Will a replaced iPhone 3GS have the new firmware 3.1.3?

Will a replaced (reconditioned) iPhone 3GS have the new firmware 3.1.3 yet?
Thinking of taking mine to an apple store in the UK and it will more than likely just be replaced.
Any had one replaced in the last few days or had experience of how quickly they update thier stock handsets?
Many thanks

I would expect they will not. I got a replacement 3G back in mid October which still had 3.1 or 3.1.1 on it. First time I sync'd it with iTunes in updated to 3.1.2. Phones with 3.1.3 will probably cycle into inventory over time, but I am pretty sure they don't update existing stock.

I updated my IPhone 3GS to the new 5.1 operating system and have since had a range of problems with not only my phone but also my IPad.
Programs (Safari, mail, messages) keep crashing, mail will not delete properly (some will keep popping into my inbox again for no reason!!!), slow, settings lock up etc. etc.
This only seemed to become an issue once I updated to ios 5.1 and funnily also affected my Ipad even though i hadn't updated the software yet. I have since updated the software on my ipad thinking it might help too but that only made things worse!! So I am not sure if it's an ICloud issue, but when i try to disable ICloud my devices lock up as well.
The battery life is also shocking!!
I have hard reset both devices, restored both devices, reset the setting and tried a whole host of other suggestions (like closing background programs) on this forum buit nothing works and i am tearing my hair out.
I looked in the phone and ipad log and there do seem to be low memory reports though i don't know why these are occuring now when they never have before??
I don't know if I can restore the old operating system (If I can please let me know how). The phone or ipad are not jailbroken.

but you should have a backup in itunes.
Every time you sync your iOS device iTunes creates a backup. go check if its there, iTunes Preferences >Devices. and there you should see if you have a backup, and in case from which date the backup is.
And ofcourse you can get your icloud data back by just logging in with your Appleid under icloud in settings on the iphone.
But anyway, if the iPhone works when you restor it as new: try adding your backup, and see if the issue comes back. And experiment with your backup and try to work out what is causing the issue, my guess is that its some app!   Good Luck!

  • If I buy a new iPhone 3GS on eBay, can I transfer the SIM card from my current iPhone 3GS into the new one and will it still work?

I have an 8GB iPhone 3GS on AT&T, and I wanted to purchase a 16GB version on eBay. Will I be able to just pop the SIM card out of the current iPhone 3GS into the new iPhone 3GS and have it work properly?

Yes, you will be able to use it provided that the 16GB version of 3GS is either factory unlocked or locked to AT&T network (in case of a carrier locked phone).

  • If I update my Iphone 3GS to the newer software version IOS 6.1.3, will I lose my contacts, apps and photos?

I am wanting to update my Iphone 3GS to the newer version IOS 6.1.3, but is afraid I might lose all of my photos including my wedding photos, apps and all of my contacts? How can I make sure I will not lose my photos, apps, contacts and all of my passwords. Is there a easier way in order not to lose anything? HELP!!!!

Although included with the iPhone's backup, all photos/videos in the iPhone's Camera Roll can and should be imported by your computer as with any other digital camera.
    http://support.apple.com/kb/ht4083
Although contacts are also included with the iPhone's backup, contacts are designed to be synced with a supported address book app on your computer, and/or there are a number of free email accounts that support syncing contacts and other data over the air.
All iTunes content - all music, movies, tv shows, tones, audio and print books, and 3rd party apps should be in your iTunes library on your computer.
Settings, passwords, etc. are also included with the iPhone's backup, but so is a significant amount of other data. There is always the change some of the data included with the backup is corrupt or cannot be restored from the backup.

  • Is it a good idea to update my iphone 3GS with the new io6 software?  I did it with my iphone 3G and the io4 software ruined it really!

Is it a good idea to update my iphone 3GS with the new io6 software?  I did it with my iphone 3G and the io4 software ruined it really!

Your plan is generally OK, but I would suggest a different approach, since you're so frazzled by it.
    1. Update iPhoto first; check and backup the iPhoto Library;
    2. Upgrade to Yosemite; This will prompt you to migrate to Photos, but you don't have to do it, so don't!
    3. iPhoto 9.6.1 will remain in your Applications folder and you can continue to use it;
    4. Learn more about Photos, it's features and how iCloud Photo Library really works (for example, once you turn it on, you won't need to download manually);
    5. When you do feel you know enough about Photos, only then launch it to migrate your photos; after migration your iPhoto Library remains fully functional, in case you want to revert to using iPhoto, so that part should not worry you.
Thet biggest issue you have is the small amount of free space. You might want to address tha first, or locate your new Photos Library on an external drive as well, and only move it to your local drive when it's been optimized (or keep it on an external).

  • Iphone 3gs to the new iphone4

I just brought the iphone 3gs not even a week ago, and now I see that the iphone4 is coming out, how can I get this phone instead? I know they have a 30day return th but how does this work? it would've saved me a hassle if they would've said new phone coming out you might wanna wait.

On April 5, 2010 I purchased an iPhone 3GS from my local Apple Store. Within a few days a friend at Apple mentioned a new IPhone was in the works, rumored to be available June or July. Apple's return policy is 14 days, but I called the Apple Store twice to verify that AT&T had a 30 day return policy and that they DID NOT CHARGE A RE-STOCKING FEE when I returned it! It's possible that charging the restocking fee varies by Apple Store (but I doubt it). Call the store that you bought your 3GS from and ask specifically their return policy on your 3GS. If you bought it from an Apple Store, I expect you will have good news!

  • ITunes will not recognize iPhone 3gs, but the phone charges. I've tried everything!

    Hi
    I've uninstalled and reinstalled iTunes.
I've tried a different USB port.
I've turned the phone off and on.
    I've restarted the computer.
    I've restarted the AMDS.
I have all the latest updates.
I'm using an iPhone 3GS on a Windows 7 laptop.
I have no other problems with the phone, and I did nothing to make it unrecognizable.
My computer recognizes it as a device, but iTunes doesn't.
iTunes does however recognize my iPod.
    Please help me!!!

Does you have tried everything include verifying the Apple Mobile Device USB Driver is installed, checking for 3rd party mobile phone software installed on your computer, and troubleshooting 3rd party security software?

  • How do i transfer my contacts from my iphone 3gs to the new iphone 4s?

How do I transfer my contacts etc from my iphone 3gs to iphone 4s ?

You do it via iTunes on your Mac or PC (by syncing the contacts to the equivalent desktop app), or via iCloud (but you'd need to upgrade the 3GS to iOS5 and open an iCloud account).
With iTunes, sync the 3GS, then connect the 4s and sync it
There are utilities like PhoneView (Mac) and others that will allow you to extract the data from your 3GS, but iTunes or iCloud are the preferred methods.
I should add that, if you're not using iTunes to sync your phone, you're at risk of losing data.

I can't update my os through iTunes. Any suggestions?

Error 3194: Resolve error 3194 by updating to the latest version of iTunes. "This device is not eligible for the requested build" in the updater logs confirms this is the root of the issue. For more Error 3194 steps see: This device is not eligible for the requested build above.

  • I am trying to update my iphone 3Gs for the IOS 5

    Please help!
I am trying to update my
IPhone 3GS to the new update ios5 and it has downloaded and its now stuck on the Backing up Iphone bit and its been there since 3:00pm today and still wont go away, I have stopped it once due to thinking the computer had frozen and restarted it and its gone and done the same and now i am going to leave it to go though the night to see if it will be done in the morning, Please please you know how to make this ****ing thing work TELL ME ! lol

are you able to see the apps on the home screen? If so, it's most likely an issue with your carrier
This is also an issue that can appear on devices that have been modified in an unauthorized manner (not judging, just saying)

  • Will my replacement iphone be unlocked to all networks?

I have just recieved a replacement Iphone 4s as my old one was faulty, But recently bought myself a Iphone 5.
I wanted to pass the new Iphone 4 onto my sister but i was on Vodafone & shes on 3.
Will the replacement that Apple have sent me be unlocked to all networks? Or still be on Vodafone?
Bearing in mind its a whole new handset.
My sister is awaiting the delivery of her micro sim so cannot test it out to see until that comes.
Anyone that could help would be appriciated! Thanks

The replacement handset will have the same carrier profile settings that the old one had.  If the old one was carrier locked, the new one will be as well.  You can always ask the carrier to unlock the device. It's up to them.
If they agree, the process takes a few days to work thru the system, then you restore the replacement iPhone 4, and the new carrier profile (sim-unlock or carrier unlock) will be applied.  But again, it is at the carrier's discretion.

  • I updated my IPhone 3GS to the newest software version, now I can't get past the activation stage. AT

I updated my iPhone 3GS to the new version 6.1.3 and installed the new software. After doing this, I can't get past the activation stage in the process. I had AT&T and the phone doctors look at it and they couldn't figure it out. Apple wants $175 for me to send it in but I shouldn't have to pay for an update malfunction. I am at the mercy of the good folks in Apple land to help me.

Is your carrier still AT&T? What error message do you get when you try to activate it?
Have you tried a new SIM? Was the phone jailbroken? Was the computer you used to update it ever used to jailbreak a phone? In general, this problem is caused by one of the following:
    1. Your antivirus is blocking access to gs.apple.com.
    2. Your phone is jailbroken.
    3. Your computer has been used at some time in the past to jaibreak some iOS device (not necessarily the phone with the problem), and its network database was corrupted by the hacking software that was used.
    4. Apple's activation servers are down (very rare, and never for more than an hour or so).
For 1. try disabling your antivirus.
For 2. & 3. you need to go somewhere other than an apple forum for help. Although you can try deleting lines containing gs.apple.com from your "hosts" file on your computer.

  • I have the new iPhone 4s.  I'm using cloud.  I try to sync my playlists to my phone an it either erases them completely or keeps saying it cannot move all music files over?  Please help.  Also my purchased ringtones will not sync up as well.

iPod touches or any iDevices from Apple sync only to one computer. If you sync to a different computer, all your music will be replace with the music from the new computer's iTunes. If the music were purchased from iTunes, you can re-download them again otherwise the music on iPod touch will be deleted. Do you have iTunes backup?
