[win 8] itunes not detecting iphone in DFU mode for restore/recovery

Here is the story:
Had my iphone 6 plus for about a month now. Today I hooked it up to my windows 8 machine and itunes (both fully updated to latest versions).
Phone was detected fine, so I ran a full sync and backup to my local machine with itunes. No problem its all good.
Then went to the updates section and it said I had a new one (8.1.2 or whatever I cant remember)
I ran it, in itunes while the device was connected.
It downloaded and was going through the install process... then the screen on my phone went to the "connecting to itunes" graphic (with the cord and the itunes app icon). Thats where it sat.
So now it no longer appeared as a device in itunes either.
OK... went to the forums.
1) Tried all the reboots and uninstalls/reinstalls
2) Tried booting and connecting in "Recovery mode" (default now as all I see is that connecting screen)
3) Tried booting and connecting in DFU mode
Neither mode was detecting the device with itunes but I am getting the chimes of connection for windows itself.
I do see the device in my windows system hardware under "unspecified" as "Apple Mobile Device USB Driver" (and when i view details its model shows either Recovery or DFU mode depending on how I booted the device)
So here I am... stuck with a phone in either DFU mode OR recovery mode on a botched ios update and itunes wont detect it on windows 8.x
What can I do ?
Looking for some creative or outside the box ideas here. I just want a reset and restore of the backup I made on local itunes today.
If I can get the device back to even a factory reset, I am hoping itunes will detect it properly and can run a restore from it local storage.
Really stuck and been on this for hours now.

Hello joeldevil,
I know you have tried uninstalling and a reinstall of iTunes, but have you checked out the additional troubleshooting steps to check the drivers to make sure that they are installed. There is also a section for what to do when your iPhone is in recovery mode and not seen in iTunes. One more thing you can try is to try your restore in another user.

  • IPhone DFU trouble: iTunes not detecting iPhone

I've just picked up a replacement iPhone 4 after experiencing faults with my previous handset. I went through the process of backing up my phone from my last iTunes sync, and was then prompted to update the firmware to 4.3.[whateverTheLatestVersionIs]. For whatever reason, that firmware update failed; there was an error code, but I wasn't switched on enough to note it down a the time (I know, I know...).
iTunes would no longer detect the phone, and the phone was stuck on the "Connect to iTunes" screen. So, I followed instructions to put the phone into DFU mode; this worked to a point - a Windows notification balloon popped up saying that Windows had detected an iPhone in DFU mode - so far so good. However, iTunes did not detect the phone. I have cycled in and out of DFU mode, restarted iTunes, restarted my machine and even shouted at the iPhone, but I've had no luck in getting iTunes to detect it.
Anyone have any suggestions? I'd get myself to a Genius Bar if I could, but won't be able to before I go away for a long weekend tomorrow night; I'd like to have my phone working for this if possible...
    Can anyone help?
    Setup:
    iPhone 4
    iTunes 10.4.0.80
    Windows XP Professional, SP3

Incidentally, the Windows balloon no longer pops up when I cycle in and out of DFU mode (although I am sure that I am managing to cycle in and out of DFU mode..)

As the title says, I cannot get this itunes to detect my ******* iphone and its been a week and no help.  I'd appreciated it if people would not copy paste a garbage link on troubleshooting because I TRIED THEM ALL AND NONE WORKS.
Tried reinstalling everything apple, tried updating my iphone using another computer, tried updating driver (but it wont because its already updated!), tried restarting the service (apple mobile) but it wont restart once I stop it because it says "the apple mobile device service on local computer started and the stopped."
Who do I have to call with a very angry voice to get this **** to work? I tried everything, I am tired... someone for the love of god help.
    PS,
Don't say its my firewall / anti virus because ITS NOT, it has been working for the longest time ever with them and it even detects my 120GB iPod but not my iPhone or my brothers iTouch.

I managed to update the driver but now I cannot see the ipod under My Computer OR itunes

  • Itunes not detecting iphones but detecting ipod

I have re-installed iTunes on Windows XP but it does not detect any of two iPhones 4, but it does detect my iPod.  The camera wizard does, howver, detect both iPhones as cameras. Apart from re-installing iTunes I have also stopped and restarted the Apple Mobile Device Service and following up on another lead on the web deleted Bonjour, but still no iPhone detection.

  • ITunes not detecting iPhone 5, Windows 7 64Bit

Hey, so I have had this issue for a while now where iTunes simply won't detect my iPhone. I have tried the following:
    1. Rolling back to an earlier version.
    2. Following Apple's uninstall guide:
    iTunes
    QuickTime
    Apple Software Update
    Apple Mobile Device Support
    Bonjour
Apple Application Support (iTunes 9 or later)
Then restart and reinstall (done this twice, installed older version and the latest)
    3. Done step 2 but also deleted this registry key which is left over after uninstall:
    [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\SharedDlls]
    "C:\\Program Files\\iPod\\bin\\iPodService.exe"=dword:80000000
None of these techniques are working. Currently i'm using iTunes 12.1.1.4 64-Bit on Windows 7 64-Bit, using iOS 8.2. The issue could lie with a service which refuses to start called: Apple Mobile Device Service. When every I try to Start the service I get the error:
The Apple Mobile Device Service service on Local Computer started and then stopped. Some services stop automatically if they are not in use by other services or programs.
Again, I have uninstalled and re-installed this multiple times and still not luck. Anyone got any ideas on what is going wrong!?

I've tried everything, from restarting my macbook pro and my iphone, as well as uninstallig and installing itunes. I have no idea what to do next. I just got all this music and want to add a playlist to my phone. Help!

in case someone needs more info. i am running mac os x 10.8.5 and have upgraded both my iphone 5 and my itunes. i have tried just about every troubleshooting guide. the cord works because when i plug it in it vibrates cause it's charging, but it does not appear under devices or anywhere, not sure if it is being detected as a camera or not. nothing seems to indicate that that is working either.

  • ITunes not detecting iPhone 4S when using Remote app

I'm running on Windows 7 and I have used this app before. When I reformated my PC, this app doesn't seem to work anymore. When I select "Add an iTunes Library", no devices is shown on iTunes. The PC and iPhone are connected on the same network and I have tried restarting the router. I have also checked for exception in the firewall. None of these work.
    Any ideas?

    Hy there,
In order for you to solve this problem you have to follow these stept if your running windows:
1'st step is to go into the device manager
2 step is to go to portable devices (it is rught under network adapters)
3 step is to right clic apple iphone and click update drivers
4 step is to brows your drivers from C:\Program Files\Common Files\Apple\Mobile Device Support\Drivers
After that your itunes will pump up alown and youl see your iphone right there.
Good luck and sry for my bad righting.

  • ITunes not detecting iPhone anymore

    Hi,
I updated iTunes to ver 9.1.0.79 and now I can no longer see my iPhone. I painfully went thru these 2 links (sequentially) but no luck:
    http://support.apple.com/kb/TS1567
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1925
Any thoughts on how I can get it back?
    Thanks

I usually find this is a driver corruption issue.
I would go into your systems hardware settings and uninstall the iphone (ususlaly under USB devices).
Disconnect the iPhone off the PC and then reconnect. The PC should locate the device and reinstall the driver.
    Hope this works for you!
    Peter
