Windows 7 problem connecting to Aironet 1130AG AP
We currently have Windows XP Pro laptops that are configured to connect with our Cisco Aironet 1130AG Access Point and everything works fine. I am trying to configure new Windows 7 laptops using the same settings we used for the XP Pro laptops and they will not connect to the AP. Have any of you run into configuration issues with Windows 7 and Cisco wireless access point connectivity and found a solution? Is there any documenation on how to configure Windows 7 with Cisco Aironet 1130AG Access Points?
The wireless card is a Dell DW1501 wireless N WLAN Half Mini Card (Broadcom is the manufacturer).
I had the router setup to not broadcast. I changed it to broadcast and Windows 7 still will not connect. Do you have any other suggestions? Windows 7 is 32-bit on the laptops and I read somewhere online that mentioned they had the same problems with 32-bit but not 64-bit. The XP laptops wireless configuration is WPA-Enterprise with Cisco Leap along with user name and password.

Cannot get Windows 7 x64 laptop to connect to AIRONET 1140 WAP
I recently changed the configuration of my Aironet 1140 from WEP to WAP2-Enterprise to make it more secure. I am using the WAP as the radius server. After making the change I connected my Blackberry to the wap as well as a Samsung Chromebook. However when I tried to connect my HP laptop it is unable to connect. Watching from the Aironet's console I see that it is processing the association and windows ask me to enter my uid and password. When I do this I get an authentication error. I have tried several times adjusting parameters on windows but it always fails. Here is the configuration of the WAP:

Any help would be greatly appreciated.Hello Mr. Wells,
Thank you for your question.
However, the Small Business Support Community is limited to Cisco Small Business Products, and the Aironet products are considered as a Enterprise level devices.
I recommend you to post this question on the on the correct forum, in order to get a better response.

Hi Fafolahan,
Just to add a note to the good info from Scott (+5 points here Scott :)
Converting a Lightweight Access Point Back to Autonomous Mode
You can convert an access point from lightweight mode back to autonomous mode by loading a Cisco IOS Release that supports autonomous mode (Cisco IOS release 12.3(7)JA or earlier). If the access point is associated to a controller, you can use the controller to load the Cisco IOS release. If the access point is not associated to a controller, you can load the Cisco IOS release using TFTP.
Using a TFTP Server to Return to a Previous Release
Note This section does not apply to Cisco C3201WMIC and Cisco C3201LAP.
Follow these steps to revert from LWAPP mode to autonomous mode by loading a Cisco IOS release using a TFTP server:
Step 1 The static IP address of the PC on which your TFTP server software runs should be between 10.0.0.2 and 10.0.0.30.
Step 2 Make sure that the PC contains the access point image file (such as c1200-k9w7-tar.122-15.JA.tar for a 1200 series access point) in the TFTP server folder and that the TFTP server is activated.
Step 3 On the PC where the TFTP server is located, perform these steps:
a. Disable any software firewall products, such as Windows firewall, ZoneAlarm firewall, McAffee firewall, or others.
b. Ensure all Windows files are visible. From Windows Explorer, click Tools > Folder Options > View > Show hidden files and folders.
Step 4 Rename the access point image file in the TFTP server folder to c1200-k9w7-tar.default for a 1200 series access point, c1130-k9w7-tar.default for an 1130 series access point, and c1240-k9w7-tar.default for a 1240 series access point.
Step 5 Connect the PC to the access point using a Category 5 (CAT5) Ethernet cable.
Step 6 Disconnect power from the access point.
Step 7 Press and hold MODE while you reconnect power to the access point.
Step 8 Hold the MODE button until the status LED turns red (approximately 20 to 30 seconds) and then release.
Step 9 Wait until the access point reboots, as indicated by all LEDs turning green followed by the Status LED blinking green.
Step 10 After the access point reboots, reconfigure it using the GUI or the CLI.
From this excellent doc;
http://www.cisco.com/en/US/customer/docs/wireless/access_point/conversion/lwapp/upgrade/guide/lwapnote.html#wp160918
Hope this helps!

Not sure that I have selected the correct forum. Hope my questions are clearly stated.
Having problems connecting iMac(late 2006) running 10.7.5 to a Samsung Flat Screen TV using separate audio/speaker cable and HDMI standard cable, mini-DVI to HDMI video converter. TV displays generic Apple galaxy background and "some" windows (e.g. screen resolution choices). It does not show Mail or Safari menus. System preferences' display "gathered" the Samsung and chose its resolution. I did not find a way to select the Samsung as my display.
In addition to having old hardware, we have Verizon FIOS providing internet and TV access. Is there any way to make this work for us? We would like to stream video (Netflix) and view shows from the Web. Do we need Apple TV to do this? Or is it not possible with our old iMac? My husband thinks that our Airport could be a factor.
Thank youLately, I have been seeing a lot of posts with users trying to use their Macs/iMacs to mirror their streaming video from their Macs to an HDTV.
There are, actually, many alternatives to choose from than just from a Mac.
You need to have or invest in a WiFi capable router for all of these examples.
Apple TV only integrates with WiFi and newer Mac hardware. So, if you want to have total integrated experience, if you have a 2011 Mac or newer, you might as well pay the $100 for the AppleTV box.
If you have a older Mac, like I have noticed many users do, then you have other options.
If you want to elimate long cable clutter and having your Mac at the mercy of your TV all of the time, you can still use the AppleTV box independently or purchase cheaper alternative media streaming boxes from Roku, Sony, Boxee or any number of electronics manufacturers that now have media streaming boxes and media streaming capability built into DVD/Blu-ray players.
These eliminate long cable clutter by being close to the HDTV where shorter, less expensive cables can be used.
Another alternative for iPad users is to use an iPad with the USB/HDMI video adapter and use your iPad as the streaming box. This ties up your iPad in much the same way as it does with your Mac, but again the iPad can be close to the TV and use minimal cables to the TV.
Another alternative to is to use a combination of an iPad and your Mac to stream content that is only available to stream online from a computer. In this case, you can use a desktop remote app on your iPad and Mac. A good and cheap Desktop Remote app is Splashtop Remote. This allows you to completely connect your iPad remotely, over Wifi, to your iMac desktop. The app streams both video and sound to the iPad which is still connected to your HDTV. The resultant stream video picture will be smaller than the size of your HDTV, but it will still be plenty large enough to watch. Again, if you own a iPad and an Intel Mac, this method also allows minimal cabling to the TV. -
I jus got a MacBook pro and Im having trouble connecting to my schools network. It is not secured and only requires to login with school id. A Window pops up to sign in but it never loads anyone know why I'm having this problem? Doesn't have a problem connecting to any other wifi
"This is a flaw in OS X Lion. It does not want to connect to open WiFi that has a login page that open in a browser."
Nonsense, no problems logging in at sites that you mention. I use OpenDNS servers. For the OP try:
System Preferences>Network>Advanced>DNS. In the left side column click on the + sign and insert the following:
208.67.222.222
208.67.220.220
Then click OK, then click Apply. -

Just got Mac book pro. I can't connect to office remotely thru the remote window. My office is window based and I have no problem connecting while at the office thru the server but cannot at home. Any help would be appreciated!
This what my IT replied with:
That teh MacBook cannot connect with RWW because it requires Active-X to connect. That MAc browsers (Safari) do not use Active-X but only Windows (IE) uses Active-X control.
It would seem to me that there must be a way around this. Any help?

Connecting iPod Nano 8GB video model to Windows 2k problems
Hello!
I hope someone can help, I had a MacBook that died and now I need to move our 4 iPods to the windows 2k environment. When you plug in the iPod it says that it needs to be converted to Windows, not problem, I click "OK" then iTunes starts and gives me the following message:
The iPod "IPOD2" cannot be used because it requires iTunes version 7.6 or later.
Go to www.itunes.com to download the latest version of iTunes.
Ther is NO 7.6 for Windows 2K? Any help could be appreciated.
I have the latest version for W2K, and I have 1 Nano that has syncd fine. Anyone have any ideas, I have searched and tried all the tech docs I could find to no avail. The iPod is visible in "My Computer" but when you click on it it asks if I want to format it, worried about doing that. Can't find any instructions on resetting the iPod back to factory/out of the box WITHOUT ITUNES! that may help!
Thanks,
JohnTher is NO 7.6 for Windows 2K?
I'm afraid not. The last version of iTunes for Windows compatible with Windows 2000 was 7.3.2:

... and the third generation (video) nanos require at least iTunes 7.4.x (and 7.6 is currently recommended). -
DHCP Server Assignment - Aironet 1130AG
I am attempting to configure a Cisco Aironet 1130AG to use a Windows Server 2003 DHCP server for assigning addresses to clients connecting to the access point. Does anyone know how to set this option? I cannot find it anywhere.
Any help will be greatly appreciated.I'm having more or less the same problem but mine is even more low level than this. I have three 1130ag's that were setup in as PEEP authentication. The PEEP was proving to be a problem for whatever reason and we decided to go with WEP authentication and have the 1130's be regular old APs. Well apparently they can't or won't do that. I set one up as a standalone AP and it actually worked for about three weeks giving out DHCP addys to laptops then one day decided it wouldn't anymore. So I reset it using the MODE button and put the same information back into the device. Now it will allow clients to connect but never gives them a DHCP addy. We don't have and never had a Cisco Wireless controller and these have been working as PEEP WAPs for well at least a year or so. Why won't they simply give out DHCP to the clients?

Android 4.1 tablet not connecting to Aironet 1140
Hello community, I am having an issue with my Android Tablet running 4.1 (Jelly Bean). It is able to the SSID, but when I try to connect - it stays connecting and then says saved, and never connects, as it does not pick up an IP address. I updated the firmware on the Aironet 1140 due to my Windows 8 pc's not connecting as well, it solved my Windows 8 problem, just not my Android Tablet problem. My Ipads do work. Just any android device I connect...
Anyone, ran into this issue that can assist?
Thanks in advance.Hello William,
What is the security used on your wireless LAN?
Can you apply this command on your WLC CLI:
show wlan
and post us the output right here?

Aironet 1130ag RAIDUS auth issues - what is no sg in radius-timers?
Hi All.
wonder if anyone can help
We have an aironet 1130ag in a remote office connected to the data centre over MPLS. The Radius server is based on server 2003
We have hundreds of these points set up exactly the same but this is the only one giving me issues, I even stripped the config and rebuilt it and then swapped with a new access point
The issue is that clients can't authenticate when connecting to the access point but provides nothing in event viewer. Checking the RADIUs server provides nothing either.
The access point error logs just state station: authentication failed
On looking deeper into the problem I enabled RADIUS debugging on the access point and got some interesting results, in particular is the line:
no sg in radius-timers: ctx 0x12EF0A4 sg 0x0000
I can't find out what no SG in Radius-timers actually means, but after that line appears I just see more retransmits and no sg fails.
I inspected the packets on the RADIUs server and found lots access requests coming from my access point and lots of access-challenges returning back from my RADIUS server - I'm not sure how often that's supposed to happen or if it's a one time occurance. I did however see directly after the first access-request that the RADIUS server returns with UDP and is fragmented, length is 1514...... could this be the problem? If so why cannot it hanlde fragmented packets? And what do I need to do to fix?
Many thanks for the help
Markthe fragmented packet might be a red herring as I've just done the same packet inspection on the same radius server but coming from a different access point which works, I get the same fragmented UDP packet but the connection works.
any ideas? -
I have 4 Aironet 1130AG WAP's
How do I configure them to use WPA Without a RADIUS server?
I have got one of them set up by adding a VLAN and a SSID and used in encription manager I set Cypher to TKIP.
In SSID I have set Key management to mandatory checked WPA and set the WPA pre-shared key.
On my laptop I can see the SSID and it is listed as Security Enabled network (WPA)
When I try to connect and and enter the WPA pre-shared key it tries to connect and never does, but the connection changes to Automatic.
How do I get these to work?
ThanksUnless you need VLANs for your network you don't need to configure any on the AP to make this work and that may be where your problem lies. Try removing the VLAN and see if that helps.

Hi, I am trying to enable POE on our three new Aironet 1130ag but they fail to get the power from 6500 switches which have WS-X6348 modules and WS-F6K-VPWR sub modules. I disabled power injector and tried power negotiation and pre-standard compatibility without any success. Thanks.
Hi Reza,
I think you have already figured out the problem here :) This module - WS-F6K-VPWR only supplies 7W of PoE power and the 1130 requires 802.3af 15W PoE;
http://www.cisco.com/en/US/docs/switches/lan/catalyst6500/hardware/Config_Notes/78_10826.html#wp31976
We had this happen to us recently due to a PoE problem. The 1130 requires either IEEE 802.3af power or needs a setting on the WLC for using power injector or Cisco Pre-Standard PoE. Our older switches could only provide Cisco Pre-Standard PoE so we had to tweak the WLC Power setting for these AP's. Once we did that the Radios came right up. Here is a reference;
You may have to enter the following info in the WLC;
While the AP boots, with its Intelligent Power Management feature, it negotiates with the switch via Cisco Discovery Protocol messages in order to provide the necessary power to the AP. Even though the power injector is connected to the AP, the AP that uses this Intelligent Power Management feature gives priority to the Cisco Discovery Protocol information in order to identify whether or not the switch can provide the power. Therefore, after the Cisco Discovery Protocol message shows that the switch does not provide sufficient power (since it is not an inline power capable switch), the AP disables its radios. At this time, the status LED of the AP turns orange and this error message is recorded:
[ERROR] : AP has not enough in-line power
to enable radio slot 1 In order to overcome this problem, issue the
config ap power injector enable installed
command on the controller that is connected with this AP. This command is available from controller version 3.2.116.21. Ensure that you use the correct version in the controller.
This command specifies that a power injector is used in order to supply sufficient power to the AP.
From this doc;
Cisco Aironet and WLAN Controller Product Power Options
http://www.cisco.com/en/US/products/hw/wireless/ps430/products_tech_note09186a00800946e7.sh
Have a look at this good Q&A;
Q. As with the 1200 Series AP, can a 1130/1240 AP work with 7 watts of power to it from a pre-standard POE with 802.11g radio alone disabled?
A. No, the power consumption on the AP1240 breaks down like this:
5 GHz only radio 11.56 watts
2.4 GHz only radio 12.96 watts
Both radios on 15.0 watts
The power consumption on the AP1130 breaks down like this:
5 GHz only radio 9.750 watts
2.4 GHz only radio 9.910 watts
Both radios on 12.20 watts
In either case, you can see that, for the AP to operate with a single radio, it requires more than 7 watts of power.

Hope this helps!
