Thank you for your response, which I have not tried because after I had posted my question it occured to me that I had not at that stage run the"HP Print and Scan Doctor" program which is downloadable from HP. Having run this program the problem dissapeared. Thank you for your interest.

Ever since installation of OSX Lion, I've been having freeze-up problems on my early 2011 MacBook Pro. Increased the RAM from 4GB to 8GB. Amazingly, when I have Mail and Chrome open, almost all of the RAM is consumed. Even with all programs closed, I only have about 3 GB of free space. Any ideas as to what the problem is?

Mail under Lion (your profile says 10.5) is always busy and doesn't like large email database I hear.
Chrome and Safari don't clear their history and cache, lack quota on how many days and disk use, so clear those out. This is where I do use CCleaner on Mac as well as Wndows.
I keep reading from 10.6 on that even closing (quit) does not release memory and threads galour that there are memory leaks that you have to repair permissions, even restart, and poor memory management for many people's systems (often laptops).
Free RAM is wasted RAM though. Even 3GB seems excessive. This is not OS 9 or 1999.
but I found that 4-core 4GB RAM was fine except for handling large photo libraries.

HT2515 My cam works fine with every program except yahoo. If I just sign into yahoo or even if I use ichat for yahoo, the webcam button will not highlight up. How can I fix this and/or what am I doing wrong?

Hello, my father recently passed (using his ID) and I took over the payments on his mac and took his computer. I am not that familiar with mac, but am usually computer savy. However, this one has me stumped. I have no problem starting the built in cam and it seems to work fine with all other programs I've tried using it with. However, it will not work with yahoo. Whether I use normal yahoo messenger or if I try using Yahoo through I chat. The cam button will not light up, therefore, it is not clickable. Which ultimately means I cannot use my cam on yahoo, which is something I use 99% of the time compared to other programs. So why is this happening and what solutions can I take to try and fix this? The mac I am using is: Mac OS X, Version 10.7.4

1) If the iTunes preference window is open when you connect your iPod, the iPod will not be recognized by iTunes.
Also, iPods can work with many iTunes libraries, so that is not the problem here.
Is all the software on your computer up to date?

Does the iPod show up in My Computer when connected to your computer? Does it say Do Not Disconnect?

2) What part aren't you understanding. Here are a couple of free programs you can use to convert videos...
MPEG Streamclip
Videora iPod Converter
The programs should come with documentation and instructions to convert videos.
3) You can go to file-->add file to library, file-->add folder to library, or have iTunes open and drag the files into the iTunes library while viewing the library.. You can also import from CDs.
iTunes needs to be adding the songs to the iPod. You cannot just add the song files to the iPod.

Will Time Machine backup ALL programs on my Mac Book Pro. I have one with Snow Leapard and one with Lion. As well as an older
Power Book G4 with Snow Leapard? I want to be able to put All programs back on them if it becomes necessary. Thanks for any help!!

Time Machine backs up everything that isn't specifically excluded.

I have rebooted the computer; repaired disk permissions; deleted and added the 6110 back; dowloaded the HP printer drivers and manually installed them; deleted printer and reinstalled printer drivers; repaired permissions again.
Almost everytime I print, the printer does not actuate and I get an "inkjet error." Then I just print again and it works fine. However, it will not scan and although it shows up in SystemPreferencec>Printers and Scanners, it does not show up in Image Capture or Preview>Import from Scanner.
I also have an Epson GT-S50 scanner. It scans perfectly without any problem.
I just changed machines to a new iMac from my earlier Mac Pro. The 6110 worked fine with the Mac Pro running Mavericks.
Here's the kicker: Although the scanner does not show up under ImageCapture or Preview or when R-clicking the installed printer window, it seems to work fine with the scanning software named VueScan. Under VueScan it shows up as an OfficeJet 6105 but seems to work ok.
I want to use the native scanning software, however.
I don't know what to do next.

Cannot print with all-in-one

I cannot print with my all-in-one because I have a print-job in th queue, and when I attempt to cancel it , it simply will not cancel, but remains in the queue. I think this happened when I was printing from the internet and a nearby lightning stike disrupted the printing.

Have you tried to shut down the computer and printer and then turning them on again??

Printer aligns BUT only with Black and Blue all other diagnostics print with all colours

Initially when installed the printer REFUSED to align, took 7 attempts (OK I have heard of Einsteins quote !). Each time I used the printer screen to ALIGN PRINTER - the process failed. So I looked on the web, and:
Cleaned the cartridges,
Cleared the vents
Removed and cleaned the printhead
Prayed
Tried again
All to no avail, so then I tried doing the diagnostics via the PC software, and here the mystery deepened.
When running the HP Photosmart B210 Series tool box I got three differing results from the three printing options
A Print Quality Diagnostics Page gave me Ba full five colour printout
Align Printheads gave me black and blue lies/boxes/grids and the Alignement Successful message
Print Diagnostic info gave me all four colours with lots of meaningful info including the 73 Print head Calibration COnfidence Level:0
Any Ideas ANYONE, before I bin this and buy a Kodak or Epson in disgust

What exactly is the issue? The alignment aligns the color printhead to black printhead, and only one color (cyan for your printer) and black are needed for that. (There is likely an additional set of blocks that prints gray blocks fading to white. This section is used to calibrate the energy for the colors.) The other test pages you printed will print various diagnostic or test pages which will use all the colors.
A successful alignment page requires the page be printed on unused white paper and requires that the black and cyan sections are printing properly.

Officejet Pro 8600 Plus prints with some programs, but not others.

I have a new Officejet Pro 8600 Plus connected with an Apple Airport Extreme. My iPad and Dell will print without problems. My MacBookPro using OS 10.6.8 will print iPhoto and Excell when using Parallels. It will not print using Appleworks or Office for the Mac. The Mac recognizes the printer and will print the test page. When told to print in Appleworks, the computer says it is printing, but nothing is happening.

I understand you are able to print from an iPad and Dell PC with the Officejet 8600, but unable to from your Mac 10.6.8. Since it will print from the other sources it would appear to me that the printer software is not installed correctly on the Mac.
Try uninstalling the printer software, when you are running the HP Uninstaller, just prior to clicking uninstall I would like you to hold down the Control, Option & Command button then click uninstall.
When ready to install the printer, HP Officejet Pro Full Feature Software and Driver - Mac OS X 10.6, OS X 10.7, OS X 10.8.

Printing with parallels program

have 2 questions..i just installed parallels with xp pro and i am trying to printing from a program well in xp. my printer is connected with usb and it shows that it is connected through the virtual machine but nothing is printing. how do i do this.
also when i connected a flash drive again it shows that it is connected through the virtual pc but i can't find it in my computer to open and access the files.
thank you i am new to this so any help would be great.

You might want to post on Parallels' support site for more details, but here's what I can tell you:
Shot down Windows, but don't close Parallels. Once the virtual machine has stopped, go to the Edit menu and choose Virtual Machine. There is an option you check in the USB controller section that says "Connect USB devices automatically". That should help, if not, again try the Parallels support site. Cheers!

Firefox 3.6.3 will not print a full web page. IE will print with no problem.

Firefox won't print a full web page. When I check the print preview, it only shows what will print and the whole page is not displayed. I tried resetting my printer in about:config and that never helped.
I am stumped and need help to resolve this please.

How can i access my old correspondense with old password in Mozilla Thunderbird? How can i check out from my password?

I had my website moved to other hosting. Accordingly, i changed a password, and when i checked in on my computer the first time with a new password, i stupidly checked the box "remember me on this computer", but i lost access to all my old emails that were laying in Thunderbird on my PC. How can i check out from the current password and log in with the old one so that i could access my old correspondense?

Subscribed folders download headers only and when you select to read an email, it is retrieved from the server and stored in a temporary cache to faciltate quick access to reading.
These emails are not stored in your Thunderbird profile folders on your computer, so would not be visible if you changed to 'offline' mode. They are stored on the server.
If you did not synchronise those subscribed folders then a copy was never stored in your Thunderbird profile imap mail account.
As you have modified the IMAP mail account and it is currently accessing the new hosting server, so cannot display anything on a different server, I would leave it alone because it is working just fine.
What you could try is to create a new IMAP mail account with server settings to the old host server using the old password.
File > New > exisitng mail account
Enter name, email address and password
click on 'Continue'
If you do manage to get access, then synchronise the subscribed folders to get a copy downloaded to Thunderbird Profile folders. As those folders are constantly updating to match the server, once you have the emails downloaded, go into 'offline' mode and move them into 'Local Folders'; you will need to make new folders in Local Folders account for those emails.
However, it is possible that you may not get access as that contract has ended. There is no obligation for the old host company to keep your emails if you do not have an account with them. In which case those emails will be lost.
After creating new imap mail account, if you get access do as advised to get emails into Local Folders, once emails are in Local folders you can remove/delete the imap mail account. If it does not work, you can delete the imap mail account.

Newbie...recreate transaction code with all programs

Hi all,
I have a Z transaction in R3P that was created by someone directly in that environment (never created in R3D or R3Q)...
I have been asked to recreate it in R3D and then transport it through the landscape.
I have never written an ABAP program or create a transaction code before (I'm a BW guy). Can someone give me detailed step-by-step or point me to an online resource...?

You do not have to worry @ the chain of programs being called from the TCODE.
Goto SE93 in Production client
Enter the TCode
Click on Display
It will list the name of program & screen no. along with variant(if any).
Create a new session in Development client
Execute transaction SE93
Type the Tcode
Click Create
Enter the package & transport description
Enter the program name & screen no. along with Variant(if there was any)
Click on Save
Thats it.
The program which you have mentioned in SE93 will take care of calling subsequent program.
1) What screen is used for display and creation of programs?
For report program its 1000. For other programs, you can check the screen no. from SE93 in production client
2) How do I know within a program what other programs are referenced?
This is not required. SAP will take care of calling subsequent programs

What would be the easiest base station to set up a shared DSL internet connection between an older OS 9 with a new OS X powerbook? Both have wireless cards and latest updates.

SAPScript / Smartform printing with all #

Hi,
I am facing a strange problem while printing Script and Smart forms.
We are using QM02 transaction to print the deviation form and MRDR form.
Deviation form is a script and MRDR is a smartform.
The problem is, when i executed the QM02 and print any one of the form It was printing fine.
After that if i select the second one to print it was printing all # s.
I tried debugging the script i am getting the message 'Character is not defined in the current font Helve 100'.
Can any one explain, why this is happening?

some of charcter formats are missing , can you check what are missing, and if some cases the values are not coming to display its dispaly the # insted of the data. if you have any space in the database table level that time also display the #.
when you print the scond time there is no values , close the session and start agagin it will display the data.

Burned CD will play on all machines except Bose Acoustic Wave

I regularly burn CDs (music purchased on iTune) on my Mac. I can play the CDs (-R) on all machines including the player in my car, my PC at work, the CD player at the gym but they will not play on my Bose Acoustic Wave at home. Any ideas?

CD-RW disks are unreliable as audio CDs. Try a good
brand of CD-R disks and see if you have better luck
with those.
And you'll want to confirm that your car's player
supports burned CDs; not all players do.
Thanks for your reply. I have three SONY CD players (one is for recording to a minidisc) and every one of them misplays that song. They are all supposed to play CD-RW discs. I have used the TDK CDs before on iTunes but only certain songs seem to go wacky -- it's like a voodoo curse on those songs!! Why do 99% of the songs play correctly but 1% will not?
