. On my other computers (Windows based) there are no connection problems. My iPad and iPhone don't have any problems as well. It is only the macbook with this issue.
I do have a new Bluetooth 1.4 / Wifi chip (8 weeks ago but it worked perfectly and still does on my neighbours network), but if this was the problem i believe i would not be able to connect to the internet at all. When i connect to my neighbours network i can download any webpage or file very fast.
If there is anyone who knows a possible solutions i would love to hear this. Thank you in advance.

    Hi drpiso,
Thanks for the question. Based on what you stated, it seems like the computer is the only device having trouble connecting only to your home network. I would recommend that you read this article, it may be able to help the issue.

  • Apple TV will no longer find networks.

Hi, I bought my Apple TV refurbished about two years ago. Serial number is: C0KHQ251DRHN.
It has worked flawlessly until last week. Suddenly, it stopped connecting to the WiFi. When going into Network Settings it cannot find any of the local networks. my Macbook,. iPhone, and iPad all find and can connect to my network and my neighbors. I restarted my Apple TV and it was able to find networks again. However, 2 days later it stopped detecting networks again, even when manually searching for the network names. I have restarted and reset the AppleTV and even hooked it up to my computer and did a full reset and redownloaded the new software. However, it is still unable to detect any WiFi networks. Does anyone have any suggestions?

At that point I would suspect a hardware issue. Take it to Apple so they can have a look.

Are you using DHCP to allocate IP addresses via your router or Static IP allocation?
You may have an IP conflict in your network.
Check on your various network configuration parameters in your iPad, PC and WiFi router.

Does the iOS device connect to other networks?
Does the iOS device see the network?
    Any error messages?
Try right next to the router
    Do other devices now connect?
Did the iOS device connect before?
Try the following to rule out a software problem:
    - Reset the iOS device. Nothing will be lost
Reset iOS device: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
    - Power off and then back on your router
.- Reset network settings: Settings>General>Reset>Reset Network Settings
    - iOS: Troubleshooting Wi-Fi networks and connections
    - Wi-Fi: Unable to connect to an 802.11n Wi-Fi network
    - iOS: Recommended settings for Wi-Fi routers and access points
    - Restore from backup. See:
    iOS: How to back up
    - Restore to factory settings/new iOS device.
If still problem and it does not connect to any networks make an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store since it appears you have a hardware problem.

    Could it be this?
iOS: Wi-Fi or Bluetooth settings grayed out or dim
One user reported that placing the iPod in the freezer fixed the problem. A trick that works frequently with iPhones:
Settings > AirPlane Mode ON, Do Not Disturb ON
Power down and wait 5-10 minutes
    Power up
Settings > AirPlane Mode OFF, Do Not Disturb OFF
If not successful, an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is usually in order.
