Will my non-Universal AUs work on a Logic IntelMac

Everybody is talking about the switch to Intel and Logic being the first Pro app to ship in Universal Mode. Great, no you can run Logic on an IntelMac. But I haven't seen any discussion about the Plug-in issue.
Here is my thought:
* Let's assume that all third party AU plug-ins have to be in Universal to run in Logic on an IntelMac
* Lets's assume I get my Logic 7.2 upgrade (order confirmation from yesterday says : shipping on Feb-13)
* Let's assume I get an Intel iMac to run Logic.
* Conclusion: I would have spend $49 for a Logic Universal upgrade version which I can't use with any of my (20 or so non-Universal) AU plugins
By the time most of the Plug-ins are upgraded Logic Pro 8 would be out - for another upgrade fee. So what's the purpose of having a Universal Logc version if there is not a single third party plug-in available?
How about Rosetta. Can I run Logic in native Intel mode and all the non-Universal plug-ins switch to Rosetta emulation? That sounds like asking for a major instability-desastor.
Did anybody discuss that issue with Apple at NAMM or on the phone?

Applications which are running native on Intel Macs can't load any plugins that are non-native. This means that non-native AudioUnits won't be recognized by a native Application. However - for emergencies - it seems to be possible to run Logic Pro 7.2 under Rosetta with PowerPC AudioUnits. I have no idea, what the performance in general would be, but it might give you a chance to bounce a file, etc.
WARNING: It is not trivial, because you not only have to launch Logic Pro under Rosetta, but also the Logic AU Manager (hidden inside Logic Pro) and - to push it to the limit - the auval tool has to be stripped (don't forget a backup!) to remove the Intel code. Otherwise the PowerPC AudioUnits will not be recognized by the system and Logic Pro.
I seems that MIDI drivers and Audio drivers always have to be native to work on an Intel Mac. Makes sense, non-real time for them doesn't make sense at all!

No NON-Universal binary program will run

So after loading itunes 7.0.2 for my new shuffle, my non universal binary programs will run. not sure where to put this questions. When you go to run the program it will bounce once in the dock and won't open. Universal binary programs work fine.
Steps I have taken
1. reloaded a program so see if it would work
2. repaired disk
3. repaired permissions
4. created separate user and ran program under that user
5. Reset the PRAM
6. tried something called update pre-bindings, but this wouldn't work.

Afterwards, you should reinstall third party applications. In the installation dialogs, you can choose which languages you want to install.

Try:
- iOS: Not responding or does not turn on
- Also try DFU mode after try recovery mode
How to put iPod touch / iPhone into DFU mode « Karthik's scribblings
- If not successful and you can't fully turn the iOS device fully off, let the battery fully drain. After charging for an least an hour try the above again.
- Try another cable
- Try on another computer
- If still not successful that usually indicates a hardware problem and an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is in order.

Will non-universal-binary Logic+plugins run on an Intel Mac?

Hi,
this may sound like a dumb question, but I haven't found a straightforward answer on this question yet: will my Logic 7.1 (not Universal Binary) install on an Intel-Mac?? Our local Mac store expected that Rosatta will take care of everything, and that only performance will suffer a bit.
That would mean that all non-universal-binary plugins would run, too??!!

It seems you're more informed than your local dealer, :o)
Rosetta will not handle the plug-ins & third party (AU) need the (U B) upgrades. You need the 7.2 (U. Binary) to run logic on the new Intel machines.

Ok. You don't have to select your number. Just check your email under your "grey" number and then at the bottom of this page you will see the option "Start new conversations from". Select your number.

Sounds like it is time to take it back to Apple and ask them to repair it for you.

Sounds like the dock port on your iPhone has a problem. It is in warranty so you will need to get it serviced.

Non-Universal Apps won't launch on Intel Macs with Unsanity's App Enhancer

I just got a new Intel MacBook Pro and ran into a problem with lauching non-Universal apps. When I tried to launch them, their icon would bounce once or twice in the dock, and then nothing. After many hours and a call to Apple support without any luck, I started searching tis support forum, and found an old post with something about a problem with Unsanity's products (WindowShade & others). It turns out that their Application Enhancer component was the problem. Unsanity claims it is due to a bug in OS X that Apple hasn't fixed yet. Be that as it may, Unsanity has been very responsible in providing a fix, located in the App Enhancer Preference Pane under System Prefs. Just open the prefs and push on the button labled "Rosetta Troubleshooting". That problem solved.
Unfortunately, App Enhancer still seems to wreak havoc with Palm's HotSync Manager.

You will find that Unsanity's "fix" doesn't always work. If you install FruitMenu you will find many PPC apps fail to launch regardless of the fix. In that case open APE and turn FruitMenu off temporarily. Also click on the Excluded Apps tab and drag the PPC app you want to run into the list box.
Finally, if that doesn't help (although it should) then open the Terminal and at the prompt enter the following command line pressing return at the end:
sudo killall translated
You will be asked to authenticate by entering your admin password. It will not be echoed.

I have same problem, been using a macbook 13" for nearly 9 years but it was failing so I bought a macbook pro 15" and after having problems and error messages when trying to download loops ( I finally went to the App Store and opened garageband from there which install some loops), it finally downloaded some but not all the loops that my jam packs had, also I have tons of non-apple loops that I purchased over the years but I want to know if they will work on my new mac ?

Has worked intermittently but now cannot see or respond in that particular chain. Can send independently to the non iPhone (Samsung) but not in group. Other iPhone 6 and 5 in group work fine.

The reason why you have to turn off 3Gs is because T-Mobile does not support iPhones 1700 something or other. You have to turn off the 3Gs on the iPhone to make it work.
As already provided, it shouldn't matter since the iPhone is designed to automatically connect to the fastest internet connection available. If wi-fi access and 3G network access is on, when in range of an available wi-fi network you have access to and have connected your iPhone with previously, the iPhone will connect to the wi-fi network automatically. When leaving the range of the wi-fi network, the iPhone will connect to the 3G network if 3G network access is available. If 3G network access is not available, the iPhone will connect to EDGE or GPRS - whichever is available at the time.
If this is unique to T-Mobile's network with the iPhone for some reason since T-Mobile is not an official carrier for the iPhone in the U.S. and you were instructed by T-Mobile to do so, then you need to do so.
If this is not working now, the problem lies with T-Mobile and I have no idea what to tell them for them to recognize where the problem lies on their end.

hi Chevaux - Welcome to apple discussions!
i dont know how resource-intensive those apps are but you can certainly run them. if they are not universal binary they'll operate through an emulation layer called Rosetta. there's a performance penalty there, but if the app is not intensive in the first place, and/or you've maxxed out the RAM, you might very well not notice the penalty at all...
i assume the same comments apply to non-UB widgets, but as i abhor Dashboard i don't use it at all.......

The 2nd Gen Nano does only work with Apples universal dock.
For this product, you will find an adapter.
If you (like me) have purchased a Nano (1st Gen) dock - aka the small dock without audio/video/ir - then the 2nd Gen Nano does NOT fit in. The connector is slightly shifted and due to the round edges, you cannot insert it.
