Will iMessage still work on my iPad if....

Currently, I have an iPad, iPhone and iPod touch. When someone with an iPhone texts me, I get them on my other devices. Which is great because my husband and my boss both have an iPhone. In the evening, I am usually near my iPad and not my phone, so I get the texts right away. I am not unhappy with my iPhone at all, but am considering getting an android phone this time. Just to change it up a bit (and hopefully not regret it). My question is whether the texts from those two people would still continue to go to my iPad if my iPhone was taken out of the equation???

I keep searching cnet and other sites for something more than a rumor on the next iPhone. Haven't found anything concrete yet. I am not sure if I like the sort of bubble gum look to the new iOS 7. But I have to say that my iStuff just works. ;-) I've been burned by older Samsung phones that wouldn't even make or take phone calls when I needed it. I wanted to pitch the last one in the last after 5 months. Eventually, I found someone at Sprint who let me upgrade very early. And my next computer might be an Apple as well. Not really digging the new windows 8, but I'll have to wait a few years on that one. Too soon to replace my laptop. As I mentioned, I am not unhappy with my iPhone, just kinda itching for something new and different. A lot of my devices are getting kinda old.... Although they all work just fine. ;-)

If you turn off iMessage, then you can't send or receive iMessages... in case that wasn't apparent.
The problem is the android users who did not turn off iMessage on their iPhones before they switched to something else. They need to fix that. If they don't, then your only option is to turn off iMessage or forcibly send the messages as SMS messages.

With iMessages open on yuour iMac, from the menu bar top of your screen click Messages > My Status
You can select Off or Online as necessary from there.

CDMA isn't any use here as there aren't any UK CDMA based carriers, they are all GSM/sim card based (I'm not aware of any CDMA carriers in Europe). As the AT&T version appears to support an extra 4G LTE band then that might be the better one.

Either the physical drive or the enclosure electronics has failed. The light you are seeing is powered by the USB connection, the power, electricity, all USB ports put out. That doesn't mean the actual physical hard drive or the USB to SATA bus electronics are working properly. If it doesn't show in Disk Utility then it is DEAD.
Most of the time it is the enclosures electronics that fail. Removing the physical drive from the enclosure and put it in another enclosure or using a SATA to USB adapter, one that has it's own AC power supply, might allow you to get the files off the drive.

They're not phones, thus they don't activate either iMessage or FaceTime for your phone number, only the Apple ID. That's why. IF you don't use your phone number, you should be able to activate using just your Apple ID, but as it is a phone, I suspect it will get stuck trying to activate using the phone number. You could try activating with the sim removed...in essence activate as an iPod touch.

If you are saying that the iPod asks for the password for the network and you do not know it, what may work is to turn on iCloud keychain for the iPod and iPad., Thet may sync the password from the iPad to the iPod

iPad requires Wifi (or 3G /LTE) to connect to the Internet. You cannot connect a USB modem to the iPad.
You can create your own WiFi hotspot through your computer for your iPad to connect to, if your computer supports this functionality. All Wifi Macs and many Wifi PCs do. Check your computer manual for how to do it.

There is no such thing as Windows for Mac. Windows is Windows and you can install it on a Windows computer or on an Apple computer. Once installed it will work until you remove it.
