  • Windows 10 Factory Settings/Recovery Partion Question

I have a question, I upgraded my Aspire E 17 laptop to Windows 10 2 days ago. would there be a way to put my computer back to factory settings with the Acer Recovery Management no longer working. And I noticed that i have a recovery partion that is 14 GB, Would that be Window 10 in the recovery partion or Window 8.1 in that Partion

Hi BookHog92, With regards to the Acer recovery Management, you don't have to worry about it if it's not installed in your laptop or it doesn't like to work anymore; because you still can use the manual option to restart your laptop/computer to the Factory Settings; you can check this link where I did explain before how to fix this problem and for sure it will work for you as it can help all users whose using Windows 8/8.1 & 10 : Click here : How to Reset your Acer Lapotop/Computer to Factory Settings Or by following the instruction below which is almost the same : Step 1: Refresh your desktop and click on : Ctrl+Alt+Del  Step 2: Click on the power button; the menu will show you: Sleep | Restart | Shutdown : You hold the shift button on your keyboard and you press the Restart option and don't release the shift key until it open for you another window.   Step 3: Now you release the shift key and you click on Reset your PC.  Step 4: Now you click next and you will be directed to the same step of choosing which method of reset you want:   After that you choose the fully clean option to reset your PC to the factory settings however make sure before you do all this steps to copy or transfer your files to an external HDD because this operation will erase all you files and data. Best regards, Mehdi --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------If i was helpful to you, please give a KUDOS is appreciated and please mark "Accept as Solution", if that solved your problem.

  • Problem with Windows 8 Recovery

I'm trying to upgrade my K450 with an SSD by doing a clean install. Here are the steps I've taken:
    1. Created a recovery USB drive from the original Windows 8 install on the factory hard drive.
    2. Turned PC off.
    3. Removed factory hard drive.
    4. Connected SSD.
    5. Plugged in USB Recovery Drive.
    5. Turned PC on.
    6. Went into BIOS, updated Boot Sequence for the USB drive to boot first. Saved changes and restarted.
    7. After the Windows 8 recovery booted from the USB drive, I selected "Reset Your PC".
After a few seconds, I then get the message "A required drive partition is missing" and my only option is to cancel.
After a bunch of research told me that it might have something to do with the SATA mode (IDE or AHCI) or with the Boot Mode (UEFI or Legacy) I tried every combination of those settings and the recovery drive didn't boot or I got the same message.
I'm at my wit's end. Can anyone offer any suggestions? Do you know if the message referring to a missing partition on the SSD or on the recovery drive?  I assume it's the recovery drive as I get the message before I've even gotten around to selecting a destination drive/partition for the install. Even still I've tried it with the SSD partitioned, partitioned and formatted, and  unpartitioned,
If it's referring to a missing partition on the recovery drive, what is it expecting? I mean it already managed to boot from the recovery drive...what else does it need?
    Thanks in advance.

  • Dx2400 - How to deploy boot.wim from recovery partion using WAIK

I have 2 dx2400 Microtowers.  They came with Windows Vista business 32bit and at some point were upgraded to Windows 7 Pro.  The Recovery partions are intact but can not be accessed with F11 to restore the Vista OS and recovery media was not made.  One is a dual boot.  I found the HP Backup and Recovery Manager soctware folder under SWSETUP.  It does not appear to have been installed, but it will not install claiming it needs 61GB of space (used portion of disk) and I only have 18GB available.  Not sure why it is sizing the recovery before the install of the app.   I have a second 500GB drive, but it does not see this, and I see no option to install it there.http://h20331.www2.hp.com/Hpsub/cache/312352-0-0-225-121.html I have the following files in the recovery partition:WINRE.WIM 179.848KBBoot.WIM    179,848KBHP_WINRE 1KBMaster.log.copy  549KBboot.sdi  3.96kb I think the WINRE.WIM is a copy that I made some time ago in an attempt to get the System Recovery Disk to recgonize the file. I also have the Win7 WAIK installed and have made a WinPE Boot Drive.  I tried to look at the WINRE.WIM file via the WAIK and it told me that I was missing a catalog file.  This may not be a problem, but before I delete a working partion, I thought I would check out how this should work. I recall something about HP tools differing from Windows tools and not sure what I have.   The goal is deply the WIM file to the C:\ partion as a new install of Vista.   Any suggestions on how to proceed?

    Hi
he causes may be the following things.
    1. The System files are corrupt.
    2. The disk File system has bad configuration.
    3. Hardware fault.
To boot into Windows Recovery environment, we need the recovery image or partition in your computer or the installation disk.
Try performing the Hard drive test from F2 and run the test.
Let us know how it goes!

  • Windows vista recovery error CTOERROR.flg and following that error 0x643 while installing update

    Hi All
    system info : HP LAPTOP DV6 -1256tx , windows vista sp1 32 bit
When I am trying to install windows vista sp1 from recovery disks/partition I am getting the error from recovery manager prompting me to choose either to retry or see the details for failure : CTOERROR.flg in form of notepad on my desktop. I have done retry 100 times but to no avail. I cannot restart after this recovery failure message as it shows dialog box on restart: windows security update is not installed successfully or is not trusted. So, i have to go through recovery process again to see the desktop (everything functioning - internet, video, music all) but only once.
Last time i got this message too . When i did installing windows from recovery disks few months back, that time  i figured out to install all imp. updates  through  automatic  windows update. All the updates were installed successfully and then it restarted and gone through process of language settings, time settings and all....
But this time when i am trying to update windows, i am getting windows update error 0x643 which is for security update for .net framewrok 3.5 sp1 and family update.I do know the answer how to get away with this error from "windows help" and also from this forum too, which asks for installing .net framework updates from windows update site directly. But the problem is:
Windows update ask me to restart after automatic or manual windows update installation takes place and restart causes problem as it shows dialog box - windows security update is not installed successfully . I need to install all updates in one go like last time from my understanding.:
    1. So if i install windows update (to try my luck as last time) it shows 0x643 error for .net framework and asks to restart and after that when i try to manually install failed updated 0x643 it asks me to restart the windows for pending updates.
    2. Alternatively, If i try to install failed update first just after recovery failure it won't allow me to install important updates for vista sp1 and asks to restart windows.
All i need is to successfully update all updates through windows automatic update which is not happening at the moment.
Not even able to upgrade to sp2 bcz it too restarts for installing.
    Please Help.
    Thanks in advance.

  • Windows 8 Recovery Issue On HP Laptops

I have an Envy 17t j000 that runs the Windows 8 operating system which I have upgraded to 8.1. Because why not.
About a month ago I have decided to do a system recovery at the end of my college semester. I preferred to do a Minimized System Recovery, however, I am unable to run the recovery partition while my computer is upgraded to Windows 8.1. So, my only solution was to use the recovery discs to downgrade it to Windows 8, and then do a Minimized System Recovery through the recovery parition. It had worked once before in 2013.
So here is where the issue actually began. After all three recovery discs have been used, as well as with and without the optional applications disc, the computer restarts on its own and goes into the installation process. After a long period of time the end result will be one of the following:
    Just a blank screen.
A blank screen, restart, HP logo, and repeat forever, as in entire day.
An error message showing that the "Recovery Has Failed".
I have talked to several HP technicians and have attempted the following:
I've ran the diagnostic for the HDD and the entire system and left it looping until error. All passed.
I received a new set of recovery discs from HP. Failed.
I was asked to change the date back to 2013 in the BIOS and to try the recovery again. Surprisingly the recovery was successful. However, I wanted to make sure so I tried again. Failed.
I was also asked to reset the BIOS to default. I ran the recovery again. Failed.
Eventually I sent in my laptop for repair as it is still in warrenty. A week later I received my laptop with Windows 8 preinstalled. I tried to recreate the problem by doing a recovery using the recovery parition. It worked. However, I also wanted to make sure the discs would work as well. Failed.
At some point, the laptop simply stopped responding when attempting to start a new recovery. It had enough I suppose. HP took in my laptop again for repair, but not before the technicians making me runs the same diagnostics again. One of the technicians mentioned that it could possibly be one of HP's BIOS update that is causing an issue for Windows 8 to install properly.
Anyway, the only other person I found to have a similar issue was this guy from last year.
    http://h30434.www3.hp.com/t5/Notebook-Recovery/HP-Windows-8-Recovery-Failed-Used-Recovery-Discs/td-p...
So I was wondering, is it just few people? I haven't really seen any other complains. Perhaps its only because not a lot of people do a recovery until something goes horribly wrong, in which case they will face the same issue I have.

So I'd installed win10 preview for my lumia 520 and it was not good enough for my daily using and i tried to downgrad it. there was an instruction after starting to flash that hol power key and volume - for 3 or 15 seconds and when you felt vibration hit the button to start the process...

when i used windows phone recovery it find my phone but it shows an error that restart your phone and try again

As farby said, did you get the updated version AND verify the versions number as explained in post linked to?
    AQUOTE FROM THE LINKED POST:
    User Expectations & Recovery efforts:
For users who have already unusable devices, we’re continuing to research this situation.  There is no guarantee that using this updated version of the tool will recover an already-bricked device.  If your device is showing the red Nokia logo, please do the following:
Ensure your device has a good power source (connected via USB cable that can transfer data and charge the device simultaneously)
Close the WPRT, re-open, and take the update to the new version of the WPRT.  The new version is1.2.4
Once he new version is installed, re-attempt the flashing process.
If your device is not recognized, click the "My phone was not detected" button and continue the attempted recovery process
If your device is on a blank/black screen and is unresponsive, you may attempt the same steps as listed above.  Devices that do not have the red Nokia logo on the screen are in a different state and will not have the same recovery rate should they be recoverable.  Please do try to recover and share your results.
So while the cause of the failure is know and the application is fixed there is no guarantee that a an already bricked phone will recover with the new version. Also I suggest you post your questions and results in the linked post as it is most likely the team working on this will post updates and see your responses.

  • Itunes keeps closing as soon as i open it and states 'windows has detected a problem' HELP!!!!

Help!! Itunes keeps closing straight away and message states 'windows has detected a problem' HELP ASAP PLEASE!!!!

For general advice see Troubleshooting issues with iTunes for Windows updates.
The steps in the second box are a guide to removing everything related to iTunes and then rebuilding it which is often a good starting point unless the symptoms indicate a more specific approach. Review the other boxes and the list of support documents further down page in case one of them applies.
Your library should be unaffected by these steps but there is backup and recovery advice elsewhere in the user tip.
If you've already tried a complete uninstall and reinstall try opening iTunes in safe mode (hold down CTRL+SHIFT as you start iTunes) then going to Edit > Preferences > Store and turning off Show iTunes in the Cloud purchases. You may find iTunes will now start normally.

  • Help me, pls! Getting Windows Error Recovery of windows 7

Hi, my computer is in problem. It's Windows Error Recovery. Then, I did the steps by computer,I clicked the Startup Repair(Recommanded). A startup repair window appears and it scans the problems. It's scanning, I waited for several hours.. but it's scanning and scanning endlessly! It says "recovering disk error, this might take over an hour to complete".. yeah, more than an hour, I waited for five hours, nothing changed..scanning and scanning... What should I do?....

    Hi,
Try tapping F8 on startup to check if it loads to Safe Mode..If it loads to Safe mode then you can perform a System Restore...Also check the hard drive by tapping F2 on startup..
    OR,
Try the steps mentioned in the link below:
Actions when specific error messages display
    Note:
If you have HP Support Assistant installed on the computer(The Blue Question Mark) then open it ==> Complete all pending Updates & Tuneups==> Restart and Check. It may solve your problem

I installed windows 7 on my MacBook pro and it did work well. But now windows has a startup problem and "startup repair" couldn't solve it, so I can't use both Mac os and windows and my laptop has become completely useless. Any suggestion?

Reboot and hold down command-R at the sound of the chime, that should take you to the Lion recovery partition, if it does go to disk utility and see if you have an OSX partition at all.

    Hi,
Here's one option you could try as it will give a good indication whether there is a hardware problem with the optical drive itself.
    Create a bootable Ubuntu CD
The Ubuntu CD you create should run as you boot the notebook ( as should your Recovery Discs ) , so if this will not run, the problem is almost certainly a Hardware issue with the DVD drive or the sata controller.
On another PC, follow the procedure on the link below to create a bootable Ubuntu CD and follow the steps in Part 3 to 'Try it' to see if your noteboo will run this OS from the CD.  The 'try it' option does not need to install on the Hard Drive, it just runs from the CD.
    http://www.ubuntu.com/desktop/get-ubuntu/download
Let me know if this will run.

  • Errors when reinstalling windows from recovery disks

My laptop crashed and could no longer find Windows, so I ordered a recovery disc (TR-IM00209299 - Win7 SP1 64Bit HomePremium (NH)) via the Toshiba Recovery Media Shop. I have now received the Windows 7 Recovery discs but they do not successfully install, and I'm unclear if this is an error on the discs I received, or an issue with the hardware. Below are the error details. Is this an error that any of you are familiar with? Please advise

I contacted Toshiba in parallel to making this post, and they suggested getting a new copy of the discs. • How to load drivers in Windows 8 Recovery Environment??

    Hi everyone,
I'm really stuck here with my HP dv7t-7200 laptop.. I'm running Windows 8 Pro (64-bit) & after a Windows Update reboot, I can't get to the start screen. The spinning balls continue for hours & hours. I know there's a recent restore point that I can
restore to, but I'm having trouble accomplishing this..
My laptop has a RAID array, so I need to load the storage driver in order for the Windows Recovery Environment to be able to see the hard drives. I don't see any options for doing this, can someone please help..? Here's where I'm at step-by-step:
    1) Boot from Windows 8 DVD
    2) Choose "Repair this computer"
    3) Choose "Troubleshoot"
    4) Choose "Advanced Options"
    5) Choose "System Restore"
Step (5) gives an error message : "To use System Restore,  you must specify which Windows installation to restore. Restart this computer, select an operating system, and then select System Restore"
I believe this is occurring b/c
Windows, as booted from DVD, can't see the logical hard drive. If I could figure out how to load the Intel storage driver from USB, I think Window-on-DVD would be able to find the restore point on my hard drive. In Windows 7 Recovery, there's an option to
"Load drivers" during a repair operation. Where is this option in Windows 8?
Here are further troubleshooting steps I tried, based on Internet search results:
    A) How do I mount the USB stick (which has the RAID driver for the laptop)? The following link is old, but the steps work. I stopped after step 6.
Internet search : windows command prompt mount usb
    http://www.ehow.com/how_8541121_mount-usb-drives-windows-xp.html
    B) After navigating to the mounted USB drive & appropriate folder, how do I load the RAID driver for the laptop? The following link suggests to use pnputil.exe, but this program won't run in my Windows 8 DVD recovery environment command prompt.
In any case, is it true that if & when I'm finally able to load the RAID driver, then DISKPART should be able to mount the drive & System Restore should see the Windows installation & offer to repair it?
Internet search: load windows drivers from command prompt
    http://superuser.com/questions/531594/windows-how-to-install-driver-from-recovery-command-prompt
    Any help appreciated,
    Thanks,
    Brad

Sergey: WOW & thanks, you are definitely the man! I want you to know that you've solved a problem that three levels of MS tech support haven't been able to work out..
I worked with a level 2 tech agent for several days, 20 minutes at a time. He was going back & forth with level 3 support staff, getting ideas from them & passing on to me. The level 2 guy finally told me it's not possible to load drivers during a Windows
8 system restore & gave up on my support ticket.
The manager then called for customer satisfaction follow-up. He said he had confirmed that Windows 7 DVD had the ability to load drivers for System Restore, but unfortunately this feature was removed for Windows 8. I convinced him that even so, *someone* at
MS must know a way to to load drivers for System Restore. He said he'd take it on as a personal challenge & would find s/o to assist.
Shortly thereafter, I got a call from a guy saying he's in the Research department at MS. He was immediately familiar with my problem. He said that he had previously resolved it by breaking the RAID mirror in the BIOS, which would allow Windows 8 DVD to recognize
one of the drives as an ordinary SATA drive & then load a driver for it. As we started down that path in my BIOS, he became concerned that actually, breaking my RAID mirror might cause data loss. He said he'd get back to me (that was a couple of days ago)..
So the question in my original post is solved, thank you again.
P.S. I still can't get Windows 8 restored, and might after all just have to reinstall everything!
    1) I followed your instructions exactly & indeed, System Restore found the Windows 8 installation.
    2) I chose the latest restore point & executed the restore. Operation initialized successfully but then failed with a disk read error.
    3) I quit the Restore, which caused auto-reboot. I followed your steps again but navigated this time to Repair / Troubleshooting / Advanced Options / Command Prompt
    4) I ran DISKPART, then "list volumes" to determine boot drive letter = E: (on my system)
    5) I exited diskpart, verified I was on a non-boot drive, & ran "chkdsk E: /X /F"
    6) "Corrections to the file system" were made
    7) For good measure, I ran "bootrec /FixMbr" & then "bootrec /FixBoot"
    8) I exited the command prompt & navigated to System Restore. Same error message.
    9) I followed your steps again, but navigated to Automatic Repair.
    10) Automatic Repair -> "Windows couldn't load correctly"
