Hi,
That depends on your USB device. If this USB device is not available for using ReadyBoost, then it will show you a message like this under the ReadyBoost tab:

  • I am getting an error message that "no photos could be found on this device" when I plug in my ipad to my windows 8.  I open the dcim folder and it shows up empty, although I clearly have photos on my ipad.  I was able to do this just last week.  HELP!

Help, I am trying to get my pictures from my ipad to my computer (windows 8) and I get the message that "no photos could be found on this device."  When I try to open the dcim folder, it shows up empty.  What can I do?  I have previously been able to import pictures easily.

Hi, I had the same problem. I finally figured it out. Plug in the USB cord to your ipad, but beofre plugging it into your computer make sure your ipad is not in the locked or sleep mode. Once I did this, my photos showed up and started downloading. Hope that helps you!

  • How do I stop iPhoto from opening when i plug in my iPhone?

How do I stop Iphoto from opening when I plug in my Iphone?

Having the preference in iPhoto makes perfect sense to me.  After all, iPhoto is the application that opens.  You would expect that is where you should provide some guidance not to open.
What puzzles me much more is why you would post this comment more than 18 months after wjosten answered the original question.

    See:
iOS: Device not recognized in iTunes for Windows
    I would start with:
Removing and reinstalling iTunes, QuickTime, and other software components for Windows Vista or Windows 7

Because you are trying to go to icloud.com using Safari on your iPad.  You have to go to icloud.com from your computer browser.

  • Error message 'An unknown error occurred (-50)' It repeats this message when I plug my iPhone

When I open iTunes, I get the error message 'unknown error has occurred (-50)' It repeat this message when I plug my iPhone in and it will not let me sync!! Please help, I think this began after an update of iTunes, but it has not resolved after trying to revert to the earlier version.

    Hi, Hoofin22.
Thank you for visiting Apple Support Communities.
Here are a couple articles that provide some helpful troubleshooting steps for error -50.  Also make sure the most current version of iTunes is installed.
iTunes Store: "Error (-50)" when downloading purchased content
    http://support.apple.com/kb/TS1583
iTunes: Specific update-and-restore error messages and advanced troubleshooting
    http://support.apple.com/kb/TS3694
    Error 13, 14, 35 and 50 (or -50)
These errors are typically resolved by performing one or more of the steps listed below:
Perform USB isolation troubleshooting, including trying a different USB port directly on the computer. See the advanced steps below for USB troubleshooting.
Put a USB 2.0 hub between the device and the computer.
Try a different Dock Connector or Lightning Connector to USB cable.
    Eliminate third-party security software conflicts.
There may be third-party software installed that modifies your default packet size in Windows by inserting one or more TcpWindowSize entries into your registry. An incorrectly set default packet size can cause this error. Contact the software manufacturer that installed the packet-size modification for assistance. Or, follow this article by Microsoft to reset the packet size back to the default for Windows:How to reset Internet Protocol (TCP/IP).
Connect your computer directly to your Internet source, bypassing any routers, hubs, or switches. You may need to restart your computer and modem to get online.
Try to restore from another known-good computer and network.
    Hope that helps,
    Jason H.

  • Stop Photos from Launching when Iphone plugged it

I would like to stop the Photos application from launching every time I plug my iPhone into my computer.  There was a way to do it with iPhoto but I cannot seem to find a way with this new Photo app.  Has anyone figured it out or have I missed finding the instruction somewhere?
    Thanks

With your iPhone connected, let Photos launch one more time.
Enter the key combination ⌥⌘S to reveal the sidebar.
In the sidebar select your iPhone.
Disable the checkmark "Open Photos for this device":
    Then quit Photos.
Do the same in Image Capture, if necessary.
    In Image Capture:
The option has to be set for each device individually. With the device connected to USB, you have to click the tiny disclosure triangle in the lower left corner of the sidebar to reveal the option.

  • How do I stop photos from launching when I plug in camera

Can't find anything in the preferences that will stop this new app from launching when I plug in cameras or phones.

Plug in and let it load, then click on the camera/phone on the left hand pane and uncheck the box:
You should also be able to do this via Image Capture (in the Applications Folder) but I haven't tested it specifically.

  • Stop WMP10 from starting when I plug in Zen Visio

When I plug in my Zen Vision M, Windows Media Player 0 starts up and starts synchronizing. I want a totally different program to come up -- or NO PROGRAM AT ALL!?I can't find a way to do this with the zen. I went into WMP settings and said don't synchronize. It ignores me. I tried going to windows explorer and changing device properties, but that tab is not available.

OK, under Windows Media Player, SYNC SETTINGS, I found a menu that allows me to change syncing from automatic to manual. So now the syncing doesn't occur when I plug in the device. But Windows Media Player 0 STILL opens, and I don't want it to. I'd rather have nothing open, or else a program of my choosing. Just to be clear, here's a copy of my post at experts exchange:?*****When I plug in my Zen Vision M, Windows Media Player 0 opens. (For technical reasons I need to use WMP version 0, NOT or beyond.)
I want a totally different program to come up -- or NO PROGRAM AT ALL! -- when I plug in the zen player.
I can't find a way to do this with the zen. ?I went into WMP settings and said don't synchronize, which worked. ?But when I go into the device properties, there's no menu for choosing which program opens with the device. You don't get the usual menus under windows explorer. ?
In fact, the only way I can get to a device properties menu at all is to plug in the device, and then go to Zen Media Explorer (which is a shortcut / device under Windows Explorer). The device appears there as a sub-folder, and has a properties menu. But again, this menu doesn't allow for choosing which programs run when the device is plugged in.
I found a check box that said "show zen in windows explorer as portable device". I checked this and restarted explorer. But all the menus / choices for this are the same as for the above "Zen Media Explorer"
Likewise I looked under Dev Mgr properties -- there's a properties menu, but no where to choose which program runs when device is plugged in.

  • I receive this message when I plug in my Samsung Continuum phone. "The disk you inserted was not readable by this computer." How do I download my photos?

I have checked usb debugging and chosen mount the device when prompted by the phone. I have tried to mount without debugging chosen and the same message pops up. Initializing my phone is not an option.. Choosing ignore does just that - nothing happens. At this point I cannot download music to my phone nor download phots from my phone to my mac. Thanks.

Thanks for your quick response. I had a look at your discussion... I tried it on a Windows machine and I thought that was compatible with ExFAT?
Therefore I need to attempt to use my external hard drive with a machine that boasts OS X 10.6.5 or above and then it should work?
    Thanks

  • HT5649 When I am playing radio it only plays for a time then stops.  This is when I am using it on my iPhone 4s.Is there something I am missing to have this keep happening?  It doesn't cut off on the computer like it does on the phone.  I am able to switc

I am new to the iPhone 4s but do enjoy the radio from iTunes.  I like to listen with a headset but it seems to cut off after playing a bit.  I can change stations and it will again play for a while and yet again stop.  I am puzzled as to why this is.  It doesn't do this if I play off the computer.  I think I am doing something wrong but have no idea what?  I am a bit "tech" challenged so any advise would be appreciated.

    Hello LindaHarp,
It sounds like you are listening to iTunes Radio and it stops shortly after you start listening. I recommend starting by signing out of your iTunes account in Settings > iTunes & App Stores. Then close all the running apps on the device:
iOS: Force an app to close
    http://support.apple.com/kb/ht5137
    Double-click the Home button.
Swipe left or right until you have located the app you wish to close.
Swipe the app up to close it.
When you have done that and restart the phone and test the issue by signing back in to your account, and testing again:
iOS: Turning off and on (restarting) and resetting

Thank you for using Apple Support Communities.
    All the best,

  • What happened to the icon "Stop loading this page", when I downloaded the newest version of Foxfire?

In the previous edition of Foxfire, an arrow pointing clockwise was located near the 'back' - 'forward' button. This Stop Loading Page icon has disappeared. I liked that feature--it was helpful. How can I retrieve this feature?
It's late. I'll check my email for the answer tomorrow (5-31-11).
    Thank you.

You either have to buy iPhoto again, or sign in with your old Apple ID.

  • Explain "replace information on this device" when syncing outlook with ipad

Is it possible to create a situation where changes to the calendar on an Ipad and different changes to the outlook calendar will sync with each other and not create duplicate entries?

I can totally agree with you. I had this problem since the first time I tried synching my iPhone 3G at that time and have given up trying to sync Outlook items such a calendars and/or contacts. In my case almost all of my events either duplicated and times changed, contacts has conflicts or were duplicated. I stopped syncing my calendar and contact infotmation with Outlook and am using my iPhone/iPad as my primary source for contact/calendar management.

  • IPod stopped sync. just sync when you plug another USB device, e.g pendrive

As weird as it may seem all my iPods (i have 2 old Nanos, 2 new Nanos, one Shuffle and one Touch)stopped syncing. iTunes recognizes them without a problem. I can configure them to sync to a particular playlist but nothing really happens.
After a lot a work (plugged them in another PC to have 'em erased and all; reinstalled iTunes 9, etc) I just found out the strangest behavior: if I click Sync it takes a long time and nothing really happens. If I do it again anfd plug another USB device (like a pendrive) then sync goes smoothly.
Not sure why.. all I know is that I love the hardware but hate the software.
Maybe if I reinstall my PC the issue will go away...
    Any ideas???

It's probably not a problem with the shuffle.  Your computer's USB bus may not be providing enough power for all of your connected USB devices.  A typical USB mouse and keyboard are low-power devices, so you must have other devices connected...?  An iPod, because it charges battery from the USB port, is a high-power device.
I use a powered USB hub.  The hub has its own power supply.  I have the hub connected to the computer, and most of my devices, like iPods, iPhone, flash drives, etc. connect to the hub.  I use the USB ports on the computer for things I leave connected more or less permanently, such as printer and external drive.
Since the hub has its own power supply, devices connected to it do not draw power from the computer's USB bus.  So that is important.  Some cheaper USB hubs are not self-powered; they are powered by the computer's USB port.  I use an older version of this one
    http://eshop.macsales.com/item/NewerTech/USB2HB7PRO/
but there are many options.  Just get one that has its own power supply.
